Okay, guys, here’s what Beth & I have come up with:

May 25th through May 28th, Dallas.  (By the sheerest of coincidences (yeah, right), that just happens to be Memorial Day weekend.  We are aware of the potential for disaster problems inherent therein.  On the other hand, it seems to be an excellent time to get together and hoist one (or eighteen) in honor of absent friends.)

And to make things dovetail very nicely, the future La Reina Espátula and I have decided to postpone our wedding one month, which may allow more of you to attend.  (No, nothing’s wrong - we need more time to find a house, that’s all.)  Therefore, TB07 festivities will kick off with the wedding and go from there.

More to come as things develop.  And we’ll likely be cranking up the old Blogfest site for up-to-the-minute stuff.  Keep yer eyeses peeled.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled ranting.

LC Beth, ISW (known around my neck o’ the woods as the SpatulaGoddess) was heard to utter thusly:

AyUaxe, you do realize that there are plenty of LCs who will take you up on your offer, right? Name the time and place, and you’ll probably have a swarm (especially since our annual Texas spring gathering has been postponed).

Which got me to thinking - which in itself is a dangerous proposition…   …perhaps Texas Blogfest ‘07 shouldn’t be postponed much longer.

Thus, I do hereby officially-like launch a semi-open thread:  Dallas or Austin for TB07, and when is the best time for you guys to make it?

Discuss, please.

Okay, here is a quote for you:

“I have got to go back to Arkansas,” the former president recalled telling his soon-to-be wife when they were in their final days at Yale Law School. “But I have to be in politics or I will evaporate—and that‘s what you have to do…you should go back to Chicago or move to New York…” — Bill Clinton as quoted by Newsday

Have fun with it.

I recently got an email from a PhD Candidate at Stony Brook U, asking me if I could help him out a bit with his dissertation. He’s doing some research, and he needs data.

Well, I’m such a genuinely nice guy and, besides, having written papers that required surveys and research data to be collected, I empathize a lot.

AND it’s an interesting subject, if you ask me.

So here it is:

Exploring the Role of Internet Advertising in American Politics

This survey is designed to help us understand what Americans like you think about internet advertising, modern campaigns, and politics. We are very interested in your thoughts on this matter and greatly appreciate your participation.

The Imperial Party Platform has been updated (and comments re-opened, after the automatic feature shut them down. We apologize).

Having noticed, as many of us have, our troll quality is a bit on the low side lately. But then, out of the blue comes one truly deserving, nay begging for attention. Overcome by batshit raving idiocy, the little bastard decides to poop on the carpet and make veiled threats.

Our Imperial Tobaccanist and Department of Intellingence: Cigar Intelligence Agency friend “M”, posted today entitled:

It’s not just the handguns they’re after a quite nice piece about the latest mischief out of our favorite GFW group, The Brady Bunch.

Lo and behold, a troll of particularly vile thoughts shows up, shitting on our carpet.

Quoth the Troll Pat:

I never pray for others’ ill, but today I sincerely sincerely hope and pray that you, the author and this jerk above who posted a comment should have a family member shot by someone carrying an illegal firearm.
Only when the pain hits you close to your heart you will know.
And then hunting down an animal is not manliness. Only eunuchs who are worthy of nothing better in their life, do that.
Shame on you

Nice, huh? Our little camp has been chewing him a bit, but there is plenty more left, well a few morsels. Trolls fine, veiled threats about “praying for the murder of our families“? Not happening. PERIOD. THE END.

Still and all, Patty-Boy obviously is deserving some attention from the entire pack, no?

Now Patty-Boy conveniently left us a link to his other ejaculatory spew here:

You gotta be kidding me !!!

Maybe the nice-doggies here about could pay him a visit over at CIA and his momma’s basement. I’m sure we would “just gotta be kidding him, huh?

Play nice now pups, but don’t worry, I’ll pay the tab for sterilizing the carpet.

[Hmmmm… Now, I have no way of knowing, but my gut instinct tells me that Patty-Boy may not be linking to his own site in his post. It’s not unheard of, actually, and there’s nothing to stop a troll from entering some other site’s URL when posting. At any rate, this post from “his” alleged site doesn’t strike me as something penned by a psychotic Brady Nut (for one thing, it’s friggin hilarious). But, again, I could be wrong. — Emp. M.]

[Thanks Boss, came back to add a “small” disclaimer to that effect (happens all the time too) and ya’ beat me to it-JB]

Guys, I have a situation here that’s going to preclude me making any Texas Blogfest ‘07 preparations.

No, the wedding isn’t in trouble, but my fiancée is going to need my help in handling a small problem she’s having - which, unfortunately, will leave me no time to do much of anything else, I imagine.  Therefore, TB07 is postponed until further notice.

Sorry.  I’ll let you guys know when we reschedule.

Thatisall™.

During a recent thread, the Imperial Empress (long may she bestow large amounts of firearms & ammo on the Emperor (grin)) was overheard saying thusly:

But, we are grateful to have been fortunate enough to be able to be a part of the fun! Maybe we can accomplish something similar in Texas this year as well!

Funny she should mention that.  Here’s what I have in mind:

As most of you may recall, I said:

How would you feel about a Texas Blogfest ‘07 towards the end of April? Say, the last weekend thereof? Discuss here, if you please.

(Incidentally, I’ve already discussed this with my partner in crime the SpatulaGoddess, and she rather fancies the idea.)

I’ll be telling you the reason for the April date in exactly one week’s time. Stay tuned.

So I’m a couple days late.  Sue me.

Anyway, to the point:  Four days after posting this on the 10th, I took a very lovely lady out to dinner.  At the end of the meal, I gave this lady a nice gift.  It was in a box, was round and had a cute little trinket on top.

And it had the desired effect.  Amazing how you of the feminine persuasion have this tendency to melt for these objects…

Anyway, the date we’re going to tie the knot is Friday, April 27th - Saturday the 28th if we can find a JP who’ll get up off his lazy ass take time out of his busy day that day.  I figure that this event would be a good thing around which to plan a Blogfest.

Discuss.

LCs (and Denizens, given that I’m cross-posting this over here), front & center please.

Granted the RottFest is going to be taking up a lot of your time, ammo & finances.  Not a problem.

HOWEVER…!!!

If I may ask a question to those of you who aren’t going (or, for that matter, those of you who are but can afford something else later)…

The Imperial Rebbe is involved in a contest, and it’s down to the final round now.

We needn’t tell you how righteously pee’d off Hashem would be if His anointed one were to lose, do we? He’d give you such a scourging, oy vey.

So let’s see what the Rottweilerian Chicago Voting Machine can do.

You have until tomorrow at noon.
