LC & IB Jason has a very good update about the Sooner Bomber that you ought to go read.

Looks like a suicide note suddenly and conveniently popped up to further bolster the FBI’s categorical denial of terrorism. It’s almost as if somebody somewhere suddenly found a ballot box chock full of votes for Gore or Kerry on election night in a state “too close to call”, isn’t it?

NORMAN - The University of Oklahoma student who died in an explosion Oct. 1 left a message on his computer that he was going to quit living, his father said.

The FBI read the message to the father Friday, after he came to Oklahoma to clear out his son’s university-owned apartment.

Funny, though, because we seem to recall the father telling the press earlier that the FBI had told him there was no suicide note.

Joel Hinrichs Jr. said he understood investigators found the message on the computer screen when they arrived at the apartment.

“It was a single line of text on his computer,” said the father, who lives in Colorado Springs. “The cursor was still blinking at the end.”

The father said he could not recall the exact wording but said his son used profanity in the message and was obviously very angry. “He wrote he was dissatisfied with the situation and was going to quit living,” the father said.

A single line of text laced with profanity that was impossible to remember, that is, a single line that he left blinking on the screen on his way out of the door and yet undiscovered by the FBI until now. Nope, nothing hokey about that, nothing whatsoever.

His description of the message is consistent with the recollection of others who have been briefed about the investigation by the FBI.

At least we can’t blame them for being sloppy in keeping their story straight.

FBI officials have said they may never know whether the student wanted to get inside the stadium. The student did not have a season ticket.

…and L-rd knows nobody ever tries to go to a game without purchasing a season ticket. So what happened to those witnesses that mentioned Hamas Hinrichs’ aborted attempt to get in? We may never know.

FBI officials also have said the investigation has not found any links between the student and terrorist organizations.

…which means exactly nothing, keeping in mind how they were equally categorical in immediately denying terrorist involvement in the refinery explosion in Texas City earlier this year, a categorical denial that they issued eight days prior to bothering to send agents down to have a look-see.

Pardon us if we’re not overly impressed with the FBI’s categorical denials.

His father said he thinks his son was just committing suicide and never intended to hurt anyone else.

That would certainly explain why he chose to leave this Vale of Tears by strapping a load of explosives to himself, going to a public place within 100 yards of a stadium with 84,000 people in attendance (a place he may or may not have tried to enter), sitting down on a bench and pushing the Boom Button.

Or not.

The younger Hinrichs had a long fascination with ammunition and bombs, his relatives and friends said. Inside his bedroom in Norman were several used metal artillery shells — the largest about 2 feet long. He had belts of used brass shell casings, a box of spent bullets and military ammo containers.

Are you getting the same feeling that we are? That they’re trying to paint Hinrichs as the stereotypical angry white militia-type with a few screws loose? Are we also the only ones finding it mildly strange that the article has been completely and utterly sanitized with regards to Hinrichs’ ties to Islam?

Could they at least try to be a little less obvious?

Oh, and since this was just an angry white explosives nut doing nothing more than committing suicide, why were all the records sealed by the Feds?

They really must think that we’re all as stupid as they look.

This reminds me a lot of allowing MLB to test it’s own players for steroids. The FBI has a vested interest in there being no more terrorist incidents…that’s all they need is more investigations labeling them as incompetent.

Fortunately, this likely terrorist blew it.

I’m just speculating here and asking others to speculate but I think one of four things or a combination of these may be happening:

    1) The FBI is trying to prevent public hysteria over a terrorist attack.
    2) The FBI and other agencies are attempting to track down remnants of a terrorist cell that may be linked to the bomber and are playing a game of bluff to avoid scattering the cell.

    3) They are trying to cover their assess because they missed something in an ongoing investigation and may have been able to prevent this attempted attack. (Fear of congressional inquiries and budget cuts to an ineffective agency?)
    4) Perhaps people with political motives in the FBI are trying to make this look like a simple suicide to discredit the notion that there is a threat of domestic terrorist attacks caused by US citizens linked to Islamic terror groups.

    What do you people think?

There aren’t any mentioned anymore, that’s the funny bit, because he was a convert and a regular mosque-goer not too long ago.

What’s really sad is that they suck so badly at it.

Heck, I could spin better than that when I was 12.

Fresh Taqqiyeh, proud product of islam, long ago adopted by the media, fed to the gapin maw of the round-eyed masses.
‘Problem is, we unfortunately tend to bump into it too.
Too low to kick, too slimey to stomp on.
