…you know the drill.
His Imperiousness was going to make fun of the recent bloviating from the Fourth Estate Fifth Column about how it is their sacred duty to “speak truth to power” (talk about recycling laughable old memes), when we came across this (courtesy of AJ Strata), at which point we completely lost any desire to be funny at all:
KATHARINE GRAHAM, the publisher of The Washington Post who died in 2001, backed her editors through tense battles during the Watergate era. But in a 1986 speech, she warned that the media sometimes made “tragic” mistakes.
Her example was the disclosure, after the bombing of the American embassy in Beirut in 1983, that American intelligence was reading coded radio traffic between terrorist plotters in Syria and their overseers in Iran. The communications stopped, and five months later they struck again, destroying the Marine barracks in Beirut and killing 241 Americans.
“This kind of result, albeit unintentional, points up the necessity for full cooperation wherever possible between the media and the authorities,” Ms. Graham said. [Emphasis ours — Emp. Misha]
Of course, we already know that the Left Wing Nutosphere is immediately going to tell us all that the terrorists already knew that their coded traffic was being read by our intel officers and that the only reason they stopped communicating was an innocent coincidence (their radios just happened to run out of batteries all on the same day), but, and pardon us our lack of “nuance”, we have 241 reasons to take that notion, wrap it around a nail-studded Louisville slugger, shove it up their asses and resume ramming it back and forth like one of the pistons of a red-lining Porsche engine.
“Unintentional?”
Sure. We’re not in any way suggesting that the loudmouthed journaljizzmers intended for 241 Marines and countrymen to be brutally murdered, but that’s as much of a defense as me discharging every round in my firearm in the general direction of, say, Abu Musab al-Keller and then claiming that I didn’t intend to hit him in the face and spray what precious little gray matter might reside between his ears all over the wall. I don’t expect a judge and jury to pay much attention to that, unless they were criminally insane.
The fact of the matter is that this disclosure was espionage and treason.
They weren’t prosecuted for it then, but that doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be prosecuted for similar acts now.
Think about it.
241 Marines, 241 sons, fathers and brothers murdered because journaljizzmers felt the need to “speak truth to power”, breaking the laws against treason and espionage in pursuit of a Pulitzer and suffering absolutely no consequences. 241 counts of manslaughter, blissfully ignored by a nation that has clearly lost its way.
Think about it.

I personally blame Woodward & Bernstein. They wrote the Watergate report, they brought down Nixon, they won the Pulitzer. Now every journalist wants to be a Woodward or Bernstein, every journalist wants to bring down city-hall or the president of the US, win awards and become rich. And because of the need to exposure government secrets for wealth and fame, they’re exposing facts which would be better left in the dark.
July 3rd, 2006 at 3:09 pmIndeed.
The main (and very important) difference being, of course, that Woodward and Bernstein were exposing illegal behavior by the government (which is something that needs to be exposed), behavior the exposure of which wasn’t likely to get innocent people killed.
Journaljizzmers nowadays (hang them all) have forgotten that very important qualifier. It’s all about the Pulitzers, baby, and who cares if our fellow countrymen get murdered as a result?
They’re worthless. And dangerous. Just like rattlesnakes.
Now what do you do with rattlesnakes again?
Right.
Let’s get started.
July 3rd, 2006 at 3:23 pmWell dang!
I guess I should’ve waited on Misha to post this excellent observation by Senor Strata instead of me wasting the bandwidth here…
Hmmm, I guess linking to a previous post won’t work…
Oh well!
July 3rd, 2006 at 3:24 pmBut, DAMNIT people. Why can’t the people, or should I say ENOUGH of the people, see it and give a shit? Or would that be the RIGHT people, and enough of them, to do something about this? We are the chorus. We see it, THAT’S why we’re on this blog. How many don’t give a rats rectum? How many sit at home, watching the msmbs, and don’t care? I feel myself about to turn large and green in frustration! But would enough people even hear of it to be able to say “That’s right! Join in!”? So now what?
July 3rd, 2006 at 3:43 pmcmblake6 (#4) asks: “But, DAMNIT people. Why can’t the people, or should I say ENOUGH of the people, see it and give a shit?“…
Well I’ve often wondered why people today (maybe forever) don’t look at what the see, hear, or read with a critical eye anymore…
Maybe its just so much easier to say that such and such an ‘alledged authority‘ says so and why would they lie?…
I just don’t get it even though the news consumer must by now know that what is foisted off as news media is almost anything but since there is a long and inglorious track record in public to prove it…
July 3rd, 2006 at 3:56 pmAt least the late Katherine Graham acted like she learned something from the WaPo’s so-called “mistake,” which is more than you can say for Lichtblau, Risen, Keller and Little Pinchy. The big differences between the two examples are that the traitorous New York Times is totally unrepentant…and the Times will end up getting a lot more people killed than Katherine Graham did. Probably by an order or two of magnitude.
Meanwhile, by Graham’s own admission, the survivors of those 241 Marines have grounds for a class-action lawsuit against the Washington Post, for reckless endangerment at the very least.
July 3rd, 2006 at 7:14 pmMy 35 year old daughter looked at my Rope. Tree. Journalist. tee shirt that I was proudly wearing on Father’s Day and brilliantly stated, “Gee, Dad, shouldn’t you listen to the other point of view once in a while?” Heavy sigh. How do you debate that level of ignorance? At the same time, my 14 year old grandson asks me why our military isn’t crushing these orcs like the insects that they are. He and his friends give me some hope.
If this treason by the NYT had happened during WWII, citizens would probably stormed the offices of that wretched rag. But now, in the very city where three thousand Americans were slaughtered nothing happens but a lot of talk. It makes me sick.
July 3rd, 2006 at 8:30 pmIt seems Carlos “The Jackass” has shown us the link between Radical Islam and Liberalism; a sort of unholy marriage of Ché and Osama. Carlos wants all the unbelievers to join Islam in the downfall of the US. Carlos shows how our real enemy is liberalism as it creates a sort of decay in the society that rots the will of the population to defeat murderous punks.
You can say that the New York Slimes is treasonous, if you like, and I would agree, but the people that support that paper are the same people that supported it after Walter Durante won his Pulitzer: those are the people that are evil. We need to look at the people that buy the paper as the enemy. They support the people that undermine our efforts. They created the malais that gave al Qeada the opportunity.
Carlos may have even converted to Islam, but that cannot be confirmed. It does show the lengths they will go to to destroy Capitalism. And the American way.
July 3rd, 2006 at 8:36 pm“They’re worthless. And dangerous. Just like rattlesnakes.” - Emperor Darth Misha I
I beg to differ, your Emperor-ness… Unlike a piece of shit Journaljizzmer, breaded and fried rattler makes some mighty fine eating.
Breaded and fried Journaljizzmer just makes a shit sandwich.
July 3rd, 2006 at 9:50 pmI agree, with one caveat. It’s likely Woodward and Bernstein, and more likely in the case of their editors, that the driving force behind their reporting was less to do with getting to the truth, and more to do with “getting” the evil Richard Nixon. Imagine if Bush (or Reagan) had pulled any of the shenanigans that Clinton got away with during his tenure.
I no longer question their patriotism, or their motives. I already know the answer, and viewing their “reporting” through that prism is liberating.
July 3rd, 2006 at 9:59 pmRemember what happened when the *spit* Lamestream Midiots™ *spit* published the fact that Osama’s Goat-felching Fucktards For Allah™ were using satellite phones to communicate in the mountainous, cell tower-bereft areas of Crapcanistan? (Hint to the Drooling Ungulates™: They stopped using said sat-phones.)
Well, guess what the Communist News Network is shouting loudly and proudly these days?
Not only are the journaljizmers guilty of aiding and abetting the enemy, but this idiot Iraqi legislator could step right into the DNC or the editorial room of the NYSlimes and not miss a beat.
July 3rd, 2006 at 10:58 pmWhy not bring charges against the Slimes? Last I checked, treason and espionage had no statute of limitations.
July 3rd, 2006 at 11:07 pmLC Wes, Imperial Mohel (#6) says: “At least the late Katherine Graham acted like she learned something from the WaPo’s so-called “mistake,” which is more than you can say for Lichtblau, Risen, Keller and Little Pinchy“…
Well maybe just maybe Ms. Graham did learn something but its obvious that the WaPo’s Dana Priest thinks its legal to disclose classified information…
July 4th, 2006 at 4:23 amApparently Sen. Schumer has reenforced for me personally that todays Democrats are indeed the party of the Seditious & Sleazy…
The Independent Conservative noted the following: Schumer feels national security has not been compromised, although the NY Times called it a “SECRET” program!!!…
There is more, much more…
July 4th, 2006 at 4:37 amSo… when do they go to far and the populace at large takes notice?
July 4th, 2006 at 6:22 amRight about the time that a mushroom cloud rises above one of our major cities.
July 4th, 2006 at 10:53 amMy ship was offshore when the Marines got bombed in Lebanon. What a cluster that was - the sentries weren’t even allowed any bullets. Later, we fired our 5″ cannon to help break contact as our Seabees were attacked and chased back to our ships by Syrian army units. I watched as the New Jersey took our revenge - insufficient, inadequate, but still it helped. Interesting that the 4th estate was the fifth column in this case as well. Arrogant, self-centered evil greedy treasonous scum.
July 5th, 2006 at 1:23 amIf it hadn’t been for a last minute change of orders my brother would have been there.
July 5th, 2006 at 4:51 amTweell what ship were you on? I was on the USS Coral Sea CV-43 during that time.
I’m with Ann, nuke the NYT.
And I would want to be the Woodward or Bernstein in my profession.
The problem is not the reporter, it is the asshole the reporter got the story from.
As much as I hate the NY Times, no one seems to look beyond the printed page and ask where the hell did this story come from. I want the bastard that gave the story to the Times.
I want his ass in court and when found guilty of treason, I want him hung.
July 5th, 2006 at 5:09 amI would like to see that too. Which makes me curios, who in hell IS giving away details?
July 5th, 2006 at 6:25 amUSS Arkansas, CGN-41. Syria aided and augmented various groups to weaken Lebanon, but needed us out in order to take over. After the Marines were blown up, the Seabees went in to construct a more secure base. Syria moved in, ostensibly to keep the peace IIRC. The Seabees managed a fighting retreat to the shore and got taken off. One Seabee I talked to swore he was exchanging fire (not much on our side, they didn’t have squat for ammo) with Syrian regulars.
Sweat the “journalists” for their sources, then try the leakers for treason.
July 5th, 2006 at 10:24 amSneaks Wide World of Blogging 51…
Welcome to this edition of Sneaks Wide World of Blogging. This series is dedicated to the proposition that Blogging is a prime example of the saying Variety is the Spice of Life. Let’s get to the good stuff! ;-D This…
July 8th, 2006 at 4:21 am[…] Man, that’s horrible. Oh, sorry; wrong control-v there. Hang on a sec. I’m going to see if we can set up a meeting… Wonder if he’d like to feel my dick slapping him across his face. […]
July 9th, 2006 at 4:03 am[…] Death for your opponents is back. The call of the dark side never goes out of fashion. Reason falls to passion all to regularly. The call for victims to drop or enemies to hang will continue. Calls for vengeance of there are met with calls for death and worse over here. Sitting Supreme Court justices are treated like sitting ducks. Poisonous journalists should be stabbed to death with their poisoned pens. […]
July 11th, 2006 at 7:18 pm[…] In any event, this is all about Misha, right? Surely the Doucheman isn’t crass enough to use Misha’s intemperate comments to smear the entire right wing of the blogosphere … is he?! Um… yes. His homicidal formulation is a play on the more standard call of the Right for American journalists to be hanged — “Journalists. Rope. Tree. Some assembly required” — another death call which, it just so happens, Misha also issued just a few days ago. […]
