…by coming down hard on the police, of course (link via LC & IB Robert Spencer):

PARIS (AP) — A judge in the Paris suburb of Bobigny has charged two police officers in connection with the 2005 electrocutions of two teens whose deaths sparked three weeks of rioting in France, officials said Thursday.

You remember the two, don’t you? The two teenaged goblins who, trying to evade the police, hid in a power substation and took a ride on Old Sparky to that Big Fig Farm in the Sky.

The two officers were charged Wednesday for ”non-assistance to people in danger,” which carries up to five years in prison and a maximum $97,400 fine, judicial officials said on condition of anonymity in line with policy.

The decision came more than 15 months after Zyed Benna, 17, and Bouna Traore, 15, were killed as they hid from police in a power substation in the Paris suburb of Clichy-sous-Bois.

And now the cops are being charged because they didn’t magically detect that the little morons were playing with electrical wires in the substation and save them from their own stupidity.

The Oct. 27, 2005, electrocutions triggered riots that raged through housing projects in troubled neighborhoods with large Arab and black populations. France’s suburbs remain plagued by poverty, discrimination, tensions between youth and police and a sense of alienation from French society.

Any excuse for running amok in the streets and creating havoc is a good excuse for the increasingly misnomered Religion of “Peace.” And, who knows, mayhap the perceived alienation from fwench society might be diminished if they were to start behaving like, say, evolved lifeforms?

An internal police review of the electrocutions, released in December, faulted police officers for their handling of the incident. The report confirmed the officers had been chasing the teens before they were killed, which the Interior Ministry and police had initially denied.

Most likely because they knew what it would lead to, once the dhimmis of fwance found out.

The raging mobs of the banlieues got increased monetary assistance and huge government welfare programs for setting Paris aflame (something even the Nazis couldn’t get themselves to do back in 1944), and the police got charged with crimes.

Sounds almost like the way Jorge Arbusto treats our Border Patrol, doesn’t it?

The report said officers should immediately have notified French energy company EDF that the youths were hiding in the power station.

It also said that if officers had notified EDF, technicians could have intervened 15 minutes before the accident. Still, the report said such steps would not necessarily have prevented the electrocutions.

So, even though there’s no reason to believe that shutting off all of the electricity to an entire neighborhood would have prevented the two goblins from removing themselves from the gene pool, those two cops are still looking at 5 years in the slammer and about a hundred grand in fines?

Speaking of which, just what kind of charges do you think the two gendarmes would have been facing now if they HAD blacked out that entire neighborhood? And that’s not including the damages from the “multicultural youthful exuberance” that would have undoubtedly ensued, had that slumhole been cut off from power for more than five minutes.

Under French law, everyone — not just police — must make an effort to help a person in danger as long as they or others aren’t themselves threatened by bringing such aid. For example, although non-swimmers would not be required to jump into water to save a drowning person, they would be obligated to try to get help.

By standing around shrieking effeminately, presumably.

Judge Olivier Geron, in his decision, considered that the two officers should have tried to warn France’s EDF to cut the power at the substation or take other measures to protect the teens.

Who, exactly, made the decision to run into a power substation?

Who, then, is to blame?

Not the ones who did, according to fwench “law.”

Sonia Imloul, head of an association called Respect 93 that works to prevent youth crime in Paris’ rough suburbs, said the police committed ”homicide” and urged Sarkozy to apologize to the families.

”The youths died for nothing, and this death must not remain unpunished,” she said. ”If two youths had killed two police officers, by today they would already be imprisoned.”

They were killed BY THEIR OWN STUPIDITY, you turbaned freak!

And yes, the penalty for stupidity is often death. Not near often enough, however.

Stupid, sheep-burning, fromage-eating surrender monkeys.

My dear Sonia, if the two youths had beaten two police officers to death with their bare hands, the courts would have found the two officers guilty of assault and ordered their estates to cover the cost of ointment and bandages for the two youths’ scarred knuckles.

You’re not the only one confused here, Mindy.

The court’s conclusion was that the cops ought to have divined that the “yoots” were IN the substation and that, subsequently, they should have ordered all the power to the neighborhood be cut off (while admitting that there’s no reason to think that would have even worked).

The only ones being held completely blameless are the two deceased morons who decided to break into the substation and place themselves in danger.

Fortunately in a rare instance of common-sense from the our favorite tyrants on the bench, this matter has already been resolved in the U.S. (or at least for now). The police have no implied or mandated duty to protect anyone.

Yes Virgina GFW, that means if the police are a bit late to save your useless ass from the goblin kicking in your door, that’s just too bad.

The case you are referring to happened in DC. Two women escaped to a roof where they called 911. They reported several people had broken into their place. The police did a drive-by, no stop, nothing. The women were eventually found by the intruders, beaten and raped. They sued the police for not responding/protecting them and lost for the reason you specified Crunchie. That is what I remember from reading about it.

Hmmm, France has a good Samaritan law (thanks to parasitic bullshit stations network) that makes it a felony to not help someone?!?!

the Good Samaritan Law–which is a legal obligation in France upon onlookers to an accident to help someone in danger. You have an obligation in France to stop, call for help, and if you can–without endangering yourself–assist someone in danger. The law says that you must do that. And, of course, it is possible that they will be charged with failing to respect that law.

Well I just skimmed through what looks like a great article explaining WHY france and the rest of europe are such alien creatures. Not that the original author gets it right, he blows a lot of things way out of proportion, but it explains why these guys are so screwed up. Found it over on rightwingnation… I usually only skim his stuff and chuckle at the educrats that he rants about, but occasionally he has a few gems and this is one of them I think.

    Highlights:
    http://rightwingnation.com/index.php/2007/02/11/2929/

    Or for the whole enchalada:
    http://chronicle.com/temp/reprint.php?id=5cm8m89n8bpb099csz9qn8p6z7nzj8xp

Read it, you need to. Then you will see why calling the right wing in America “conservative” and the left-wing “progressive” is absolutely BACKWARDS. The leftards in America want to go back to the crap in Eunuchstan. If they love feudalism so much, then by all means they should definately move to Europe, and good riddance to bad rubbish.
