In this country, idolizing and propagandizing on behalf of the most murderous regime in the history of mankind will get you a Pulitzer Prize.

In Denmark, standing up for Freedom of Speech will earn you a Victor Prize.

Guess which one of those awards His Majesty has more respect for?

Copenhagen - Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which angered the Muslim world by publishing cartoons of Prophet Muhammad last year, has won a Danish critical journalism award for its initiative, the jury said.

Denmark’s largest daily was honoured with the Victor Prize for “having opened everyone’s eyes by showing how easy it is to introduce cracks in freedom of expression and how so-called political correctness is infiltrating what we believe to be inalienable rights,” Hans Engell, the editor of tabloid Ekstra Bladet which awards the prize, said during a prize ceremony in Copenhagen late on Thursday.

The Victor Prize, named for the late editor-in-chief of Ekstra Bladet Victor Andreasen, was handed to Jyllands-Posten’s editor Carsten Juste.

“This prize is awarded to Jyllands-Posten for its adamant defence for months of freedom of expression, which is under threat,” Engell told AFP.

Meanwhile, our American media are too busy publishing photos of Abu Ghraib et al to risk “offending anybody” by publishing a few cartoons.

They’ll probably get a Pulitzer for it.

They deserve this award! Newspapers should make us look at things and open discussion on events of the day are what make us strong and help people to understand. The msm around here tries to spoonfeed us their take to enhance their agenda. Plus they are cowardly pieces of shit. I had a running e-mail conversation with the reader rep of the Mpls Star Tribune about these cartoons and all I got was avoidance of the real issue and how publishing the cartoons themselves wasn’t neccessary to tell the story of said cartoons and the reaction to them. When I mentioned the new Abu Graib pic they published she said it was germaine to the story. She called the Abu Graib pic newsworthy and even got the word “torture” in the conversation. Cupid stunt!

The same one I do, Sire.
Good for them, excellent! If nothing else how about bravery in the line of fire? Contrast that to our gutless, two-faced media here. No qualms about printing pictures and stories many find ofensive and disgusting, but can’t print some G rated cartoons. Of course it may come down to a simple lack of intestinal fortitude on our the part of our media.
