Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler » Quick, Pass Us Our Smelling Salts!

…or at least pass us our Crusader Sword and our Armor of G-d, because we fear the End Times are nigh.

Why?

Well, because His Imperial Majesty is finding himself in agreement with Up-Chuck Schumer, of all people, that’s why.

If that’s not enough to make a grown man look for Porcine Airways flying past his window, then we don’t know what is.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer won new allies in Congress and the media yesterday in his campaign to raise national security concerns about a planned transfer of port operations in Newark and other key East Coast cities to a company controlled by the government of Dubai.

But they’re the RELIGION OF PEACE, haven’t you heard? Why on Earth would their control of multiple ports of entry into the U.S. be of any concern to anybody? They’re our FRIENDS, right? RIGHT? Just exactly like our friends in 15-of-19-istan, also occasionally referred to as “Saudi Arabia.”

Dubai Ports World, already a global player in port operations, acquired a stake in terminal operations in New Orleans, Miami, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Newark on Monday when shareholders approved its takeover of the British firm Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation. Critics fear the deal increases the risk of weapons or terrorists being smuggled into the United States.

Sure… As if any of our valued and most loyal friends among the Muslim nations would ever, EVER be the source of a terrorist attack. Why, it’s almost as if people are paranoically wondering if 15 of their citizens might one day fly airplanes into our office buildings or even, just to illustrate how absurd that kind of thinking is, facilitate the smuggling of a dirty bomb on, say, a container ship.

The takeover was approved by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., an interagency panel headed by the Treasury Department that can block foreign acquisitions that threaten national security.

Good thing those babboon-brained bureaucrappers weren’t in charge in 1941, or the Japanese port authorities would’ve just let Tojo’s fleet anchor at Pearl to save them the long flight over the open ocean.

The Bush administration has portrayed oil-rich Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates, as an ally in the war on terror. But Schumer and other opponents noted that one of the Sept. 11 hijack pilots came from the UAE, and the plotters moved money through that country’s financial system.

And another 15 of the hijackers came from another of our “allies”, Shoddy Retardia, so pardon us if we’re not exactly comforted by that claim either.

“The ownership of marine terminal operations by foreign companies is not at the top of my list,” [maritime security expert at the Council on Foreign Relations Stephen] Flynn said. “It distracts us from much more worthwhile efforts to build security.”

…such as making sure that no wheelchair-bound granny goes through airport security with her shoes still on.

Days like these serve to make His Majesty even happier that he doesn’t live anywhere near the Eastern Seaboard.

But by all means, let’s not distract the desk jockeys from essential tasks such as tying American citizens up in ever-lenghtening ropes of red tape by pointing out the elephant marching around in the middle of the living room.

Idiots.

I hear ya’ Misha…I just about shit when I heard of this. Is Bush an American or a globalist? I can understand Clinton selling our missile guidance technology to china..or Carter the Panama Canal to China…..but this? Fucking people endanger us, but never themselves. What will it take? Mexican border wars….would that convince the prez? In truth I fear not….disturbing at best.
I wish they knew what so many have said….
Today, driving home, my dental surgery today giving me hell, looking forward to the pain killers I had at home. Turned out to be a root canal I had done in 1970 in the Navy. The Doc wondering how such work was condoned, took him eight injections, a tire iron and a jackhammer to remove the broken remnants. “Yeah Doc, they used bailing wire and concrete.”
But driving home, Friday afternoon, paycheck on board…..A light rain, sunlight peeking through here and there, a long trek through trees, fields and fences…American farm houses, such as the one I reside in. I could not help but think of the beauty of this land, how fortunate I am to pick and choose amongst the bounty of locally grown fruits and veggies available to me at the market. And to be able to afford them too. Suddenly the Neil Diamond song, “Come to America” on the radio…..and Misha came to mind……
He knows, my mother knows, I know…..all those living under horrible regimes know……but why don’t the liberals know….?
For that matter why are we being sold out by politicians on all sides? I can only take solace in reading what I find here, knowing I am not alone. For sometimes trepidation….

Not to worry, Sire; even a stopped clock is right twice a day. So it really isn’t all that amazing that Chuck Schumer, for once in his thirty-year political career, might actually wind up on the right side of an issue for a change…

On the other hand, it would be a sure sign of th apocalypse were you and Chucky to find yourselves on the same side of the gun rights issue…

I haven’t had much luck figuring out the logic behind this decision either Caveman. This is the president who said “either you’re with us or you’re against us” isn’t it? This should make it a whole hell of a lot easier to smuggle in big BIG things that go boom…forget about the suitcase sized ones.

As much as I despise Schumer, I have to back him up on this one, there just doesn’t seem to be a winning scenario here. It is funny that he would all of a sudden get tough on the war on terror, now that the splodeys may be in charge of a New York port. Hits him right in the constituency doesn’t it?…..

heyyyyy, maybe that’s the plan, maybe ole’ W is doing this to get those traitorous dhimmicrat bastards on the right side for once in their careers…….it’s a nice thought.

I like the line about grannies getting searched at airports. I leave for Denver in the morning and remember my last time going through security at DIA. They found some kind of residue in my carry on and held me up while doing chemical tests. Found out that it was the graphite in my drawing pencils that set things off….they broke two of those $5.00 pencils to figure that one out…I’m not taking em this time, but it would be fun to print out the “blasphemous cartoons” and have them laying loose in my carry on, wouldn’t THAT make the day of all those turbaned middle eastern “security screeners” at DIA….hee hee

Hmmm, Schummer made a common sense proposal, eh?

When the specter of Communist Chinese control of the Canal became an issue earlier in the year, White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart referred to it as “the kind of silly stuff that gets out from time to time in this town.” More recently, albeit prior to Mr. Clinton’s admission against interest, the Atlanta Constitution blasted “ultraconservatives in this country” for “conjuring up the direst of outcomes once Panamanians take over the canal’s operations.” The Constitution continued: “Very soon, they say, Communist China will be in a position to seize this strategic waterway. Among the purveyors of this far-out speculation are retired Adm. Thomas Moorer, a right-wing doomsayer of long-standing; Rep. Helen Chenoweth-Hage (R-Idaho), the militia movement’s favorite congresswoman; and the John Birch Society, a Cold War relic notorious for its anti-Red paranoia

Does anyone remember Schummer commenting on this?

Obviously its not quite as serious as some towel headed outfit running various ports in this country but the Canal does still have strategic weight…

This is of GREAT concern to (all 12-15 of us left) in the US maritime industry… ;-)
Even one small dirty bomb in Bayonne or Long Beach would shut down ship traffic from here to…well, everywhere. There would be incalculable damage to our economy.
The US’ prosperity hinges more on ocean shipping than most Americans realize.

This is what you get when you allow outsourcing to multi-national corporations to go unchecked.

  16. B.C., Imperial Torturer™ Comment by B.C., Imperial Torturer™ UNITED STATES

Uh, Dave, exactly HOW do you propose to keep companies from out-sourcing? Are you going to pass laws telling people who they should and should not employ? Are you going to fine them into bankruptcy if they out-source? Are you going to pass laws telling companies that they have to buy their raw materials from certain suppliers that are more expensive, just to prop up local employment numbers?

Just wondering what your solution is to this. Seriously. E-mail me if you want.
