Worried that nobody will bother to listen to their message of high taxes, record unemployment, Cuban-style “healthcare”, defeatism and surrender, the Dem Cong are pushing to get the Fairness Doctrine brought back from the grave. (Via LC & IB Dan Riehl):

According to two members of the House Democrat Caucus, Reps. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer have informed them that they will “aggressively pursue” reinstatement of the so-called Fairness Doctrine over the next six months. In January, Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich announced that he was going to pursue the Fairness Doctrine through his Government Reform subcommittee. That announcement was greeted with silence. But now, Pelosi has moved things to the front burner.

We have an election coming up next year, after all, and since Err Amerika proved that most Americans would rather have root canals performed with a jackhammer without the benefit of anesthesia than listen to the Dem Cong drone on and on about their visions of a socialist dystopia, Stalin’s heirs in Congress sort of have to pursue “other methods” (or, as it is called in the original German, “andere Metoden.” As with most other things coming from the Dem Cong, it too sounds better in German. With a hint of an Austrian accent. True to their roots).

The decision to press for re-establishment of the Fairness Doctrine now seems to have developed for two reasons. “First, [Democrats] failed on the radio airwaves with Air America, no one wanted to listen,” says a senior adviser to Pelosi. “Conservative radio is a huge threat and political advantage for Republicans and we have had to find a way to limit it.”

Totalitarianism 101. To Hell with concepts such as the free marketplace of ideas. When the goods you’re trying to peddle won’t sell, you just force your customers to buy it. Preferably by taking over the whole marketplace and shutting the other side out entirely, but since that would most likely cause a bit of a stir right now, you can always start out by forcing the stores in the marketplace to devote half their shelves to your unsellable merchandise.

And we’ve seen it all before. Every totalitarian regime throughout history has used that playbook. It’s all about controlling the message. Control the media, control the schools, control, control, control. “For your own good” of course or, in this case, “in the interest of ‘fairness’.” How it is “fair” to force somebody to carry a message that nobody wants to listen to is, of course, beyond the ken of intelligent beings, but that is yet another page of the totalitarian handbook: Control of language. Up is down, war is peace, ignorance is wisdom and we’ve always been at war with Eurasia.

To some, this may seem like not such a big deal. “So what? They want to push their nonsense, but nobody’s going to listen to it anyway.”

Oh, but you’d be wrong, and one of the reasons that conservatives in this country keep failing in their fight against the single most virulent, murderous ideology in the history of man, socialism, is that they haven’t properly understood this. People do listen, particularly when the message is hammered home 24/7, relentlessly, from cradle to grave. It doesn’t matter how nonsensical, how self-evidently bizarre the message is, if you keep repeating it over and over again, people will internalize it. I know because you don’t even have to go back in history to see it in action, I grew up in it. You would be amazed at some of the ridiculous notions about America that are alive and well in Europe, considered to be the unquestionable truth. Not because Europeans have seen for themselves, not because they’re naturally malicious, stupid or ill-disposed toward America, but because it’s all they’ve ever heard.

They went to school and were taught from textbooks full of socialist claptrap, textbooks edited, censored and controlled by government. When they got older and started reading the news, they were treated to a grand selection of nothing but the same, written by people who’d gone through the same indoctrination process. Turn on the TV, more of the same. Every single day of their lives, from sunrise to sunset.

Or take a look right here at home. Remember the story not too long ago how they were having trouble in Florida finding a jury for the upcoming Padilla trial because too many prospective jurors hadn’t yet made their minds up about who caused friggin’ 9/11? The “sixteen words” from President Bush’s State of the Union Address in 2002? Ask a random sampling of people on the street whether Niger was mentioned in there and, on the off-chance that you find somebody who reads the news, they’ll answer “sure.”

It doesn’t matter how much of a lie it is, it doesn’t even matter that you can go look up the original text on the Internet in a matter of minutes and see that it’s a flat out lie, as long as the lie is repeated often enough, it becomes the truth sooner or later.

But you have to get the message hammered home and, in a free market, if people won’t voluntarily tune into the stations airing your lies, then you have to force the ones they do listen to to carry them.

That’s not “fairness”, that’s totalitarianism of the very first water, which is why it’s hardly a surprise that a political party like the Dem Cong, as devoted to government control of every single aspect of our lives as they are, would embrace it fully and push it every chance they get. They don’t want you to think for yourself, they don’t want you to choose for yourself, because that would threaten their dreams of total control.

“For your own good”, of course. Because they’re smarter, they’re better than you and they caaaaaaare!

They care alright, but it’s not about you.

And that’s why this is a big deal.

They’ve already grabbed control of our schools, they pretty much own the MSM, they’re itching to get their hands on healthcare so they can ensure eternal rule by having the threat of taking it away from you unless you vote for them, and they really, really want to shut up those who expose their agenda.

And they will stop at nothing to achieve that goal.

We’re sure Lugosi and Reid are upset with their allies for coming out in the open and admitting this in connection with the attack that left 3 American troops MIA:

Mohamad al-Janabi, a reputed al-Qaeda member in the nearby city of Salman Pak, said in a interview that he was unable to contact his comrades in Mahmudiyah to determine whether they were responsible for the attack.

But he added: “I can assure you that we will start pressuring Bush in a new way at the same time he is facing pressures from the Democrats and the American people. And there will be no problem to sacrifice 10 soldiers in order to abduct a single American soldier and get him on television screens begging for us to release him.” [Emphasis ours — Emp.M.]

At least al-Qaeda know who their friends are. This might be a good time to start wire-tapping Lugosi, Reid and Dean’s phones.

LC & IB Ace, as always, nails it:

Notice Al Qaeda is not pressuring us to stay, which is odd, because I keep being told that Al Qaeda loves having American troops in Iraq and Bush is “playing right into their hands.”

Question: Would these tapes be considered a “coordinated” media buy for the Democrats under McCain-Feingold? Will the FEC investigate?

Yes, the Dem Cong are objectively pro-terrorist, as George Orwell would have put it. Their every action and talking point help al-Qaeda directly, and al-Qaeda is kind enough to confirm it.

But heck, if you’re an America-hating socialist scumweasel, you have to take every endorsement you can get.

The National Socialist Democrats a.k.a. the Dem Cong continue their quest to disarm the populace so those damned peons won’t ever dare interfere with their dreams of a Statist Dystopia, this time in the form of a “watchlist” that they can throw people they don’t agree with on and then have them banned from purchasing firearms.

“Oh, but it’s only for ‘known’ terrorists”, I hear some say. Right. And we don’t have ways of dealing with known terrorists already? Known terrorists can purchase firearms as it is? I think not.

What the totalitarians in DC want is a list of people according to criteria they choose on a day-to-day basis, and if that doesn’t scare the snot out of you, then I don’t know what will.

I wouldn’t trust a Republican with that kind of power, and I most certainly will never trust a damned socialist with it.

If you do, if you don’t think that they’d evah use it to selectively disarm and rob the civil rights of groups of people that they disagree with, if you think that they’d nevah be “unfair” by targeting very specific groups, you’re quite frankly too dumb to waste oxygen. “Hate crime laws”, “Fairness Doctrine”, you name it.

Worried yet?

You should be.

Out of my cold, dead fingers…

Molon labe!

And now that we’ve cheered you all up, we feel that it’s our duty to mention something that will get your blood pressures right back up.

RCOB moment ahead (link thanks to LC MuscleDaddy):

On April 16, colleges were rocked by the news coming out of Virginia Tech.

In the aftermath, officials at Hamline University sought to comfort their 4,000 students. David Stern, the vice president for academic and student affairs, sent a campus-wide email offering extra counseling sessions for those who needed help coping.

Scheffler had a different opinion of how the university should react. Using the email handle “Tough Guy Scheffler,” Troy fired off his response: Counseling wouldn’t make students feel safer, he argued. They needed protection. And the best way to provide it would be for the university to lift its recently implemented prohibition against concealed weapons.

After stewing over the issue for two days, Scheffler sent a second email to University President Linda Hanson, reiterating his condemnation of the concealed carry ban and launching into a flood of complaints about campus diversity initiatives, which he considered reverse discrimination.

“In fact, three out of three students just in my class that are ‘minorities’ are planning on returning to Africa and all three are getting a free education on my dollar,” Scheffler wrote with thinly veiled ire. “Please stop alienating the students who are working hard every day to pay their tuition. Maybe you can instruct your staff on sensitivity towards us ‘privileged white folk.’”

So after sending two emails to faculty, Scheffler, himself a gun owner duly licensed to carry, was surely lauded for expressing his opinion, right? After all, our universities live for vigorous debate and free expression, so surely a concerned email or two from a student offering a solution to atrocities such as VA Tech would be met with approval and appreciation.

Well, not exactly:

On April 23, Scheffler received a letter informing him he’d been placed on interim suspension. To be considered for readmittance, he’d have to pay for a psychological evaluation and undergo any treatment deemed necessary, then meet with the dean of students, who would ultimately decide whether Scheffler was fit to return to the university.

The consequences were severe. Scheffler wasn’t allowed to participate in a final group project in his course on Human Resources Management, which will have a big impact on his final grade. Even if he’s reinstated, the suspension will go on his permanent record, which could hurt the aspiring law student.

“‘Oh, he’s the crazy guy that they called the cops on.’ How am I supposed to explain that to the Bar Association?” Scheffler asks.

So, for expressing an opinion, Scheffler was kicked out of school, and was told that he’ll have to pay for a psych eval to prove that he’s not insane and then go through a humiliating grovel session before his peers before he’d even have a shot at finishing the education that he has surely paid through the nose for already. Oh, and even if they do decide he has proven that a law-abiding, trained and licensed gun-owning citizen isn’t a psychotic mass murderer, his final grade and permanent record will still be fucked up.

It’s a pity that he didn’t compare Bush to Hitler or call the victims of 9/11 “Little Eichmanns” instead. They’d not only have passed him, they’d have given him tenure on the spot.

Oh, but it doesn’t end here.

After they’d expelled him, they had an armed police officer stationed outside his classroom to make sure that he didn’t come back to murder them all.

Hamline University, Minnesota.

Remember that name.

With too many people wasting valuable time on this silly global war that keeps distracting us, it’s good to see that the DemCong are finding time to address the important issues of our time:

Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act [H.R.1595 — Emp.M.] - Recognizes the suffering and the loyalty of the people of Guam during the Japanese occupation of Guam in World War II.

Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to make specified payments to: (1) living Guam residents who were killed, injured, interned, or subjected to forced labor or marches resulting from, or incident to, such occupation and subsequent liberation; and (2) survivors of compensable residents who died in war or survivors of compensable injured residents (such payments to be made after payments have been made to surviving Guam residents).

Yes. You read that right. The DemCong are demanding that the government spend your money paying reparations for the atrocities committed by the Japanese during WWII.

Presumably the 3,000 lives we sacrificed to liberate Guam from the Japanese weren’t enough for the DemCong.

Yes, liberalism IS a mental disorder.

Sarkozy wins, giving fwance one last shot at ending her death spiral down the EUnuch sewer.

And, true to her threat, the socialist sow’s followers are already rioting like crazy.

Mohamed Mechmache, President of AC Le Feu — an association created following the November 2005 riots, has ominously warned that “France did not understand the message sent during the riots in October and November of 2005.”

In Lille, just before 22h00, around 200 anarchists French youths with black flags grouped around the Grand Place and chanted “Fascist Sarko, the people will have your hide”. After pelting riot police, the demonstrators were dispersed. One demonstrator was injured.

Firemen in the south of Lille have answered 20 alarms for torched vehicles.

As always, the response of socialists to not getting their way is to rape, pillage, burn and vandalize. This should come as no surprise to anybody familiar with their particular disease of the mind, a cancer on humanity started by Marx.

And that is why they, like any other cancer, must be cut out and burned.

[Update: A few official figures on the extent of the socialists peaceful protests seething rage is available here. But not to worry, the article has the police assuring the citizens, there’s nothing at all to worry about, just move along folks, nothing to see here.

However, an internal police memo obtained by Reuters said there was no large-scale trouble there.

True to form, fwench Socialist Sow Ségolène Royal threatened with violence if she’s not the winner of the election (link via Protein Wisdom):

PARIS — France risks violence and brutality if conservative candidate Nicolas Sarkozy wins tomorrow’s presidential election, his Socialist opponent, Ségolène Royal, said yesterday.

On the last day of official campaigning, opinion polls indicated that Sarkozy was enjoying a commanding lead over Royal, who accused the former interior minister of lying and polarizing France.

“Choosing Nicolas Sarkozy would be a dangerous choice,” Royal told RTL radio.

“It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of [his] candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country,” she said.

The darling socialists haven’t changed one little bit since the Germany of the 1930s. “Vote for us or unpleasant things are bound to happen to you.”

Pressed on whether there would actually be violence, Royal said: “I think so. I think so.” She said Sarkozy’s social policies as interior minister had increased tensions in the country, referring specifically to France’s volatile suburbs hit by widespread rioting in 2005.

Of course, Sarkozy was pretty much the only soul in fwance who suggested that something actually needed to be done about the Car-BQs, while everybody else were busy trying to figure out ways of buying off the barbarians.

But now it has nothing to do with the savages that the fwench, stupid that they are, have let inside the portcullis, torching Paris because their primitive mindset can’t allow for the infidels to ever be right about anything, murdering innocents because a couple of their retarded own tried hiding from the law in a power station and got fried in the process.

Oh no, it all happened because the mooselimbs knew, in advance, that Sarkozy would suggest that maybe there’s something fundamentally wrong with dousing handicapped people with gasoline and setting them on fire because two criminals you never knew ended up killing themselves.

And, true to what Socialists are all about, the syphilitic sow are telling fwench voters that the best thing you can do, in fact the ONLY thing you can do in the face of aggression is to surrender immediately or you will deserve the outrages of the barbarian hordes. I’m so very sorry that she and her mindless followers weren’t raped to death by rampaging mooselimb hordes, because not only would it have cleansed the world of useless filth, it would also have made for great entertainment.

Allow us to quote Niccolo Machiavelli, thanks to a reminder from Hot Air:

If you yield to a threat, you do so in order to avoid war, and more often than not, you do not avoid war. For those before whom you have thus openly demeaned yourself by yielding, will not stop there, but will seek to extort further concessions, and the less they esteem you the more incensed will they become against you. On the other hand, you will find your supporters growing cooler towards you, since they will look upon you as weak or pusillanimous.

Or, as His Imperial Majesty likes to put it:

Oderint dum metuant.

“Let them hate you, as long as they fear you.”

(Thanks to LC readerjp)

If at first you don’t succeed in aiding and abetting the foreign enemies of the U.S., try and try again:

WASHINGTON, May 3 — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton proposed Thursday that Congress repeal the authority it gave President Bush in 2002 to invade Iraq, injecting presidential politics into the Congressional debate over financing the war.

Mrs. Clinton’s proposal brings her full circle on Iraq — she supported the war measure five years ago — and it sharpens her own political positioning at a time when Democrats are vying to confront the White House.

She was for it before she was against it, you see. It’s a brilliant display of the usual situational ethics for which the DemCong have become so justly infamous. Vote for anything you like, you can always pretend that you didn’t mean it later. That and, of course, her desperation at seeing her fellow candidates out-nutting the nutroots and the realization that she needs the surrender to occur on somebody else’s watch.

And, just as her perverted slimeball of a husband, she is a firm believer in “anything goes”, up to and including the usurpation of Presidential powers.

“It is time to reverse the failed policies of President Bush and to end this war as soon as possible,” Mrs. Clinton said as she joined Senator Robert C. Byrd, Democrat of West Virginia, in calling for a vote to end the authority as of Oct. 11, the fifth anniversary of the original vote.

The “failed policies” that she voted for, mind you. And how nice of her to find an ally in that slimy old racist pig, Robert KKK Byrd, the disgusting prick who once, while debating the integration of the Armed Forces, uttered the words that he would never fight…:

“with a Negro by my side. Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

That racist animal is who the DemCong refer to as “the conscience of the Senate.”

So now she and the Kleagle, a match truly made in Hell, are working to stuff the toothpaste back in the tube by revoking their war authorization in the middle of the war.

Not only is it aid and comfort to an enemy of the United States in a time of war, it’s also a classic example of why you should never trust anything the DemCong say. They’re quite willing to betray their own word as soon as they deem it profitable to their own perverted cause to do so. Their word is meaningless, worthless and their honor is non-existent.

Just keep that in mind.

(Via the Imperial Firearms Advisor, go read the whole thing).

What do you call it when “scientists” deliberately cull out data points that don’t fit the preferred conclusion, throwing out almost two centuries’ worth of precise CO2 measurements in favor of not nearly as accurate ice core proxy measurements?

Why, you call it an IPCC report on Global Warming, that’s what (please note, Gorebeciles, Mr. Jaworowski is an actual scientist with experience in the field, as opposed to an interior decorator or expert in Chinese herbal medicine).

Not to mention that an organization delaying their “scientific” report, claiming that they had to, so that:

“Changes . . . [could be] made to ensure consistency with the ‘Summary for Policymakers.’ ”

…isn’t an organization that we’d dignify with much credibility, if any at all.

One thing we did learn in school and, later, in our professional life is that if the data don’t fit the hypothesis, then the hypothesis needs work, not the data. Or, to put it another way, the job of actual science is to describe the real world based on what we can observe, not shoe-horning, finagling and falsifying what we see to fit what we have decided that the real world should be.

And if you’re caught doing the latter, your credibility is out the window and only an idiot would consider a single word you ever published credible without renewed and painstaking scrutiny to verify that you weren’t lying there as well. Most of the time, it’s easier to just disregard your work as whole and file it under “fiction.”

Of course, with the IPCC, we reached that point years ago when they first started publishing, editing out contributions that didn’t fit with their pre-determined conclusions while keeping the names of the purged scientists on the list of contributors against their protests.

This article just proves that they haven’t learned a thing. It doesn’t just prove that they’re lying, it proves that they’re lying still.

Someone might want to contact the Goreacle and tell him that his ship, the SS (Socialist Succubi) Glow Bull Worming™ is taking hits below the waterline and is taking on water like Rosie O’Donuts during PMS.

It is known as the Little Ice Age. Bitter winters blighted much of the northern hemisphere for decades in the second half of the 17th century. The French army used frozen rivers as thoroughfares to invade the Netherlands. New Yorkers walked from Manhattan to Staten Island across the frozen harbour. Sea ice surrounded Iceland for miles and the island’s population halved. It wasn’t the first time temperatures had plunged: a couple of hundred years earlier, between 1420 and 1570, a climatic downturn claimed the Viking colonies on Greenland, turning them from fertile farmlands into arctic wastelands.

Some of us have been well aware of these little tidbits of trivia that have, for some strange reason, been Inconveniently left out of the reporting Midiot Hysteria these last few years. We like to call it “being students of history“. You also forgot to mention the little part about MILLIONS OF PEOPLE STARVING TO DEATH BECAUSE OF FAILED CROPS, DUE TO COLD WEATHER.

Could the sun have been to blame? We now know that, curiously, both these mini ice ages coincided with prolonged lulls in the sun’s activity - the sunspots and dramatic flares that are driven by its powerful magnetic field.

“Now”? “Curiously”?

We’ve known about this for YEARS, yet, “curiously“, somehow AlBoron’s vaunted Undebatable Scientists of Worldwide Consensus™ have acted as if this was something that never happened and “conveniently” left any mention of it from the “non-debate“.

And would you mind refraining from using the royal “we”? That’s solely reserved for those of us in the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Thankyouverymuch.

Now some astronomers are predicting that the sun is about to enter another quiet period. With climate scientists warning that global warming is approaching a tipping point, beyond which rapid and possibly irreversible damage to our environment will be unavoidable, a calm sun and a resultant cold snap might be exactly what we need to give us breathing space to agree and enact pollution controls. “It would certainly buy us some time,” says Joanna Haigh, an atmospheric physicist at Imperial College London.

Yep. You read that paragraph right. Go back and read it again and try to see if you can wrap your brain around the twisted “logic” contained therein. Go ahead. We’ll wait… When you come back, click and continue reading below the fold. It just gets better. We promise.
