Well, well, well, that didn’t take long.

The news had hardly broken that lives were saved in Colorado thanks to a brave, private citizen armed with a legal weapon before the impeccably credentialed and unbiased “journalists” of the MSM threw away their planned 14-installment eulogy for the poor misunderstood goblin and started devoting time to sliming the heroine instead:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - The security guard being credited with shooting the gunman responsible for the killings at a church and missionary training center in Colorado had been fired as a police officer in Minneapolis.

Minneapolis police say Jeanne Assam worked for that city’s department from 1993 to 1997, but was fired for lying during an internal investigation.

At least we know that the MSMidiots are capable of doing research. When it comes to digging out information in order to vilify and question a bona fide hero, that is. When that is what is at stake, they can dig 10 years back in order to find out that the Evil Private Citizen had lied. About what? Oh, but that’s the kicker:

The president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis says police were investigating a complaint that Assam swore at a bus driver while she was handling an incident on a city bus. He says Assam denied that she swore at the driver, but her actions were caught on tape.

Oh. My. G-D!!!!!1!!!one!!!11!

She cussed! At a BUS DRIVER! What a psycho! What a mentally unstable MANIAC! What a, a, MONSTER! BURN HER!

Yep. The Associated (with terrorists) Press can dedicate all manner of resources to finding out that an upstanding citizen credited with saving an untold number of lies fibbed about cussing at a bus driver 10 fucking years ago, but when it comes to doing even the most basic of fact checking on their latest terrorist stringer provided fable out of the Middle East… Not so much.

Rope. Tree. Journalist.
Some assembly required.

Oh, that’s right …. either be “The World’s Smartest Woman ™ ” aka the hildabeast, or show as much cleavage/thigh/panty as permissible. What it is, is Akismet doing its somewhat neurotic thing in trying to keep the site free of penis enlargement spam. In your case, it was simply because it wasn’t sure if you were legit and put you in the moderation queue for me (or somebody else with the keys) to liberate.

And when that’s done, it “learns”, or so the author of the plugin claims. So far, it’s doing very well except for the occasional annoying wait if you’re a “less prolific” commenter. For which I apologize.

My neighbors call me “one irreverant s.o.b.”. When I heard the Pope had been shot, my first comment was “gee, I guess his guardian angel was on break…”. I was called an heathen, an heretic, an hateful soul, a devil worshipper, a satan’s consort, you name it. I never received so many names in my entire life.

Same neighbors told me shortly after receiving the news that the Pope would survive “see, God protected him!”. And I answered “so nice, guess the Pope didn’t need all those doctors to remove the bullet and stabilize him euh?”. You guessed it, all of the above names, plus a few “choice invectives” were thrown at me. Did I care? Nah. When the scandal of the priests abusing little children came out, I made copies of ALL of the different articles and stuffed them inside these same neighbors’ mailboxes with a little note “guess the Big Guy was on vacation when this happened”…

Haven’t heard a peep since… And you should see the fun I have with Jehovah Witnesses coming at my door to peddle their stuff. When I answered the door I asked “are you the covenant group I was told to expect? I shaved the goat but haven’t started the ritual yet!” They now avoid my place like the plague :em99:. I even went to the door of one of them one early saturday morning (lives 6 streets away from mine) and started telling him about why the universe is self-contained thus no need for a creator, why the world has always been the way it is, and that there is no such thing as… You guessed right again! Slam! Hypocritical or what!?! Hey, I even had a perfect stranger shout at me in a parking lot about 5 years ago “G.d will smythe you!”. I’m still waiting… ( he turned out to be the brother-in-law of the JW I visited, died of stomach cancer 10 months later).

    Yeah, I am an atheist.

you should see the fun I have with Jehovah Witnesses

i haven’t had a visit from the JW since the summer of ‘88. i was still driving tt then and the JW’s would show up at least twice a month. the last they showed was the day i got home at about 9am after a really rough week. the wife went to visit her mother and i went to bed. at 10am the doorbell started ringing so i got up to answer it. i ask the two JW ladies ‘yes can i help you’ as politely as i could. after a moment of silence they said no and walked away. i headed back to bed, ripping the doorbell off the wall in passing, and had just laid back down when i realised i had not picked up my robe when i had gotten up to answer the door and as usual i was sleeping nude. :em93:

    Yeah, I am an atheist.

makes no never mind to me Hardclimber. when people pester me with ” xxxx is the answer” i always ask ‘what was the question’? i am not sure whether there is or isn’t a creator but if there is the duckbilled platypus assures me of it’s sense of humour.

They were here a few weeks ago and were just appalled I didn’t believe in God (this is a very evangelical area). “Do you believe in Satan” No. I thought that was a stupid question–I think of them as a matched set. They didn’t know what agnostic meant! They were nice enough, but I don’t like being dragged out of bed on a Sat morning to be converted.

I don’t go around telling people they shouldn’t believe in God. And I desire the same respect .

Same here. However, when they come at MY door, they’re free game (or were coming, in my case :em99: ). They didn’t know what agnostic meant because their conditionning does not allow them to be aware of differing points of view. That is why they give the impression of being like fish out of the water when confronted by everyday life outside their circle. They really believe that EVERYONE responds to conditionning the same way they do. And by ringing your doorbell in the morning on saturday, or any day of the week, they become they’re own worst ennemy… Even other denominations give me the impression of avoiding them like the plague, but that too is a personal observation…

I know, a lot of the good LC’s will object to the word “conditionning” but that is my personal opinion as to what religion is. I do not mean disrespect to anyone who believes, or believes differently. You may choose to take offense at my words but you still get my respect…

    Fair enough?

The Star and Sickle in MPLS ran the same hit piece. They are pissed because the only blood running in the streets here is being spilled by criminals, not by the thousands of card carrying gun nuts as they predicted would happen when the law was being debated. I mean that literally, they actually used those words. They also predicted fender benders turning into gunfights on our streets and highways and other omens of doom and gloom. It’s a rag! The MPD admin is so politically correct they reek. That’s why she was canned.
A while back they released a statement from a gangbanger who said the inniocent man he murdered tried to buy drugs from him. The victim was not known to do drugs, had no drugs in his system and had no money with him. He was out for a bike ride. The scumbag killed the bike rider because he could, because he felt like it, because he was a banger and a bad mother fucker, don’t ya know. Yet the MPD released his excuse for murdering the man to try to show random murders don’t happen in MPLS (my ass!) and their city is safe. (my ass!) The two detectives who worked the murder went and apologized to the family and told them that statement was bs. They were both demoted and transferred out of the homicide unit.

The victim’s name was Mark Loesch.

Read past the first couple paragraphs.

This is one of those wry moments when you realize God really does have it all under control, can juggle more stuff than any of us can imagine and has a wicked sense of humor to boot. Note the observations that Ms. Assam, if she’d still been a cop, wouldn’t have been at the church. Consider that had she perhaps not had a bad time in the past, she might not have so thoroughly placed her reliance in God that she accepted His guidance at the critical moment. While she stopped the shooter, she didn’t kill him–she has still taken no life–because he offed himself. The fact that she didn’t kill him with several hits provides admonishment that we all need to bump up to .40 or better and be sure to use first rate, expanding projectiles for defense. In this instance, unlike some others, that lesson came without cost. Now the gfws and media scum also display their whiney, bottom-feeding ways by weakly and unfairly attacking a woman every regular person regards as, if not a hero, at least an honorable defender. Hitchcock or Altman couldn’t have woven together a more disjointed series of vignettes into such a powerful, multi-faceted display of truth. And btw, if anyone knows how we can send our kudos, prayers and thanks, just as fellow Americans, to Ms. Assam and maybe Joe Horn, too, it’d be appreciated, if you’d put the word out there.

LC Hardclimber54 said, “…isn’t it kind of ironic that someone would need to take a weapon in a church nowadays…”

Historically, men in America have carried in church. In colonial times, there were ordinances requiring it, if memory serves. Failing to be prepared at any time and to be cognizant of known, potential threats (like lightning) has nothing to do with faith in God. It has to do with using the intelligence God gave us. The crap with the Catlicks you mention is not evidence the “Big Guy” was on vacation, it’s evidence of what happens when people put their faith in men, particularly a notoriously, historically corrupt, exploitative, sexually “tense” and secretive organization of men, rather than in God (Hang out with some RC priests for a little while–most are pretty good guys, but I wouldn’t rely on ‘em as my conduit to God, nor as caregivers for my adolescent children–nuns, even moreso). That’s how my belief works–I have absolute faith that God made me and the universe and like the ultimate loving parent, expects me to have some sense and gratitude in enjoying it all.

Hilljohnny–not dissing her gun, but not surprised to confirm it was a pea-shooter:

Police spokesman Skip Arms said…Jeanne Assam, the volunteer security guard at New Life who shot and wounded Murray, had a Beretta 9mm semiautomatic handgun and fired a total of 10 rounds.

    http://northshorejournal.org/index.php/2007/12/more-about-jeanne-assam

Of course a .356 hole in the right spot is just as good as a .45, but you’ve got to be .1″ better shot and the force delivered to the target by a @230 grain .45 slug, versus a 9mm @ 120 grains is a significant difference in “stopping power.” I’d wager 10 rounds of .45 ball on target, even with body armor, would render almost anyone unconscious, even if no shot penetrated enough to be fatal.

The fact that she fired 10 and downed, but didn’t kill the guy is, for me, proof of the divine factor–God spared Assam the trouble of killing this scum. Why hadn’t she upgraded to a .40, like almost every policewoman I know? For this, one might say.

She’s an enemy of the state!
    1st…..She was armed.
2nd….She prevented the further taking of innocent lives.
3rd…..She invoked the name of GOD an attributed HIM with her success.
    4th…..She’s a woman.
The gummint, MSM, the Brady’s et al. will not tolerate any of these.

Look for more vilification of a genuine American heroine.

AyUaxe i was just ragging you buddy. i agree, the 9mm is my last choice for carry unless its loaded with glaser safety slugs and even the i’m not sure if it would defeat better than level II. my first choice would be my S&W model 13 loaded with either glasers or the georgia arms deer stomper because its the closest to what i learned to shoot with way back when. next is the .45. the reason i like the glasers is they dump all their energy in your target instead of wounding the two people behind the goblin. i hate overpenetration.

She invoked the name of GOD an attributed HIM with her success.

I have the greatest respect for people with profound faith, and she did a wonderful thing. However, I don’t see why she would be criticized for that. This is a heavily Christian country, after all. (Several of us non-Christians were just complaining about conversion attempts in this thread.)

The Brady campaign tries to control guns; they could care less about religion.

The current government tends to be religious

ABC News: “Hero Praises God for Steady Hand”

Plenty of shooting rampages the last several years have been stopped by armed citizens.

And it’s precisely BECAUSE they get stopped early and ‘derailed’ by the unexpected armed citizen that they get far less attention and media coverage than the one where the killer/s meet no resistance and rack up a high body count.

The Law School Shooting several years ago, the mall shooting in Utah, I think it was, where an off duty cop kept the shooter ducking for cover until the on duty cops could arrive; even during the big spate of school shootings that culminated in Columbine we had the Luke Woodham shooting where the asst. principal went and got a gun out of his car and subdued him.

Those don’t get much media play at all because the shooters don’t kill that many people.

If when he was on his 3rd victim at VT some outlaw student who didn’t give a flying f**k about the no gun zone signs had pulled out an illegal weapon and seriously wounded/killed Psy-Cho so that his body count didn’t exceed 5 it would have been the same blip on the radar screen that the Colorado church shooting has become.

Except for the stories about the hero student getting expelled for the gun.
