We’re invoking the 24 Hour Rule™ on this one, but we have to admit that something smells very fishy, and it ain’t Starkist Samoan Tuna this time (link thanks to Sir Christopher, without whom we wouldn’t even know). A few snippets, but do go read the whole thing. If this is true, then it could be huge:

SEN. Dianne Feinstein has resigned from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee. As previously and extensively reviewed in these pages, Feinstein was chairperson and ranking member of MILCON for six years, during which time she had a conflict of interest due to her husband Richard C. Blum’s ownership of two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Feinstein.

Nice work if you can get it, isn’t it?

The MILCON subcommittee is not only in charge of supervising military construction, it also oversees “quality of life” issues for veterans, which includes building housing for military families and operating hospitals and clinics for wounded soldiers. Perhaps Feinstein is trying to disassociate herself from MILCON’s incredible failure to provide decent medical care for wounded soldiers.

You mean, scandals such as Walter Reed? Gee, no wonder the MSM is keeping mum on this. It would sort of disturb the approved liberal narrative, wouldn’t it?

Feinstein abandoned MILCON as her ethical problems were surfacing in the media, and as it was becoming clear that her subcommittee left grievously wounded veterans to rot while her family was profiting from the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. It turns out that Blum also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases—often without the benefit of competitive bidding—to the Department of Veterans Affairs, even as the system of medical care for veterans collapsed on his wife’s watch.

As of December 2006, according to SEC filings and www.fedspending.org, three corporations in which Blum’s financial entities own a total of $1 billion in stock won considerable favor from the budgets of the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs:

# Boston Scientific Corporation: $17.8 million for medical equipment and supplies; 85 percent of contracts awarded without benefit of competition.

# Kinetic Concepts Inc.: $12 million, medical equipment and supplies; 28 percent noncompetitively awarded.

# CB Richard Ellis: The Blum-controlled international real estate firm holds congressionally funded contracts to lease office space to the Department of Veterans Affairs. It also is involved in redeveloping military bases turned over to the private sector.

You would think that, considering all the money Feinstein’s family has pocketed by waging global warfare while ignoring the plight of wounded American soldiers, she would show a smidgeon of shame and resign from the entire Senate, not just a subcommittee.

You would think that, but only if you believe that rules apply to Democrats as well, and we all know that they don’t.

    Juandos, great site!

My sentators and RINO and DINO, but at least they aren’t on the corruption list.

I may disagree with some of Ben Nelson’s (DINO) politics, but he’s always been a straight-shooter, and he was fine governor for our state.

Hey LC SkyeChild, yeah that’s a good site…

I mean don’t see ABC, CBS, NBC carrying stuff like this: igate bribery case fallout

former stockholder in a technology company sued a congressman and a former business associate yesterday, claiming they bilked stockholders by using business funds to pay bribes.

The lawsuit alleges that U.S. Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., his wife, and Vernon Jackson, former chief executive of the telecommunications firm iGate, schemed to funnel money to Jefferson, his family and foreign officials.

The allegations mirror those in an ongoing federal investigation of Jefferson and his business dealings. Jefferson has not been charged, but the FBI has said in court records that agents found $90,000 in a freezer in his New Orleans home.

As part of that investigation, Jackson, 54, of Louisville, pleaded guilty to paying more than $400,000 in bribes to Jefferson to gain the congressman’s help in obtaining business deals in Africa. Jackson was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and is scheduled to report to prison in March.

We know that these abysmally stupid, libtard teabaggers wouldn’t carry the story…

DiFi is a douchebag. She has been an embarassment to the state and nation as long as she’s been in office. It is also remarkable how little trouble her hubby’s development projects have with regulatory agencies.

Ha ha - this actually reminds me of the damn Valerie Plame story when it first came out.

In that case, they tried to concoct a Grand Evil Republican Conspiracy and ended up fucking it up by being too obvious with their ham-handed, clumsy “connect-the-dots” story-telling. (Which mostly backfired when those unfortunate “facts” became involved.)

In this case, I wonder if they’ll be too scared to try it again: “Democrat lawmaker implicated in Scandal!!! But wait! She’s not really Democratic! She’s more like a Republican! See? Democrats rule again!”

Meh. I think the MSM learned their lesson, that “Wag the Dog”, the movie, is total fiction. Real lib media types aren’t that smart, and we’re not that gullible.

My bet is they bury it.

Funny…I searched MILCON over at KOS…it only shows up in 3 comments. A few KOStards scratching their browneye and sniffing around…”Hey…what’s this MILCON thing…another smear job?”

CNN.com search for MILCON returns nothing.

    Maybe it’s a fabrication?
