Talk about taking a knife to a gunfight. No, talk about taking a plastic spork to a fight against an entrenched Marine Corps Division WITH air and artillery support.

Dramatically escalating the Dems’ confrontation with Rush Limbaugh over his “phony soldiers” comment, Harry Reid just laced sharply into the talk show host in an extended attack on the Senate floor, hammering Rush’s comments as “unpatriotic” and demanding he apologize to the troops.

He then had to take a break while he tried to pick his lips back up off the floor. Really, that’s HARRY REID calling somebody “unpatriotic” and demanding that he “apologize to the troops.”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

That’s like Adolf Hitler criticizing Mother Theresa for “intolerance.” Like Bill Klintoon accusing anybody of being promiscuous. Sweet merciful G-D this is funny!

The “lack of patriotism” smelly Harry is referring to is, in case you don’t know, when Rush called Jesse McBeth, Scott Beauchump et al “phony soldiers”, by the way. Apparently pointing out the obvious is about as unpatriotic as you can get in the liberal alternate universe.

Please, Rush, say it. I dare you. No, I BEG you, say the words: “How DARE you question my patriotism, Mr. Reid?”

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And just what, exactly, are you trying to achieve, Harry, you ancient, wrinkled, treasonous, backstabbing, lying jerk? You’re not thinking that the troops are going to suddenly realize what an arch patriot you are and flock to your side? BWAHAHAHAHAHA! SNORT! GUFFAW!

Ouch. My sides are hurting.

P.S.: Forgot to mention that the grandstanding clown also left a letter condemning Rush for the various Senators to sign. Of course, that means that we of the Right Wing Death Beast Blogosphere have no other choice than to run around like chickens, screaming “the sky is falling, the Senate is threatening Rush’s free speech rights!”

Or we could just decide to set ourselves further apart from the nutroots by acting like adults. Yep, we think we’ll do that instead.

    On top of the outrageously hypocritical comments coming out of that weasel’s face, the delivery is just … priceless! Reid’s whimpery, simpering, mealy mouthed voice exactly fits his character. Who’s a bedwetter? Probably this guy.

    Oh, it gets even better than that, Misha. According to Michelle Malkin, Reid is letting Sen. Tom Harkin - who himself was caught fabricating tales of heroism and derring-do about his military service - take point on the Dems’ defense of phony soldiers.

    You just can’t make this shit up… :em99:

    HOUSE RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LIMBAUGH
    Mon Oct 01 2007 15:16:57 ET

    IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OCTOBER 1, 2007

    Mr. KINGSTON submitted the following resolution

    Honoring all Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States and commending broadcaster Rush Limbaugh for his relentless efforts to build and maintain troop morale through worldwide radio broadcasts and personal visits to conflict regions.

    Whereas the need to show support for American troops serving and fighting both here and abroad during a time of global conflict has never been greater, with the need to communicate an uplifting message of encouragement to American soldiers eternally important, in addition to the morale-boosting value of personal visits to combat region by highly-regarded individuals;

    Whereas every American, to include service men and women and broadcasters, is entitled to free speech and the free exchange of ideas; Whereas daily radio broadcasts reaching tens of millions of civilians and soldiers both in America and abroad by way of the Armed Forces Radio Network are conducted five days a week by Rush Hudson Limbaugh III;

    Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has consistently used his broadcast time to praise American troops and support them during their ongoing efforts to secure peace in a troubled world;

    Whereas Mr. Limbaugh has met with troops in Afghanistan; raised and donated millions of dollars to the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation, which provides college scholarships to the children of Marines and veterans of other branches killed in action; features an “Adopt a Soldier” program which provides them with free subscription access to his online program features; and Whereas Mr. Limbaugh’s commitment to American troops serving both here and abroad remains as strong as ever: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the House of Representatives, Section 1. The House of Representatives makes the following findings:

    (1) Americans serving in the United States Armed Forces have volunteered for such service and have not been drafted for that purpose.

    (2) Those who serve in the Armed Forces deserve the respect of all Americans for their willingness to undertake that service

    (3) Those who serve in the Armed Forces do not relinquish their constitutional right to express their opinions regarding public policy in a manner consistent with good order and discipline.

    Sec. 2. House of Representatives—

    (1) recognizes the service of all members of the Armed Forces serving in good standing and with honor to defend the United States, and the personal sacrifices made by them and their families;

    (2) commits to judge the merits of the opinions of members of the Armed Forces regarding the policies of the United States, including those related to military actions in Iraq, without prejudice or personal bias;

    (3) commends Mr. Limbaugh’s desire to see American troops achieve a successful outcome in Iraq, Afghanistan and wherever soldiers are stationed and his tireless public support for American troops and their families through radio broadcasts, fundraising and other public support;

    (4) honors all members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel serving in harm’s way, as well as their families; and

    (5) pledges to debate any supplemental funding request or any policy decisions regarding the war in Iraq with the solemn respect and the commitment to integrity that the sacrifices of these members of the Armed Forces and civilian personnel deserve.

    END

    As I pointed out in greater length in my blog, isn’t it slightly fucked up that

    a) a Senator is arguing with a private citizen not germane to any legislation on Senate time?

    b) a Senator is sending a letter to a media company that seems like a veiled threat to silence an opponent?

    If a Republican did this, the left would be urging Russia and China to preemptively nuke us before it’s too late.

    Every man and woman in uniform knows that Rush Limbaugh supports them 200%. Rush always has time to talk to a GI that calls in. His radio talk show is played in ready rooms, break rooms, work-centers, barracks, and Naval ships all throughout the Armed Forces.

    Rush has always been there for the GI and always will be, inlike that poor excuse of a male, Harry Reid

    Or we could just decide to set ourselves further apart from the nutroots by acting like adults. Yep, we think we’ll do that instead.

    Now where the hecks the fun in THAT, Boss????

    (SO much more fun to look over at the three year old having a tantrum and banging the ol’ sippy cup and laugh and say. “Oh, is de po widdoe baby maaaad??? Oh, toooo baaaddd, widdoe baby!”, thus making them throw themselves to the floor and bang their arms and legs. Then, we laugh at them.) (And point.) (And giggle.)

    I know it worked on my step kids. I saw a grand total of four full blown temper tantrums from the two of them. I just laughed at them and asked who they thought they were impressing. (Oh, yeah, Brandon tried a fifth one while we were walking one day. He didn’t want to cross the street, because he didn’t want to go for a walk with us at all. I just picked him up and tucked him under my arm face down and carried him across. Didn’t try to reason with him or anything like that, just said, “Go, or else.” He didn’t go, so he found out the “oe else”. I guess that makes me a bad step-dad, eh?)

    On the other hand, the average two to three year olds have a far higher understanding of how the real world works than CongressCritters and Demoncrapic Senapukes, so maybe not. Still, it is fun to laugh at their silly asses.

    Staci is right … this is a cheap stunt to draw attention away from the NYT/Moron.org violation of CFR, and to set the stage for Fairness Doctrine “legislation.”

    It would be humorous if - just as the Marine is suing Murthafucker for defamation - Rush would file suit against Harkin/Reid. He won’t … but it would be fun to watch.
