You may be able to come up with a more convincing endorsement of the Hummer (no, the CAR, you naughty plebes!), but this whiny socialist fuckwad’s lament makes His Imperial Highness want to rush out and buy FOUR of them, even if he had to donate his kids’ kidneys to pay for it, which he most assuredly would (link thanks to LC Darth Bacon):

One struggles to think of a worse vehicle at a worse time. Introduced shortly after 9/11 — an event whose causes were tangled in America’s unquenchable thirst for oil

And he hits the Moonbat High “C” right off the bat, blaming 9/11, not on the terrorist swine murdering 3,000 Americans by using civilian airliners as cruise missiles, but on Us Evil Americans and our insistence on driving cars larger than the average snuff box.

Just in case you didn’t get it, the clownshoes of Time Magazine believe that you are to blame for 9/11 if you drive anything bigger than a VW Beetle. Keep that in mind when the time comes for renewing your subscription.

— the Hummer H2 sent all the wrong signals. It was/is arrogantly huge,

Not quite as “arrogantly huge” as one of the Gorebecile’s Gulfstreams, though, but let’s not talk about that.

overtly militaristic,

Major selling point right there, if you ask us. But we wouldn’t spring for an H2. Too crammed with civilian claptrap for our tastes. We’d go with an original purchased from an Army auction instead.

openly scornful of the common good.

You just can’t hope to get employed by the Marxist MSM if you don’t wail about the “common good” at least once a paragraph. The “common good” meaning, of course, whatever the self-anointed socialist elite have decided that is good for you, while meticulously avoiding placing any such restrictions on their hypocritical selves.

As a vehicle choice, the H2 was a spiteful reactionary riposte to notions that, you know, maybe we all shouldn’t be driving tanks that get 10 miles per gallon.

Beautiful way of shoving it in the face of patchouli-reeking, holier-than-thou snotweasels such as yourself too. And, as an added bonus, the inside of the H2’s cabin hardly trembles enough for your coffee to spill when you drive it over a Pious. What’s not to love?

Not surprisingly, the green-niks struck back. A Hummer dealership was torched in Southern California.

Right after blaming the deaths of 3,000 innocent Americans on people driving cars bigger than a roller skate, the Time hack proceeds to give a nod of approval to domestic terrorism.

Charming outfit, aren’t they? We suppose they won’t mind much if us “war-niks” “strike back” by locking the entire staff of Time inside corporate HQ and torch the building, then? We can bring marshmallows to offset the wasteful CO2 emissions made by the conflagration, if it will make your screaming deaths easier to endure.

The H2 was also a PR catastrophe for GM, who happened to be repossessing and crushing the few EV1 electric cars at the time. It all contributed to GM’s emerging image as the Dick Cheney of car companies.

And what a horror of PR nightmares it was too! The entire tofu-munching, unemployable, bicycle-riding hippie demographic GONE. OverNIGHT! Sales fucking plummeted!

Oh, and thanks for including the obligatory Dick Cheney reference, Time. If you hadn’t, we’d have had to give you a handful of demerits for messing up your catechism.

Fuckheads.

The original Hummers are cool, but I don’t like the H2 or H3, not enough window space for me…they’re too small. I like my 2003 Explorer V8. Lots of room, I sit real high up, plenty of room for all my fishing and golfing and shooting stuff, and LOTS of big big windows…..

Oh, did I mention the XM Radio?? :em93:

We have an automobile controversy up here in Wa. State. There’s a company called FlexCar, they rent small cars to their members on an hourly basis…catering to the environmentally hip crowd trying to reduce their carbon footprint.

Now it seems that the Dept. of Revenue considers them a car rental company and wants to charge them the taxes that it charges other car renters…..well, the “progressives” that run the company consider that an affront to their enlightened business model. They claim that they are a “car sharing” company rather than a car rental company, and they are reducing the number of cars that are on the road…so they should be given credit for that.

    Details are here

typical of the left, they want to make everyone else pay for their utopian world vision but are unwilling to pay their fair share. I think I’ll drive my Big ‘ol black Explorer over to their headquarters and burn some stinky rubber out front…

He wrote this about the Ford Model T:

Uh-oh. Here comes trouble. Let’s stipulate that the Model T did everything that the history books say: It put America on wheels, supercharged the nation’s economy and transformed the landscape in ways unimagined on the day the first black-only Tin Lizzy bucked and trembled off the assembly line. Well, that’s just the problem, isn’t it? The Model T — whose mass production technique was the work of engineer William C. Klann, who had visited a slaughterhouse’s “disassembly line” — conferred to Americans the notion of automobility as something akin to natural law, a right endowed by our Creator. A century later, the consequences of putting every living soul on gas-powered wheels are piling up, from the air over our cities to the sand under our soldiers’ boots. And by the way, with its blacksmithed body panels and crude instruments, the Model T was a piece of junk, the Yugo of its day.

It’s not?!? That’s news to me. I always thought it was. :em93:

From the text that The Lone Haranguer excerpted:

And by the way, with its blacksmithed body panels and crude instruments, the Model T was a piece of junk, the Yugo of its day.

That, my friends, shows that the cock-gobblin’ colon-spelunker doesn’t know the first thing about automobile history. The first few runs of the Model T had the obligatory “bugs” in them (as does EVERY new production model), but Ford and his engineers quickly worked to make a better, more reliable product. He WAS, after all, competing in a capitalistic marketplace that didn’t reward shoddy craftsmanship with word-of-mouth endorsements or brand loyalty.

To equate the Model T with that piece of Yugoslavian shit shows the writer’s utter idiocy, at best, and anti-American/Capitalistic tendencies, at worst. Then again, the fuckbucket IS writing for Time/CNN, so that’s sort of redundant.

No list of bad cars is complete without mentioning the 1961 Corvair, and if you’re a leftist, no discussion of the Corvair is complete without an obligatory verbal blowjob of Ralph “spoiler” Nader. (BTW, Ralph, thanks for your work in 2000, your check is in the mail. no, really.)

Rear-engine cars are fun to drive and even more fun to crash. While rear-engine packaging offers enormous advantages, putting the vehicle’s heaviest component behind the rear axle gives cars a distinct tendency to spin out, sort of like an arrow weighted at the end. During World War II, Nazi officers in occupied Czechoslovakia were banned from driving the speedy rear-engined Tatras because so many had been killed behind the wheel. Chevrolet execs knew the Corvair — a lithe and lovely car with an air-cooled, flat-six in the back, a la the VW Beetle — was a handful, but they declined to spend the few dollars per car to make the swing-axle rear suspension more manageable. Ohhh, they came to regret that. Ralph Nader put the smackdown on GM in his book Unsafe at Any Speed, also noting that the Corvair’s single-piece steering column could impale the driver in a front collision. Ouch! Meanwhile, the Corvair had other problems. It leaked oil like a derelict tanker. Its heating system tended to pump noxious fumes into the cabin. It was offered for a while with a gasoline-burner heater located in the front “trunk,” a common but dangerously dumb accessory at the time. Even so, my family had a Corvair, white with red interior, and we loved it.

    As for me:

One struggles to think of a worse vehicle at a worse time. Introduced shortly after 9/11…

Which means the gestation period was prolly 1 1/2- 2 years prior. That time was shorter than usual because the H2 is based on Chevy’s Tahoe. GM didn’t pick that time out of spite- that was the intro date, and it likely would have cost tens of millons needlessly wasted dollars if the intro had been pushed back for any length of time in order to look “correct”. As for worst vehicle/worst time, uhhhhh, anyone notice just how many there are on the streets? I can’t quote sales figures- don’t have them in front of me- but I am willing to bet that they, even today with the much higher gas prices, are a tad more popular than your average Zastava.

    — the Hummer H2 sent all the wrong signals. It was/is arrogantly huge,

This idiot is apparently so poor that he can’t afford an ’s to tack onto that “it”. He also doesn’t seem to have noticed that an H2 isn’t any larger than that Tahoe, or as Jaybear pointed out, an Explorer. The H2 is considerably smaller than the F250 and F350 crewcabs I see running around here, in respectable numbers I might add.

At the risk of wasting his higness’ bandwidth here’s a little insight to the difference between the Good Ol US and ..Kuwait and the rest of the ME…

This douchbag would burst a blood vessle if he came over here…GM is all the rage with the Kuwaitis, hybrids? Mohhamed says….”ACK..Hywhat?! What is this Hybrid Habibi, I am not knowing a hybrid!” :em95:

The Kuwaiti’s love the damn things. There’s H2’s all over the place.

I wouldn’t have a clue of what percentage of the Kuwaiti’s drive the damn H2, but it would have to be well above the percentages per capita of drivers in the US. They really are popular here.

As are gas sucking beasts like the Chevrolet Caprice, and other big sedan GM models, such as Caddies In addition to just about every other badge GM makes, including Escalades, Tahoes, Suburbans, and of course Z06 corvettes, (the average Arab has no concept of how to handle that much horsepower… so they end up wrapped around a fig tree someplace) :em98:

Interestingly, The “Caprice” here was basically the same as an Impala in the US complete with the RWD SS model line that was such a hot seller in the US in the mid 90’s.

Remember the adds from GM that showed a menancing Black Impala SS and said “Lord Vader your car is ready” ? Awesome adds! :em69:

Same car over here just re badged, I beleive rebadging them had something to do with the Impala “running deer” symbol being akin to a dog, which in Islam is unclean. So the Impala SS becomes a Caprice SS.

But over the years ….GM got a little smarter; these days an Impala SS in the States is a FWD grocery getter with a 300HP power plant. Respectfull but by no means even close to the legendary SS. A FWD econbox over here doesn’t sell and GM knows it.

While Chevy lovers in the US went to Dodge for the Charger and Ford for the Mustang, the only true poney car GM even makes right now is a $60,000 Corvette, and the ghastly looking Pontiac GTO at almost 40K a copy, meaning sales of the Impala SS and GTO packages for GM have been lackluster at best. GM Quielty revamped its export line.

Now compare that same 2006 “Impala SS” in the U.S. to the ME edition of the exported Caprice SS, it looks vaugly like it’s America cusion but it has some serious whoop ass. Powered with RWD Aluminium V8 with something like 400 ponies under the hood, the things out right fly.

And the Kuwaiti’s love the damn things, they snap them up like there’s no tomorrow, I myself liked them so much I thought about leasing one long term. Theres a less flashey version of the SS Called the LTZ, with the same power plant, the cost? A staggering 700 KD a month!!! Thats about 2500 U.S. A freaking 4 Door Chevy seadan is a STATUS symbol over here!??!

Oh and just to piss everyone off, really good…. You can’t import one into the US, Federal Law. This is Despite the car would meet standards for emissions and safety even tho there are NO such standards here set by the Kuwaiti Government. (They did however outlaw leaded gasoline..Uhhh like 4 -5 years ago…AHEM). Oh Green Peace… Kuwait calling ..they say fuck you and your trees ya fucking moonbats.

Want to get even more pissed off? 1 Kuwaiti Dinar = 3.45 US dollars…roughly, Kuwait Dinar is broken down into smaller units called “Fils” So it’s a thousand fils per Dinar…the cost of a liter of high test 93 octane gasoline over here? 65 fils.

Since by now you’re really gnashing your teeth …for work I have a GMC HD 2500 Pick Up (another popular truck over here) It has the 6.0 liter 400hp engine and the standard 35 gallon abyss for a gas tank, thing sucks gas down like Ted Kennedy sucks down Whiskey..cost from E to F? About 6 KD….20 bucks or there about. (Ducks and runs like hell)

So next time you fill up…and your paying more in TAXES on a gallon then they do for the entire fookin GALLON over here….and you almost have to take a second morgagte out to do so…curse those Enviroloon money grubbing liberal Asshats in DC and in the state legislature…. long..hard…. and LOOOUD…because they are fucking you sans vaseline…

And I guess he forgot that Ford made the Model T affordable so that the common man and gal could own one for him or herself, while folks like Rolls Royce in Europe were building cars that only the spoiled elite could afford. F**kin’ asswipe tool!!! Study your automotive history, jerk.

Oh, no, he remembered. In fact, it’s one of the reasons he hates it. It’s the car that started all this silly thought about “freedom and ease of movement”. In his mind, I suppose, only the elites (which of course would HAVE to include him) should be able to see more of the world than the 3-4 miles around their own homes.

Yeah. That would work GREAT for “thinking globally”. Every time I think LameStream Journaljizzmers couldn’t get dumber, one of ‘em has to go and prove me wrong. I guess I just don’t have enough experience in depravity yet. But hey, that’s why I’m here. :em08:

Since we are busy talking about sensible, down-to-earth vehicles that appeal to the average man… that little baby is my personal favorite:

    Family Car

Runs on anything you want from diesel, unleaded, petroleum, JP8, ethanol or frying grease. Burns 15l of fuel starting the engine when cold, can run over or through stuff like there’s no tomorrow.

It even has a decal on its back saying “1500hp TDI - Beat that Volkswagen !”…

Navistar International (formerly International Harvester) has gotten in on the fun with their CXT, MXT, and RXT trucks. The CXT comes with the 300-hp DT466 diesel engine (860 ft/# of torque) that I remember from my growin’-up years, when I worked on IHC tractors and trucks for my ol’ man. A mean sumbitch, that engine.

I know, I know… I am still in love with it… And I haven’t seen one from inside for 5 and a half years now :em99:

For everyone who likes it a bit lighter but still reasonably armed, I got the new ‘Light Infantry Vehicle, Special Operations’… It’s basically a Mercedes-Benz Wolf (G class for civilian purposes) armored and armed to a sensible level when taking the family around the rougher parts of town….

    Second Car

For everyone not so familiar with German infantry weaponry, the nifty lil gun fired from the front-seat passenger seat is a Rheinmetall MG3, 1200 rounds a minute of 7.62NATO. I won’t say anything about the gun on the top, I couldn’t add anything that any LC here wouldn’t already know… :em95:

You can’t drive this car, it too big , doesn’t get good gas mileage. Well fuck you and the Prius you drove in on.

get out the whip, wake up the 450 horses that have been asleep under the hood of my 1976 Chevy, and go out and burn some dead dinosaurs.

Hummers are crappy vehicles- -not really good for anything. Not efficient, not particularly comfortable and not all that good for cargo. Nothing special under the hood. Tahoes,’Burbans, and plain ol’ pickemups are better people and stuff movers and Ford’s behemoth diesel Excursion is more machismo. Don’t take Detroit to task for failing to build “green cars” but for building crap. But don’t forget to praise and buy the good stuff. Look at the GTO ferinstance–now that’s a righteous ground-pounder in the classic sleeper/pony-car vein. Smooth, conservative on the outside, massive power on the inside. Gets decent mileage, too. Newer ‘Stangs and Chargers are reclaiming some of their former glory, too. Humvees are for the military and serious off-road user, Hummers are better as a kind of blow-job than as a vehicle.

CiSSnarl5.7, there’s gotta be a way to get one of those Kuwaiti Caprice SS’s over here–maybe just get the motor and all the RWD drive train parts and ship em over in a container, then transplant into a nice older body and chassis? I’ve heard it’s getting hard to get good GM crate motors, so there’s a market for an entrepreneurial spirit in the right place at the right time.

I remember the first time I saw a big black impala SS with the 350 vette motor–it was weaving through Ft. Lauderdale traffic, basically chewing up jags and various other high end luxury sporters and spitting ‘em out the back. Like watching a huge black panther carve through a heard of goats. A true thing of beauty.

Is that a fact? No wonder I’d kept on thinking elitist scum while I was reading it. I have a real good idea for him, why don’t he go and find himself a time machine, and use it to go back to the time of feudalism and see how far he gets with the elites of that time. He probably wouldn’t last one minute among them, if the church doesn’t declare him a heretic on the spot. Moron!!!
