This just in from Sir Christopher:

SAN FRANCISCO — As many as 14 people were injured this afternoon by a motorist who drove around San Francisco running them down before he was arrested, authorities said.

Seven of those injured were in critical condition, police and firefighters said.

Now just what kind of a person (and we’re using the term loosely here) would possibly use a vehicle as an instrument of mass murder?

Authorities have identified the man who was arrested as Omeed Aziz Popal, who has addresses in Ceres (Stanislaus County) and Fremont.

Omeed Aziz Popal?

Those damn Presbyterians! Or is that a Mormon name? We forget.

Authorities said they believe Popal was the same driver who ran over and killed a 55-year-old man walking in a bicycle lane in Fremont, at Fremont Boulevard near Ferry Lane, just after noon. That crash scene is just blocks from Popal’s Fremont address, where he had most recently been living.

Not to mention that, if you read the rest of the article, the vehicle that was used in the murder of the man in Fremont looked exactly like the vehicle that Omeed Aziz Popal was driving when he was apprehended. Great detective work there, which makes us wonder what’s up with this? (watch the whole thing, it’s quite interesting).

Note that Omeed was calmly, deliberately mowing down people. Note that his rampage took place, among other places, outside a Jewish Community Center. Note that the perpetrator, when apprehended, referred to himself as a terrorist.

Then note that the police immediately stated that, whatever else it might have been, it definitely wasn’t terrorism.

Which, of course, in today’s pissant, scared shitless of CAIR world, means that it was.

Or maybe it wasn’t. Anything’s possible, we suppose.

It’s just increasingly hard to believe a single word from law enforcement when they, whenever a member of the Religion of Piss commits an act of terrorism, immediately rule out terrorism.

Seems to His Majesty that one of the first things you should do when fighting a war is to call the enemy by its name. Even if their fifth column sympathizers in terrorist front organizations such as CAIR have conniptions.

But obviously the motto among those defending us has changed from “better dead than red” to “better dead than rude.”

Heaven help us. We’re being “led” by a bunch of nuns with a chronic case of the vapors.

Interesting how this “Muslim criminals are really terrorists but the police don’t want to let us know” meme has gotten traction lately. Let’s follow the logic:

    1. Muslims commit some crimes.

    2. We know that these criminals are really terrorists because they’re Muslims. After all, it’s a well known fact that every Muslim is a terrorist just like Osama Bin Laden.

    3. We can ignore any statements by law enforcement that the criminals have no known terrorist ties. The government just doesn’t want us to know!

    4. We can also ignore any other reasons why the person may have committed the crime (greed, rage, mental illness, etc.). They’re Muslims, so they MUST be terrorists. We don’t need any direct evidence of involvement with terrorist organizations to know that!

It’s called guilt by association. Swap the name of another group for “Muslim” and another crime for “terrorism” and you can see how ludicrous this line of reasoning is and how can be used to make all kinds of wild accusations.

    For example:

    1. Joe robbed a bank, Frank deliberately ran over some people on the sidewalk, and Bill killed a guy. All of these men are members of the Mormon Church.

    2. They must all be polygamists because it’s a well known fact that every Mormon is secretly a polygamist who wants to return to the good old days — look at Rulon Jeffs!

    3. The Salt Lake City police have stated that polygamy wasn’t known to be a factor in these crimes. But they have an incentive to cover it up because they don’t want us to know how many polygamists there really are in Utah — the public will panic!

    4. It turns out that Joe had a long existing criminal record, Frank was mentally ill, and Bill shot the guy during a fight. None of them were polygamists or had any ties to known polygamist groups. But that doesn’t mean they’re not polygamists!

Conservatives rightfully get pissed off at liberals who use this sort of “logic” to accuse evangelical Christians of various sins. Why they are doing it themselves escapes me.

Why is it that people like this “liberalqueer” seem to think our aversion to being murdered by sociopathic muslims always comes from a biblical source?

Is is so hard to accept that I am not willing to be murdered in the name of someone else’s religion? Is is possible that I agree with the Old Testament, New Testament and Mohammed that human sacrifice is an unacceptable expression of religious faith?

WHy is it so hard to accept that, yes, I express my Christianity by rejecting the callous taking of life to make a shoddy political point?

“Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends” (John 15:14).

(Luke 22:36-38; cf. 2 Corinthians 11:26-27). Jesus tells his followers to sell their garments so they could buy swords to defend themselves.

Christianity teaches us that allowing evil is just as bad as committing the evil act yourself. Without, of course, getting into how Jesus upheld the word of God in the Old Testament-completely. Without reservation.

I am glad that you show even a nominal interest in Christian teachings, even if it is only a scholarly one. But you cannot take a few random quotes from the New Testament and try to mold other people’s outlook on life. Especially if your understanding of Christianity is incomplete.

Not to mention the part about how quoting religious text to strengthen your arguments about secular matters. That means that you lose the argument. Every time.

Bottom line is that you need to study the Bible better before accusing others of being Psuedo-Christians.

“One witness said the suspect referred to himself as a terrorist”

This from the KTVU video clip.

And by the way, that hit and run guy was having a psychotic break.

Now, liberalqueer, are you a psychiatrist who has personally examined the suspect?

Or is he personally known to you?

Or are you basing your diagnosis on what was said to the press by relatives?

NEWSFLASH! Relatives lie. Quite often, in fact. Everyone out there knows some symptoms of a psychotic episode. Every relative of this individual is now going to say things like, “I can never see him doing such an act.” or “Omeed is not that kind of boy.” and “I don’t know what is wrong with him. He is the nicest boy.”, simply because they want people to feel sorry for him.

It’s a natural human reaction. Hard to blame the family members for it.

But, is it the truth? Or has our little friend Omeed been going to the mosque and listening to the mullah spout about “The Great Satan”, and “Killing the Kaffir”?

We won’t know for a long time, if ever.

Personally, I, myself, (despite a long association with the mental health field), feel that, if our boy Omeed WAS indeed having a psychotic break, he is still responsible for his actions. If I were to suddenly have strong urges to hack my neighbor to death with an axe because she mows her yard at 7:30 on a Saturday morning, and I both fail to get help AND act on these urges, I have no one to blame but myself.

The same is true with our muslim Omeed. If he was hearing voices in his head telling him to run over pedestrians, and failed to seek help for these urges, and then proceeded to act on them. It is HIS FUCKING FAULT!

Now, you may try to give me some bullshit about “cultural differences”, etc. Sorry pal. No sale. If he is religiously observant, and didn’t want to go to a psychiatrist or psychologist, he needed to go to the mullah of his mosque. If Islam is all about peace, (anyone who reads the Koran knows better, but…), then his spiritual adviser would get him some help.

None of the above happened, did it?

And then, immediately after this prolonged rampage, Omeed self identifies as a terrorist.

If I call myself one, after killing and maiming a number of people, well doncha think I AM one?

First of all, liberalqueer, I am not a Christian. I don’t have to turn the other cheek (obviously your definition of the word peace). I am a Jew. So don’t preach me to about “peace.”

Secondly, why don’t you go http://www.threligionofpeace.com. I DARE YOU, COWARD!!!

Thirdly, this columnist says it all:

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that two men are being sought in connection with an arson at a Minneapolis mosque — a crime that has attracted the attention of the FBI as a potential bias crime. Liberal City Council Member Gary Schiff arrived at the scene to pronounce: “There’s no doubt this was clearly a hate crime. It was a very deliberate offense.” Alan Silver, president of the Jewish Community Relations Council in Minneapolis, was also on hand to denounce the fire as “an attack on all of us.”

One of the men captured on surveillance cameras was white, sporting a full beard. The other was black, with a beard closely cropped around the jaw line. There are signs that gasoline was used to set the fire. On this evidence, the FBI, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and a number of community leaders in Minneapolis are certain a hate crime has been committed. Well, it’s possible, of course, but how many multi-racial anti-Muslim hate groups exist in the United States? Twenty to one they’ll discover it was just a plain old arson.

Meanwhile, in San Francisco, an immigrant from Afghanistan went on a rampage with his SUV, killing one man and wounding 18 others in hit-and-run attacks. Witnesses said he drove up onto curbs deliberately aiming at pedestrians. “Driver Called Unstable,” read the headline in the Washington Times. Yes, but according to the San Jose Mercury News, he was also a product of a certain culture. Omeed Popal was 29 years old, but apparently totally sheltered and controlled by his parents, who, according to the paper, “believed they needed to protect him from America’s ‘evil society.’” He had recently traveled to Afghanistan to be married to a woman his family picked out for him.

Perhaps there was nothing more to the story than mental instability and cultural rigidity bordering on the pathological. But the rampage ended at the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco, where two of the victims were struck. It also happens to echo a hit-and-run attack in North Carolina last spring. Iranian born Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar used a rented Jeep to plow into a crowd at the University of North Carolina. As Investor’s Business Daily reported, he told police that he ran down nine people with his SUV to “punish the government of the United States for its actions around the world.” He further explained to the judge that he was “thankful for the opportunity to spread the will of Allah.” No one has yet accused him of a hate crime, but news reports in that case as well stressed his mental instability. Students at UNC were deeply divided about whether the attack should be called terrorism.

When Naveed Haq invaded the Seattle Jewish Federation in Seattle last month and methodically shot six women, killing one, the coverage was quiet. The stories tended to focus on Haq’s (you guessed it) history of mental instability, and while officials did not hesitate to call it a hate crime, there was a good deal of reassurance about an “isolated act” and all that.

A few years before that, an Egyptian-born immigrant shot up the El Al ticket counter at Los Angeles International Airport. No significance, we were instructed. Isolated act.

“Beltway snipers” and Muslim converts John Allen Mohammed and Lee Malvo terrorized the Washington area for weeks when they went on a shooting spree. Their religious motivation (they admired the 9/11 hijackers) was soft-pedaled.

What is missing from the response to all of these attacks is some attention to the Muslim spirit of the day. Doubtless all of these criminals are mentally borderline types. But the environment in which they are nurtured affects their willingness to resort to violence as well as their choice of victims. In no case have Muslim leaders stepped forward to proclaim that an attack on a Jewish community center, for example, “is an attack on all of us.” Nor do they condemn the assaults as contrary to the tenets of Islam.

Fourthly, as a Jew who has watched my people getting slaughtered by the Muslims (they’ve been doing it since the turn of the 20th century, read some history books, read about Hebron and Safed), and getting condemned for being victims and/or fighting back, I am SICK SICK SICK OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU. HOW DARE YOU TELL ME, A JEW, HOW TO FEEL AND HOW TO REACT!

Make sure to look up what Iran did to 9 homosesexuals a few months ago.

Amen, readerjp, simply amen. Let these Muslim supporters and those excusing their actions reap the consequences of their support, rather than asking the rest of us. I cannot for the life of me understand how any woman or gay person anywhere can support or excuse the actions of these people. They would be the first mutilated or murdered. Perhaps that self-destructive trait the left is known for.

Heaven help us. We’re being “led” by a bunch of nuns with a chronic case of the vapors.

Sorry, Heaven helps no one, Sire. Only way anyone can help is to secure their gear and join in the helping of ourselves.
