The ever vigilant Scott and Moonbat Monitor tells us that the design of the Flight 93 Memorial is going to be modified, all to appease, well, us right-wingers! Via LGF via Michelle Malkin.
WASHINGTON - The architect of the memorial to a plane downed in western Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, said Wednesday he would work to satisfy critics who complained that it honors terrorists with its crescent-shaped design.
Designer Paul Murdoch said he is “somewhat optimistic” that the spirit of the design could be maintained.
“It’s a disappointment there is a misinterpretation and a simplistic distortion of this, but if that is a public concern, then that is something we will look to resolve in a way that keeps the essential qualities,” Murdoch, 48, of Los Angeles, said in a telephone interview.
I think Tom Tancredo’s call to the National Park Service was the final nail, but the design collapsed after only a couple days of criticism.

Now that is a bit o’ good news.
Though I’m glad that “we” seem to have a vicotry here, I’m thrilled that the families of Flight 93 may yet not have to suffer the offense of finding the Red Crescent standing as the tombstone of their beloved.
Shall we keep up the pressure? I say yes. Very much, yes.

Anyone else hear Joe Lieberman admit that Democrats gave Mike Brown a green light to head FEMA? Only 4 of 17 Democrats showed up for his confirmation hearing, which lasted all of 45 minutes.
After all the griping, Lieberman said more scrutiny would be applied to whoever was suggested to succeed Brown.
Then Lieberman skipped the meeting.

There wasn’t that much pressure from people on this. He folded pretty easily, almost as if it was expected. I don’t see why there needs to be any big symbolic structure or design. Leave the field as is with a simple wall bearing the story and the names of the heroes on it. The facts of what those brave souls did is all the symbolism needed. IMHO

So what’s the plan now? From all I’m reading, Murdoch believes that he can just re-design something, and then build it.
I thought people selected a design, not an architect?
Time to hold a new contest.

“…to appease, well, us right-wingers!”
This is a right-wing site? Who knew?
Frankly, I am a little bit done with memorials. I think we need to win the war before we start building monuments and getting all weepy.
But let me burn yet more of Misha’s generosity with bandwidth and tell you about the memorial I would like to see for 9/11-just one battle in the fight against the IslamoNationalSocialists and their fellow travelers.
I want to see Osama bin Laden and his associates in those plastic modern handcuffs being led by young female Marines in a tickertape parade down Fifth Avenue. Right along side of him, with the Shiite-loving Mr. Zaquawri and Mullah “let’s shoot the Buddha’s cause I already murdered all the ophthalmologists” Omar, I wouldn’t object to the Saudi Royal Family-all 3,000 of them-on their knees before the assembled people of that city, begging for the return of the main attraction of my little triumph.
You want a fitting memorial for flight 93? After the parade in New York City where it would be on display as a relic of our victory and destruction of all our enemies, take the Kaaba from Mecca and put in in that field Pennsylvania. Let then bow to us when they pray.

There’s a fatwah coming with your name on it Warspite. I’m jealous.

I love it Warspite, just the thought of your memorial ideas brings a smile to my sour puss, badly needed after this crappy day. I especially loved the part about the female Marines leading Osama goat Mama around in cuffs.
Did you all catch the condescending tone of this memorials “designer”?
let me quote:
That says it all right there my friends, This “designer”, who calls us average citizens simplistic, could not care less about honoring those who died in that field. I don’t know what his intentions were in putting a crescent in this place of honor, but he certainly did not have the souls and memories of those brave people on Flight 93 in mind when he drew up this monstrosity.
If you want to see beautiful monuments, move down the road from Shanksville to Gettysburg. A monument similar in style to these would be nice:

September 15th, 2005 at 7:13 pmIt’s a place of honor, our first (and not last) victory against those cave dwellers.
It’s not an appropriate place to make some lame politically correct statement, no matter how they try to veil it up.

Pomoze Bog.
I’m waiting to see what he replaces the Crescent of Islam with. How about a huge condom shape? You could even use shrubs to make a ribbed effect, especially when seen from the air…
Personally, I would create a grove of trees shaped like a hand giving the “Hawaiian Hello” with the middle finger pointed towards Mecca.

Whatever you thought of the original design, this agreement is in stark contrast to the monument designers in New York.
Boy, can you imagine what would have happened to these sites before the Internet age? We’d have a Museum of Imperialist Hegemony in New York and a monument to the muslims who died massacring thousands in PA. The only real memorial to the vitcims would probably be a plaque somehwere in the Pentagon.
