I must object to your comment that people not scared wouldn’t be able to understand relevant people and situations. I am well aware of what could happen. I am not scared. The odds of my being killed in a terrorist attack or hijacking are infitismal (sp?) out of all of the people in this country. Why should I worry about myself? The odds of my dying are most likely by a car crash or one of my myriad medical conditions.
I do worry that things be safe for the country as a whole.
Speaking of screening, at Rochester, they put me in a box and hit me with puffs of air–apparently it detects chemicals (mass spec?). It sounds like a great idea–does anyone know if that is common?
Don’t think banning muslims and getting rid of security is a good idea: random psychos. I’m sure it would be great fun to hijack a plane for some people–the ultimate power trip. There are other political issues. What if a flight to Spain is taken over by Basque separatists? Flights to Columbia would face left-wing and right-wing terrorists. What about flying to Taiwan with someone who wants to protest mainland Chinese policy? What about a Falun Gong protestor on a flight to China (you know those violent Buddhists)? The world is full of trouble spots that do not involve muslims.
