…although the news from Sir Christopher and LC & IB Allah of Link Mecca certainly are of a kind destined to warm the heart of an Emperor.

U.S. officials told NBC News on Friday that American airstrikes in Pakistan overnight Thursday were aimed at the No. 2 man in the al-Qaida terror organization — Ayman al-Zawahri.

One official told NBC News that intelligence indicated a strong possibility that Zawahri was in the Pakistani village at the time of the airstrike, but there is no confirmation that he was killed.

…and until we have one, we’ll keep the champagne on ice. Rest assured, however, that there’ll be major fireworks ahead if Osama has-been Laden’s successor has been sent to enjoy his rewards at the spiky end of a demon’s dick in Hell. In the meantime, we can celebrate the high number of Jumpin’ Jihadis that were disposed of like the subhuman scum that they are:

A senior Pakistani official told the Associated Press the target was a suspected al-Qaida hideout that may have been frequented by high-level operatives, possibly including al-Zawahri.

Pakistani officials say U.S. aircraft, apparently CIA Predator drones, fired as many as 10 missiles at the residential compound.

Keep it up. We’ve got plenty where those came from.

The attack came in the Bajur region of Northwest Pakistan, along the Afghanistan border.

The CIA Predators carry as many as four Hellfire missiles. Only last month, the CIA used a Predator to kill the No. 3 man in al-Qaida in a similar Hellfire strike in Pakistan.

Killing Zawahri would be a major victory for the United States in its war on terrorism. Zawahri, not Osama bin Laden, has emerged recently as the chief operator for al-Qaida.

Which probably has quite a bit to do with the fact that Osama bin Liner has been dead for years, but don’t anybody tell the MSM. It’d break their widdle hearts.

And now to the obligatory pap from the media:

An AP reporter who visited the scene about 12 hours after what villagers said was an airstrike saw three destroyed houses, hundreds of yards apart. Villagers, who denied any links to the Taliban or al-Qaida militants, had buried at least 15 people, including women and children, and were digging for more bodies in the rubble. There were no security forces in the area.

Of course. And there was a wedding in the area too. Not to mention the baby milk factory just down the street, next to the orphanage and the convent.

Yawn.

Bad news: The terrorist tumblefuck may have evaded the missiles.

Of course, MSNBC isn’t exactly the most reliable of sources and it’s really too early to say at this point, but still… :cuss:

The AP is reporting that it was nothing but civilians and that the Pakistan Government is outraged, etc. Pretty typical fare. But what if the CIA was wrong. Delibertly wrong. I don’t see the CIA as being friendly to the Bush administration and I suspect that some elements are down right hostile; so much so that they “created” the meeting to justify an attack to embarrass the administration.
