OK, so we said we weren’t going to touch this subject anymore. So sue us.

One of the many wailing lamentations issued after the Coulter Clash (Coulture Wars?) was along the lines of how her horrid, HORRID comments had hurt Rudy McRomney and taken the wind out of their sails by drawing attention away from their fabulous (can we still say “fabulous?”) speeches.

Thanks, Ann.

No, seriously, if that’s the case then we really owe you one.

***UPDATE:*** Ouch AGAIN!

Oh, and this one is really going to ruffle some feathers, because it’s undoubtedly true in some cases. Not all cases, I don’t much care for people playing mind readers and I care even less for doing so myself, so if the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t come throwing froth and spittle in my comments. It’s only an insult to you if it’s aimed at you, after all. Not that I see it as much of an insult in the first place. We all have different priorities, and if one of yours happens to be making a buck off of all of the hours you put into blogging (and it is a lot of hours), maybe even landing a professional writing gig one day, then I can’t say as I blame you. It’s capitalism at its finest, after all.

If it would be politically correct to use the term “faggot” I would use it for that picture…But I cannot call them faggots….too bad

After reading tons of blogs and hundreds of comments on this subject, I must say I’m a bit tired of it.

But I’ve come to the conclusion that the right side of the blogosphere actually made a bigger deal about it than the left.

I’ve also come to the conclusion that it not because they were, “offended,” by what Coulter said, it is because they were instantly aware that the libs were going to make hay over this, and they wanted to distance themselves from that.

The knee jerk, “She called John Edwards a faggot,” reaction was actually humorous, as was the lightning-fast way they threw Ann under the bus, “for the children.” Not only was Ann’s meaning not even considered, or the fact that it was a joke, it was labeled, “hateful bigotry,” by the right, BEFORE the left even touched it.

The same people who were screaming at Ann for her, “personal insult,” were calling her names, such as bitch, shrieking harpy, idiot, etc. They didn’t see the irony, though. After awhile, those who defended Ann were accused of being stupid, etc.

These are the people who insisted we must, “take the high road.”

    What irony!

    “Knee-jerk,” Janet?

The problem here was that the CPAC conference this year was apparently little more than a circle-jerk of nominally-conservative politicos and pundits who got together for a greet-and-grope and a group hug, where nothing of substance was actually accomplished. I base my opinion on the fact that the only newsworthy thing that came out of CPAC this year was Coulter’s schoolyard taunting of John Edwards. If Ann hadn’t shot off her mouth, nobody would have noticed the conference at all.

For that matter, I’m not sure CPAC has accomplished anything for the conservative movement in years. What was the only noteworthy thing about last year’s conference? That’s right, Ann Coulter, who upset the same cast of shrinking violets by calling radical Muslims “ragheads.”

Yes, I too lament that Ann Coulter seems to have recently traded her rapier wit for a meat axe. On the other hand…she’s also one of the few people on our side with the balls to fight the liberals on their own terms.

    Yes, “knee jerk.”

I say that because Ann had a point about liberal hypocrisy and PC speech, but that was mostly ignored in favor of headlines all over the blogs, “Coulter calls Edwards a faggot.”

Not exactly the whole story told, there.

Although, I must say that there was so much talk about the wonderful speeches, blah, blah, blah…yet all they talked about on Hot Air, and many other sites was Coulter.

Bryan, on the HotAir blog wrote three posts about Coulter and his, “condemnation,” of her, but little else about the conference. So, I can’t help but wonder if you’re exactly right about how little was accomplished at this CPAC conference.

It’s also quite true that the only thing memorable about last year’s conference was the, “raghead,” comment…yet, they invited Coulter back. That’s something else I don’t understand. If they didn’t want Ann to, “be Ann,” then why did they invite her?
