I’m sure many of you know of Pat Dollard. For those of you who don’t, the short version is that he was a Hollywood type who wanted to know the truth about Iraq, so he went and embedded with a Marine LAR platoon, on his own dime.

He filmed his time over there and has been working on a documentary about it. It is all real, unscripted, unpolished true life shit. Pat was able to get the Marines to accept him as one of them, and is evident in the film clips I have seen by the fact that they were themselves when the camera was rolling. No forced smiles. No guarding every word, no inhering distrust so evident when grunts speak to the “Media”. In fact as I watched some of it, it was like I was back in the Corps. Pat became one of them and was nearly killed in an IED attack that killed the Marines sitting on either side of him.

Pat wants to get the truth out about our brave men and the truly great work they have done, and are doing over there. Problem is that he apparently is having some “creative differences” with his producer. Pat is unequivocal about how the film will portray the Marines and his time with them. It has become his mission in life to make this documentary.

Short version of all this is that Pat needs $3,000 by Friday to keep his documentary alive. Trust me on this pups, this story needs to get out. So if y’all can find it in your hearts this Christmas season, why don’t ya help a brother out and shake loose a few shekels for a good cause. (h/t to Mike M for the heads up).

LCs, lemme borrow you guys fer a second.  Got a quextion (a little…well, it’s somebody’s  lingo, there) fer ye.

As you may or may not know, every fall the Realm™ (that’s my little corner of the Blogosphere™ for you newbies) has a weekly feature called the Perfect Football Weekend™ (if you want to learn more about it, go here; if you want to see the first installment for 2007, click on this link), where I track my four or five favorite football teams.

Here’s the interrogative:  If I were to cross-post the thing over here, say, every Friday or thereabouts, would you want to participate therein?  (Yeah, I know - I should just be begging you fine LCs to just come over there and read it, but I do that enough as it is.)

(NOTE:  By “participate”, I mean you talk your best smack about your favorite football teams.  For example, LC John Wardle will want to talk about the Washington Redskins; Humble Devildog will extol the virtues of the Wisconsin Badgers (affectionately known far & wide as “Bucky”), and we can all laugh at take pity on BC’s Tampa Bay Yuckaneers.  (They do  have Chris Simms for a quarterback, after all. (grin)))

UPDATE:  Oops.  Maybe not.  I forgot - did Simms ever recover from that perforated kidney?

Update the 2nd:  Okay, make that a ruptured spleen.

Discuss.

Update the 3rd:  LC Robert Huntingdon makes a bodacious point when he notes that:

so long as we all understand in advance that insulting language towards other teams is a given

Therefore, let it become an Imperial Edict™ (and since I’m the Imperial Sgt-at-Arms, I can do that):  Carryeth not any venom from a PFW thread into any other thread.

Consider it the Las Vegas rule:  What happens here, stays  here.

Thatisall™.

I know, you get to watch today’s episodes of “The View” and “The Jerry Springer Show” recorded by the other half, right?

There is however, an alternative. You can hop over into the “Instant Bark” to howl and growl with the denizens thereabouts.

While there, why not just crank up the speakers or plop on the headsets and listen to some fine tunes and yours truly on the RadioCIA— Tuesday Truth Rant, 7-10 pm CT or whenever I get tired and just spin the tunes. The linkage there gets you to our connect page, just select the player you have installed, Windows Media Player should work even if you don’t have the highly recommended and free Winamp.

PG programming as always, so the wee-ones don’t pick up any new invective for their vocabulary.

Thanks for the Support, It’s appreciated tremendously. —JB

Well you just might tune into some radio, ya’ know?

I’ll be on the RANT tonight over at RadioCIA. 7-10 pm CT.

The link embedded up there will take you to the “Listen Now” page and just select your player of choice, with Windows Media Player at the bottom, if you don’t have Winamp installed.

Not to worry with the off-spring in earshot, it’s strictly PG programming as always. Besides the more you tune in, the more pressure I can keep on His Rottiness from joining the CIA Network.

[Keep me from joining? Gee, thanks ;) — Emp. M.]

Thanks Rotts !!!- JB
