John McVain tries to curry favor with voters by promising to let fwance run the White House if he’s elected (link thanks to Sir Christopher):

John McCain, formerly the leading Republican presidential contender, has told The Sunday Telegraph that restoring America’s sullied reputation abroad will be “a top priority” if he wins the White House.

“Who cares about that silly war thing, as long as we make sure that fwance likes us?”

The Arizona senator, an Iraq war hawk, was talking aboard the revived Straight Talk Express - the vehicle that made his name during the 2000 presidential election and that he hopes will revive his faltering fortunes this time round.

The bus ferried the senator, his aides, and journalists, to a series of public meetings throughout the flat, snow-covered farmland of rural Iowa, where voters will be the first to express their preferences for the party nominations next January.

Of America’s poor image abroad, even with long-time allies, Sen McCain acknowledged candidly: “It is a very dispiriting situation and I know we will have to work hard to improve it.”

Just what we need in the White House: Another limp-wristed, pandering weasel caring more about what foreigners think about us than what is good for the nation that he wants to elect him.

Sen McCain is a strong supporter of the “surge” of US troop numbers in Iraq and his backing for the war has undercut his standing. In recent weeks, Rudolph Giuliani, 62, the former mayor of New York, has overtaken Sen McCain in the polls.

The Three RINOs, coming soon to a ballot box near you.

Thanks, but no thanks. We’ll take “none of the above.”

But Sen McCain has also consistently criticised the handling of the war by the Bush administration, and has led efforts in the Senate to end torture and extrajudicial treatment of terror suspects.

Hurray! He’ll fight the war even more half-heartedly than President “Religion of Peace!” What’s not to like?

In a sign that he wants to distance himself from the president - to whom he lost in an ugly campaign in 2000 - Sen McCain outlined a series of measures to roll back Bush policies and counter the “ugly American” image.

Speak for yourself, nancy boy.

“I would immediately close Guantanamo Bay, move all the prisoners to Fort Leavenworth (an army base in Kansas) and truly expedite the judicial proceedings in their cases,” he said. “I would reaffirm my commitment to address the issue of climate change and greenhouse gas emissions. I know how important this is in Europe in particular.”

Who GIVES a fuck what’s important to the Grand EUrinal? We thought you we running for President of this country, not fwance.

But hey, you promise to set terrorists free and destroy the economy by buying into the Church of Gore. Damn, I can’t wait to vote against you, you terminally cluefucked twit.

John Weaver, Sen McCain’s chief strategist, confirmed his plans for a markedly more conciliatory foreign policy. “The next president will have to work extra hard to unite our friends and divide our foes. Sadly the opposite has occurred in recent years,” he said, as Sen McCain addressed a crowded hall in the farming community of Cedar Falls.

“John believes that you can accomplish a lot more in this world by sticking to your principles, while adopting a much more humble tone with your partners.”

Sticking to your principles by abandoning them immediately if foreigners don’t like them. Wow. That’s so… Words fail us. But we bet that it sounded much better in the original fwench.

Sen McCain has a reputation for occasional flashes of temper and his age is a constant focus of attention. He will be 72 during the election and, if successful, will be the oldest person elected to the office. But last week, he was in good humour and clearly enjoying the fray as he took questions from his audiences. “My age? I just ask people to judge by my actions,” he said.

Probably not such a good idea, Sen McScrewTheFirstAmendment. But then again, you can’t run on your fabulous hair like Silky Pony, so it’s probably all you have.

The main change from his last presidential run is that eight years ago he was the insurgent candidate,

He still is. Only now he’s literally the insurgents’ candidate.

…while to many he is now the insider. By revving up the Straight Talk Express, he is trying to evoke the heady days of early 2000 when he beat Mr Bush in New Hampshire and seemed to be en route to a surprise nomination victory.

…only to be shot down in flames while trying to escape the Death Star.

Then, when asked at a public meeting about the rights of divorced fathers, he said it was a matter for the courts and he was not going to become involved in such a “tar baby”. Although once widely used to mean a sticky situation, the phrase has been condemned as racist by some black leaders.

More Specifically: The minority of black leaders who never had the benefit of a basic education.

“I don’t think I should have used that word and it was wrong to do so,” Sen McCain said later - too late to prevent a flurry of coverage by the reporters accompanying him.

Some Man of Principle™, right there.

And the picture of him bending over in front of the reporters, exposing his flabby arse for all the world to see will haunt us ’till the day we die.

Oh. And one more thing:

On the bus, the senator was stumped when asked whether he supported government subsidies for contraception to prevent sexual diseases if abstinence were not being practised.

“I’m sure I have a policy on that. I just need to check what it is,” he replied, before seeking illumination from his aides.

The “Straight Talk Express” indeed.

Irony is no friend of McVain’s either.

He won’t make it past the primaries.

It’s the conservatives that have given the Republican party the victories, not the RINO-Democratic Lites.

Guess Mr McCain will find out the hard way.

I’ll take Rudy before I take McCain. Rudy might be too moderate. McCain is a total loose canon.

In fact, I’ll go you one more, and say I’ll take Obama before I’ll take McCain. I’d rather take an honest liberal who will gridlock with a conservative Congress than a traitor who could sell out his state, district, party, country, continent, or housepet at any moment. And denying liberals a podium to schmooze the public is not worth suffering someone who will continue the Bush policy of pissing away money on fruitless bipartisan pandering.

Pray, ALL OF YOU PRAY, that Fred Thompson or Newt Gingrich enters the race.

McCain doesn’t have a prayer of winning the Republican nomination. Ironically, despite his years of playing kiss-ass with the MSM, which lauded him as a “maverick” (i.e., traitor to his Party) when he was opposing Republican causes, the media will now take him down now because they fear that he might defeat the eventual Communist, whoops, I mean Democrat, nominee. (He wouldn’t, because conservatives would all sit at home on election day, but the media still believes that a “moderate” Republican is the biggest threat to their Stalinist, I mean liberal, pals.) The “tar baby” episode is just the first thwhap. McCain thinks he owns the media as a result of his ass-kissing, but the media has no loyalty to Republicans, even Republican stooges. When McCain falls a bit further behind, and sees how his “friends” in the media have turned on him, he’ll lose his cool, his head will explode, and he’ll tumble down the rabbit hole. Talk about “useful idiots”!

I don’t see much point in jumping on any candidate’s bandwagon at this early stage, nor do I see any candidate who thrills me yet. But I would like to hear more from Fred Thompson, who does seem to have a clue. (And, yes, he will run if he thinks he can win — he’s not suddenly appearing all over the place just to get his dance card filled.) Duncan Hunter sounds good on terrorism and other issues, but my understanding is that he’s a protectionist. Just what we need: let’s not buy from cheaper foreign suppliers so we can pay more for everything and keep over-priced union workers employed. But the biggest issues to me are the war against terror and “original intent” judicial appointments, the latter so our courts won’t hamstring the Executive’s ability to conduct the former effectively. That’s why I would vote for Giuliani if he were the nominee — he wouldn’t be a wimp in fighting the war. But it would be nice to have a President who is a real conservative as well as someone who recognizes that we’re at war with the terrorists — and is willing to fight that war effectively, despite the squeals of protest from the media when we actually make use of our military might. Anyone who thinks we can fight a war effectively when our first priority is avoiding civilian casualties and “harsh” or “humiliating” interrogation techniques is an idiot.

Isn’t it obvious we’ll be left with McCain, Giuliani, Clinton and Obama?

Out of the four, if “none of the above” wasn’t an option, who would you consider the lesser of 4 evils? I used to like McCain, and I’m talking right before Bush was elected for the first term. I thought McCain was superb then, actually. That’s all changed, of course…but if I had to vote any of the 4 above, and I’m talking HAD to, …..I don’t know….

Obama is just a Chomsky-ite with a nice suit, Hillary is an opportunist leftist, Giuliani is more liberal than a hippy, and McCain is treasonous. Decisions, decisions.

If it comes to McCain versus Khalil Sheif Obama (did I misspell that?), or Killary, I’ll probably just stay home and cry. But you also seem gto be assuming there would be a conservative Congress. Maybe I’m missing your point, but: Yes, Dean did come out of nowhere (as did Jimminy Cahtuh some years earlier), and Kerry did win the nomination. But that was in the OTHER party. I don’t think Republican voters (especially primary voters) are quite as subject to wild mood swings as the mentally impaired Dem base. That doesn’t mean Hunter can’t win — he’s not a flake like Dean. But I just don’t see what Dean’s early ascendancy in the Dem primaries (or Kerry’s winning the nomination) has to do with it.

The good thing is that the Three RINOs are eating all the spotlight right now, with the primaries still well off in the distance.

That gives us months to destroy their candidacies, letting candidates like Hunter and Thompson sneak up from behind.

And the best part is that, since the Three RINOs are “Republicans”, the MSM will help us shoot ‘em in the back.

    Basseteer makes the interesting comment:

McCain isn’t all the respected here in Arizona, In a recent straw poll up on Phoenix Ducan Hunter cleaned his clock

Hunter, R-El Cajon, got 96 votes among the 458 ballots in the non-binding poll of Maricopa County party officials asked to list their first choice for president.

Hunter easily beat Arizona’s own U.S. Sen. John McCain, considered a front-runner in the GOP presidential race, who drew a comparatively paltry 50 votes. Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in second in Saturday’s poll with 82 first-place votes…

Hey Basseteer, is Maricopa County (and maybe a few neighboring counties) the most populous county in the state?

Can it be said that during elections the way Maricopa county votes, so votes the state?

How does McCain always end up back in the Senate? Does he have a very tight machine running his elections?

Barak Hussein Obama Osama has already shown he can feel the pain of the Paleoswinians

I’ve always like Thompson’s persona and he getting heard more of late now that he is filling in for Paul Harvey occasionally. He was buds with Howard Baker back in the Watergate days and thereafter and is generally credited with giving Baker the line “what did he know and when did he know it” with regard to Nixon’s knowledge of the break in at the Watergate hotel.

I’ve been trying to figure out if he is a conservative or not (or just comes off like one in the movies).

I can’t claim to know a lot about Thompson, but I read somewhere recently that he got very high marks from the relevant conservative vote-scorers when he was in the Senate. I also like the fact that he decided to not run again after his daughter’s death from an overdose of drugs, and the fact that he was “frustrated with the Senate’s endless maneuvering over minutiae” — it sounds like he has a soul and a brain, unlike most pols. See by John Fund. J.C. Watts has already endorsed him, even though he’s not officially in the race, and I have a lot of respect for Watts.

But I still don’t know a lot about him, and I see no need to decide who to support this early.

A lot of support for Tancredo in the comments. I know he’s great on border security, but don’t know anything else about him. Any info?

P.S.: I’m new at some of this stuff, and I see the link I put in the above comment didn’t appear the way I wanted it to. However, if you click on the blue text, it will take you to John Fund’s article about Thompson on the WSJ OpinionJournal.com (free) website.

Well done, O Great Emperor! There is however one good thing that would come from the disaster commonly referred to as a McVain Administration.

The left hates Bush worse than any other Republican President ever. Yet from a conservative/liberal standpoint, he’s a bit left of Clinton. It’s clear that what liberals hate most of all is a liberal Republican. And who’s more liberal than McVain?

I know it’s difficult to imagine, but the left would go even more nuts than ever before if McVain wins. And we’d be laughing so hard at them we’d all need oxygen tanks next to our computers. Oh, it’s still not worth it, and I hope that scumsucker gets deported to Fwance so he can enjoy their future Sharia first hand. But it is a (small) consolation.

It is, considering hers is the real-deal, he just straps-on his right before the teevee cameras roll.

Yes, you’re right Bro. I guess that’s what I get for posting with my eyelids half closed. :doh_tb:
I sure that’s what Bubba was referring to when he said that she had had more women than he had. :lol_wp:

Hillary’s also (per Rush Limbaugh) got a testicle lock-box, where she keeps the shrunken balls of numerous political and media types to make sure they don’t turn on the Clintonistas. I think McCain lost his pair somewhere along the way.

Re: #20 Juandos-”Hey Basseteer, is Maricopa County (and maybe a few neighboring counties) the most populous county in the state? Can it be said that during elections the way Maricopa county votes, so votes the state? How does McCain always end up back in the Senate? Does he have a very tight machine running his elections?”

    Random thoughts, strung togather

Maricopa county has the highest population in the state but as much as they’d like they do not lead in the way everyone votes. Arizona can be divided into 3 regions, “Alto Arizona”, Maricopa (Phoenix) and “Baja Arizona”, at one time there was actully talk about dividing the state into thirds. McCain gets backed by “Country Club Republicans” in the primaries, no one of any strength has yet run against him (but I keep hoping) scary thing is with our DhimmiRat Governor if McCain were to step down we dould end up with Raul Grijalva as our other senator

    Thanks for the info Basseteer

I thought this was the case: “McCain gets backed by “Country Club Republicans” in the primaries“…

Hmmm, makes one wonder what’s in it for them and what McCain can deliver?
