As a result of the “Republican” Senate Majority Leader having given up on the last palatable plank of the Republican platform (no, his backpedaling and constant re-defining of what he said every damn time he’s asked isn’t convincing. Resign, asshole, resign AND apologize and we’ll listen), there is no objective reason to continue supporting the GOP. None. If they won’t fight, then they’re as worthless as their opponents, seeing as how that was the ONLY thing left that allowed us to tell the “two” parties apart.

But that, of course, won’t stop the Party Faithful from demanding that you bend over again and ask for another reaming. Politely, of course. You should NEVER bitch at your betters who are only doing what’s good for you, after all.

There are a number of arguments brought forward to support submission, much like abusive husbands always seem to be able to come up with yet another reason as to why their battered wives should just forget and forgive, since the alternatives are always SO much worse. Just learn how to eat through a straw, bitch, and don’t be such a damn sissy and run away from another beating!

Let’s just get the last one out of the way: If the best you can do to make me support you is to threaten me with the scaaaawy things that will happen if I DON’T, then piss off before I put a bullet in your dumb skull. I don’t respond well to threats, no matter how much they’re sugar-coated and camouflaged as “arguments.”

I need a reason. Give me an actual, tangible, REAL quid or you can fucking well forget about ever seeing a quo from me.

Period.

End of argument.

And don’t tell me that I’m “cutting and running” either, because I’m not. The feckless swineweasels in Washington have already done that, I’ve just decided that I’m not going to stay in the trenches if they’ve all gone home to play with their balls and bugger their constituents.

Which brings us to another, related issue: If the swinish, spineless, cowardly Republicrats in Washington have decided that it just isn’t worth it and that we can’t win anyway, then shouldn’t we start thinking about just leaving the Middle East to fester in its own shit? I mean, if none of the wet noodles in DC have the nerve and determination to see the fight through to its victorious end anyway, then what’s the point in sacrificing any more of our soldiers for a cause that the shitbirds in Congress has given up on?

No, I’m NOT screaming “quagmire”, I haven’t given up, I’m not feigning outrage and sorrow over our losses while secretly masturbating like a monkey on extasy under the table, I leave that to liberals. I still support the war, that hasn’t ever changed and never will, I’m just beginning to wonder if sacrifice makes sense if it’s only made so that the RINO yellow-bellies can have a little more time to finish sewing their white flags back in DC.

And that gave me the answer to the whole conundrum: Seeing as how the only reason that I’ve continued to support the weasels of the GOP who aren’t worthy enough to lick the boots of the lowliest member of our armed forces is that they supported the war AND considering that my support of the war is based on my support of the troops without whose selfless sacrifices we wouldn’t even be able to FIGHT one, there seems to be only one logical answer to whether or not I should hold my nose in November.

Here’s the question, addressed to all of you wonderful, brave, incredible members of our armed forces out there defending my worthless, sorry ass:

Do YOU think I should hold my nose and stick with the RINOs in November?

You’re who are on the line here, and as you know I’ve supported you to the hilt since day one. That’s never going to change. You’re the best and brightest that we have, and if there is ONE group of people left in this increasingly pussified nation whose opinion I respect, it’s you.

Do YOU believe that continuing the fight under an Administration and a Republican Party with less balls than a neutered tadpole, while bad, is better than letting the other party close to the reins of power?

The way I see it, the choice here is between voting for a party that has lost its balls (assuming that they ever had any) and will continue to pretend to fight solely to keep up appearances, a party of spineless cockroaches who spout fake patriotism while secretly yearning to run away screaming like little girls, and a party that will most assuredly retreat from the war the first chance they get.

Either way, you men and women that I respect and love more than most are the ones that will suffer the immediate consequences, so the only opinion that matters to me now is yours.

Please let me know.

If you tell me to hang in there and hold my nose in November, I’ll do it. For you.

Your opinion counts because I know you’re honorable, brave and honest. You’ve proven that so many times that I’ve lost count. Whatever the political animals on both sides of the aisle here at home may have to say from here on out matters less than whale shit to me.

YOUR opinion, on the other hand, means the world to me. It always has.

Semper Fi.

Taking our soldiers out of harms way is at least a smidge better than making them fight but not allowing them to win.

That’s what I’m currently thinking myself.

Much as I hate to bring that particular spectre up since it has been abused wildly by the Moonbats, if there was ONE thing we learned from Viet Nam it was that if you go to war with your leaders uninterested in winning, all you end up with is casualties.

That’s why it was a mistake to go into Viet Nam. NOT because it was the wrong thing to do, it was the exact RIGHT thing to do as all of the natives who’ve since risked their lives trying to get out of that hellhole will attest to, but because our so-called leaders didn’t have the stomach to fight for the win.

So we ended up with 55,000 of our nation’s finest and best killed or MIA, all for absolutely nothing.

The NVA and the VC didn’t defeat us, there’s no way in Hell they ever could have and every time they tried they got their asses kicked into next week, the enemy that defeated us were the swine in DC who were quite content with paying for their pretending to be serious with other people’s lives.

    Just as they are now.

Of course, we had no way of knowing that our leaders were a bunch of preening, selfish, cowardly fuckheads back THEN, but as they say:

“Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me TWICE, shame on ME.”

But those are just my thoughts. I’m safe at home, my duty done (and hating it), so I can speculate idly all I fucking well want to, it doesn’t ultimately matter.

What MATTERS is how our active duty personnel feel right now.

Do you, and I know that you’re reading this, prefer continuing the fight with the very real possibility that the RINOs stab you in the backs again, do YOU think it’s worth it and do YOU have faith that hanging in there, hoping for better times, is better than cutting our losses in a war that none of the idiots on Capitol Hill seem to be interested in winning right now?

It’s YOUR asses on the line, so whatever you decide is what I’ll go with.

You’ve earned it, and I owe you at least that much.

  7. thepresenceusmc Comment by thepresenceusmc UNITED STATES

Honestly, I don’t know. For example, I get to pick between Santorum (Mr. “I brought home the pork for PA”) and Casey (Mr. “My dad was pro-life, and I might be, too.”) I dig the tax cuts, but the spending is off the charts, and with spending like that, we’re doomed, “strong” economy or not.

On the war front, the “Pendleton 8″ miscarriage of justice boils my blood, and Fallujah isn’t a parking lot as it should be. If I voted today, I don’t know who I’d vote for. Another month like this last one, and it might take a vote to ‘86 the RINO’s to assuage the conscience.

  8. Emperor Misha I Comment by Emperor Misha I UNITED STATES

You’re now asking the troops to pick their poison. More technically correct, for which poison you should pick.

    I suppose you’re right in a sense.

The thing is, I have to make a decision here.

I don’t trust the press (never did), I don’t trust a single soul in Washington DC anymore, and at times I’m not so sure of myself anymore.

The only ones I do trust are you guys and the fine men and women actually out there, risking everything for us every day. And, considering that they’re the ones facing the immediate consequences of whatever might happen in November, not to mention how much they’ve already bled and suffered for us, I believe that they’re the ones whose opinion ought to matter the most to me now.

If they’ve lost faith in our current “leadership” too, then there is absolutely no way in HELL that I can support the RINOcrats any longer, in any shape, form or fashion. I don’t have the right to make that decision for them.

If, on the other hand, they haven’t, if they still believe that it’s worth it, not to mention their fucking lives, to hang in there stubbornly and support the spineless fucktards in the Stupid Party, then I don’t have the right to disregard that opinion either.

They’ve paid for that. They’ve earned that. They have more of a right to make that decision than me and, besides, I’ll never ever ONCE in my life desert my Brothers in Arms.

When I volunteered for that brotherhood many many moons ago and was accepted into it, I swore never to let them down, just as I knew that they’d never let me down.

    That oath stands.

    From now until eternity.

Talk about bad Republicans…you ought to be from Ohio.

First, Governor Taft. A weenie Republican, raised taxes and pretty much acted like a Democrat.

Senator Dewine. Remember him, part of the weenie pact that backed down on judicial nomination. Additionally, he supported the amnesty for ILLEGALS, rather than building a fence to keep the ILLEGALS out. Pretty much acted like a Democrat.

Senator Voinovich. Crying on the Senate floor because Bolton was a mean man. Another one who acts like a Democrat.

My question is, if you aren’t going to act like a Conservative and a Republican, and you act like and vote like a Democrat, then shouldn’t I just vote for a Democrat?

I see the choice this November as being between a Republican Party that won’t live up to its principles and a Democrat Party that has no principles whatsoever. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the Democrats aren’t a political party anymore, they’re a hate group.

The Dems no longer even pretend to stand for anything but regaining political control of the country at any cost, and making damned sure that if they aren’t allowed to govern the country, then nobody else will be able to. They’re like a bunch of spoiled children who, if they can’t play with the cool toys, will break them out of petty revenge…and pick fights and start malicious gossip for the hell of it.

Do you really want to see those spoiled, vicious little brats in the Party of Evil running Congress? Impeachment proceedings will be the least of it. They’ll do their level best to shut down the bloggers and conservative talk radio (”Fairness Doctrine” and “campaign finance reform,” anyone?). They’ll make sure that what little of the mainstream media that doesn’t already toe the party line keeps silent, as the Donks did with threats to pull the broadcast licenses of Sinclair Broadcasting over the “Stolen Valor” program, and ABC over “The Path to 9/11.” And they’ll basically make it a crime to disagree with them…actually, they’ve done a pretty good job of that already even as the minority party.

God knows, the Republicans haven’t given me any sort of positive reason lately to vote for them, and I wish that there was some sort of credible third-party alternative (no, the Libertarians aren’t it). I really wish that there was a credible alternative to either the spineless stupidity of the Republicans or the absolute malice of the Democrats. But I just cannot bring myself to do anything - even by not going to the polls to vote - that might let the Democrat Party back in power. Because the Democrats are perfectly willing to destroy the country as long as they get to rule what’s left.

And because if the Democrats actually manage to seize power again, it will likely take a popular armed insurrection to get them out of it.

This is a mid-term election, a local election. TELL your local Republican what they need to do.

    I will be voting Republican.

As bad as the Republicans are, Democrats are worse.
Democrats want to stop free speech - fairness doctrine, campaign spending rules to shut down bloggers, etc
Democrats want to revoke your right to own a firearm..look at ‘gun-free’ Washington DC.
Democrats will cut and run from Iraq and declare defeat. An action that will recruit 1000’s of terrorists to come here at attack us, or to attack in Europe.

As lame as the Republicans have been, they are the free world’s last hope. (a damned scary thought).

Vote Republican now and get ready for 2008.

PS. Congressional term limits - is a great idea to prevent entrenchment of congresscritters like Murtha, and others - it would create turnover and provide a more representative government.

In theory a good idea but in practice you may simply insure you get someone who won’t stay out of your way at all. As much as it sucks we are stuck with a two party system at the federal level for now. Unless you live where one canidate is assured to win a vote for a third party is, in essence, a vote for the party that least resembles that canidate’s views.

Frankly, I’m so disgusted with the entire U.S. culture, I could just spit.

And pray tell where do you find better culture? This is starting to seem like a Merle Haggard moment to me.

We’ve got people molesting and planning to molest school girls and God help us, executing children, congress-cretins sexin’ it up with boys a year older than my son, and their peers obstructing justice to let it continue.

The first part of your statement has nothing to do with government at all. How do you prevent something like that from happening at a government level without being a complete nanny state? You don’t! As sick as that bastard was it is one of the risks of a free society and I certainly hope you are not suggesting we live under any other kind of society. As for the cover up…you mean the people calling for an investigation and giving every piece of information they come across to all the right people? Or the people who apparently held onto the information waiting for the right time to damage the pervert?

It’s clearer and clearer that we’ve got to take care of our own. We can try to vote in people of good moral fiber, try to ferret out and suppress the scum wherever possible, but right now, who’s in some “position” in D.C. is about as important to me as noticing where my corgi last took a dump. Paying attention is exactly what we need to be doing. Voting is our only method of changing things at present time. If we ignore Washington we will be in an even bigger mess that we are now. It would be as if your corgi turned into an elephant overnight.

Suck it up and vote repub unless you are in an area where a dem is gauranteed the win then vote third party to insure they have a better chance next time. It’s the little whittling away we need be concerned with. We are not going to effect massive change overnight. We must carefully choose when and where we try to make change or else we shoot ourselves in the foot. If you cannot vote for then vote against.

I can’t believe that you are even HINTING that we should pull out of Iraq. I can’t believe that you even HINT at voting for a Demacommie.. What the hell has happened to you? Did you drink the special Koolaid and go to the Blue Side?

My husband has been in Iraq/Kuwait for exactly 3 years and four months and he has sacrificed a lot for this country. Hell, I’VE sacrificed a lot having to hold down the fort while he’s gone. And now you are talking about giving in? What has happened to the biggest bad-ass on the internet? Where is my great Emperor?

As a former Democrat, I finally came to my senses after 9/11. I realized that I had been living with my head shoved up my ass for way too long, and I left the Left. After hearing that one of my friends in New York had lost TEN of his closest friends, I knew I had to open my eyes and face the real world. And it ain’t pretty.
I agree that the Republicans have made a lot of mistakes while in office, but look at the alternative! Do you want this country to look like Denmark? Germany? Or any of the other weak Islamofascist-loving countries in Europe? If you are, then go right ahead and vote for the Donkeys. Watch as your individual rights are slowly taken away from you by the New Kook Order. Get ready to goose step for the “good of the People”. Forget your individuality, because according to the Loons, “we know what’s best for you”. Oh, and say bye bye to your guns. Yup, you heard me right. No more guns. Liberals think they’re icky, and want to send them to Gun Hell.

I understand that the Rhinos are not perfect. Lately they’ve been waffling, whiney and weak, but I would vote for a Republican ANY day of the week before I would support a Donkey. In fact, I’d vote for my Republican candidate if he were a squirrel…or even a squirrel turd.

I’m with Michelle Malkin on this one: I will not submit, and for me that includes submitting to the Leftist Nutjobs who want to hold hands with the terrorist butchers while singing Kumbah yah.

When my husband gets home from the the Middle East I think you two should have a little sitdown to get things straightened out. In the mean time, please get a grip and start thinking about the BIG PICTURE.

    Sincerely, Your Faithful Worshipper,
    Mistress Red

I must agree with Lady Heather and some others.

Even if this looks like a choice between mice and rats, let us remember that no one ever improved things by exchanging mice for rats.

It is easy to feel betrayed when some fence-mending Republican mushmouth tries to cater to the so-called “centrists” and “moderates” who get their politics from sound bites, newspaper headlines, and damned little else. The trouble is that there are so MANY of these clueless brickheads. Any world beyond Blockbuster, Monday night football, beach trips, kiddie soccer, Top Forty, March madness, Bud, and cousin Sammy’s weekend barbecue is more world than they want to deal with, for more than five minutes at a time anyway.

But they themselves must be dealt with by anyone who wants to win an election. No one can win an election with his hard-core faithful alone, unless you’re lucky enough to have hardly anyone else in your district, like certain urban Representatives–or well-heeled enough to have bought or bribed your necessary constituency, like certain Northeastern Senators I could mention.

Of course it is an unpalatable choice. Of course it looks like cutting cards with the devil. But just remember, the real devils are waiting in the wings, hoping and praying that we’re disgusted enough to open the doors to them.

    No, I didn’t.

I’m NOT in favor of pulling out, I’m in favor of winning this war, even if it means that we have to wipe out a significant portion of the Middle East.

The question I’m actually asking is this:

“Which one is better: Hanging in there with the RINOs, knowing full well that they’ve lost faith in the mission (if they ever HAD any, I’m not so sure anymore) and are most likely just looking for a face-saving way of surrendering to the Hadji fucks, or just cutting our losses and skipping to the credits without wasting another soldier’s sacrifice on something that our “leaders”, the lily-livered REMF civilian fucks, aren’t going to fight for anyway?”

And since the ones who will be facing the consequences, no matter what the outcome in November, are our soldiers and their loved ones, their opinion is the only one that matters to me now, so I’m asking for it.

I guess I just got part of the answer, and I thank you for taking the time :smile1_tb:

I dunno Misha, I’m having a real hard time about this too.

This Administration has put Home Security secondary to building relationships with terrorist nations.

I live about 20 miles from the Port of Miami. The Deputy Director of The Port of Miami is Khalid Salahuddin, a former member of the Nation of Islam, and a current member of the Islamic Society of North America. ISNA is an organization that serves as “an umbrella group” for hundreds of Islamic organizations in North America, some of which promote the Islamic fundamentalist doctrine of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

Salahuddin is featured on a video distributed by ISNA along with Maulana Shafayat Mohamed, the spiritual leader of Darul Aloom, the Islamic center where “dirty bomber” Jose Padilla worshipped and where Imran Mandhai and Mossa Jokhan are said to have plotted attacks on a National Guard armory and South Florida electrical power stations.

This radical Islamist, who openly supports terrorism, is the Deputy Director of the Port of Miami. Care to guess who backs him up?

The Dubai ports deal is out of the newspapers, but Dubai World Ports is in charge of the Port of Miami. That’s right, Dubai, a country whose crown prince went hunting with Osama bin Laden six months after he bombed the United States Embassies in Tanzania and Kenya, in August of 1998. Over 220 people were killed and 4000 wounded in these attacks. Al Qaeda uses Dubai for money laundering. At least one Dubai-based company owned by the Iranian government has been used by Tehran’s defense ministry to procure a key component needed for the production of nuclear weapons. The notorious AQ Khan smuggled nuclear bomb making plans and equipment out of Pakistan, through the port of Dubai and into Iran and Libya.

Speaking of Pakistan, well, Pakistan is the world’s second-largest Muslim country and is considered by this Administration to be our ally. Yet, Pakistan has led the hyperproliferation of nuclear weapons technology; Pakistan is protecting bin Laden in Waziristan, Pakistan is the headquarters of al-Qaeda and the Taliban; Pakistan recently released thousands of al-Qaeda terrorists, Pakistan gives al-Qaeda money and Pakistan has signed an agreement granting al-Qaeda terrorists sanctuary.

With allies like that, who needs enemies?

Let’s talk about CSX Railway, a major freight carrier along the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. Did you know that Dubai Ports World bought the CSX railway? Well, they did. CSX serves Alabama, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Ontario, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Terrorists are now privy to each and every security measure that this Country undertakes in our ports and our railways to keep us safe. Terrorists run our major ports and at least one major freight carrier railway. These are the same people who consider us the Great Satan, the same people who make daily calls for Death to America in their streets, their mosques, their schools and in their government run media.

Call me crazy but, with this kind of Home Security, I just don’t feel safe. Its just a matter of time before there is another major terrorist attack here in the United States, and it will be a direct result of these policies.

Would we be safer with the democrats? Of course not. But the blatant disregard for our safety that I see from both sides horrifies me. Our politicians, no matter which side of the fence they are on, do not seem to care. I don’t trust the democrats to maintain our security, and it seems obvious that I can’t trust the republicans to do so either. I can’t vote for one and I can’t vote for the other.

All this talk of rallying the troops makes my heart surge with hope. It tickles my fancy and appeals to my hopes that the GOP really will wake up.

And that’s about the time when reason kicks in. If you want to appeal to reason, let’s do just that. What has been accomplished since 1994 that can be called conservative? 12 years, and we have let one set of gun laws expire and set up some temporary tax cuts? What about the last 6 years? How would things have been different with a Democratic Congress? Could spending have been worse?

Men and women die for a war that our “third in line” for president thinks needs to be fought with pillows, nerf guns, and flowers, and we claim to be superior to the Commicrats?! Yes, reason needs to guide our steps, and the calls from Hush and Vanity are sheer emotion. Do I want Pelosi as speaker? NO! But if that causes another Reagan to rise from the ash heap that is the GOP, two years of Dem idiocy may be worth it. Either that now, or a McCain/RINO candidate in ‘08.

    Sire,

With all due respect, being a student of History, one has to learn from it.

I repeat again. We wanted to send a message to Pres. Bush 41 for going back on his promise to not raise taxes so we voted Ross Perot, or didn’t vote at all, and we got 8 years of Clinton-Gore.

Are we going to make the same mistake again? Can you imagine “House Speaker Pelosi” or Senate “Majority Leader” Reid? Do you want us to capitulate to the Islamists and socialists like Europe has done?

We can send back a majority Republican congress after November as a big “F**k you!” to the Murthas, Kennedys, the MSM, the Code Pinkos, et al by not letting this scandal taint our party as a whole.

They did it, and succeeded with Watergate and Vietnam. Are we going to let them “shame” us into not voting or voting Republican this time and “win” again?

Just think about the long term consequences long after this latest scandal is forgotten about. I see a nightmare. And if we withdraw our troops because we have a bunch of cowards in Congress who don’t want them to win, what does it tell our enemies? American lives will still be lost. Only not on the battlefield. Probably in a nuclear explosion in one of our big cities.

And I consider that a nightmare scenario.

    Sire,

I am holding my nose and voting for the lesser of two evils. I went into Carter’s totally hosed military, was energized by the great Reagan, and went through Bush the elder’s benign neglect. The Clinton years were almost as bad as the Carter for the military - no money for bullets or parts, being sent out knowing that you were less than a pawn and your six was swinging in the breeze. W. Bush has not used the military as well as he could have, but he and the Pubbies have at least made sure that bullets and parts are there. The forced cannibalization of equipment is (mostly) a thing of the past. I am retired now, but would not willingly enflict the Party of Evil on my shipmates. I will hold my nose (again!) and vote mostly for the party of Stupid.

At least the Stupid party still has the ability to be shamed. The Evil party lost that long ago. Moral turpitude is rampant in both, but still gets punished in the Stupid party when they are caught.

Well it looks to me that the problem has been pretty much defined here tonight, guys and gals. The Senate Majority Leader gives aid and comfort to the enemy, and all I’m reading is collective teeth gnashing.

For every letter/phone call/e-mail/postcard/telegraph/or smoke signal a representative or senator receives, the staff who accounts for these missives assumes 10,000 fellow constituents believe the same thing or has the same opinion.

If we wait until November to express our displeasure, we lose the battle, not the war.

Are you pissed off enough to say something to the right people? Go to http://www.senate.gov, pull open the window in the upper right corner, find your state, select your senator, and tell them that grabbing ankle is not a preferred course of action at this time. Then, pull up Senator Frist’s email address, and in polite but direct language express your unhappiness with his opinion on how to end hostilities. I imagine this works for the House as well.

We need REPUBLICANS and CONSERVATIVES in Congress. We MAY NOT need THESE Republicans and conservatives in Congress.

Last time that happened, we lost 55,000 very good, wonderful men, all so that the cowardly fucks in Washington could pretend to be fighting a war that they’d already decided to lose.

I would not trade the life on ONE American soldier for all of the 535 worthless sacks of flaccid skin in DC, as a matter of fact I’d gladly sacrifice the entire District of Columbia if it would bring ONE fallen soldier back.

It’d still be one heck of a deal.

Oh, my point. 2 of them. First, lesser of two evils, but as Ann Coulter just stated on Bill O’reilly, if Zell Miller were running against John McCain for president, she’d probably vote for Miller. But when it comes to control of congress, we have to try to push in the primaries, and then sometimes hold our noses.

Point 2: I’m reading a book loaned to me by a Viet Nam vet co-worker about Khe Sanh 1967 - 1968. The media were obsessed by parallels with Dien Bien Phu, where the French suffered a crushing defeat. We were going to lose…be slaughtered! A quagmire! Scary! Our boys being killed!

We held…big time. We won against all odds. Now, as in Viet Nam, who had their useful idiots like Hanoi Jane and John Kerry, the enemy knows how to use and manipulate the press. Don’t let them make the sacrifices be for nothing; at least not this time.

BTW, I had a friend at my first command (during Gulf War I) who was knocked to the ground in Riyadh by a scud blast. Had to have bits of gravel plucked from his knees and hands. I made the mistake of asking him if he should have been eligible for a Purple Heart. He pretty much just rolled his eyes at me. He was staying and finishing the job, not looking for chest candy or a way out.
That’s all I’ve got for now.

Depends on if Frist is your Congressman or not:

If not you ain’t voting for him anymore then you are Kennedy.

If so then by all means vote.

Your Representative is arguably more important since while they may be spending like drunken sailors in a whorehouse but the only genuine conservatives (or the majority that do exist) exist there:

Simply go to http://www.house.gov or http://www.senate.gov and go down the list of issues:

    Strong national defense or weak

    Raising taxes or cutting them

Pro illegal immigration ala Bush and the Senate or against ie Tancredo and the House

Pro gun control ie Bush and the Senate (Which legislative body was supporting the ban and which was not)

Pro Gay Gestapo agenda or not ie see California

Judicial nominees that are originalists or the 9th Circuit (That’s the Senate but unlikely to lose that)

    And so on.

Pick the top ten issues that concern you and vote aye or nay for your rep and / or senators based on that it’s not like you got a hell of a lot of sway based on any of the 535 clowns that you can’t vote for.

Frankly losing the Senate doesn’t bother me — the House does. The only legislation passed or proposed worth a damn from a conservative standpoint has been coming from there.

With regards to Bush he’s done his job from a national security and judicial nominee standpoint if the R’s want to be RINO’s in the Senate fine I can beat them in the House: the reverse is not true.

Thinking long term if the R’s are a bunch of Democrat lites till 2008 I don’t care since the Republic will survive and it would be interesting in a general election to see the D’s or RINOs beat a conservative — fat chance on illegal immigration, guns, taxes, gay agenda, abortion for birth control, federalism v socialism and last but not least the US Supreme Court getting shifted way to originalism (look atliberal judges ages)and further inroads in the judiciary.

It’s all about PRINCIPLE, and standing by those principles.

Republicans/conservatives still HAVE them but whenever they get elected AND spend more than two terms in Washington, something bizarre happens - they end up “selling their souls” to maintain their position and power.

All the great posts above are true and honest - it is necessary to continue voting for Republicans but it’s ALSO necessary to HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE to their PRINCIPLES on what makes them Republicans in the first place - and if they don’t, or if they’ve been in office too long, then get RID of them.

And as a retired USN Commander with 20 years service and 4 years as a USNA midshipman (”beat Army!”) - I see no other alternatives and believe most current military believe the same thing - what is really NEEDED is for We The People to get THAT message across to the Republicans - to make sure they STICK TO THEIR PRINCIPLES and to also make sure that We The People are watching their EVERY move, their EVERY vote, and are HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE TO US.

Having said that, this is what I think:

Those of you who are living in abject dread of a Demoscum-run gummint are forgetting one thing - the RINOs are in firm control of the Republican party in Washington, DC.

Sure, we got Roberts & Alita, but it should  have been Jan Brown and Pris Owen - and, had the Gang of 14, so assiduouly led by John-John McRINO, been slapped shitless by a conservative party with a spine,  we’d've got ‘em.

So it doesn’t matter one whit whether it’s RINOs or Demoscum in office - they’re gonna try and shove a socialist government down our throats and then expect us to beg “Please sir may I have another?”.  Only  a government that will cheerfully and in public before any & all cameras & microphones  tell Teddy the Red-Nosed Senator to turn his bullshit sideways and shove it back up his fat ass is worthy of our respect & allegiance.

Now, you can face your enemy head-on, or he can pat you on the back with a hand that holds a dagger.  Your choice.

Besides…by 2010 - assuming the Lord doesn’t come back and rapture His church by then - this country will either be firmly enmeshed in the Second Civil War, or teetering on the brink thereof.

And it doesn’t matter who’s in power then - if it’s the Left, we right-thinkers will be on the march.  And if it’s the Right, then the Left by then will have been driven sufficiently batshit that they’ll start it.

(And if this country is attacked again by the Islamonazi ragheads, all bets are off, ’cause it’ll start right then & there.)

So my best advice to all you LCs, therefore, is to start hoarding ammo as if it were food.  It’s gonna be that important someday.

    Dear Emperor:
I don’t know if I copied and pasted your quote correctly, but here goes….

I don’t believe that the Rinos have lost faith in the mission, they are just being beaten down, over and over by the Socialist, Peace at any Cost MSM. Yes, many Rhinos have bent over and grabbed their ankles for votes, but after they got up, they pulled up their pants and got back to the Mission. You just don’t hear about it. I do, from my husband who is in the middle of it all, and has had contact from many many Republicans who give their support. Why isn’t that big news? The Left has hijacked the press.

The soldiers are SICK of hearing this kind of whining from Americans. They see the weakness on CNN and Al Jizzizm (the only channels they can get for the most part). They want SUPPORT from us, not a bunch of drivel about Dubai ports(By the way, my husband says that Dubai, the only semi-Westernized country in the MidEast is the best friend we could have, in many ways acting as our “middle man”).

I have two soldiers that I correspond with through Soldiers Angels, and both guys have 20+ years in the Army. They want to hear “Keep up the good work, soldier”. They want to hear, “We’re proud of you, soldier”. They don’t want to hear all of this complaining about who said what in the fricking House or Senate. They DON’T CARE!!!! They want to know that Americans, whom they fight for, are watching their backs, not harping on every mistake they make. They have to deal–on a daily basis–with a culture and a people that are so foreign to them that they feel like they’re on Mars, and all they hear is complaints from the American public. Patience is a virtue, and we have none…

Just shut up about the stupid comments made by the boo hoo babies that we call Senators and Congressmen, and stand up for our SOLDIERS.
THEY don’t plan on losing this war, only WE plan on that.

I will never lose my faith in the soldiers who fight for me, and neither should any of you. Start thinking positive. Start showing a sense of hope.

The problem, as stated by many here is that even though the RINOs have abandoned the principles that we elected them on, do the Democrats offer an alternative.

Maybe here or there, the odd decent Democrat might exist, but on the whole, the Democrats are the party of Pelosi, Murtha, Kennedy, Frank, Boxer, Kerry….

They are the party that carries the banner of the late sixties hippie’s, communism, socialism, atheism.

They are the party that thinks there is no difference between the Declaration of Independence and Mao’s little red book.

They are the party that hates their own country.

They are the party that is shoving a religion down our throats, but it isn’t Christianity.

They are the party that can’t seem to be motivated to defend their own country (because they hate it). What would it take to make the left want to defend their nation? A 100,000 dead? A million dead?

They are the party whose morals can be defined by abortion, gay marriage, starving a woman to death in Florida, and calling bad good and good bad.

They are the party that can’t say American values are superior to Islamic values (or communism), because of their belief in the moral equivalence of all societies.

They are party that would throw away our Western heritage of individual freedoms (Locke), a Republican framework of government (Montesquieu, Machiavelli, Hume), and a rational view of the world for socialism.

Think about it this way, the Senate took so much heat from its conservative base that we actually got the beginnings of a fence and no amnesty to be seen.

I’m not sure I could sleep at night knowing that I let the traitorous bastards, known as democrats, get control of our government because my anger at the GOP demanded that I make a “point” by not voting, or voting for third party candidates. I’ll vote GOP (and wince when I do so) because there are good men and women dying in shit holes like Afghanistan and Iraq to ensure that I keep that sometimes distasteful right to vote.

Misha, who are running in your state and district? I know I don’t want liberals running the show while I am deployed…and that isn’t far away. I ask who it is you have a choice between because I think we should be voting for the individuals. Don’t not vote for someone that does support the war, just because the Senate majority leader is an idiot.

    #57 Caveman my friend:

People that will share, advise and counsel….or give me a friendly boot in the ass. But we stand for each other sire, be it moral, emotional or financial. When one is down the others close ranks and stand is his stead. For such is our way. I have been awed by what I have seen here…and remain very grateful to be a part of it, even if so little. But all of us matter, Misha, and count for something and share a belief stronger than almost any other…for in our case, the sum of the parts is indeed greater than the whole.

You have it right and wrong, right in that all of us matter here. You know who your friends are in our little outpost of reason, logic and most importantly shared principles in a world seemingly melting down. You have it wrong considering yourself a little part of it. I have been watching you find yourself here, taking on the dirtbags in the world starting at home as it should be.

I’ve watched you find your way, spread your wings and fly.

You’ve found yourself, don’t ever think you are considered little here.

I can assure you on bealf of the mangement and loyal commeters here, you count equally as we all do.

See there’s a difference to be found here. We can snarl and nip at each other as a pack. Yet remain friends, brothers and sisters in a common goal, sharing core values.

Packs, while acting as individuals, stick with the group. Our detractors and enemies are herds, led around the wilderness with no guiding compass and no tolerance for individual disagreements, stay in the herd, don’t ask questions and wander about until smarter, organized packs slaughter you.

    A subtle, yet crucial difference.

This little corner of the world is small, yet firm, reliable allies are with you. Don’t discount your contribution at all my friend. Stick around and we can weather the impending storm, somehow, some way. But we will prevail.

Thanks, Brother. Keep up the good fight. Regardless of the outcome, you DID make a difference. :clap_tb:

    Hi all,
I support voting for the democrats. This comes as no surprise to any of you. But the reason I do is the reason that comes to mind from reading the Federalist Papers, and Madison’s arguments concerning factionalism.

The basic point is that our system of government works better when there is some accountability for politicians. And for almost six years, there has been very little. The lack of accountability can be laid, in large measure, at the feet of a congress and executive that are both of the same party–there is no real “checks and balances” anymore–except for the Supreme Court, and that is likely to go the same way as well.

Niskanen, a conservative, makes the point pretty clearly–divided government keeps government excess down. The latest issue of the Washington Monthly has articles by eight blue blood conservatives, who all argue that it is time for the GOP to lose one or both hoses of Congress–for the good of the country.

What they argue is that–more or less–the GOP has lost its way, has been corrupted by the political process it attempted to reform and is now the entrenched party of special interests–just like the Democrats were a few years ago.

What they also argue is that it is not a choice between a bad bunch and a worse (or better) bunch. Far from it. What they argue is that divided government changes the whole dynamic. Now, the executive has to get its act together–it hasn’t had to do this in a long, long, time (and it hasn’t had its act together for a long time as a consequence). It would also make the Democrats have to take some responsibility for providing solutions, instead of harping from the bleechers. They are also confident that the Dems will screw it all up, and that the Republicans will be in good shape to get the Presidency in 2008. I am not so sure of that, but…

  67. Emperor Misha I Comment by Emperor Misha I UNITED STATES

Well, let’s take a look at the scoreboard so far:

The “Hold Your Nosers” are enjoying a comfortable lead, I dare say and, much more, it is turning out to be an extremely good debate with much substance and precious little “booga, booga.”

Also, I’m glad to see that pretty much nobody misunderstood my question. It’s most emphatically NOT “is the war worth fighting?” It always was, always will be. At least in my opinion. I’M not going wobbly on the war or my support for the mission, it’ll be Winter Olympics time in Hell before that happens, but the thimblebrained gasbags in Washington obviously have.

The question was and remains “what’s the lesser of two evils? Continuing to vote for a bunch of spineless weasels and thus prolong a war that they have absolutely no intentions of winning, or just not giving a damn about them either way, thus risking the takeover of a different bunch of spineless weasels who at least are HONEST about not wanting to win, thus cutting our losses in the short run.”

It’s not an easy question, and I’ve had it with the constant ass-reamings from the RINO fucktards, so that’s why I find myself in one of those extremely rare and unfamiliar moments when I’m throwing my hands in the air, saying “who gives a fuck? Anybody out there who can give me one good reason why one is preferable over the other, because I’m frankly past caring?”

And obviously, I turn primarily to the ones with the most at stake, the ones who will be living with the most dangerous consequences of the outcome in November, the ones who I’ve always supported with every last fibre of my being, without reservation or question, the troops. And that’s nothing new, by the way. All along the way, since the MSM first started telling us about “quagmires”, “unwinnable wars” and “horrible casualties”, my philosophy has been this:

Those jackasses don’t have the first clue about what’s REALLY going on, so their opinions matter less to me than last month’s burrito. If those over THERE, on the other hand, start singing that tune, THEN I’ll listen. But as long as they’re on board, I’m on board too. Who would you ask about heart surgery? A cardiologist or the toothless panhandler on the corner?

Besides, our troops are doing one heck of a job and I’m damn proud of every single one of them. They deserve every ounce of our support and, as long as there’s breath in me, they’ll have mine.

Which is yet ANOTHER reason why I hate the lying, opportunist, gutless gimps in Washington with a purple passion, because THEY obviously don’t agree with that, no matter how much worthless, dishonest lip service they pay when they know somebody’s looking.

So that’s what it’s down to for me now: What do the troops want?

None of the other scare stories about Democrats in charge really touch me all that much.

    1) Tax hikes?

Listen, I hate taxes as much as any of you, if not more, but I’ve lived in a country where the gummint grabbed 75% of everything I earned and I still somehow managed to not live in cardboard box in the nearest sewer, so it’d take one heck of a tax hike to make me fear for the future of humanity. No, I’m not saying that I won’t hate every second of it, because I will, I’m just saying that I know how to survive in a system like that.

    2) Gun grabbing?

Come git ‘em, Demoscum. I’m sure you want to, you might even try and, heaven knows, you might even succeed, though I find that highly doubtful. 80 million pissed off gun owners is a force to be reckoned with, so even if you manage to pull it off, you’ll know you’ve been somewhere. Sure, they’ll come up with various and sundry irritating laws, and I will break every single motherfucking one of them, but I somehow don’t think that they feel up to going to the mattresses over the big one, the 2nd Amendment. They know only TOO well that they’d get their carcasses well-ventilated in a heartbeat.

    3) Censoring free speech?

Hah! Oh, they’d LOVE to, I know that they would, but best of luck, particularly on Teh Intertubes. Not even the totalitarian Mullahs in Tehran have figured out how to pull that one off, so don’t tell me that you seriously believe that a bunch of effeminate pansy-asses in the Democrappic Party have come up with the solution.

No, what it all comes down to is this:

We have a choice between two parties that both have no idea about the true nature of the enemy that we’re facing and the war that we have to fight and even LESS interest in finding out and actually fighting it. They’d much rather get back to buggering interns and passing bribes and pork among each other.

Not a single motherfucking one of them I’d do anything to save from drowning, even though all I’d have to do would be to lift my foot off his head.

The ONLY difference is that ONE of them will at least pretend to keep the fight on.

So all I’m asking is “is that good enough for those of you who’ll have to do the fighting? Because if it’s good enough for YOU, then it’s good enough for me.”

And I’m beginning to have an idea of what the answer is, but please keep it rolling.

LC Wes, Imperial Mohel, so very well, sez:

But I just cannot bring myself to do anything - even by not going to the polls to vote - that might let the Democrat Party back in power. Because the Democrats are perfectly willing to destroy the country as long as they get to rule what’s left.

And because if the Democrats actually manage to seize power again, it will likely take a popular armed insurrection to get them out of it.

If the demonic rats do get to rule, they will shortly find that there isn’t that much left to do except bow toward Mecca five times a day… while wondering what to do about that smoking hole where a major US city (or three) used to be. So….

Armed insurrection? Bring it on. Sooner than later. When things come to such a pass, that’s all that’s left to us. I’m pretty sure the rank and file of the military will join us.

I do not say this lightly since anything which would so openly and irrevocably divide the Nation would also enable and encourage our enemies. Imagine the delight that Europe, Russia, China and the whole Islamic Horde would feel as we fought it out amongst ourselves, not to mention the opportunites they would have to attack us? Furthermore, if conservatives determined to defend America and advance the cause of Liberty in the world should win, would their fear cause them to react precipitously? I don’t much care. If we don’t save the Nation from itself, little else matters.

For many years I have felt that the only way to save this country is to root out the Left and its running dogs in AcadeMedia. Terminally. RINOs and the leadership vacuum exist, in part, because of the incessant hammering of the Left/Media and the indoctrination/dumbing down of the general populace. The divide is so great, the ignorance, amorality and narcissism so pervasive, that nothing less will do. When ideologies are intransigiently in diametric opposition, there can be no ‘reasonable’ accomodation. It is why humans fight. Violence has settled more disputes of this kind than all the cookie pushing, pinstripped suited, eggheaded, nuanced, dithering, pansy assed diplodinks in all of history. “Open a dialogue” my jaundiced eye! That is as futile to attempt with the Left as it is with Islam. The Enemy is the Enemy regardless of costume.

Please… do kill the messenger. Send his head back to Ms. Pisslousy on a frisby.

Only after we “build a consensus” that the Nation is actually worth defending… by eliminating or intimidating those who don’t think so… will we be able to defeat our enemies. All of them.

Considering who it is we will have to fight, how few of them there really are and how they are so lacking in principles worth dying for, it shouldn’t take all that long.

    First, Death to Socialism.

Then, defeating Islamofacism will be not nearly as difficult as it seems now. Rules of engagement? We don’ need no steeenkeeeng rules of engagement!

The discussion has been most very excellent, and thank you Sir, for making it possible.

In 2001, I said I didn’t care if President Bush bankrupted this country to fight this war, I meant it then, and I still mean it. If we give up over there, our enemies will come here sure as the Good Lord made apples. Thank G-d for our Military and those who serve.

But I believe our enemies are here already, and plotting against us. And I believe their numbers are growing.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy nut, I also believe that there have been attempts and incidents. For example, a couple of years ago, they closed a concourse here at Miami International. People were getting violently sick. Eventually, they reported that it was the result of a cleaning fluid spill and it was only reported on the local news level. No big deal, until you find out that right about the same time, the same thing happened in Texas and the same reason was given. No big deal if you knew about one, but when you know about both, you wonder.

So, our ports are important and so are our railways. Immigration is critical, if we survive the islamic threat, our immigration policies will destroy this country in 50 years anyway.

Still, I have decided that on November 7th, I will go out and vote for republicans.

I will vote for the republicans who allow our enemy to control our ports and our railways. I will vote for republicans who continue to allow us to be overwhelmed by immigrants and who will give them amnesty and tax breaks. I will vote for republicans who make alliances with terrorists.

And while I do that, I will tell myself that the democrats would be worse for this country.

But what I really think is that the only difference between the two is that with the democrats, our worst nightmare will only happen faster.

And maybe thats good enough, if we have more time, maybe something will happen that will change our fate. I hope so.

And in the meantime, I guess I will load up on the ammo, maybe buy a new rifle, go to the range more and pray more.

Again, Thank you Emporer. It has been enlightening.

I, for one would much rather do it over there than over here, even though it means leaving my family and friends for the 2nd out of three years, in my case, it is worth it. If the Demos get power, not only will they cut and run, they will then proceed to decimate the military through funding cuts, excessive regulation and “oversight” and sheer stupidity. I never would have thought in a billion years I would feel and think the way I am feeling and thinking these last few years. It didn’t happen all at once it has been a slow slide into heartache. Beginning with the vile Clintons getting away with their many cimes. Mentally holding my breath and hoping that Americans would be so outraged at what the Clinton’s did that no way would they escape their wrong doings and that they would one day be punished. But alas that really did not happen. The impeachment wss a slap on the hand and nothing more.

I have been a Republican all my life. My family the same way. Every male in my family served in the military and two Aunts as well. Three of the Uncles were career military, one serving in the Chosin, another at Battle of the Bulge where he lost a leg.

Not a day goes by that I do not think, pray and am grateful to our veterans and our troops today for my freedom.

I am mentioned the military because they are number one with me and they deserve better then they have gotten. When our leaders are too weak to give our military their support 100% and cover their six as the military covers ours in protesting and fighting for us then we are in deep shit. The weakening of our Nation is not far behind.

When I started to worry about how a vote would go for things that needed to either stay the way it should be or make things right I realized the total lack of trust I had in our elected leaders to do the right things. What the hell is that to vote for a person then worry about their kissing ass to the left and caving in and voting like a dem when they ran as a Republican. That is pretty screwed up!

I am disappointed in all the Republicans

What happened to “either for us or against us.” What happened to axis of evil. The way these various countries are treated makes no sense. If they are part of the axis of evil they have to be added to the list!!

WTF is this with saying ” he is a friend of mine” a Rep. to a Dem when WE all know the Dem would kick the Republican’s butt out of his office in the blink of an eye.

Weakness running rampant where leadership and strength needs to be.

Laws already existing for borders but hell no, do our leaders say that. NO they want to make new ones, weaker ones and kiss up to those breaking our laws. FTS

NOT listening to WE The PEOPLE and the Republican party deciding to back Rhino’s when once and awhile a good conservative will want to run but can’t because the fucking party has decided to go with the RHINO!

Yes I am ticked at Frist, and every one of them.

PC the tool of the left. Making it where a person cannot even word a home for sale there is walking distance to shopping areas. That happened to us when we moved to Florida. WTF. We had to change the verbiage because it ‘might’ offend a person that could not walk. screw this shit It is not a computer for Pete’s sake where a person has to be literal to program it. It is just an expression to show how close the shopping areas are.

And the woman that ran an add saying…” Hard Workers wanted” it was for dock work and she had a phone call from the ACLU and they told her she had to change it because it dissed those that did not work hard. WTF
What the hell was the ad supposed to say…Lazy good for nothing wanted for this job?

NO I do NOT believe in freedom of speech for the LEFT , NO more! Our guys fought for it yes, but doesn’t it mean something anymore to cross the line of treasonous things to say? Signs saying baby killer and kill your Officers and etc. in their protests! I would have arrested those people and let them know they cannot condone killing of Officers in our military. And then show them tapes of how children ARE used to carry IED that kill our troops just like in Vietnam!!!!!!!

And people like Kerry, Hanoi Jane etc. getting away with their treasonous acts, words you name it. NO NO NO, I would never allow that to have happened.

What happened to traitors being put to death anyway. It used to be like that. The Rosenberg’s were in 1953 and we sure as heck have had others since BUT they are still enjoying their NON punishment!!

My heart is breaking. I will still vote Republican but I feel like I am voting for the devils son and the Dems are the devil himself.

    Your Majesty:

I have held my breath, waiting to see how this shakes out. Hoping against hope that this Country I love would never have to go through this again.

The way I see it, the choice here is between voting for a party that has lost its balls (assuming that they ever had any) and will continue to pretend to fight solely to keep up appearances…and a party that will most assuredly retreat from the war the first chance they get.

No, unfortunately, that is not the choice. The choice is between a party that cannot seem to discover where it left it’s balls

    .

    .

and a party that has sold it’s soul.

    That oath stands.

    From now until eternity.

I know. I swore the same, and it still stands, 13 years after discharge. There was no time limit. That’s why this feels like tearing my own heart out.

You will not hear any argument from me that the Republican’s have not been fucking up by the numbers recently. Mostly, that has been the fault of a series of cowards / appeasers / RINOs in the Senate, but there is still plenty to go around. (GROW A SET, YA FUCKING BASTARDS! Don’t try to be friends with them - how much proof do you need that the Doinks are gonna knife you in the back ANYWAY? Bring up everything. Permanent tax cuts? Make them vote. Social Security Reform? Make them vote. Don’t just make them vote on OUR stuff. Bring up their plans and make them vote on their own measures. The proudest moment for this Congress was the day they made Jack Murtha vote on his own resolution. Make them vote on every damn fool thing that they bring up. How hard is it to schedule the vote? GET THEM ON RECORD!)

Unfortunately, Majesty, we are faced with the fact that the democrats have proven that they cannot be trusted. Not on taxes. Not on guns. Not on border security. Not on foreign policy. Especially, not in the war on terror.

My political life started when I was a mere slip of a boy, working for Barry Goldwater. I spent THIRTY DAMN YEARS OF MY LIFE trying to turn out the Democrats. 1994 was a blessing from the Lord. I cannot with an easy heart stand by and allow them to come back. How hard would it be to dig the bastards out the next time?

And, Sire, please trust me on this - every one of us who stays home is exactly 1/2 of a vote for Nancy Pelosi to become speaker. You know the Doink vote stealing plans are in full force, and their turnout machine is emptying all the graveyards even as we go through this.

    _________________________

I know. I KNOW. The best thing that could happen to the Republican Party is for them to spend a couple of years in the wilderness. Maybe, that would wake them up.

But, I am NOT a Republican. I am a CONSERVATIVE. I am constrained to do what I think is best for the COUNTRY.

Fortunately, the choice for me is easier than for some. I am blessed with a pretty good Senator (George Allen), who is running against a mysogynistic, turncoat, appeasing coward. (Virginia needs to turn out the repulican senator NEXT TIME - Yes, John, I mean you!) My congresscritter ain’t too bad either (Tom Davis).

I understand, you need to make your own choice. For be it from me ever to deny that to anyone.
