Lately, Spam Karma 2 has been letting a few too many spambacks through, so we’re trying out a new one, Akismet, to see if it does any better.

As a result, you might get caught in the moderation queue until it “gets to know you”. You’re not being banned, you’re not put on probation, it’s just the new system learning the ropes. I’ll keep a look on it and rescue your comments from purgatory as quickly as I possibly can.

At the end of the week (or sooner), if Akismet hasn’t figured it out, it’ll be terminated and Spam Karma will go back up.

Until the decision is made, please bear with our mess.

If it nukes Jackfaggot ‘Tard’s bullshit, it’ll be worth whatever you have to pay for it.

Askimet has worked well on my blog so far. But then again, my blog doesn’t get near as much traffic as nicedoggie.net.

Who did you think set up Askimet here in the first place?

Spam Karma has been acting up on a lot of blogs lately, and I felt the need to try something new. If it works, then fine, if not, Spam Karma is still here. It might be that we have to run the two of them together — who knows?

Guess I’ll post here so it gets used to me.

Haven’t been around much as of late. Had a big inspection at work and I’ve been the day Operator, so busy, busy. Lot’s of O.T., but sometimes there is too much of a good thing. :surrender_tb:

    Operator

    Sorry, I couldn’t resist. :lol_wp:

Nobody has to do anything here. There will still be some false positives here, but I think it will work itself out in the long run. But if you have been tagged as spam on another site that uses Askimet, then you are likely going to be tagged here as well. It might take up to 15 days to clear the Askimet database if we submit your comment as not being Spam.

    So bear with it.

Misha, please don’t clear the Spam yet. I am trying to watch what is getting caught.

That might not be a bad idea.  On my system, I employ Ad-Aware SE and Spybot S&D 1.4, in addition to McAfee Enterprise v8.0.

Just ran an Ad-Aware scan after about two months since the last definition update.  Two (2) cookies, and that was it.

That and a buck will get you a 20 oz. Coke out of a machine at City Hall, but it’s an interesting concept - at least, it is to this  geek.

No, you shouldn’t need to do anything. If Askimet gets a ‘false positive’ we can tell it to stop tagging and it is supposed to “learn”.

I don’t know WHY Akismet hates you so much, in spite of me unspamming your comments more times than I can count, but it’s beginning to piss me off. So far, I’m not exactly impressed with its “learning ability.” :furious_tb:

I’m beginning to suspect that it’s pig latin for “pain in the arse.”

And if it doesn’t shape up soon, it’ll be Imperialese for “outta here.”
