When a government is obviously out of tune with the people that have given it permission to govern them, inevitably the people will take matters into their own hands.

You can quote me on that.

Another example, this time from Pahrump, Nevada (if any of you alert LCs have already tried to tip me off on this, please accept my apologies and feel free to claim credit in the comments).

PHOENIX (Reuters) - A Nevada town passed a law this week making it illegal to fly a foreign nation’s flag by itself, the latest swipe by a U.S. community at illegal immigrants.

The town council of Pahrump, which lies in the Mojave Desert west of Las Vegas, voted 3-2 on Tuesday to make flying any foreign flag above the U.S. flag or alone an offense punishable by a $50 fine and 30 hours’ community service.

To anybody who has been living under a rock, the good people of Pahrump are kind enough to point out their reasons for you:

Supporters said they passed the measure to hit back at Hispanic demonstrators who carried Mexican flags when they marched in U.S. cities earlier this year to press for rights for 10 million to 12 million illegal immigrants living in the shadows.

“All of the illegal alien protesters are waving Mexican flags, and we just got tired of it,” town board clerk Paul Willis told Reuters in a telephone interview.

“This is the United States, and the Stars and Stripes should fly supreme,” he added.

Hmmm… Looks like the displays of illegal immigrants parading unmolested in the streets while openly pledging allegiance to a foreign power (if they love it so much, then why the everloving fuck did they ever leave?) have managed to hack off a goodly number of proud Americans.

His Imperial Majesty is glad to see that he’s not alone in his anger, disgust and plain disdain for ungrateful swine like that.

This is what true “People Power” looks like, yet I’m pretty sure that we won’t find Markos “Screw ‘Em” Zuniga singing its praises.

When it became obvious, months and months ago, that the overpaid (and -bribed) crooks in DC on BOTH sides of the aisle had absolutely no interest in following the people’s demands and start enforcing the laws, when it became plain for all to see that the over-privileged, self-anointed royalty on the Potomac couldn’t care less about what the people wanted, the people without whose consent they wouldn’t be governing in the first place, when all that the outcries for justice and respect for the law garnered was repeated flipping of the fat, incumbent fingers of Washington, the anger started simmering, growing slowly with every fresh outrage.

It was obvious to anybody with a brain that eventually it would reach boiling point.

Which, of course, is why nobody in Washington noticed it. They just carried on regardless, safe in their delusion that they were in power because they were entitled to be in power, not because they’d been chosen to, and could be unchosen just as easily.

The GOP reaped the whirlwind on November 7th. Of course, true to form, they’re still firmly in denial, claiming that illegal immigration and blanket amnesty for 20 million criminals was never an issue. Part of this is because they’re terminally ClueBereft, but most of it is, I suspect, because they’d have to admit that they were wrong in order to actually learn the lesson.

And to the preening, narcissistic, grafting hacks in DC, admitting you were ever wrong about anything is a fate worse than death. Their fragile egos simply wouldn’t survive such a thing, so they plow on through the frozen, iceberg-filled waters at flank speed, confident that the Titanic will never sink.

They invent myths about how strong border security candidates were defeated, ignoring for the sake of the fantasy narrative that the GOP did all they could to stab those candidates in the back by denying funding, among other things, not to mention that the Democrat opponents they were facing were using a platform even more to the right than the incumbents.

And they’ll ignore the growing backlash too, until they and their party are either fundamentally reformed or have been turned into a footnote in the history books.

As to the Respect the Flag Law of Pahrump, I’m probably going to hack off a lot of people here, but so be it. That’s what I do, so full steam ahead and damn the torpedoes:

I fully respect and understand the reasons behind the law. I, like the good citizens of Pahrump, am mightily hacked off, furious and spitting nails at watching hordes of unwashed, criminal aliens waving the Mexican flag in our faces and even flying it higher than Old Glory at times. If they feel that they owe their allegiance to Mexico, if they feel that they’re Mexicans first and Americans second, then I suggest that they pack their fucking bags, put on their sombreros and ride their burros back across the damn border, preferably yesterday.

I have no use for them. I have no use for vermin that cannot even find it in themselves to show a minimum of respect for the nation in which they demand residents’ and citizens’ privileges. I have no use for ungrateful parasites whose way of saying “thank you” is to spit in my face. I have no use for yet another group of entitlement-addicted, divisive assclowns who have no understanding of the words E Pluribus, Unum.

“Unum” does NOT mean “a collection of cliques, gangs and identity groups fighting over special privileges and handouts.”

Nobody is saying, at least I’m not, that you shouldn’t be proud of your cultural heritage. What I am saying is that if you want to be one of us, if you want to be part of the family, if you want for yourself and your family the privileges, rights and duties of being an American, then you have to be an American. You have to accept, welcome and internalize the fact that you’re an American first, and everything else second.

If you can’t do that, if you can’t be something that you feel that you’re not, then that’s fine too.

Go be what you are somewhere else, then. Goodbye. The border is right there. Cross it. Now.

Now to the bit that might hack some people off: I also don’t believe that we need the law to enforce respect for the house you’re in.

First of all, if we have to threaten with fines, incarceration and community service for you to show common courtesy, then your “respect” is worthless.

Second, we already have far more efficient ways of showing our disdain for boors and pissants disrespecting us than laws: It’s called “shunning.” In our PC-infested, desperate to be nice to everybody regardless of merits society, we’ve largely forgotten about that, and we need to re-learn it.

If you wish to disrespect my country by flying some foreign rag, then that’s your right. Just as it is your right to tell me that I’m a moron or that my momma wears combat boots and dresses me funny. I don’t want to live in a society where you can be put in jail for being an asshole and spouting offensive crap, because a society that has to do that to command respect is not only oppressive, it’s also weak.

And I despise weakness.

So go ahead, assholes, wave your flag in my face all day long, insist on speaking Spanish, Hungarian, Finnish, French or Swahili to me, keep demonstrating to me just what an ungrateful, disrespectful, ill-mannered, uneducated, boorish peasant you are and, in turn, I will repay you by showing you all the respect and recognition that you are due:

None whatsoever.

You’re nothing to me, you’re dead to me, you might as well not even exist because, as far as I’m concerned, you don’t. You’re in complete time-out until you learn basic manners. If your house is on fire, you’ll just have to deal with it, because I’ll be sitting on my front porch drinking beer and grilling hamburgers, oblivious to the smoke and flames from next door. If your car has a flat in the middle of nowhere, learn to walk. I can’t see you there on the roadside, you’re literally non-existent to me, so I suggest you get the fuck off the shoulder before you get hurt. If you’re mugged, I won’t assist you, and I can’t testify on your behalf in court because I literally didn’t see you when it happened.

You’ve voted yourself off the island with your behavior. You’ve chosen to be outside the community of Americans to which I belong, and I will treat you in full accordance with your choice and wishes.

You’ve declared yourself an “untouchable”, and I’ll respect that choice.

So go ahead, declare yourself outside of society. Enjoy it out there because, as far as I’m concerned, you don’t exist.

I can’t see you, I can’t hear you, and I don’t care about you anymore.

Because you obviously don’t care about me or the nation that I’m proud and lucky to call “home.”

No, I won’t support a law making it illegal for you to voluntarily, through your actions, declare yourself an untouchable.

But I can assure you that you’ll end up wishing that I would have done that instead of what I will do to make my disapproval known to you.

Welcome to Hell.

Well said O Emperor. It constantly amazes me how these PC types keep trying to change the terminology from ILLEGAL to undocumented. I fail to see how someone who ignored the laws of our country and came here illegally should have any sort of rights under our laws. Thus is the meaning of the word ILLEGAL. NOT legal, ie: no legal standing whatsoever.
I see no reason that my tax money should go to support those who are in this country illegally. I especially see no reason to tolerate those that refuse to assimilate into American culture. If your loyalty is to another country above that of this nation, then by all means, return there. We don’t need you here.

Great artilce Misha as always. I lived for a long time in Vegas not far from Pahrump and have been there many times. Congrats to the residents there for having a spine - which is more than you can say for our glorious imcompetent leaders. I know the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps have been active there as well.

Up here in Carson City in N. Nevada we watched illegals march past our home near the governor’s mansion with absolute outrage and anger. Now Bush is about to throw the borders open even more and try to implement his fascist ‘one continent’ agenda - there are a whole lot of Americans who won’t stand for it. We won’t and you can certainly take that to the bank.

I do believe the Republican Party has lost their collective mind - instead of going back to their roots and working with their base, they are doing everything they can to piss them off. Stick with the old leadership until you drown I guess - we can’t even get a damned fence on the border much less get them to admit there is an undeclared war going on. They’ll have to pry our guns out of our dead hands because we won’t let this country go down the toilet without a fight and I would wager we’re not alone in those sentiments.

I’ll never understand why those who ran on strong immigration law ENFORCEMENT lost in this election, especially the good congressmen from AZ - and now we’ll see how long it takes before the Dem Congress cuts off funding for the 1/3 of a fence and when Amnesty becomes the law of the land.

Then God help us all, and RIP the United States of America.

Y’know what’s really funny? I ditched the GOP for the Libertarian party last year.

I hear all sorts of people bashing Libertarians every election year for “wasting their votes,” but you’d be surprised how many Libertarians have left the Cult of Ayn Rand over this borders issue to acquire a more mature stance because strict Libertarianism (Randian) seeks open borders, but many have realized that this is a terrible idea, as we have it now.

This issue is clearly demarcating the battle lines, and it is uniting the scattered right wing into a loose coalition. Now, we have to find a successful strategy to fight back.

I read of this development a coupla days ago. Seems we are stuck between RINOS selling us out for business interests…in a word, money. Then we have the lefty America haters, seeking to simply destroy the country. Of course they would lose out too, no doubt an appealing idea for these self styled, self hating cowards and losers. And let us not forget those democrats still believing in the myth of multi-culturalism, also unaware they will be tossed out as so much garbage after their usefulness is depleted. That part I don’t mind…it’s the rest that bothers me. As for me? Quietly watching and preparing. I determined long ago I would rather die than live under such rule and rulers, making it very simple. And would act accordingly…….

Hmmm, then this little nugget of news (part of the newly passed flag law) from the Pahrump Valley Times ought to raise another comment or two from his majesty…

    Pahrump OKs ‘English’ ordinance
THREE APPOINTED MEMBERS FORM MAJORITY; ACLU ISSUES WARNING

The Pahrump Town Board passed the so-called “English ordinance,” declaring English to be the official language of Pahrump, with a 3-2 vote Tuesday evening, Nov. 14.

Only Chairman Richard Billman and board member Laurayne Murray cast dissenting votes, with the three appointed members of the board voting to approve, which had been proposed by Michael Miraglia.

The vote was met by a torrent of cheers and applause from the supporters among the nearly 400 people that had packed into the Bob Ruud Community Center, while those opposed to the ordinance remaining seated or shaking their heads.

Emotions ran high throughout the discussion, with the crowd cheering, booing and yelling out comments throughout the evening.

The ordinance declares English is the official language of Pahrump, meaning all official documents and regulations must be in English, and also establishes regulations for the flying of the American flag.

Politics at play here or something a bit more serious?

Maybe there is something more going on in the Kingdom of Nye/Pahrump?

If your overarching government on high is getting to be CommieJapoNazi-like with the Feds and a certain respect the State with it loony courts/ACLU, maybe they are doing a little striking out on their own?

There is not enough troops….there is not enough police….they cannot even put a dent in the drug war….

What happens is municapalities, counties and townships just get tired of shit sandwiches? Just give up and do something else without telling the outside world.

    We can only hope.

I think you are correct, Crapburner. I know there aren’t enough cops, soldiers or guardsmen to pull it off. Not massive civil disobedience. That’s part and parcel of the reasoning behind the second amendment. The left loves to prattle, forgetting the cops hate their guts and the military has no use for them whatsoever. Not to mention those at home willing to behave in such a manner…they do have families here. As for the ACLU and their lackey judges……..let them try to enforce it. My wife knows how I feel, then told me she would avenge my death for defending our home. And then let them get home to what’s left of their houses and possibly families. I have not forgotten New Orleans and the gestapo cops there after Katrina. Here in Dog Patch, Kalifornia, the population is split down the middle. Spanish literature is provided, but never demanded. Folks get along, as we are all Americans and have never forgotten that. At least the permanent residents are, regardless of race. Businesses make it, catering to both sides, but all are welcomed, for such is commerce and the making of a living. Not a rich town by any stretch. When I think of the Mexican man down the street, obviously not wealthy, hanging Old Glory over his garage, his kids clean and well mannered……….it makes me smile. You ought to hear him talk about illegals……. And God help any lefty God hater here, the Mexican community likes having Christmas parties at public schools for their kids…….

Yes, HJCaveman, I do think we are going to see more and more of this by localities, especially if it is approved by voters and voluntary township/village boards. What is the 9th circuit and ACLU going to do..go after the voters with force of law and coercion (i.e. you damned peasants are so fookin’ ignorant by not letting the elites run your lives). People will vote their economic advantages. Businesses will do what they want to do.

There is not enough and never will be enough cops, guards, prison warders and mendacious bureaucrats. The 2nd amendment and the prevalence of an armed populace the USA has as opposed to a lot of the industrial West makes it very hard to shift from freen human citizens to sunjects which most Europeans are.

Comments like this HJCaveman and myself have got us probably kicked off of other blog posting boards. A lot on the conservative right is drinking the same kool-aid as the loons over on DU or Kos. They both worship power for different purposes…most of it against the citizens of our fair land.

Most people are doing what they want to do now anyhow regardless what is practiced or taught or attempted to be coerced from far capitols.

Most Mexicans are just doing what they want to do for a better life here except for the Axtlan shit types that paraded around for awhile and you see where those stunts got them. The businesses I know that bent over and took it in the arse for them are still being subtly boycotted or their services not rendered because of their economically stupid actions. I still do not buy Tyson products because of the stupidity and same for Miller Brewery products.
