We told you that it wouldn’t be long after The Great Global Warming Swindle was aired before the deranged, unhinged, frothing fanatics of the Church of the Goreacle would lose it (link thanks to LC & IB Ace):

Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming.

Given the obvious Gore Effect that we’ve been seeing lately, it’s unlikely he would see any if he lived to be a hundred and fifty.

“Western governments have pumped billions of dollars into careers and institutes and they feel threatened,” said the professor.

But of course. Nobody likes to see the teat that they’ve been sucking on for so many years, no evidence or actual work required, suddenly drying up.

“I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal.”

It’s also unintentionally funny, seeing as how those freaks are pretty much all socialists. You know, as in National Socialists. I guess they’re speaking from a position of authority on Holocaust denial.

Richard Lindzen, the professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology - who also appeared on the documentary - recently claimed: “Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges.

Because, as we all know, the worthless, corrupt hacks feeding bogus numbers into even more bogus “models” to get the results that they want are completely altruistic, doing all of their work for absolutely free.

Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, agreed. He said: “The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do.”

Just like every other socialist. From Marx to Adolf Hitler, to Stalin and Hillary Clinton.

All chips off of the same, oppressive, filthy, malignant log.

I read a book tiled “History of the SS” once by an author named G S Graber back when I was 9 or 10 (yeah I was a young reader, read “War and Peace” at 11 and “Adolf Hitler” by Toland at 12). I remember him very pointedly saying that the Nazis would feel most at home in the modern environmentalist movement. That was way back in 79 0r 80. Man did he call it or what?

Their enviro-whacko cause is their religion, founded by Al “I created the Internet!” Gore, their pseudo-savior. Deviate from it and you will burn for heresy.

Now that Al has his Oscar, he can use it as a rock to build his church.

As an aside, I was thumbing through USA Weekend in the Sunday rag and noticed an article on “carbon credits.” (Also known to us logical types as the modern-day equivalent of the sale of monetary indulgences.) It was a glowing article. (No surprise there, really.)

I’m just trying to figure out how many retards are actually going to buy into this whole thing before all is said and done.

The Great Global Warming Swindle is, of course, devastating to the religion of AGW.

Take away points from the documentary:

-The modern environmentalist movement is fundamentally racist preferring white, 1st world countries over poor, black developing countries.
-Follow the money. Claiming that the sky is falling has created a huge global warming scare industry.
-The IPCC report is a fraud on multiple levels, not the least of which is they claim more people agree with the report than really do and that more people “contributed” to it than really did.
-Cosmic rays cause clouds… Clouds cool the earth. Solar activity diminishes cosmic radiation… less cosmic radiation, less clouds, more global warming.

    and my favorite:

-Increases in C02 levels FOLLOW increases in global warming levels, not the other way around.

There are lots of other great points made and supported in the documentary but these five points alone put the lie to the whole AGW agenda.

One part of the documentary is particularly alarming. There is footage from an environmental rally in London in which some fascist (used in the specifically dictionary sense) stands before a crowd of cheering sheeple and says:

“British based corporations are some of the worst climate criminals on the planet. Shell is based in the UK, right here in London we have the right and the duty to take it back into public ownership, dismantle it, break it up, and send its managers to rehabilitation training.”

This is the kind of thinking we’re up against. Totalitarians swaying the masses using propaganda and disinformation of the worst sort. Today it is executives at Shell, tomorrow it will be everyone who drives an internal combustion engine. I guess we might as well start packing for a visit to the re-education camps…

On an ironic note, I have to wonder how much greenhouse gas was produced by this particular environmental rally in London. And I also wonder if the fascist on the platform, spewing his hate, got to the rally in a vehicle powered by oil pumped from the ground by the evil Shell corporation.

They are scared. They are scared because they made the mistake of saying that we would see RADICAL changes in the next ten years. Now two paths are open

    1) We do nothing and in ten years we find out that it is a scam (as we don’t see any radical changes), or,

    2) We do something and nothing happens, and they can claim they stopped it.

So here they are painted into a corner, they must enact ENOUGH changes so they can CLAIM that they stopped our sure destruction. If they can’t do that then the whole thing is exposed as a scam.

These eco-socialists Gaians believe that capitalism is inherently harmful to society and the environment due to waste, pollution, and overconsumption. Eco-socialists are often described as Red Greens - adherents to Green politics with clear anti-capitalist views, often inspired by Marxism.

The radical environmental movement is about political change, not saving the environment. The global warming hysteria is nothing more than a Communistic and Socialistic political agenda disguised as an environmental movement so that the uninformed citizens won’t realize what’s happening to them. It’s about politics, not science. The goal of the global warming movement is revolution from the top down. Listen to them and you’ll primarily hear them preaching about affecting social change, not genuine science.

What the High Holy Goracle is preaching is nothing more than the blatant fabrication of misinformation disguised as scientific fact designed to emotionally pull people into embracing his hidden ideology. Yes, it’s that important - and that dangerous.

Doesn’t anyone remember back to 2002 when activist Keith Lockitch claimed that species are vanishing at the rate of 40,000 per year? It turned out to be complete rubbish, invented by acclaimed environmentalist Norman Myers in his 1979 book “The Sinking Ark”. These eco-socialists have no compunction about inventing the imaginary threats from which it supposedly needs to be saved.

“Earth Day” has evolved to pressure school children and ignorant adults to adopt the Greens’ political views, not genuinely saving the planet from imminent destruction. These people use environmentalism as the emotional hook to draw people into the support of actions that advance the Socialistic and Communistic agenda. It should be no surprise that in 1998 the Socialist and Green political parties in Oregon merged - they have the same goals.

And “climatologists” who support global warming get their funding from… Oh, that’s right, organizations that fund research to reverse the tide of global warming. But you sort of have to accept that global warming is true before you commit money to, well, fight it.

certainly he would never allow that to influence the results of his ground-breaking scientific research.

No more so than any scientist whose funds-granting organization is committed to studying the impact of/stopping/reversing global warming.

It would be a bit uncomfortable if one of your grant recipients came back and said, “Hey - uhm, global warming isn’t the horrible threat you seem to think it is.”

Are you saying that because big oil might be funding research that it has somehow managed to change physics in the process. Are you saying that Mr. Sun IS NOT responsible for warming the oceans which in turn, release C02 into the atmosphere?

what you are saying is that the research results of the multitude of scientists, who have published work subjected to peer review, is less credible than someone who has not had any of his work peer reviewed. this would indicate that the peer reviewers are also participating in scam you describe.
ok…seems perfectly logical…so let me ask you a question…let’s say for a minute that 95% of the science on the subject is dead wrong and tim “oil can” ball is right…what have we risked if we reduce our carbon output just the same? air would be cleaner. we wouldn’t be as addicted to mid-east oil. a ton of jobs would be created by new industries created by new technologies. maybe it’s me…i don’t really see a big down-side.

Ball is… funded almost exclusively by big oil

Your original post didn’t say that he used to be “heavily funded” by oil groups or that he is associated with people who are associated with big oil. You claimed he got his “paycheck” from Big Oil.

Unless you can prove that he is currently getting his paycheck from Big Oil then it is YOU, my friend, who are failing to come to this party with facts.

As for peer review, this is one of the weakest arguments you can fall back on (although not as weak as the “guilt by association” canard). Peer review is done by like-minded peers. A good example of this is in the ID vs. Evolution debate. There are tons of papers written to support ID but they don’t get peer reviewed because those doing the reviewing are evolutionists. They own the football and IDers are not allowed to play. It is the same with the AGW skeptics. You are a pariah and a “denier” if you even question the assumptions behind AGW. Expect to lose your funding, get death threats, and give up on years of reputation building if you stand up to the totalitarians controlling the debate.

I put this question to you again Jay, can you refute the data outlined in the documentary? Do increases in atmospheric C02 precede warming or follow it?

let’s say for a minute that 95% of the science on the subject is dead wrong and tim “oil can” ball is right…what have we risked if we reduce our carbon output just the same?

This article presupposes the dangers of Global Warming. However, it also explicity states that stabilizing greenhouse emissions without causing serious economic damage at this time, or in the foreseeable future, is impossible.

    That’s just for starters… let’s continue:

    air would be cleaner.

OK, so let’s look at the original McCain-Lieberman bill’s (S. 139) proposal - the best case. It proposes to reduce our greenhouse gas output by about 32,000 tons, which would cause a 0.04 degree decrease in global temperature by 2050. The ‘lite’ version of this bill (S.A. 2028 and S. 1151) would reduce global temperature by about 0.029 degrees by 2050.

Wow - that’s really clean air, right? Not really - these bills make an imperceptible dent in global temperature. How much does McCain-Lieberman (the first) cost? $1.35 Trillion.

    maybe it’s me…i don’t really see a big down-side.

Unless you’re a theoretical mathematician, 1,350,000,000,000 is big.

we wouldn’t be as addicted to mid-east oil.

Our current energy needs can’t be met by “alternative” energy sources. Kyoto recognizes that significant energy reduction is a critical piece of the solution to reducing greenhouse emissions.

The only way we’re going to reduce our addiction is by using less, not by finding a suitable replacement. And in case you’re tempted to say that we could just not all drive SUV’s, realize that by “use less” I mean we all don the Jimmy Carter cardigan and huddle together for warmth around a fire. Not just, “drive hybrid cars.”

a ton of jobs would be created by new industries created by new technologies.

This is the Econ 101 “broken window” fallacy, revised for modern times. It goes like this:

If a vandal throws a rock through a shoe store window, he’s actually *creating* wealth through his destruction. See, the shoe-guy must now hire a janitor to clean up the mess. This creates work for the janitor. Next, he has to hire a window installer, who must in turn buy a window from a window factory! See? All that work, caused by a vandal, who we, until now, thought was just being destructive!

But the fallacy lies in the things not created. It’s harder for us to imagine the shoes that weren’t made, and sold, the new shoe-store employee who wasn’t hired, the family that wasn’t fed, because of the vandal’s actions.

See, you can’t ever create wealth by destroying it. And destroying our current sources of energy by making them illegal doesn’t “create” anything.

Now here’s my question to you: How do you feel about using nuclear power to fulfill our energy needs, thereby reducing our carbon emissions, and our dependence on foreign oil?

How many grains of sand are on the beach that the Goreacle flies his “green-powered” jet to for a vacation?

a ton of jobs would be created by new industries created by new technologies.

This statement assumes that the new technologies would magically appear over night, simply because the new green laws would require us to have them. The soviets attempted something similar with their five-year plans, and we know how well that all worked out.
Then there is a the problem of disposal of these new technologies. I recall reading an article that suggested that there is no inexpensive way to dispose of the batteries in hybrid cars that wouldn’t violate current environmental laws. But, hey, feel free to ignore the inescapable fact that beyond that hill is…another hill.

    Excellent points Baboo. Nicely put.

Like you, one phrase stood out:

a ton of jobs would be created by new industries created by new technologies.

Who creates these jobs? The underlying assumption here is that the research on “new technologies” being discussed are underwritten by GOVERNMENT. I don’t want government creating new jobs. It is well established that government saps away money from the private sector where job creation is much more efficient and beneficial.

Another way of looking at this would be, if there was money to be made in alternative energy like wind and solar, then industry would be investing heavily in it. However, industry knows that these are largely dead-end technologies. Given that oil is abundant, getting cleaner all the time to refine and burn, is under our own ground, and we have the infrastructure to utilize it, why would we not continue to pursue it as the ideal energy source?

Short of going nuclear (my preferred option), oil is about the perfect power source. As most people know, we need oil for lubrication and plastic manufacturing. Gasoline is the byproduct of the refining process and so, unless we plan to just dump gas in the gutter, I say we use it as a fuel.

As I have said before, if this country was currently relying on solar, environmentalists would be complaining about “Big Solar” and the damage large solar farms and the panel manufacturing operations are doing to the planet. They would probably be demanding that we reduce our reliance on solar and turn to the more efficient and abundant energy source currently leaking out of the bottom of the sea beds off the coast of Santa Barbara. :ponder_tb:

This is the Econ 101 “broken window” fallacy, revised for modern times. It goes like this:

That notion of ‘popular fallacy = indisputable evidence’ is a favorite for the libtards and is a main joist in their campaign platforms.
They don’t care what the effects are, only that the pc rules are passed.

It’s also why, when I’m asked by a foreigner what the difference between a democrat and a Republican is, they’ll get the reply “dems believe that the money comes from somewhere, Repubs know it comes from someone.”

The idea that there are repercussions beyond the pie in the sky campaign-part are irrelevant to the lib’side.

Just like the 3 mil’ folks murdered when we bailed out of Vietnam, and the one’s who’re gonna die if we bolt from the middle east before finishing the job: libs don’t feel even a smidge of responsibility, and will castigate the snot out of anyone who suggest’s they should.

I’m thinking that they just lack a certain gene that enables the cause-vs-effect part of their crititcal thinking routines to operate effectively.

When you engage them in “debate”, the ‘effect’ part is not going to be willfully examined, and anyone who presses them on the issure to that length will surely know grief.
They can’t go there, they know it, prepare to be shouted down.

Wonderful, we’ve attracted yet another clueless idiot with absolutely no understanding of what makes a halfway decent attempt at presenting an argument.

it absolutely does not matter where tim ball gets his pay-check from…certainly he would never allow that to influence the results of his ground-breaking scientific research.

A short comment relating purely to style, and then we’ll move on to the actual “substance”, however meager it is, of what you’re saying: Eschewing basic tenets of grammar such as capitalization does not grant you the status of e.e.cummings. Assuming, of course that there’s any status associated with that in the first place.

Rather, it suggests a certain level of intellectual laziness combined with the adolescent rage against convention so often associated with teen chat rooms on AOL. Now, I’m certainly not saying that showing basic levels of literacy is required for you to comment here, you can read like a 12-year-old (with my apologies to actual 12-year-olds everywhere) as much as you like, I’m just telling you that if you think that anybody is impressed with your anti-establishmentarianism, you’re sadly mistaken, much in the same fashion that you won’t be impressing anybody by showing up for a job interview looking like a particularly unkempt homeless person, no matter how much you may feel that your appearance underscores your individualism and disregard for established mores.

At any rate, your parents ought to have already explained that to you, one of the many thankless tasks associated with parenthood that we gladly take upon ourselves in exchange for the many joys associated with it, so let’s move on: Disregarding for the nonce the sad absence of actual corroborating evidence for your claim that Mr Ball is, entirely, a paid shill for the Evil Big Oil, a disregard almost as wanton and unwarranted as the Global Warming Swindle Sycophants show when they glibly disregard inconvenient scientifical data, am I to walk away from this with the understanding that you see no problem in threatening to murder him because of it?

Interesting, although I already suspected as much from your side of the debate. And when I say “suspected”, I mean “knew beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Is the source of his funding of interest in the debate? Most certainly. It is one of the very first things you learn to take a look at when engaging in source critique.

And so is the source of funding for the other side in the debate because they, altruistic and selfless though they may claim to be, also have bills to pay and, as is well known to anybody who has ever actually held a job, if the reason for your job’s existence disappears, so does your job.

That out of the way, most intelligent people and serious scientists/investigators, you name it, will look into the actual substance of the argument being made by the actor.

Am I to understand that you have conclusive evidence disproving the alleged lag between warming and CO2 levels? Am I to understand that you have any sort of evidence disproving any of the claims made by professor Ball beyond “he’s being paid by Big Oil”, a claim that you have yet to produce any sort of evidence for?

Or are you simply sticking to that talking point, disregarding the merits of his claims? If the latter, you’re no more relevant to an intelligent discussion of the issues than the market value of plywood in Finland.

what you are saying is that the research results of the multitude of scientists, who have published work subjected to peer review, is less credible than someone who has not had any of his work peer reviewed.

Are you aware that numerous parts of the IPCC’s report that directly and flat out (redundancy, I know) contradicted the findings of said august panel were edited out? Conclusions and findings made by the actual peers of the peer review?

Are you aware that at least one accredited specialist of his area (more if you’re to believe his claims in the TV program that is the subject of this post) was included, against his wishes and in complete disregard of the fact that he had not in any way contributed to its “findings”, in the list of 2,500 “assenting” scientists attributed to the IPCC report, and that this particular expert had to threaten with legal action to have his name removed from the report?

Here’s a free hint: “Peer” does not mean “only the people that agree with me.” Peer review used to mean something, but that was before somebody thought up the brilliant idea of only allowing a certain kind of “peers.” As it is now, it has been reduced to nothing but a rubber stamp for whatever happens to be chic at the moment, which is very sad, and I say this as somebody who’s been drawing paychecks from work in science for pretty much all of his professional life.

so let me ask you a question…let’s say for a minute that 95% of the science on the subject is dead wrong and tim “oil can” ball is right…what have we risked if we reduce our carbon output just the same? air would be cleaner. we wouldn’t be as addicted to mid-east oil. a ton of jobs would be created by new industries created by new technologies. maybe it’s me…i don’t really see a big down-side.

    Here’s what’s wrong with it:

Our economy would tank. We don’t have a “made for prime time” alternative to our sources of energy just itching to go online at the moment. We have a lot of interesting and very good theories about what might one day eliminate our dependency on fossil fuels, which is a good thing, and not just for environmentalist reasons, although we can all agree that less pollution is better. And CO2, by the way, is NOT pollution. It’s what you breathe out every day and, indeed, it is a building block of all life on this planet.

It’s also a good thing because it would, and will, make the inventors rich beyond the wildest dreams of Croesus, which is why billions of dollars are being pumped into it by very much private companies.

But we don’t have it now, so we can either go on as we’re doing it right now, or we can set our entire production apparatus, economy and standard of living back a few centuries. And if you think that that isn’t all that high a price to pay, “just in case”, then I suggest that you sell all of your belongings and go live in the boonies of Kenya for a while. Just make sure to keep the money from your fire sale, because you’ll be back in a few weeks, thoroughly disabused of your romantic notions of living in a mud hut with nothing but dried cow dung for fuel.

And that’s just us. What all too many starry-eyed idealists fail to understand is that the only reason that anybody has, say, a tractor in Kenya is that we in the industrialized nations have made it so abundantly cheap to produce that even they can afford it.

Outlaw the use of fossil fuels and they can wave goodbye to the amenities that you and I take for granted, because we won’t be producing them at a price that they can afford anymore. And, what’s worse, they won’t be able to produce it themselves either, or perhaps you wish to explain to me how you’ll make a tractor factory and a steel mill run on solar cells and windmills.

If you can, I’ll move heaven and earth to get your idea into production and we’ll both be billionaires within a year, that much I promise you.

So not only are you suggesting that we should cripple ourselves, “just in case”, you’re basically telling the entire developing world that they can just go starve and die in the dark.

    “Just in case.”

Even Hitler wasn’t that callous about human life which, I must admit, is quite impressive. You socialists have managed to make even national socialists look like Mother Theresa by comparison.

Now get the fuck off my planet, you scum.

Jay K– You mention that Mr Ball’s studies are in disagreement with 95% of all other scientific studies. Is that fact, or just a random number used to bolster your argument? A recent poll of members of the American Meterological Assoc. showed that 85% of respondents disagreed with Heidi Cullen’s views on global warming. Most also feared retribution or censure if they publicly voiced their differing views.

Would you at least agree that MANY of the individuals who are claiming global warming as fact, are simply following perceived public opinion, and haven’t done ANY research on their own?

Would you at least agree that the issue of global warming is driven more by EMOTIONAL and POLITICAL perspective than rational perspective or scientific fact?

The hardest part of all this whining from the little deluded libruls for me to understand:

There are exactly two currently available technologies that could reduce the “carbon footprint” of our species, and the same little deluded libruls are blocking BOTH of them:

    1) Nuclear power. Proven, mature technology. IIRC, *spit* fwance *spit* is getting north of 80% of it’s electricity from nuclear power plants. The U.S. is at about 15%. The sum total of the nuke waste generated from the time of the first reactor under the stadium at the University of Chicago to present day for the entire world would fit in a medium warehouse. That small a concentration can be safely put away, in any of several different ways. Blocked by little deluded libruls because the word “nuclear” automatically means “bomb” to these dipshits.

    2) Solar Power Sattelites. There are exactly NO scientific challenges. Everything needed is currently possible, the tech isn’t quite off the shelf, but we already know HOW. From the launch platforms (we need something better than the shuttle anyway) to the solar cells, to the orbital mechanics, to the microwave beamers and receivers, we have nothing except engineering issues. Don’t wanna have chemical rockets? Laser launch has been proven. NASA went with brute force and ignorance in 1961, and have been shoving square pegs into round holes ever since. Get the hell out of Bert Rutan’s way, and watch the smoke.

    =================

Alternatively, all the “green” tech that AlBore and ilk are pushing is not just technically infeasable, but economically impossible. One example - when I was in the People’s Republic of KKKalifornistan, I used to see windmills on every flat piece of ground thay could put one on. HUGE wind farms everywhere. Looked like a great idea, until I did some research. From the State’s own published data, one windmill would have to operate for 28 FUCKING YEARS, without interruption for repairs, to pay for itself.

    Right.

OK, then, let’s look at water power. Look around - see any major (or, hell, minor) rivers / streams / etc., with a water head that isn’t already being tapped? Didn’t think there were many. How about Ocean Taps (getting power from the ocean currents and temperature differential)? Look at the problem with wind power - it’s just not ECONOMICAL.

Recycling? So far, only aluminum and steel pay for themselves. Everything else is sucking money from some government, somewhere.

I’m sorry, libruls - if it does not pay for itself, it IS NOT GONNA WORK. Oh, short term, you can force the people (through the coercive power of the government) to pay for crap like this, but don’t expect it to go on for long before the people who have gotten used to a great life to take matters into their own hands.

    ==============

That leaves reduce the use of power. Following Kyoto and it’s requirements would result in the crippling of the U.S. economy, as His Majesty so ably pointed out. Then, when everybody is FLAT FUCKING BROKE, and the third world has starved itself into eternity, where are you gonna steal the tax money to pay for all your other magic crap?

C’mon Will, not everyone has to follow the Kyoto protocols. Let’s just let all Liberals follow it, at least in spirit. If they can ride to work on a bike (that uses no oil in its manufacture), work on their computers (that use no oil in their manufacture or power), read by lights that require no oil in their manufacture, etc. etc. etc., then I will consider following their lead.

    Until then…

Why is it I have yet to hear a single liberal make the obvious argument…..the argument being if you wish to do something about what you perceive as a global threat, why then not entice people rather than seek to force them? I hear of denial and regulation, but never innovation and creation. You truly want to clean up this alleged problem…..then figure out a way to make a buck doing it. Job creation, technological progress, whatever that may mean. But do not force people through excessive taxation or regulation. That has and will fail. Yet they persist. I never hear of this from any of them, giving me great pause as to their true motivations. I belive simply another socialist game. They will have to convice me otherwise. Create jobs, generate wealth, build new products, in other words, do something that benefits all people, rather than a narrow political agenda. Their track record is abysmal in this regard. I suspect it will remain so. Now to go outside and enjoy a rare treat, a clean, clear, calm eighty degree day in mid March……

    Caveman,

You cut to the heart of the matter. These people are generally totalitarians. They seek to control the lives of others. As Galadriel says in the prologue to Fellowship of the Ring:

“And nine… nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power.”

This is about power, not about the environment. They may be devious but they are also transparent.

Has anyone ever done more to make sure that everyone on the planet knew he is a clueless clown and also makes sure everyone knows he takes inordinate pride in it?

jay k (#31) blathering on like a Rosie O’Donnell clone bleets the following:

what you are saying is that the research results of the multitude of scientists, who have published work subjected to peer review, is less credible than someone who has not had any of his work peer reviewed. this would indicate that the peer reviewers are also participating in scam you describe

Peer reviewd, eh? Not on this planet, not in this reality has that happened…

BTW as expected of a raving libtard like Rosie O’Jay, he’s wrong about Dr. Ball…

Dr. Tim Ball, Chairman of the Natural Resources Stewardship Project, is a renowned environmental consultant and former professor of climatology at the University of Winnipeg.

    Do some homework, would you?!?!

One of Dean Esmay’s high points is his willingness to call the modern peer review process for what it is - corrupted by money. String Theory, environmental ’science’, AIDS. They’re all industries fed by the government teat. Who’s going to approve a paper for publication that threatens their livelihood when they can shut it down in complete anonymity? Only the most honest among us - and the most honest among us are few and far between.

One of the things that was enlightening about the documentary was how big the AGW industry is. This is a huge industry and an amazing number of people would have to look for new jobs if it turned out that C02 is produced as a result of ocean warming rather than the other way around.

Can’t disagree there. Misha’s smackdown in the middle of this thread was a joy to read. Worthy of a blog post in and of itself actually.

The only other blog I ever really spend any time commenting on is over at Wizbang. There are a number of pseudo-intellectual loons that routinely comment therein who are fun to tweak. But in the end, even that ends up being poor sport.

I know it is OT in this thread but I just have to quote out one particularly moonbatish comment that arose from a guy named “BC” WRT Fox News’ supposed far right bias and how far out of the mainstream the cable channel is, in his learned opinion:

A true good, “moderate” social conservative would be someone like the Hank Hill character in “King of the Hill” — well-meaning, reliable, tries to help, God-fearing, loyal, proud of country and lawn, but also gullible, afraid of change in culture and new ideas, and easily manipulable by the unscrupulous. A true good, “moderate” liberal progressive would be like any of the characters that use to be on West Wing — smart, well-educated, wanting to make the world abetter place, but also cynical and skeptical about everything and everyone, including love. Neither really denies reality, but chooses to live in a compatible world.

A true middle would be between these two philosophies. Something like FOX News would be far removed from here.

Yeah, I’m very late to the game here…..but as I watched that particular scene I noticed the same thing. Put a mustache on the guy, a swastika on his armband and shoot the scene in black and white (maybe with some burning books in the background) and you’ve got something straight out of the 1930’s

As I looked at that crowd, I could not help but think that this is the way the world ends. Thousands, then tens of thousands, then millions of people hanging on the words of a few madmen like that guy (who was not that slick) or Al Gore (who is a bit slicker but only with the help of a high tech presentation tool provided to him by his friend at Apple, Steve Jobs) who then go out and stone the heretics.

We conservatives pride ourselves in our skepticism and immunity to sheepleitis, but the sad truth is, ultimately, we will either have to be in lock step with Gore and his ilk, or we will end up in rehab with Ann Coulter and the aforementioned Shell management.

Unfortunately Rowane, the socialists love Islam (even though they would be the first to be eaten by the Jihadi tiger if not for the ready defense of our nation’s President and military).

Islam is the sworn enemy of Christianity and Judaism. Socialists are just like anyone else, they abide by the law “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”. Since they hate Christians and Jews with a passion, it should not surprise us that they will defend the Islamic Jihadist.
