“X” Marks the Spot
Posted by: Emperor Darth Misha I in Blogs and Blogging, Journaljizzm, Lefty America-Haters6:55 pm
An update on the CNN embellishing the Vice President’s face with an “X” kerfuffle.
Not a “technical glitch” after all, if this turns out to be true (24 hour rule on this one, that much is for sure).
Assuming, again, that this is true, His Rottieness does believe that CNN has a bit of explaining to do.
A few observations:
- CNN are really living up to their motto, “The Most Busted Name in News”, aren’t they?
- They’re even worse incompetents than we thought.
- Didn’t anybody at CNN stop to wonder if the caller on the other end had heard of tape recorders?
[UPDATE: Bill Quick does some investigative journalism and comes up with some more information, including a recording of a CNN employee… This is good. Really, really good.]

24-hours were up, but let’s keep the powder dry for another day and see what happens.

Shit, Piss and Industrial Waste! These fucks say WE are arrogant bastards*?
Can you wrap your minds around how much Hell would be raised if Fox did that to Clintoon or AlBore?

* re: arrogant bastards - Upon the recommendation of a couple of LC’s this past weekend, I tried, for the first time, Arrogant Bastard Ale. Yowza! I like a lot, but it has a tendancy to sucker punch ya. Be warned…

Oh, nonono. I understand what the words “Contains 7.2% Alcohol” means. It means this little black duck stops at two of those. And, yes, I felt the two. They are strong enough that i can taste the alcohol.
Good, but they bite.

Sheesh, this is as bad as what CBS did. From what I picture, it does look as tacky as a serial killer’s hit list like they want to assasinate the vice-president or something. I don’t mind dissent but that is totally outrageous. I believe in a little bit of respect for whoever serves in the White House whether it is Clinton, Reagan or Bush. The amount of subjectivity that seems to be hinted at at the responses makes for a wonderful start to a Thanksgiving weekend(sarcasm.) and I like CNN. I guess that this “shock picture” is doing a job at getting ratings. If it was unintentional why? Why wouldn’t it be intentional? Of course CNN is Ted Turner’s station and got big because of Gulf War I yet this is the news, this is the grand spewing of dissent? Sad, absolutely pathetically sad.

Of COURSE it’s to get ratings. Fox has been handing them their asses for 2 years, and they are competing with MSNBC, CNBC and the broadcast networks for their Targer Audience (the 20% of the American People to the left of Bill Clintoon).
All that’s left is the MikeyMoron crowd, and they are a discerning bunch. They think Ted *hic* Kennedy is a KKKonservative, and HowwierdDean and John F’n Kerry are moderates.

As much as I hate to admit it, as a former broadcast engineer, I’m guessing that this is a bona-fide technical error. The duration the X reportedly appeared on the screen for a couple of frames, probably for cueing.
I suppose that a liberal technical staffer could have placed the marker where it could be seen by viewers, and/or that they might be amused by a technical glitch when they saw it, but I doubt that corporate would approve, even if they were raving liberal moonbats. The embarassment and backlash to their bottom line would be too severe.
More telling is the reaction of the rest of the media, or what their reaction would have been if it had happened on FOX. My usual test for bias and discrimination is to reverse the situation and see how people would respond.

If anyone hasn’t run across it, the text of the speech is here.
November 22nd, 2005 at 8:55 pmA damn good speech.
Dubya needs to use Chaney’s speechwriter.

Fuck ‘em! They should be taken down a peg or three for the shit they spew everyday. That asshat woofie bluster is one of the dumbest bastards on tv! “So poor and so black” If Fox had said that, the shit would still be hitting the fan! I hope the FCC nails them but I won’t hold my breath

What can we expect form a “news” channel that was started by someone who would marry a traitorous bitch like “Hanoi Jane”?

Hi, in case anyone was wondering what the black text is under the “X”, it reads “Transition begins after 5 frames of black”.
I found that here:
http://thedanreport......ealed.html
If it was unintentional it sure happened at a funny time didn’t it. My opinion is that it was likely a video tech that thought they’d make a political statement.

dang Someone beat me to the dan report.
I wonder if the folks at CNN would be responcible to investigate and ensure it was not politically motivated.
Probally not.

If this is true , then CNN has just blown their credibility forever. I don’t give a flying fuck what any staffer’s views are..if they decide that the media is to be used to promote one side’s political agenda and nothing else, then they have no business expecting anyone to listen to anything they say.
I don’t give a toss what any of them think…if they are now coming out as partisan, then they as a network have just destroyed any “reputation” for objectivity they ever thought they had.
SeeBS now has a new partner in garbage.

I quit watching CNN, and visiting their webstie, a few months ago after I saw Ted Turner make an ass of himself on Letterman. Guess I have good reason to never turn back.

“Transition begins after 5 frames of black” is definitely a cue, with ‘X’ as a frame marker.
I doubt if it was intentional or malicious. To avoid conservatives being marked as barking moonbats ourselves, I would save my wrath for something more eggregious than a single video frame. Now, if it happens again, frequently and only over conservative subjects, then I’d start to get rambunctious.
