While we’re on the subject of radio, we’re devastated to have to tell you that the Conservative Hegemony over the Airwaves has suffered a blow from which it will take us very long indeed to recover, a blow delivered by the Hildebeest and George Soros’ wholly owned subsidiary, Media Matters.

Yes, friends, after a smear campaign lasting well over a week and costing G-d knows how many of George “Hiwi” Soros’ dollars, the “nonpartisan, progressive nonprofit that is unaffiliated with any political party or candidate” (sorry, we just have to say that every once in a while. It makes us laugh so hard the windows around The Palace crack), Media Matters, have driven a sword deep inside the belly of the Right Wing Limbaugh Death Beast.

They got him pulled for one whole day in the throbbing, hustling and bustling metropolis of Astoria, Oregon.

Cherish the mockery, Media Matters, because we have plenty more where that came from.

I got something else they can pull… Let them compete with their ideas. Soros has the bucks…..so what’s the problem, aside from the fact their shows suck, are boring and spiteful, full of the loser mentality known as the left. Depressing, to say the least……

    Millions of Dollars.

    One day.

Now THAT’S a bargain of Biblical (TM) proportions!

Don’t give up now, George! Ya pumped north of 50 million into support for John F’n Kerry. Now this! Gowan, we LOVE lost causes.

Loser. You are stupid and your mother dresses you funny.

Oregon, figures. Imagine how stupid that jackass must feel! And imagine how desperate the loons on the left must be to attack Rush with such a weak lie….one that everyone with a brain knows is a weak lie! The trend of these commie attacks is very disturbing though. Why aren’t right minded lawmakers screaming bloody murder?

    Sire-

In my travels about The Realm, I noticed that Media Matters has a blog ad on that left side of the intertubes. Perhaps you could have one of your Imperial Edicts proclaim it mandatory to advertise fairly, on both sides of the web.

They are unbiased aren’t they? And the Imperial coffers have been dwindling since Fred! has entered the fray.

Ooooo, the eeevil George Soros, behind every Liberal plot and organization.

Personally? I think it was a publicity stunt. KAST-AM is such a dinky, almost insignificant station in Astoria. It is hilarious to think that the station got deluged with emails and phone calls by the tiny share of people who listen to the station.

Obviously, most of the calls and emails came from outside the KAST-AM broadcast footprint, mostly from all over the country.

But most telling is the fact that Media Matters themselves aren’t taking credit for taking Rush off the air — even if it were for one day.

This is why I think this is more a gimmick or even a setup than it is anything else.

Besides, New Northwest Broadcasters, the owner of KAST-AM is not the type to cave into phone and email campaigns.

So I am going with it being a gimmick. You will go and try to get as much mileage out of it as possible.

Well, the real kicker is when you people start quoting Brian Baloney as a credible source for anything. The man had three vanity shows throughout his ‘career’. The last show he claims he was “fired” because he says he talked bad about CBS and/or Dan Rather.

The reality is, the time slot he rented (that’s what vanity radio is, it is rented time slots) was contractually designated to the Seahawks during game time, so the slot became unavailable for rent.

At the same time, KIRO had regular position open up (one that the station actually pays a host for) and Baloney thought he was good enough for it. Instead, they gave it to Allen Prell (which really says a lot about Brian Baloney, considering Allen Prell was terrible)

Brian Baloney hasn’t had a paying gig in radio ever. Not in the eleven years and three stations he paid to be on. He sold his own advertising and that is the only thing that kept him afloat.

But the Right Wing Nuts love him because he is such an “expert” at this stuff.

Notice he doesn’t work now. except for the occasional paid commentary on FAUX News?

Oh, and those wheels on the War of Profit thing have yet to even come loose.

Taking Rush off the air in Astoria, Oregon???

That’s not hard to do - just have to turn off the radio above the cash register at the truck stop, right?

Deej, have you looked at where his contributions are made?

Gee, have you looked at the contributions Richard Mellon Scaiffe has made to Republican causes? He makes Soros look like a cheapskate.

But really, so what? These are just two people who give a small fraction of their money to political causes. There are many, many more on both sides. The amount that either of these to spend on political causes is barely a drop in the bucket on their total worth. Percentage-wise, it is probably about as much as you give to your favorite cause.

From what I understand, Soros hasn’t given directly to Media Matters, but has given money to others who in turn have given money. It is like you giving money to the Salvation Army, but not directly to a welfare mom who abuses drugs or alcohol — yet your money ends up there anyways.

Granted, I am sure that Soros doesn’t mind that some of his contributions have ended up at Media Matters — and he may have had advanced knowledge that it was going there. But he didn’t write a check to them, nor does he have any influence with them, any more than you influence the welfare mom who winds up with the money you donated to the Salvation Army.

I am trying to put this into perspective for you. Yes, Soros gives money to Liberal/Progressive causes and organizations. Scaiffe gives money to Conservative causes and organizations. There are thousands of other people who give scads of money to Republican and / or Democrats. Some, like Bill Gates, even hedge their bets and give money to both.

Just because they give money doesn’t mean they have day-to-day management and operations. It just means that someone tapped them for money, and they gave. Most of it is tax-deductable, or it buys them some kind of influence or favor somewhere down the road.

    Big surprise there.

You know, without Richard Mellon Scaiffe’s money, there never would have been an Arkansas Project. That means there never would have been a Whitewater, a Vincent Foster Conspiracy, Paula Jones, Blue Dress and Monica, and a whole myriad of Billcapades that spanned the majority of the 1990s.

Oh, so Soros has spent his millions for nothing at all?

How much do you suppose George Soros spends on political contributions? Would it surprise you to know that he has probably only spent $50 million of his almost $8 billion towards 325 various groups? Most of that money was spend prior to 2004, and not that much since. He obviously ‘wasted’ his money in 2004, since Bush was re-elected.
