This just in from alert reader hilljohnny:

In a December newsletter to the families of elementary school students, Spokane Public Schools’ list of “important dates” didn’t include Christmas.

Hanukkah, Human Rights Day, winter break, the Islamic holy day Eid al-Adha, first day of winter and Kwanzaa all made the list. But no Christmas.

“It was absolutely an error of omission,” district spokeswoman Terren Roloff said. “In our efforts to be inclusive, we missed the obvious.”

That’s actually quite funny. Being so obsessed with being “inclusive” that they forgot to include the single largest and most obvious group. No, His Majesty doesn’t think it was deliberate, it is just a typical example of Idiotarians being so desperately afraid to “insult” minority groups and cause a manufactured outrage that they quite forget to engage their brains. Ending up creating an even bigger outrage, of course. Oh, the irony.

The omission drew complaints from some parents that Christians are being overlooked in favor of other cultures and beliefs.

Greater Spokane Association of Evangelicals Executive Director John Tusant said the error surprised him.

“The stores have been decorated for the last month. How do you overlook that?” Tusant asked.

“What? Christmas? Oh, so that’s why we have nativity scenes, Christmas Sales, carols, pine trees and decorations everywhere! Gee, I completely didn’t notice that.”

Sorry, but we just can’t muster Teh Outrage™ here. We’re too damn busy laughing our Imperial Arse off at the bumbling fools.

Hutton School parent Jane Harper noted the absence of Christmas but didn’t think the omission was meant as a message to Christians.

“Christmas is so dominant in our society. I don’t know that anyone should feel slighted,” Harper said.

Oh? We see: Because Christians are in the majority, we just have to put up with everything. The comedy of the school clowns and their fuckup isn’t insulting, but that statement surely is. It’s the exact same blather we hear when we’re told that Because Whitey Has All The Power™, there’s no such thing as discrimination against whites. And if there were, we bloody well deserve it. To atone for our sin of being in the majority and Oppressing The Poor Brown Skinned Peeples™, of course. Which is strange, because His Imperial Highness can’t recall the last time that he oppressed anyone, brown skinned or otherwise, so he’s utterly unable to find something to feel guilty about.

Roloff said the district would not have included Hanukkah and Eid al-Adha if it had intended to avoid religious celebrations.

Just some religious celebrations. Again: We don’t for a second believe that this was intentional. It’s more hilarious than anything else, but that’s just because we relish mocking other people’s idiocy and screwups, adorable and cuddly that we are, but that “explanation” is utter and complete bull manure. Incidentally, we think that the school tried to do the right thing: To avoid the usual sectarian nonsense and blatherskites babbling about “separation of church and state” because of their total inability to understand the First Amendment, they decided to celebrate all holidays, which is exactly what we’d have proposed ourself. It’s just that they sort of forgot the largest religious celebration of them all in the process, which is flat out hysterically funny.

Outraged? No. Laughing our tuchis off? Oh yes. Oh yes INDEED.

Christmas is pretty much assumed. Try to find a calendar anywhere in the world that doesn’t have Christmas on it. Even if all of the holidays are shut off on my Outlook, Christmas still shows up there.

You don’t have to be Christian to celebrate Christmas — the holiday.

I doubt VERY seriously that the Spokane School District deliberately left the date off.

I find it funny because Spokane is one of our more Conservative areas in the state.

Geez, are the PC assholes so desperate to surrender as to try to pull this shit and hoping to get away with it!?!? In my humble opinion, the “omission” became one after they got called on it.

How’bout Gaia’s birthday while you’re at it, and dispense with Thanksgiving next year. Sweet Swinging Mama, we are being taken down the road to imbecility by socialists and we seem to look forward to the trip!

    Asswipes.

(I mean it, one of these days, I WILL abandon all restraint and really let it rip!)

If I were making out the calender the first thing that would be marked would be Christmas. Damn, two weeks without those brats sweet little dears. I’d fill in the other holidays (Kwanzaa :em99: ) after making sure no parent forgot to keep the kid at home.

    Hardclimber @ #3:

You are assuming that they intentionally omitted Christmas.

I can tell you that the Spokane Valley is not a Liberal enclave — it is a fairly Conservative bunch on that end of the state. Sure, there are still a few Liberals there, but the majority are Republican.

Was it a blunder to forget putting Christmas on the list? Oh yes. But so far I haven’t heard about the townsfolk showing up at the Spokane School District Administration building with torches and pitchforks yet.

My wife lives over there (yes, we live exactly 299 miles away from each other and are blissfully happy about it), and she tells me that most people think it was funny, but it has been rectified.

I think it would be a different story altogether if it were discovered and the district said they weren’t going to fix it, or they did it on purpose.

People make mistakes all the time. Some are stupid mistakes yet still innocent ones. I know it is the time of year for Billbo O’Reilly’s Twelve days of the ‘War on Christmas’ schtick, but this isn’t the case of trying to do away with Christmas.

Is my face red? Here in Spokane we’re pretty conservative, DJ’s right. The liberalism pretty much stays on the other side of the Cascades, a few college campi notwithstanding. Even most educators and ostensible union members are generally conservative.
I’m sure it was a simple mistake. The folks here are simply trying to do their jobs, they simply believe that everyone else would get their panties in an uproar over the list as we actually want it. We’re simple conservatives, simple farmers, simply want to be left alone. Simple, simple, simple.

We try to observe the forms so’s not to be noticed and therefore screwed with, but since we don’t really get the whole PC substance, we don’t do it right and get noticed. And now we’re being screwed with.

We made our stupid PC “to-do” list so we could say we did, so we could then do what we always do, which is ignore it while everyone else ignores us. But we messed it up, and now we’re not ignored. Now we may actually have to observe Eid- al-Adha, or whatever that crap is.

Times coming when we just say to hell with it all, and if you want us to observe some stupid crap we don’t like, you’ll have to come here and make us. Good luck with that, and bring plenty of friends to help. We love a target rich environment.

Excuse me, but the list included “Kwanzaa” a fake holiday concocted by a commie, woman torturing (convicted), Black Panther, USC scumbag who desperately needs a bullet lodged in the middle of his brain!
So of course, the retarded jackasses on the left fully embrace this travesty!

But Christmas was forgotten??? I lived in Spokane for 4 years while serving at Fairchild AFB. I loved it there, but I can’t help but think the asshats have taken over the schools there just like they’ve taken over every where else, and this was no accident. I hope not. I hope the prior comments and Misha’s conclusion are actually the case, but I’m skeptical. Kwanzaa???? Give me a friggin break!! Democraps, Liberals, and people like Ron Karenga have done more to harm to the Black community than anyone can possibly comprehend, and Kwanzaa gets added???……unbelievable. Absolutely disgusting. And don’t get me started on the Eid al-Adha thing. :em98: :em38: :em96:

Maybe it WAS a simple omission here, I’ll definitely give the benefit of the doubt and go with the opinion of the locals.

But it’s not a simple omission in other places. Here in South New York…er I mean South Florida, there are no Christmas Pageants. There are Winter Holiday Plays. And Christmas Break is called Winter Break on the school calendar.

I’ll leave the PC side of it alone and just focus on the isiocy of calling anything winter here. We have two seasons, warm and hot. Winter my ass.

DJ, having lived in both E WA and downtown Seattle a fair number of years, Spokane is most assuredly the conservative stepchild of the socialist bigger sister. It was often said that the likes of Spokane, Yakima and the Tri-Cities only exist to give the state’s congress enough votes to keep Seattle from making the entire state a socialist utopia of sorts. But only barely.

And then one realizes that most people in Seattle originated from California, and brought their own special brand of utopia to what was once an undiluted firecely independant populace. A friend of mine chronicled growing up in Spokane. Amazon search for “Spokane Hates Me” by Conrad Evarts. It’s a laugh a paragraph.

People who want to get worked up about this will, of course. It’s the blessing and the curse of the blogospheric world.

As for me, I find it much easier to believe in effete stupidity than antitheist malice. It’s not like 90% of these people aren’t going to be celebrating Christmas, and only Christmas, after all.
