Those Socialist Shitheads over on The Stoopid Side of the Idiotarian Parallel Universal Divide™ had better find another platform to run on besides “The Iraq War Is LOST!”, because history is, yet again, rearing its ugly head and proving them wrong.

The GWT is going to last for more decades than most of us will kicking around on this ball of dirt, but the goat-bothering camel-molesters of Al Qaieda are in their final death throes.

Speaking through an interpreter at a 31 October meeting at the Iraqi Islamic Party headquarters in downtown Baghdad, Sheik Omar said that al Qaeda had been “defeated mentally, and therefore is defeated physically,” referring to how clear it has become that the terrorist group’s tactics have backfired. Operatives who could once disappear back into the crowd after committing an increasingly atrocious attack no longer find safe haven among the Iraqis who live in the southern part of Baghdad. They are being hunted down and killed. Or, if they are lucky, captured by Americans.

The nutless Donk douchebags (Yeah, we’re lookin’ at you, Harry, Nancy, Murthafucker, et al.) are in serious trouble. Michael Moore-on’s Minutmen™ have had their asses handed to ‘em and the 2008 DNC convention won’t be able to use our brave & heroic military members’ sacrifices as a bloody platform from which to piss on their graves.

There is just something so inherently right about a civilian populace that will only tolerate vipers in their midst for so long before they go snake hunting. I’d love to see something similar happen here, but I have no idea where our domestic enemies would run to in order to escape our wrath.

If the goal was to smash Al Qaeda, there was no question that the American military would succeed. Anyone who doubted it was a fool.

There’s quite a large bloc of LefTards around the world that you’ll have to take up that issue with…

If, however, the goal is to make Iraq a semi-free country, free from theocracy, well that’s a little more dicey. And this is entirely due to the lunacy that allowed a Shariah provision to be written into the constitution.

I agree with you that that particular provision was an Ass-tronomical fuck-up, but I believe that Iraq has a long enough (and deeply rooted) history of non-IslamoFascism that it will be able to survive (and thrive) without becoming a mirror image of Iran. I think, without being privy to the inner negotiations that went on, that the only reason that the provision in question was allowed to be inserted into the initial post-Saddam Iraqi constitution was to get the majority Shi’ites on-board long enough to get the country back up and running and that they knew that their deep-seated, secular government roots would prevent a fundamentalist Islamic state from arising.

While it’s true that we may never see a completely Westernized version of democracy in Iraq, I strongly believe that there are enough intelligent, hardworking people there to make it a model for the rest of the region. Hell, who, at the turn of the 19th/20th century, would have foreseen that Turkey (Read: The Ottoman Empire’s last stronghold.) would become the poster child for secular government in that shithole region of Islamic nutbags? (Yes, they have elected some Islamic hardliners, every now and then, but their no-holds-barred, staunchly secular military ensures that they keep their shit in check.)

This isn’t going to be a cut-and-dried war, like WWI or WWII were, where “victory” is seen as the signing of a peace treaty and all sides take their toys and go home. This will be an incremental war where “victories” will come as little bits and pieces of the IslamoNazis’ house of cards are knocked off and replaced with freedom and prosperity.

Just imagine what would happen if there were wholesale, widespread coverage and condemnation of the atrocities, committed by the Islamic fundamentalist throughout the world, by the Muslim media and religious leaders? I’d imagine that, after seeing coverage of children mutilated on a daily basis (and not having it justified in the name of some 7th century moon god), most non-fundamentalist Muslim parents would be appalled and rebel against the perpetrators of such horrific crimes against humanity.

This is EXACTLY what has happened in Iraq and it CAN be the model for the rest of the world in our fight against the Jihadis. We just need to have the enemies WITHIN OUR OWN BORDERS to quit pulling for the other side to win.

Al Qaeda’s goal was always to paint itself as the great liberator of the Muslims, and so to unify the various Islamic terror organisations into one. That goal is now utterly impossible for them.

    Yup. See above.

Now they are biting a hand that fed them. (please note the past tense) Trouble with that plan is that the Libyan don’t play games, no matter how much of a buffoon Khaddafi may have seemed in the past. Libya is pretty much of an exercise in Middle Eastern Realpolitik, and Khaddafi still has strong ties into his own tribal structure.

I can see this turning into another Anbar situation for al Queerda, only without the initial panicking of the populace. Khaddafi is not not the most popular man in the ME, even in his own country. And especially not with us. But he’s been making the right kinds of gestures towards the rest of the world.

They might not help him any with Shamnesty International, but I can see the US, Britain, and, (as long as Sarkozy is in power, anyways), France, turning a blind eye to whatever he does to stomp on Islamonazi fanatics in his own country. (Rather like we have done with Putin and the Chechens.)

There’s a saying in Iraq, “As goes south Baghdad so goes Iraq”. If Al Quaeda is being trounced there as well, then it truly is the beginning of the end for them.

They’ve already lost Anbar, which was their own autonomous state for awhile, when the 1920’s Brigades stopped fighting us and turned on them; they are losing (badly) in Diyala; south Baghdad was there last refuge, as pathetic as it was.

There’s a still a long fight ahead for us, but there was after Midway too.

sorry to be a skeptic here, but I don’t think ANY amount of progress in Iraq will sway the defeatists. They will simply deny and discount any of the signs of victory, their hatred of George Bush and of this country are that extreme.

I’m reading a book about the Sicilian/Italian campaign called
The Day of Battle, it’s the second in a series of books written by Rick Atkinson called the liberation trilogy. What’s particularly striking about the story is how the press back then, when presented with invasion plans or other secret info, went out of their way to not disclose any information that would compromise the Allies plans. The book goes into great detail about Patton’s feud with the press, but makes the point that even though they reported on his many inflammatory statements, they NEVER gave away what he and Bradley and Clark were doing…even when they were told what was going to happen.

Think that would happen today? with the journalists…nay urinalists…that make up the news today? My point is that, there is such an investment in making this mission fail, that the good news will never be reported, instead they’ll move on to something else like global warming or the perceived racist uprising in this country….anything to make the victory against islamonazis and them irrelevant and ignored.

I can vouch for the locals taking an active role in squashing the terrorists in their own ranks. I won’t give any details where I am but in this region of Iraq we no longer return artillary fire into the city when we are fired upon with rockets.

The local Iraqi government and the coalition have signed an agreement that the local Iraqis will take care of any person or persons that fire on our camp from the city.

If they’re stupid enough to fire rockets or motars at us from outside the city they’re in hell with Hitler getting pineapples shoved up their ass within a matter of minutes. Our return fire is swift and effective.

    Wild-Eyed Charlie,

Just one more reason, as if it’s needed, that Obama should never be president. Or any of the Dhimmicrats for that matter but his attitude is really bad. No American flag pins? No saluting the flag? Screw em.

    Back to the topic though.

Omar’s influence extends beyond tribal and party levels, to include important channels within the Iraqi government and the US military in Baghdad, as evidenced by the agenda of the hours-long meeting. But for the talk about al Qaeda, the focus was mostly on other topics, such as returning displaced persons to their homes, efficiently delivering basic services and jumpstarting the economy. In fact, more and more meetings in Iraq are turning to day-to-day business, and less time is required on military and security topics like targeting and addressing intelligence-type matters, which until recently monopolized most meetings across Iraq.

Back around the first week of September I participated in a videoconference with some Chamber of Commerce types in Hillah. It was strange to be surrounded by a bunch of people I’ve known for years and talk about projects we could participate in that would affect the average Iraqi.
It couldn’t happen unless things were quieting down all over Iraq. The people, both Iraqi and American, who are investing in these projects expect to gain from them - and they should.
When John Q. Businessman from small-town America and Mohammad Q. Businessman from Iraq start working together Al Qaeda has already lost the hearts and minds thing.

You and I both Sir! Good to hear from you JetBlast!
I hope this finds you well. Best wishes from Canada my friend and I’ll be enjoying a cold Sleemans to your health once I get back home after my day (and I am NOT teasing you!).
