Crossing into Canada was so simple and easy, all I needed was a drivers license. They asked 1-3 questions and I was on my way, sometimes they didn't even look at my license. I crossed at both Detroit and Port Huron, both were the same way. Coming back into the US was another matter all together. The first time going over with just my license (this was just 1 year ago) trying to get into the US without my birth certificate involved many tears (involunatry) and promises of never doing that again. They almost held me until someone would bring my birth certificate. Each time coming back they ask dozens of questions, look you in the eyes while asking and being very serious about the whole thing. And I am just a little white girl. I see it as a waste of money to have the canadian boarder crossing guards there.
