…because it tends to make you forget stuff that can be ever so embarrassing when you’re reminded of it later.

And apparently it’s an affliction that haunts Congressional Dhimmicrats in particular. Remember how the objectively pro-Haji party has been howling, screeching and moaning about the horrible “torture” methods being used by the CIA to protect American lives and how the implication has always been “if only we’d known sooner”, coupled with the usual pissing and panting from the Peanut Gallery at the Dreary Kos (among others) about “lack of oversight.”

Well, how’s this for oversight:

In September 2002, four members of Congress met in secret for a first look at a unique CIA program designed to wring vital information from reticent terrorism suspects in U.S. custody. For more than an hour, the bipartisan group, which included current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), was given a virtual tour of the CIA’s overseas detention sites and the harsh techniques interrogators had devised to try to make their prisoners talk.

“If only she’d known…” Oh, wait, scratch that… Oops.

They weren’t all that much outraged, OUTRAGED back then either, apparently:

Among the techniques described, said two officials present, was waterboarding, a practice that years later would be condemned as torture by Democrats and some Republicans on Capitol Hill. But on that day, no objections were raised. Instead, at least two lawmakers in the room asked the CIA to push harder, two U.S. officials said.

As a matter of fact, the Latter Day Torture Saints of the Dhimmicrat Party were anything but outraged:

“The briefer was specifically asked if the methods were tough enough,” said a U.S. official who witnessed the exchange.

Isn’t it amazing how actual facts like to come back and bite those hypocritical hucksters in the arse time and time again, and how their outrage, OUTRAGE seems to be coinciding strangely with, we don’t know, elections, maybe?

His Imperial Majesty may be a sadistic bastard on select issues, but at least we can credibly claim that we’re being a consistently sadistic bastard.

Thatisall.

Note: Since the article isn’t awfully specific, we suppose that it could be possible that the ones asking for tougher methods were one or both of the Republican members of the group, but even so we’re quite amazed at the utter lack of objections from the “oh so concerned” Dhimmicrats present. Not.

Whoever the two solons were who asked about making the interrogations more stringent have my full support for their next run–if they haven’t backtracked. The rest are hypocrites, liars and/or idiots. Graham says he didn’t know about waterboarding, despite being directly briefed on it–no doubt he was too busy daydreaming about pork or pressing someone’s flesh for a vote to pay attention to the briefing. Like DeeJ’s little fable, yesterday, it’s all a party during the campaign, but hell comes down after a feckless vote is cast.

Think back to 2002 for a moment. Just a few months from the attacks on 9/11, where any stated outrage over any interrogation tactic would be a political career killer.

It was a brilliant move by the administration to neutralize the Democratic leadership and immunize the administration calls for impeachment by the Democratic leadership.

    Why?

Because they became accomplices after the fact. By their very silence, they condoned it. I think this is part of the reason why Pelosi has stated that “impeachment is off the table”, because she knows if Bush goes down, she goes down with him.

It isn’t just this, there are a plethora of other things the administration could be taken down on. But to do so, would also bring down much of the leadership of both parties.

We live in some interesting times right now. I think we are going to see a major shakeup a year from now, not just from within the government, but within the parties themselves.

I think people in both parties are tired of the status quo, and want to jetison the “old guard” and start over.

….odd, I don’t see much reporting or investigation into who-knew-what-when about the Dems concerning this purported “torture”? Conversely, I don’t see the Right media repeatedly asking the question, when torturing some terrorist may save innocent lives, it it reasonable to assume that the lives of the latter supersede the “rights” of the murderous fuck under the screws?
On EITHER side, the media is falling down, far more so on the left, where this mindless support of the duplicitous and seditious bastards who currently run Congress amounts to Treason, ranges from the feigned outrage at the non-outing of a non-covert asset from the CIA, to the exposure by the NY Slimes of our covert methodology for tracking and interdicting terrorists, to the glad-handing and handling of the Dem candidates, the softball questions, the undisguised adoration of those who would destroy the country - engendering an anger and frustration that will one day demand a full accounting.
The awful (basic) premise of “Unintended Consequences” (John Ross) looms larger every day….

Don’t deny yourself small pleasures Sire otherwise you’ll end up wearing a hood and shooting powerbolts through your han… Never mind.

I used to smoke the pipe and cigars (never touched a cig in my life though!) until last January when I gave up to support my wife’s willingness to stop her cigarettes smoking. She’s been vacillating, but is trying to hold on. I’ve enjoyed two cuban cigars in the last four months (threats) and seem to be doing ok…
But the pipe is what I enjoyed the most, well packed with a sweet chocolate flavoured tobacco, or a nice, light smoke of Cherry tobacco, all very relaxing. I owned 92 pipes from around the world over the years, and yes, smoked them all in turn. Never a dull moment! However, a pouch of pipe tobacco (50 grms) would last me two weeks… And I gave it up to help my lady in her effort to stop…

    Damn I’m a good husband!

    In your dreams.

Actually no. It would be a nightmare. Personally I would settle for censure.

Sorry to burst your bubble but there are not a ‘plethora of things’ that could bring this administration down. The left has been out for Bush’s scalp since 2000 and they haven’t got it yet. The big reason is that despite their best efforts doing your job isn’t criminal — yet.

Just the fact that nobody has the stomach to do it, and the leadership has already come out to say that they won’t put it forward, and the fact that even IF impeached, there are not enough votes in the Senate to remove them doesn’t mean that there aren’t enough grounds for it.

And isn’t it interesting that the moment Bush came into office, one of the first things he did was to do away with the special prosecutor provisions.

And be honest here — if Bill Clinton had pulled even a tenth of the stuff that Bush has pulled in the past seven years, you don’t think that the Republican Congress prior to January 2007 wouldn’t have gotten him out of office, and you would be one of the loudest cheerleaders for it?

    Bush didn’t lie.

They ALL lie. Bush is no exception. The difference is, when Clinton lied, he lied about a blow job. When Bush lied, he took us into a war, and he has recently lied again, trying to get us into another war. He lied when he said he didn’t know about leaking a covert CIA agent and her operation (his former press secretary let THAT little gem slip before he was told to shut up).

I’ve been hearing “Come the revolution” for a long time. I’ll believe it when I see it.

What do you think happened in 1994? That was quite an apple cart turned over there.

You’re still pissed that Clinton got caught.

No, actually I thought it was awful stupid of him. But I also thought it was a complete waste of time, money, and resources to be going after him in the first place.

In fact, one could easily argue that if he hadn’t been bogged down with all that silly shit, he could have focused his attention towards — oh I dunno — Iraq, or Osama bin Laden, or any of the other issues you seem to want to blame HIM for.

It doesn’t matter what Republican would have won in 2000 the left would have done the same pissing and moaning about it. It means nothing anymore. It’s background noise. It has no more significance than a fly buzzing around your ear. It’s irritating but that’s all.

Well, if there had been a decisive win there probably wouldn’t have been all of the “pissing and moaning”. But there wasn’t. There was never a true outcome of the 2000 election.

But hey, if I were you, I would get all of your outrage stocked up, because you will be doing all the pissing and moaning in November of next year.

Do you really need the laundry list recited again?

But let me give you just one item, and remember — This is Bill Clinton now instead of George Bush.

[In my best Rod Serling] Picture if you will, a President Bill Clinton, and the news just got out that a CIA agent and her operation had just been exposed to several media people by members of the administration.

The Right wing is up in arms because it looks like the leakage was in retaliation for a news article written by this agent’s husband that details Clinton’s involvement with an intern.

Clinton comes on TV and says that he intends to get to the bottom of it and if anyone is involved in leaking classified information that includes agent’s identities, classified operations, etc, then they “will be taken care of”. (BTW: I am guessing that “taken care of” MUST mean commutation of sentence and probable pardoning soon, but I digress.)

A press secretary insists that neither Clinton nor his Vice President knows anything about it because he specifically asked them and they told him so. He believes them.

The Right-wing is STILL insisting that Clinton knows more than he is admitting to, and after a Grand Jury investigation, it is found that the VP Chief of Staff is obstructing the investigation and muddying the waters to the point that it will be impossible to further investigate. He is convicted of obstructing, but Clinton feels the standard sentence is “too harsh” and commutes it a fine paid for by Left-wing contributions to a legal defense fund.

    [/end of Rod Serling]

You people would be working overtime on this blog analyzing every picture, scouring every word, and the virtual microscope would be shoved far up Clinton’s ass just to see what he was going to have for dinner. All of this would be “FACT” added to the long list of other “FACTS” concerning Bill Clinton.

I keep hearing about this BDS thing concerning the Left’s “hatred” of Bush and all I can do is stare in disbelief. It’s like the eight solid years of constant ten-level attacks of the Clinton Administration never happened.

I would say more but I am feeling really sick right now and I need to go to the doctor’s.

But hey, you could always go visit Mahmoud-the-dinner-jacket’s new blog. You can even leave comments there.

    (c’mon, I know you can’t resist)

I’m sick and tired of the corruption in our government, and dont you dare say Dhimmocrats because the Republicans are just as guilty and I am sick and tired of being told every damn 4 years there is a difference between the two corporations, er I mean parties, wait no I dont. better than the .38 caliber pink slip they gave vince foster. :em93:

See how easy this is? It is like shooting fish in a barrel.

Here is this totally false claim sans any credible facts, and it has been pasted on the Clintons like superglue.

In contrast, there is a plethora of facts against BushCo and everyone here is conveniently blind to them. Bushbots.

Yes, one or two items by themselves and there is plausable denyability. But when you look at EVERYTHING together, you have to be a completly oblivious not to see the pattern of corruption.

I will be willing to bet that the Southern Libertarian and I don’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, but this appears to be one thing that we do agree on.

I also tend to agree that there is usually very little difference between both corporations parties.

Now I have to go away for a little while tomorrow morning. I am not sure how long I will be gone — it all depends on whether there are any serious complications or not.

I have posted my Daily Music Pick — and it is a GOOD ONE. I have the next several days set on a scheduled posting, and after that Aaron might do some posting if I am unable to.

    Peace.

Your absolutly right DJ. I have no facts whatsoever. I saw reports on t.v. where people claimed he did not die where he was found because there was no tissue splatter and not enough blood. his clothes and exposed skin had fibers on them as though he had been wrapped in a rug. the gun that was found with him was not, according to his wife, one of his. i do not know that any of this is true and i do not believe either of the Clintons are stupid enough to have killed him. so DJ what do you know as opposed to having heard from what you believe to be a creditable source?

The One who calls himself “Emperor”

Are you baiting me, pal? Well then, I’ll bite.

As Dj said it do I really have to rehash all the stuff this guy has done in office and has done to tarnish the name of the GOP.You know what the hell this man has done and dont you dare give me that neocon crap where you stick your fingers in your ears and your hands over your eyes and pretend to see nothing.

I know exactly what he’s done to tarnish the name of the GOP, so you really don’t need to be lecturing me on that. If you haven’t noticed, and obviously you haven’t, I’m not exactly one of his fanboiz, but what we’re talking about here is stuff that is actually impeachable, as opposed to “I just don’t like the cocksucking ‘compassionate conservative’ big spending, noodle-spined fuckweasel” which, added to a couple of bucks, will get you a fucking chai latte at the local Starbucks.

If proving that he’s a RINO, no-good, dickless asshole would get him kicked in the nuts, I’m your Huckleberry but, unfortunately, that just won’t fucking cut it in an actual court of law, dontcha know?

Dont you dare give me that crap. Personally if the Republicans ever want my vote again they need to kick every single one of those scumbags out in the streets where they belong.

Join the fucking club. I’ll even sign your membership card, seeing as how I pretty much founded the damn thing. Just don’t come here giving me any crap about me being a “neocon (whatever the Hell that might be, the definition seems to change every other Wednesday) sticking his fingers in his ears”, because I’ve slammed El Arbusto so fucking hard in the past that his sainted grandma ought to be having welts on her dead body.

I don’t like Bush or Clinton and personally would like to send every last one of em to Iraq and let them fight their own wars, I’m getting sick and tired of doing it for em.

I’m sure the fucking Hajis would be real impressed by a couple of old, flabby civil “servants” showing up to fight them but, unfortunately, here in the real world we have this saying:

“You may not give half a shit about the enemy, but it doesn’t matter one tiny little fuck in a mosquito’s ass if the enemy has a hard-on for you.”

Do I want this damn Long War that we’re in now? The fuck I do, and nor does anybody else with enough sense to fill Harry Reid’s jockstrap which, the last time it was measured, came up to about one thirty-second of an ounce. Unfortunately for all of us, we don’t have the option of opting out. This fight has been on and off for fourteen fucking centuries and even if it has managed to elude your limited attention span, it’s still fucking there. If you want to crawl under you crib, hug your teddy, stick your fingers in your ears and pray that the monster in the closet ain’t there then be my guest. Standing up to reality isn’t for everyone and, apart from that, he might be sufficiently distracted by your pathetic whimpering that I can get a good head shot in.

I’m sick and tired of the corruption in our government, and dont you dare say Dhimmocrats because the Republicans are just as guilty and I am sick and tired of being told every damn 4 years there is a difference between the two corporations…

Gee. Now we’re on the same page, boyo. Imagine that. Except for the fact that I’m not quite at the point where I think that the solution is to whimper, whine and howl and hoping that my cute pouting lips are going to make the bogey-man go away.

Let me give you all some straight talk, the Constitution of the United States isnt optional and it’s a crime no matter if its a Dhimmocrat or a GOPer who breaks it.

Who the fuck said otherwise? Tell me, because I’m all fucking ears here. As a matter of fact, I’m the only one in this thread who has actually bothered to point out one specific instance where the Constitution was actually, you know, violated by the current C-in-C, so could I have some credit?

And I’m not saying just impeach Bush, I say impeach every single goverment official who has now or who has ever advocated torture.

Depends on whether you know what torture actually is, doesn’t it? I do. If you’re calling waterboarding, sleep deprivation et al “torture”, then you’ve got some reading to do before I even want to discuss the subject with you.

Last time I checked we are the example that the rest of the world should be setting, lets start acting like it.

What example? That you’ll happily commit suicide if the alternative means forfeiting a moral high ground that nobody, NOBODY in the history of mankind has given two shits about? Go ahead, pipsqueak, set your example right now.

I don’t give a gnat in a rat’s arse about anything other than the survival of myself and the people I care about. If ensuring that means popping every last motherfucking soul on the planet right between the eyes, then hand me the fucking gun.

I have one objective: The survival of me and my loved ones and friends. Anybody standing in the way of that had better come armed with something more convincing than platitudes, because otherwise they’ll have three eyes very fucking shortly.

    Capisce?

    Deej,

After the bitch-slapping Misha gave you and Southern Libertarian I should take pity and not kick someone when they’re down, but that would be no fun.

The difference is, when Clinton lied, he lied about a blow job.

The difference is that when Clinton lied he lied to a federal grand jury. It’s called perjury, no matter what you’re lying about. You see, it’s a nuance thing. I know your side is supposed to be the king of the hill when it comes to understanding the subtleties but you guys are falling down on the job. You are focused on excusing Clinton’s behavior because it’s about sex (and everybody lies about sex, according to you) but the important fact {here’s the nuance} is that lying about sex is still lying and you don’t do that when testifying, no matter who you are.

In fact, one could easily argue that if he hadn’t been bogged down with all that silly shit, he could have focused his attention towards — oh I dunno — Iraq, or Osama bin Laden, or any of the other issues you seem to want to blame HIM for.

He might have been able to concentrate on his job better if he hadn’t been chasing interns getting blowjobs from them. His getting bogged down in the silly shit is his own fault, not anyone else’s. Even if he had concentrated more on Iraq or bin Laden he wouldn’t have gotten any further. There were opportunities to take out bin Laden that he was given and he threw them away, not because he was distracted but his world view is out of sync with reality, much like yours.

There was never a true outcome of the 2000 election.

Yes there was. Even if all the recounts had been given all the time they would have needed (thereby missing the deadline for inaugurating the new president which would have thrown us into a Constitutional crisis) Bush still won. Maybe you missed the news that after a year of counting chads this way and that it turned out Bush still won, no matter how they were considered.

But hey, if I were you, I would get all of your outrage stocked up, because you will be doing all the pissing and moaning in November of next year.

Naw, I’m sort of like Harry Truman, who was born just 25 miles from here. Someone once yelled out to Truman “Give’em hell Harry.” and Truman yelled back “I don’t have to, I just tell the truth and they think they’re in hell.”

For one thing Deej, it’s that nuance thing again. I’m conservative in many ways but I’m not a Republican. I was a registered Libertarian for around 10 years but I grew out of that. Right now I’m an Independent. I don’t belong to any party because I don’t believe in them. They aren’t mentioned in the Constitution. I believe there are good people in Congress who I might disagree with on some issues but I can still respect them. Ike Skelton, who is my Congressman, is one. I disagree with his positions on a lot of things but I agree with him on many others and I don’t think he holds those contrary opinions because of some venal reason, he, at least I think so, holds them for good and sufficient reasons of his own.

I grew up in a Democratic household. My father and brothers were all union. My dad was a millwright, my brothers all auto workers. I used to work at a sawmill and I was a member of the International Wood Workers.

But like the good book says (ok it isn’t exact) “When I was a child I spoke as a child but I have put childish things behind me.” I’ve moved on and it wasn’t into the Republican party.

    NevadaDailySteve @ 36

I’ve got a few moments before I have to leave to go check in. If I sound a bit disjointed, it is because I am a little nervous.

The difference is that when Clinton lied he lied to a federal grand jury.

You mean like Scooter Libby did?

The thing is, WHY was Clinton in front of the Grand Jury in the first place, other than the nation’s biggest hunt of a president in history? $77 Million dollars to find out that Clinton is a heterosexual horn dog. He wouldn’t be the first president to fit that category, and probably not the last.

The thing is, EVERYONE in the Bush administration has been lying and covering up on just about everything. And if they aren’t lying, they simply don’t show up for questioning.

You are focused on excusing Clinton’s behavior because it’s about sex (and everybody lies about sex, according to you) but the important fact {here’s the nuance} is that lying about sex is still lying and you don’t do that when testifying, no matter who you are.

I, like most Americans, didn’t feel that any of it was our business in the first place. Most people felt that the Paula Jones lawsuit could have waited until after Clinton was out of office, and that there was a reason why such lawsuits had always been put on hold until the partisan Supreme Court ruled that it could go ahead. Additionally, most people felt that the Jones case was wholly made up, and now we know that the evidence used was manufactured. (The troopers have since recanted their claims)

He might have been able to concentrate on his job better if he hadn’t been chasing interns getting blowjobs from them.

Chasing? She came onto him. And just how many blowjobs did she give? He had a couple of them, hardly enough to keep him busy.

No, most of his time was being tied up by all of the investigations and accusations. But nice try though.

Maybe you missed the news that after a year of counting chads this way and that it turned out Bush still won, no matter how they were considered.

From the Miami Herald, written only three months after the election?

Maybe you missed the National Opinion Research Center’s review sponsored by a consortium of major U.S. news organizations, where they found that after considering every conceivable scenario, there was still no way to definatively determine who had actually won. You can try them all out here if you’d like

Hense the reason why I said that regardless of the Supreme Court decision, the election was still unsettled, and that is why a good 50 percent of the people felt that the election was robbed.

Whether it was or not is really not the issue. It is the perception it was, and that is why there has always been a level of dislike for this administration.

If the Supreme Court had stopped the recount at a point where Gore was technically ahead, then the OTHER half of the country would have been up in arms, and you would have been a “Gore Hater” suffering from “GDS” or some other nonsense.

Well, I must put the toys away now and head on out. I have a series of tests for today before going under tomorrow morning.

    Wish me luck.

A young private at an Army base was court-martialed after a visit by vice-president Al Gore. It seems that before Gore’s arrival the sergeant told the private he would only be given one order to prepare for the visit. If something moved, salute it and if it didn’t move, paint it.
