Well I’m glad you had fun, Jaybear. No, seriously. What you don’t believe me? It’s true. I am glad you had fun.
What I am NOT glad about is that bad refereeing can cost a team a game. EITHER way it goes. If the bungles had stunk up the joint and won from bad officiating going their way I would be a tiny bit less annoyed, but I would still be tired of the crap. This has just got to STOP. I’m sick and tired of it and all the excuses for why we can’t have a real instant replay system. I’m sick and tired of all the whiny idiots who claim it would make the game take forever… it doesn’t in college ball, and they take 20 minute TV time-outs. To say nothing of their four hour halftime. OK I’m exaggerating, but still, don’t their TV time-outs seem to take 3 times as long as the NFL ones?? How many reviews are there in college per game, five? Ten in a really bad game? And how many last more than a minute? Any? Whoop-de-do.
I’m sick of having plays be un-reviewable. There should NEVER be ANY play that cannot be reviewed, period, no iffs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. EVERY play can be reviewed, and NO team should EVER be allowed to rush to the line to prevent a review. EVER. Because rushing up to stop the clock with a spiked ball and/or no-huddle offense trying to hit the opponent while they’re reeling are both viable options and legal game strategy they should be allowed… BUT if the upstairs crew calls for a review the game should be stopped after the next play and the previous one reviewed. Now the opponent shouldn’t be able to force a review after the next play, that’s about the only part of the existing system I would keep, but the Booth should ALWAYS be able to review a suspect play for at least another 30 seconds even if that means the next play is over and done with.
Yeah, I know, hell will come into existance and promptly freeze over before this happens. But it’s what SHOULD happen. It’s what NEEDS to happen. Right now, this very week.
