It Would Have Sounded More Authentic in the Original German

At a debate between George Allen and Jim Webb, Senate candidates for Virginia, a journaljizzmer named Peggy Fox broke into a hearty rendition of the “Horst Wessel Lied”. No, sorry, we made that up, but it was almost as bad.
For some reason, Ms Fox felt it important to ask Mr Allen the following question:
“It has been reported your grandfather Felix, whom you were given your middle name for, was Jewish. Could you please tell us whether your forebears include Jews and, if so, at which point Jewish identity might have ended?”
The media are just making sure that candidates aren’t in violation of the Nuremberg Race Laws, we suppose, encouraged by their success in making the Democratic ballot of Connecticut “Judenrein”.
LC & IB Allahpundit notes that Mr Allen as well as the audience “responded appropriately”, the former with anger, the latter by booing loudly.
His Majesty, though certainly in agreement with the crowd’s reaction of dismay and disbelief, nevertheless, based on his national heritage and on historical precedent, has to disagree here.
The appropriate reaction would’ve been to strip Ms Fox naked, shave her head and paint swastikas on her buttocks.
But we’ll take what we can get.

Sire, might I propose one slight modification to your proposal.
I would propose, “painting” via a red-hot branding iron.
Unfrigginbelievable—*shaking head in disgust*

September 19th, 2006 at 11:39 amWhere does this women work ? Voelkischer Verlag Wilhelm Haerdel ? Verlag Stuermer ?
I hope she was fired and will never work in the media again.
Antisemitism on a broad scale is over in the West. She might work for an Iranian news agency though. She might have to learn Persian, but her attitude would be right on target. We should order a burkha for her.
Panzermann over and out !
September 19th, 2006 at 11:53 amMerciful Heavens! I certainly hope that stupid skank is fired and forbidden to ever work in any branch of the media again, even to scrub their toilets.
At least the candidate’s reaction [did not apologize for offending anyone with the notion of his possible Jewish identity] as well as that of the audience gives one reason to hope this country is salvageable.
September 19th, 2006 at 12:11 pmIn case anybody would like to send a her a nice message:
pfox@wusa9.com
In German, of course…
September 19th, 2006 at 12:33 pmThat was pretty amazing. It sounded like she started to ask a stupid question, then caught herself sounding retarded, so she decided to go off on the Jewish tangent which was even worse thinking she was saving face. Our hero rebounded the question beautifully.
Freudian slip on her part, perhaps? Shade of latent racism, or do you think she meant to ask that question? Personally, it seemed like she started talking without her brain engaged, then tried to rescue herself, only to dig her own pr grave.
September 19th, 2006 at 12:58 pmI wrote her, albeit in the King’s English:
September 19th, 2006 at 12:59 pmjewish roots are ‘baaaad” when you’re GOP, but Dems applaud their politicians who “find” semitic roots. Allbright, and didn’t Kerry make such a pronouncement?
September 19th, 2006 at 1:00 pmI never thought I should hear this kind of talk in my lifetime. And in America ? - sorry : Islamerica ?
September 19th, 2006 at 1:11 pmyou might try the station General Manager Darryll Green at dgreen@wusa9.com or the News Director Randal Stanley at rstanley@wusa9.com as well. Here is my calm query:

Mr. Green,
I was appalled by the conduct of your reporter Peggy Fox at the Allen/Webb debate. A video clip can be found here:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2006/09/18/VI2006091800669.html
I can not for the life of me imagine what inspired Ms. Fox’s question which I quote:
“It has been reported your grandfather Felix, whom you were given your middle name for, was Jewish. Could you please tell us whether your forebears include Jews and, if so, at which point Jewish identity might have ended?”
I am not Jewish and reserve the term “anti-semite” to describe a person or their behavior in all but the the most obvious cases, but I cannot see any other motive for her question. It is interesting to note that Ms. Fox’s standards of “Jewishness” are more stringent than Hitler’s Nuremberg laws which required not one but two grandparents of Jewish ancestry to qualify officially as a Jew.
Imagine if Ms. Fox had asked a light-brown-skinned candidate whether he or she was mullato, quadroon, or octaroon. The pointlessness and offensiveness of the query would have been the same.
I am very interested in hearing from you if this person, Ms. Fox, is still employed by your otherwise non-anti-semitic news operation and if so, why? Do the questions of an anti-semite need to find air time on your channel? Is it your station’s policy to determine and report to its viewers whether or not any public figures have Jewish ancestors? What possible public service can this provide to anyone but bigots?
I hope you will provide me some answers with substance to what any person would agree to be some serious questions.
September 19th, 2006 at 1:46 pmOn the buttocks? Nay, sire, on the frigging forehead. Not that it would make very much difference, really. She has applied a white-hot brand of shame to her own forehead. To everyone outside her circle of journaljizzer friends, anyway.
I sure hope she interviews me someday, just so I can give her the WaPo salute. Looks exactly like the National Socialist salute, only you have to say “Fourth Estate!” or “Fifth Column!” in German, vice “Zieg heil!”
Female journalist…or, in this case, tits in a chair.
Not saying that you absolutely have to be stupid to be antisemitic, but it certainly helps. I AM glad to know that the Washington Post is “Judenfrei”, though. What a relief to know that my news from D.C. is entirely free of that pesky Jooish influence to muddy the waters of progressive news vending with nuan……, er, bias.
If she does happen to get fired because of this Freudian slip (unlikely!), she still has a job all lined up: a brood mare for the Nazi compounds in Idaho.
Don’t worry, I am sure they will issue her apology in 7 point courier font on page D 25, sandwiched between the personals and the underwear ads. It still counts, dammit! She said she’s sorry! What is your problem, anyway?!?
Fourth Estate!

September 19th, 2006 at 3:07 pmDear Sirs
I refer to this debate
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/video/2006/09/18/VI2006091800669.html
and wish to poilitely ask exactly what relevance, if any, a persons religion or past has to do with a debate regarding issues for public office. As an Australian, as a member of a free society, I am both shocked and repulsed by what has to be the most asinine, irrelevant and idiotic question in all of journalistic history.
I CAN say for a fact, that had that been anyone else than the gracious gentleman on the podium that day, the response to such a question would not have been anywhere NEAR as diplomatic or polite.
Believe me sirs, when I tell you that what I said on viewing this, was not fit for publication or polite company.
Sirs…is this the standard of your organisation? Do questions asked by your reporters often publically query the religious or racial ancestry of candidates???
“It has been reported your grandfather Felix, whom you were given your middle name for, was Jewish. Could you please tell us whether your forebears include Jews and, if so, at which point Jewish identity might have ended?”
Will questions like this be asked at a Presidential debate??? Is this what the Post believes is newsworthy???
You should also be aware that this incident is not isolated to the US…this clip is now being viewed WORLDWIDE.Miss Fox’s crass and uinmitigated gall has now a much wider audience. And each time the question will be asked
“Who does she work for “and the answer will be “The Washington Post”
What the HELL does anyones ancestry have to do with anything. Were you or your staff aware of this….and if not, what steps will be taken to ensure that the debacle of this debate is not repeated? I am well aware that as I am not a citizen of the US my opinion may count for very little..but I sincerely ask that this particular person be brought to task for her reprehensible conduct, reminded forcefully of the standards of the Post, and required to publically explain her actions.
Peggy Fox’s conduct was inexcusable, and does nothing for the reputation or integrity of your organisation..in a time whebn the role of the media, its objectivity, its reliabilty, it’s very reason for being is called into doubt, episodes like this do nothing to aid the cause of what is now being branded the “:mainstream media”, and in many ways, her conduct has served to bring the Post into disrepute.
Other people may now hold this woman up as an example of the Washington Post’s journalism standard…is she an accurate example of the Post? That this is how newsopapers make their stories now? What’s next, sir…”are you now or have you ever been….?
What on earth was she thinking, if she was thinking anything at all????
I PROTEST AND DEPLORE HER CONDUCT and ask that she be held responsible for her actions, publically explain her actions, publically apologise for her unbelievable gall and lack of integrity, and be held accountable by management for her disgraceful behaviour.
Can I write…or what????:p

Dear Chris,
Thank you for writing regarding Peggy Fox’s question at the debate yesterday. The point of Peggy’s question was not the Senator’s religious heritage itself, but about a report in the Jewish newspaper “the Forward” that he may avoid discussing his background because it could cost him votes and political support in Virginia.
Peggy regrets she didn’t word the question more directly about the political issue which is relevant to the campaign.
I would encourage you to look at the story on wusa9.com for more on the whole issue, including the latest statement from Senator Allen.
Thanks again for writing. Your concerns will be shared with W*USA managers and reporters.

September 20th, 2006 at 9:25 amPerhaps someday, someone will explain to the Loons of the Left and thier wonderful anti-Semitic allies that Judaism is a f**king RELIGION….NOT A RACE!
I’m a Catholic by religion…..my racial heritage is Caucasian-Korean.
What the flamin’ f**k does my ancestry have to do with anything? Or what does Sen Allen’s? This was a deliberate attempt to paint him as either a closet Jew….or an anti-Semitic Jew ashamed of his past. Either way, the reporter will be forgiven by the Loons. She was only asking a “legitimate” question you see. According to the MSM…anything goes if it hurts the GOP and Bush.
They make my ass tired.
