As if it wasn’t enough that the Mad Mullah Muttmolesters of Tehran were openly bragging about how they’ve led everybody around by the nose while proceeding with their nuke program regardless (thanks, Trooper THX1138), now we’ve got a smoking gun pointing directly from their goat stables in Tehran to our troops in Iraq.

March 6, 2006 — U.S. military and intelligence officials tell ABC News that they have caught shipments of deadly new bombs at the Iran-Iraq border.

They are a very nasty piece of business, capable of penetrating U.S. troops’ strongest armor.

What the United States says links them to Iran are tell-tale manufacturing signatures — certain types of machine-shop welds and material indicating they are built by the same bomb factory.

“The signature is the same because they are exactly the same in production,” says explosives expert Kevin Barry. “So it’s the same make and model.”

U.S. officials say roadside bomb attacks against American forces in Iraq have become much more deadly as more and more of the Iran-designed and Iran-produced bombs have been smuggled in from the country since last October.

Doesn’t anybody in the White House know how to pronounce “casus belli” anymore?

U.S. intelligence officials say Iran is using the bombs as a way to drive up U.S. casualties in Iraq but without provoking a direct confrontation.

And since nothing apparently is provocative enough for our fearless leaders to confront the Religion of Pissers in Tehran, they could very well be right. Not even overt acts of war such as this one. But then again, this is the same White House that won’t confront Mexico about their soldiers making armed excursions across the border, so we guess we shouldn’t be too surprised.

John Negroponte, director of national intelligence, testified before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Februrary 2, saying, “Tehran’s intention to inflict pain on the United States and Iraq has been constrained by its caution to avoid giving Washington an excuse to attack it.”

Oh yes, they seem awfully scared of us, don’t they? Building nukes right under our noses while laughing at us for not doing anything about it and now exporting weapons specifically designed to kill our soldiers in Iraq.

We’d hate to see what they might do if they didn’t feel thusly “constrained.”

The U.S. Army has embarked on a crash effort to find ways to stop the bombs, according to an unclassified report issued last month. The devices are easily hidden and detonated by motion detectors — like those used in garden security lights — that cannot be jammed.

Here’s a proven method. Four letters: I - C - B - M.

But by all means, let’s just sit back and “study” how to stop them. It’s not like anybody’s getting hurt while we let the cavedwelling cocksuckers in Iran do as they please. Well, except for our soldiers, that is.

[UPDATE: LC & IB Bluto isn’t amused either].

While you’re at it, you ought to be asking that question of the spineless Republicans and treacherous Democrats in Congress. Yes, this is indeed a casus belli…except that “proof” of the acts of war committed by Iran comes from our now discredited intelligence services.

You know, the same “intelligence services” that claimed it was a “slam-dunk” case that Saddam had WMD and was hobnobbing with Al Qaeda right up until we removed Saddam from power…at which point the CIA, working hand-in-glove with the traitorous, opportunistic Democrats, claimed they’d said no such thing and the the President lied us into a war.

This is what the treason of the opposition party and its allies inside the intelligence community have brought us to: we’re going to have to go to war with Iran to remove that regime…and we’re not going to be able to convince anyone else to go out on a limb with us. Not to mention that the traitorous Democrats will immediately start trying to undermine any actions we take against Iran the way they are with Iraq.

We can - and certainly should, the way things are looking - use airstrikes to eliminate as much of Iran’s WMD facilities and leadership as we can, and also shut down its ports to keep it from exporting oil; thus economically crippling the country until saner people take over that country. However, that’s probably all we can do short of simply turning the entire country into glass. Unfortunately, IEDs aren’t quite enough of a casus belli to justify a preemptive nuclear strike.

Even if the bastards are trying to get their own nukes.

…And before you ask: As far as Iran goes, I, personally, think we ought to nuke the whole site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

Here’s how to fix this problem.

    1. Find factory
    2. Use B-2 to drop 5000 lb bomb
    3. Oops, that damn bomb factory, ahem, fertilizer plant, just went ka-boom.
    4. US sends aid to aid the poor workers out.
    5. watch the attacks dwindle.

Regarding my prior post about the problems with our Iranian “casus belli:” Here’s a little something I found over at Dafydd ab Hugh’s Big Lizards blog a while back.

Seems the CIA has been not only systematically downplaying and casting doubt on Saddam’s support of al-Qaeda…they’ve also been doing the same thing about Iranian links to them as well.

“Casus belli?” WHAT casus belli, when our own intelligence agencies and half of Congress is actively trying to undermine any actions we might take, out of sheer political malice?

Yes, I myself do believe we’ve got sufficient grounds to take the Iranians on militarily, going all the way back to 1979 and an as-yet unaddressed attack on our embassy there. Unfortunately, thanks to the Democrats and the politically compromised, ass-covering, incompetent CIA, nobody else on the planet is going to believe it…and for anything more than a few air strikes, we’ll probably need help to isolate and take down the Iranians. Which probably isn’t going to be available, thanks to the way the “loyal opposition” has ruined our credibility in foreign affairs…with the active connivance of elements of the CIA and State Department.

Which is why the first step we take in stopping Iran…ought to be a few treason trials right here at home.

I don’t disagree with your analysis, LC Wes, but the problem is that, to quote Jack, THERE’S NO TIME!

All of that should’ve been done during the 4 years where the White House stubbornly refused to participate in the information war.

We’ll have to deal with sedition and treason later, because those Mad Mullahs are about to become an intolerable and quite unmanageable threat.

Right now, Bush has to re-discover the fact that he has something called “executive powers” and start using them. If he doesn’t, the next president will have executive powers over a number of smoldering ruins.

I don’t really give a shit about his political future or reputation and even less about his future speaking engagements. It’s time to shit or get off the pot. It’s BEEN time for that for years now, while he’s been dithering and dilly-dallying in his office, refusing to fight back.

It’s a damn crying shame that he’s wasted more than four years hiding from his own shadow, not to mention the utter waste of the complete backing he had right after 9/11. When he got up on those ruins, I’d have followed him through Hell and back and I know that the majority of the American people felt the same way.

He should’ve kept that momentum. He should’ve countered every single fucking lie from the DNC and their wholly-owned subsidiaries, the MSM. He should’ve bombarded the people with fiery speeches detailing the outrages committed on a daily basis by the death cult we’re at war with. He should’ve run slide shows of muslim atrocities during the State of the Union Addresses.

Instead we got “Islam is a religion of peace”, “working with the UN”, “the Roadmap to Piss”, dubious deals with Islamic regimes and the list goes on and on and on and ON.

How the everloving Hell he and his advisors ever got the screwed up and ignorant idea that THAT was the way to keep a country on a war footing for a long war is beyond anybody with an IQ above rutabaga.

But that’s what we’ve got. There’s no time to fix it now and we have to fight with the Administration we’ve got.

Because if we don’t, we’re truly, utterly fucked.

9/11 will look like a random highway accident by comparison.

I liked the way Philip Sherwell of the Telegraph reported this story…

“From the outset, the Americans kept telling the Europeans, ‘The Iranians are lying and deceiving you and they have not told you everything.’ The Europeans used to respond, ‘We trust them’,” he said.…

Hey. Long Time Reader, first comment.

    two thoughts.

    1. Doesn’t the CIA remember what it was like in the good ole days, back when they had balls, and weren’t afraid to start a little revolution of their own? There are labor unions, demonstrators, and activists in Iran ready to make the Ayatollahs lives a living hell, and all they need are a couple internet servers, printing presses, and plenty of cash. Should be easy for the CIA to round up.

    2. We liberated Iraq, we also took over the bases of the anti-Iranian MEK terrorist group. They are defined as terrorists by us. So it seems to me we should be capable of giving them two choices. either 1. you take a one way, all expenses paid trip to Gitmo, or 2. You start hitting Iranian installations as designated by us. Including this bomb factory, and any other targets of opportunity we define. oh, and if you screw up and kill a bunch of civvies… Gitmo. So check your targets.
