Archive for the “Borders? What Borders?” Category

Those of you tuned into the show last night might recall that we were, among other things, talking about this border incident, in which a band of armed Mexican gunmen assaulted a border post manned by the National Guard, forcing the Guard to retreat.

It’s still unclear to me just exactly what went on, but from reading the post linked to above, it seems that the Guardsmen were, indeed, armed, but that they weren’t issued bullets. It’s also unclear just how many Mexican invaders we’re talking about, not to mention how many Guardsmen we had deployed there. And, of course, we all know that the Rules of Endangerment most likely forbids our Guardsmen from firing back unless they’ve been shot dead first.

We have soldiers in Iraq being brought up on war crime charges for doing their job, two Border Patrol agents sentenced to 10 and 11 years in the slammer for firing at an armed Mexican drug runner resisting arrest and G-d knows what else, so it would be optimistic in the extreme to assume that the Guardsmen that were sent to the border under much fanfare in order to appease the voting public are, in any shape, form or fashion, allowed to do anything other than conduct donut & coffee runs for the Border Patrol.

Another part of the Bush Legacy™, right there.

We have 1/3 of a fence that won’t ever get the funding to be actually, you know, built, Guardsmen that aren’t allowed to, you know, protect the borders lest they injure members of the armed invasion forces that Jorge Arbusto seems to think elected him and that he, at any rate, are more concerned about than the citizens that he is required, under oath, to protect, and a full amnesty for 12 million felons just about to hit us any time now.

THE single most important obligation of a government, ANY government, is to uphold and protect the sovereignty of the nation that they’re elected to govern.

I think it’s abundantly clear that our current junta in DC have failed miserably in that respect, that they do no respect their oaths and that they are unfit for command in every respect.

“When in the course of human events it becomes necessary…”
