So what is there to say about Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) and his attempts to get into the pants of a 16-year-old boy while clogging up Sen. Stevens’ Intertubes?

Not much, other than in a just world, the slimy sack of molesting pus would be locked up in GP for a very long time, and we would make sure that ALL of the other inmates were aware of just why he was there.

But we don’t live in a just world.

That disgusting kiddie-diddling fuck will be let off the hook with community service at worst, seeing as how he belongs to the anointed elite upon the Hill that never, ever ever have to face the consequences of their actions, unlike the rest of us.

Oh well. At least he’s gone. And good riddance to sick rubbish, say we.

UPDATE: Oh, and it just keeps getting better (via LC & IB Cold Fury):

House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of some “contact” between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), and that Hastert assured him “we’re taking care of it.”

Apparently, Dennis Hastert was on the phone with Boehner right after that, because the story soon became:

“House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate “contact” between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert.”

You know, it’s bad enough that a Republican (or so he claims to be) who has been working closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (oh, the irony) is an aspiring card-carrying member of NAMBLA, but if the House Majority Leader fucking well knew about it for six months and didn’t do anything about it???

That’s it.

A pox on both their houses.

Call me “Independent” from now on.

UPDATE the 2nd: LC & IB Allahpundit raises some very good questions regarding the complicity of Republican leadership, more specifically Hastert, in “covering up” all of this. I have to agree, if I’d been Hastert and all that I had to go on were the reported messages (totally unrelated to Foley’s attempts to get into the shorts of the 16-year-old page LATER) to a Katrina survivor, I probably wouldn’t have been reaching for the tar and feathers either. They are, not knowing what we know now of Foley’s sick tendencies, what you’d properly classify as innocuous.

I have to wonder, however, why on Earth the Katrina kid’s parents would’ve considered them so inappropriate as they did if that had been all there was to them, but I’m trying to be fair here. I quote:

He wrote: “How are you weathering the hurricane. . .are you safe. . .send me a pic of you as well.”…

I’m not defending that sick bastard Foley, I’m just wondering how much Hastert knew and when he knew it. This is only related to whether or not Republican leadership was involved in covering up a crime, not whether or not Foley committed one, which the NAMBLA asshole obviously did, at least later on.

And I also have to consider whether or not ABC are trying to take a story about one asshole in dire need of castration and turning it into a general smear against ALL Republicans. Yes, I know, what a horrible thing THAT is to think. What? Our famously unbiased media trying to play politics right before the midterms? Perish the thought.

At any rate: Is Foley a disgusting pig who ought to be run out of town on a rail? Absolutely. Was the House Republican majority trying to cover for him, knowing full well what he was doing? Not so much. At least the evidence isn’t all that convincing at this point. If it turns out that they WERE complicit, then they need to be drowned in the same vat of sulphuric acid that Foley belongs in, no excuses, but at this point their complicity isn’t as clear-cut as Foley’s to say the very least.

Ted Bundy was a Republican, and the Green River Killer was a Democrat. I seriously doubt their party affiliation or political beliefs ever entered into their sick, twisted minds.

The point is, the fucknozzle did part of what he needed to do — resign immediately. The next part is to find a deep hole, dive face-first into it and bury himself up to the ankles.

Yeah, just because the pedofile is a republican and just because the scumbags who covered it up for the last six months are all republicans, doesn’t mean this is a political issue. In fact, I blame Bill Clinton for this, just like I blame him for everything else that goes wrong.

“It’s vile,” said Rep. Mark Foley, R-West Palm Beach. “It’s more sad than anything else, to see someone with such potential throw it all down the drain because of a sexual addiction.”

You’re right, Dave, it isn’t, and I’m really not trying to make it into one, actually I’m trying to make it clear that it’s the exact opposite.

I don’t care what party affiliation the sick bastard has, he needs to be dipped in tar, covered in feathers and set alight.

What I’ve since learned (see the update) is that maybe the House Republican leadership weren’t as knowledgeable about what was really going on as I initially thought which, of course, would change their role in the whole mess quite a bit. I don’t know. The facts are sketchy at this point, but my main point stands: Foley needs to have his external genitalia ripped off with a pair of pliers, and if it does turn out that the Republican leadership knew about it but hushed it down, then they need to undergo the same treatment.

In fact, Foley’s opponent already has.

Mahoney on Saturday criticized Republican leaders for not fully investigating Foley when e-mails to the 16-year-old page were brought to their attention about a year ago. Pages are high school students who attend classes under congressional supervision and work as messengers.

“It looks to me that it was more important to hold onto a seat and to hold onto power than to take care of our children,” Mahoney said. “I think that’s wrong. I think that’s what’s wrong with Washington.”

Spats, I am afraid you will find few elected officials in Washington (not to mention state governments) who can honestly believe that anything at all can be as important as holding onto power.

I fear that Slick’s disgusting performances, a few years ago, only displayed the general attitude. And at the bottom line, that is why impeachment ran off the road (i.e., let us not judge ourselves).

But we must remember that first and last, their presence up there is our responsibility.

Bismarck said it best. “Every country has the government it deserves.”

If we have a fat and flabby government of bloviating power-grabbers, influence peddlers, degenerates, and porkmeisters who would sell their own mothers to the devil for (enough) votes, it is simply because enough of us didn’t act to keep them out–while too many of us wanted them there, for reasons of their own.

Remember, it was the Conservatives who claimed the moral high ground in the last election. Wasn’t that the major reason given for why they won?

Recognize it for what it is, a political tactic to gain an advantage.

Were you expecting otherwise? Like I said, if it had been a Democrat candidate, the Republican would have been pulling all the stops out.

Isn’t Foley in a predominately Republican district? I am sure there is someone who could stand up between now and the election and give Mahoney a run for his money.

    Gals and guys, all:

Lets not have any friendly fire here. Yes, either side, given the opportunity and less than 40 days out from the election, would at least make the attempt to turn this sleezy bastard into a political issue. Doesn’t make it right, but SOMEBODY is gonna at least try. And, it may make a difference with a couple of hundred people outside of the districts of the people involved.

But, no matter how slim the stakes, as close as this election is gonna be, someone will try.

What’s missing is the example to the NEXT low life Son of a Syphlytic Whore who trys this shit with ONE OF OUR KIDS.

There is nothing that can be done by man to Mark Foley that he does not well and truly deserve. My hope is that WHEN it happens, someone puts it on YouTube. And I hope it’s a long show. Maybe, that will save some other kid.

There may be, or not.  Write-in candidates at this late point in the cycle will have a difficult time of it.  We have one here in Texas in DeLay’s old district - the write-in’s gonna have a devil of a time winning, even though the district is predominantly Republican.

I’m sure there is, which is why I’m withholding judgment for now on the involvement or acquiescence of Republican leadership. THAT part of the story is beginning to smell BIG time like your usual October Surprise, made-for-prime-time political hatchet job.

Not so with Foley, though. I don’t give a bluejay’s testicles what the age of consent is in DC or whether or not the page was “too into it” or otherwise involved in pr0n. That’s all just excuses, and I’ll have none of it.

Statutory rape is statutory rape (even if he didn’t get to home plate, there’s little doubt that he was getting ready to steal a base or two), and a legislator, of ALL people, should be aware of that and act accordingly. There are NO excuses. And that’s leaving the ethics and morals out of it altogether. It gets WORSE if we include those.

Precisely, Dave. So don’t go saying it’s not an R/D issue, because it sure as Hell™ is.

The act itself isn’t an R/D issue. That was the point I was trying to make. There are bad apples in every orchard.

But it doesn’t stop someone from politicizing it — even though it isn’t a political issue.

It was one of the reasons, but not the major one, as I recall. That would have been the referendum on the WoT.

I dunno. The WoT was just one of many issues on the board. Many people who got out to vote did so because of the specialized referendums such as gay marriage ammendments, etc.

What Foley did was wrong and good riddance. But who is the accuser (18yrs old now)? And why is he keeping insant messages? By the way the legal consent age in the District of Coloumbia is 16. Okay…

First, the kid obviously wasn’t consenting.

Second, the age of consent is usually reserved for a narrow difference of age, usually 3 -5 years. In other words, an adult of 20 or 21 could conceivably have sex with a person five years younger than him. But a 40-year-old couldn’t have sex with anyone unless they were 21 or older.

Third, I recall there was a huge hue and cry over another politician who had sex (depends what the definition of is, is :rolleyes_ee: ) with an intern — this one of legal age. The real issue was a position of power, not the fact that he had sex — and lied about it.

    Bingo!

Well, it WAS about abuse of position of power, it CERTAINLY was about lying about it, lying in a family setting is disgusting, but not quite the same as perjury, but it was ALSO about the sheer sleaziness of having sex or soliciting for it with somebody who could be your own child.

At any rate, I get your point. It’s not that it won’t be used as a political sledgehammer, it’s that lack of morals isn’t, obviously, limited to one side of the political spectrum. Not that I’ve ever thought that it was. Give somebody power and they’ll inevitably use it to get their limp dick wetted.

I just want the bastards, no matter what their political colors, hung out to dry in public view.

Im not advocating the consent age, what I am getting at is this double standard. At least Republicans who violate the law or ethics are either thrown out or head for jail(Cunningham) or resign (Delay). The Dimocrates on the other hand circle the wagons,ie. Mckinney, Jefferson,Torricelli,Kennedy, Barney Frank and the list goes on. I think the Clinton war room is in full speed now for this election. And you will see more allegations.
