It looks like SPC Alex Jimenez got murdered by his al-Qaeda kidnappers while our JAG-offs were debating for 10 long hours whether wire-tapping the terrorists comms to get clues about his whereabouts would violate the head choppers’ civil rights. The terrorist head choppers in Iraq, mind you.

Nobody knows if those 10 hours would have saved Jimenez’s life if they hadn’t been wasted on a bunch of pencil-pushing desk jockeys jerking each other off, but what we DO know is that they were 10 hours that SPC Jimenez could ill afford at the time.

First, we kill all the lawyers.

Sounds better with every passing day.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about hanging it up. My faith in ‘the system’ has been shaky at best in the last few years.

A FISA warrant to intercept enemy communications? On a battlefield? In a war zone? While in pursuit of said enemy?

    :em98:
And we are to believe that these are the same people that are reading grandmas e-mails? This is a prime example of how domestic critics of the war affect the prosecution of the war and lead to unnecessary U.S. casualties.

The terminally stuck on stoopid Kostards are saying it was all Bush’s fault because his administration is so incompetent that no one senior enough could be found to sign off on the emergency order. THERE NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN A NEED TO OBTAIN THE ORDER IN THE FIRST DAMNED PLACE!

It’s a fucking war and they are the enemy. Could you imagine WWII with this crowd around. We would have needed a warrant to listen in on Yamamoto’s radio traffic for cripes sakes.

    Faggots.

Don’t do it BiW. The ’system’ needs good men such as yourself to keep it worth a damn. That means WE need good men such as yourself.

Hot pursuit may not have saved the life of SPC Jimenez, but it may have exacted retribution on his murderers.

…and Alex would have cheered mightily at that.

    Crunchie:
This country doesn’t know how to fight a war anymore. The military does, but our “enlightened” leaders do not.
If we don’t get our shit together in this century we will not have a democracy to fight for anymore.

The military needed “permission” to do a search to find a (kidnapped) soldier in battle?

We are screwed if this is the way war is conducted….

I fear that the war will eventually find its way over here, and if/when it does, It will be up to us to show these Kostards how it should have been fought over there from the start.

Its really sad to see it come to the point where we are actually worried about the feelings and civil rights of our enemies.

The FISA law applies even to a cellphone conversation between two people in Iraq, because those communications zip along wires through U.S. hubs, which is where the taps are typically applied.

Well, that right there is the problem. Why don’t we have taps on all major phone interchanges in Iraq itself? Our only shot at intercepting communictaions is to hope that they’re stupid enough to use a cell carrier that’ll end up routing calls through the USA?

We should be able to bug every cell tower in that country and we should certainly have monitoring capabilities on every line of copper or fibre running out of it. FISA wouldn’t even be involved then.

*SIGH* Pity we can’t charge the ‘lawyahs’ for something or other, for showing depraved indifference to the life and safety of troops in a combat zone.

Hope you’re proud, DJ; there’s your ‘civil rights’ protections at work. :em38:

First, we don’t even know he’s dead-let’s hope for the best. Second, while I am normally in favor of civil liberties, on a battle kidnapping where every second counts they really should have been able to bend the rules just a little to be able to find him quickly. :em41:

    Misha I

By everything that is sacred to me, this just about tops it! Fucking LAWYERS, safely ensconced in their offices are DEBATING listening in on the shit-eating ENNEMY conversations to save one of their own, they’re DEBATING!?!? :em98: :em08: If we allow the lawyers to decide the ROE, the army will immediately become paralyzed while they’re debating whether someone’s rights are being infringed upon. The ennemy has only one “right” and that’s the right to assume ambient temperature after receiving a hefty dose of ventilating metal. Here’s my idea, gather those vile specimens of cowardly garbage called lawyers, and drive them smack in the middle of the most insurgent-infested area of Iraq and LEAVE THEM THERE! The cowardly holesuckers can “debate” their fate with said insurgents. Or better yet, wait while other lawyers are discussing the matter…

Sickening, fucking, shit-eating, yellow-bellies slime suckers!

Where’s Patton when you need him?

“Can we question their patriotism now?”
Yeah, I do believe that’s reasonable. This is such total and utter BULLSHIT. These…calm down…LUNATICS have violated their oath to serve, defend, and protect the Constitution. By blithering about some pc bs, they’ve allowed our troops to die, when it could well have been prevented. Get these fucking libtards out of uniform, and get the traitors out of DC.

This was my comment over at Jawa. There was another one I should have quoted, but I think execution for abandoning soldiers on the field of battle is better than lawsuits. This pc bullshit has got to stop, or we’re ALL going to die from it. And Hardclimber54? Well said, brother, well said.

I was over reading recently (to me) discovered rightwingsparkle (quite a sparkly addition to my reading, I might add ifyaknowhatimean) yesterday in her post on this very subject… and lo and behold I ran across one of (what appears to be) her “regular” trolls going on about how it showed the incompentence of the Bush Administration and how it was a plot to get the acting AG out of the way so they could have Gonzalez ok it (after the lawyer deliberation) … ultimately how it’s all an eeeevil plot (if you read between the lines) to take away the freedoms that really matter by allowing us to spy on terrorists & foriegn enemies who make phone calls that happen to go through switches in America.

It is actually funny how practically in the same breath libbies can call Bush an idiot and an evil mastermind at the same time.

Well it’d be funny if it didn’t have the implications it has had.

Once again, I am rendered speechless and ashamed by my so-called bretheren at the bar. If there is not a court marshal in this for those feckless, dimwitted, sad excuses for JAGs, there is more wrong with the “system” than this situation suggests. As a lawyer, I just cannot understand how lawyers in our government do the stupid, useless, and down right harmful stuff they do. They violate individual liberties of our citizens when they don’t have to, then lavish extra-special rights and protections on those who don’t deserve them, in circumstances that call for the reverse. Sure, lawyers are often by nature contrary and argumentative, but we’re supposed to help our clients get things done, not handcuff them with stupidity. I really need to go to the range!

The more I read of stories like this, the more I wish there was such a thing as that society in “Swordfish”, you know that one with Travolta? I wish there was a gov’t agency that could and would fight with its gloves off, with only the president to give the order, untouchable by the senate or lawyers.

You and I both! Soldiers’ lives are squandered for nothing!!! This is NOT a case of someone’s dog dropping a load on somebody’s lawn, we’re talking LIVES! These lawyers have not honour, no decency. I am a grown man and a retired officer, and tears of rage swell in my eyes over this… I’m going to be sick :em38: Damn you lawyers damn you all!
