well, as horrible as CA is, there is still a sizable industrial base here, especially in Los Angeles (home of the biggest West Coast port). Gas here is already $0.30-$0.50 more than the rest of the country (ask about the speeeeeshul Kalifornia gas mix to reduce emissions sometime- fewer emissions per gallon burned, BUT you lose gas mileage, exact loss depending on your vehicle, engine, and driving habits, and end up making the same or MORE emissions to cross the same distance…)
Anyway, a fifty cents a gallon gas tax would kill the seventh largest economy in the world. BUT- remember- the CA legislature has already messed up what USED TO BE the FIFTH largest economy….
