So what is there to say about Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) and his attempts to get into the pants of a 16-year-old boy while clogging up Sen. Stevens’ Intertubes?
Not much, other than in a just world, the slimy sack of molesting pus would be locked up in GP for a very long time, and we would make sure that ALL of the other inmates were aware of just why he was there.
But we don’t live in a just world.
That disgusting kiddie-diddling fuck will be let off the hook with community service at worst, seeing as how he belongs to the anointed elite upon the Hill that never, ever ever have to face the consequences of their actions, unlike the rest of us.
Oh well. At least he’s gone. And good riddance to sick rubbish, say we.
UPDATE: Oh, and it just keeps getting better (via LC & IB Cold Fury):
House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of some “contact” between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.), and that Hastert assured him “we’re taking care of it.”
Apparently, Dennis Hastert was on the phone with Boehner right after that, because the story soon became:
“House Majority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) told The Washington Post last night that he had learned this spring of inappropriate “contact” between Foley and a 16-year-old page. Boehner said he then told House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.). Boehner later contacted The Post and said he could not remember whether he talked to Hastert.”
You know, it’s bad enough that a Republican (or so he claims to be) who has been working closely with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (oh, the irony) is an aspiring card-carrying member of NAMBLA, but if the House Majority Leader fucking well knew about it for six months and didn’t do anything about it???
A pox on both their houses.
Call me “Independent” from now on.
UPDATE the 2nd: LC & IB Allahpundit raises some very good questions regarding the complicity of Republican leadership, more specifically Hastert, in “covering up” all of this. I have to agree, if I’d been Hastert and all that I had to go on were the reported messages (totally unrelated to Foley’s attempts to get into the shorts of the 16-year-old page LATER) to a Katrina survivor, I probably wouldn’t have been reaching for the tar and feathers either. They are, not knowing what we know now of Foley’s sick tendencies, what you’d properly classify as innocuous.
I have to wonder, however, why on Earth the Katrina kid’s parents would’ve considered them so inappropriate as they did if that had been all there was to them, but I’m trying to be fair here. I quote:
He wrote: “How are you weathering the hurricane. . .are you safe. . .send me a pic of you as well.”…
I’m not defending that sick bastard Foley, I’m just wondering how much Hastert knew and when he knew it. This is only related to whether or not Republican leadership was involved in covering up a crime, not whether or not Foley committed one, which the NAMBLA asshole obviously did, at least later on.
And I also have to consider whether or not ABC are trying to take a story about one asshole in dire need of castration and turning it into a general smear against ALL Republicans. Yes, I know, what a horrible thing THAT is to think. What? Our famously unbiased media trying to play politics right before the midterms? Perish the thought.
At any rate: Is Foley a disgusting pig who ought to be run out of town on a rail? Absolutely. Was the House Republican majority trying to cover for him, knowing full well what he was doing? Not so much. At least the evidence isn’t all that convincing at this point. If it turns out that they WERE complicit, then they need to be drowned in the same vat of sulphuric acid that Foley belongs in, no excuses, but at this point their complicity isn’t as clear-cut as Foley’s to say the very least.
