LCs (and Denizens, given that I’m cross-posting this over here), front & center please.

Granted the RottFest is going to be taking up a lot of your time, ammo & finances.  Not a problem.

HOWEVER…!!!

If I may ask a question to those of you who aren’t going (or, for that matter, those of you who are but can afford something else later)…

How would you feel about a Texas Blogfest ‘07 towards the end of April?  Say, the last weekend thereof?  Discuss here, if you please.

(Incidentally, I’ve already discussed this with my partner in crime the SpatulaGoddess, and she rather fancies the idea.)

I’ll be telling you the reason for the April date in exactly one week’s time.  Stay tuned.

Actually, I’d rather see something in late May or early June. I’d be done with classes for the summer and it would be warm enough for me to sling a leg over the T-Rex and save some gas by arriving on two wheels.

    Open thread, eh?

Can we see if there is some way that George, “worthless huevos” Bush take lessons in manhood from the Aussie Prime Minister?

    PM attacks Obama’s Iraq strategy

Prime Minister John Howard has lashed out at United States presidential hopeful Barack Obama over his plan to pull out US troops from Iraq early next year.

Senator Obama today officially declared his intention to run for the presidency of the United States.

Mr Howard told the Nine Network, Senator Obama’s plan is wrong.

“That would just encourage those who want to completely destabilise and destroy Iraq to hang on and hope for an Obama victory,” he said.

Senator Obama has put a March 2008 deadline on troop withdrawals.

I, too would have better luck in late May or early June or even later (a Hotter-’n-Hell Blogfest?).

I’m not too sure at this point. My vacation time is dry and I need to save up a few days for later in the year.

I thought you would NEVER ask!! End of May works for us unless the Imperial Mother decides to visit during that time, in which case I suppose we could bring her along! You guys would love her as We do! Really rather NOT have it any later in the summer than June. (I have a tendency to melt) LOL

For various reasons, Late May/June works better for me than April. (Mostly because Wannemachers is in early April, and I anticipate being rather broke if I make that little trip to Tulsa…)

I’m all for a Texas blogfest around that time period… As long as it’s timing doesn’t conflict with classes and work, I’d like to attend.

Would this one be at Austin or Dallas?

For reasons that will become abundantly clear in approximately one week’s time, this one will be in Dallas.

Now, if we have  to postpone it a couple of weeks and make it mid-May, that’s eminently doable - but it won’t be as much fun.

Every time I read this I hear bells……very curious.

Hey, howzabout a get together and a walking tour of Gettysburg? I’m heading there for a week of honoring both Yankees and Confederates this summer. Who knows, we may even be lucky enough to chase a ghost or two….

Any time between the last weekend of April and sometime in early June works for me! Heck, I’ll even drive from Houston to Dull-ass / Fort Worthless for that! :) We’ve got an obligation on the 20th-21st, but the next weekend would work (provided my wife doesn’t mind…).

    Rock on!

If that should come to pass, my Ol’ Lady manages two motels here in Cape Girardeau, MO. and we have appx. 75 rooms that I can get all the Rotties a good deal on. For those that don’t know where Cape is, we’re about 100 miles South of St. Louis on I-55, and there is an airport with connections to and from St. Louis.

Y’all come by and see us now, ya hear.

At the risk of sounding like a kook:

I doubt you’ll find many ghosts in Gettysburg. The dead there were laid to rest by Lincoln’s “Four score and seven years ago….” speech. You want ghosts, go to Antietam or Harper’s Ferry barely an hour’s drive further south.

I can do just about any weekend between April and June with a month or two of warning, if money permits. I cannot, however, take time off work right now, so I’ll be arriving Saturday and leaving Sunday if I do.

Yeah, roger that Clarion…I’ve felt that crowded feeling so many people have while walking the Sunken Road at Antietam…pretty unsettling. And Antietam is probably my favorite field to walk, it’s small and can easily be done in half a day, not to mention that the country around Sharpsburg is just beautiful…and it IS close to Gettysburg.

I’m thinking about heading there around early to mid-August. That seems to be prime re-enactor time as well so you get to see a good show too. I’ve found the best place to stay is the Holiday Inn Battlefield, it’s right on the edge of the battlefield and town and is within walking distance of the National Cemetary and the “cough” tourist shops “cough”.

Oh….and regarding ghosts at Gettysburg? someday I’ll tell you about MY close encounter out there.

Apparently while I’m looking for that, I’ll also try to find an amusement park, too. Seems the one we had here (Astroworld) got torn down so that Six Flags could sell the land.

Oh, wait. Y’all have a Six Flags too. Better make sure the corporate goobers don’t sell that one too, seeing how close it is to The Ballpark at Arlington (or whatever the new name is) and the future home of the Dallas Cowboys football field and in-house bail-bondsmen. :wink_wp:

There was going to be a NW Rottfest last year, in WA…sorry to see it didn’t happen. Maybe we could get Lars Larson to show up!
I’ll be overseas from April to August. If I can help it happen any time after that, please contact me.
