LC Nixcell (welcome to the wonderful world of the Blogosphere!) has a post up that is a must-read. The thing that set him off was this article about how the gummint is willfully refusing to learn from history for fear of offending terrorists.

Authorities fear the school massacre that shook Russia a few years ago may be a dress rehearsal for what al-Qaida plans to do in America – only on a grander scale, launching multiple school attacks simultaneously across the country.

In 2004, Chechen terrorists associated with al-Qaida seized a school building in Beslan, Russia, and slaughtered 338, including 172 children.

Three years later, schools and local police in this country are still unprepared to deal with such an assault, experts warn. Most don’t have response plans for handling a single active shooter, let alone a cell of trained terrorists launching a large-scale attack.

Of course they don’t. After all, putting up a sign saying “no guns allowed on school property” is guaranteed to make a psychotic, mass-murdering fuckhead out on a killing spree stop and think twice. Wouldn’t want to break the law, now would he? I despair at the immeasurable idiocy of bureaucratic butt-skates coming up with “logic” like that. How the Hades did they live to the age of majority without strangling themselves in their shoe laces? Do they ALL use Velcro?

As is always the case, those gun control laws serve only to keep guns out of the hands of people that you don’t have to worry about. People like myself, who would be quite helpful should somebody try something within shooting distance of my heavily armed self. As a result, I dutifully unload my sidearm prior to entering school property, leaving me and mine (and everybody else there) defenseless, should a goblin or deranged Hoppin’ Haji show up with killin’ on his mind. I know I shouldn’t but, unlike a murderous psychopath, I’m not particularly interested in going to jail, and you can bet your blippies that authorities would have absolutely NO problem with shoving a law-abiding citizen behind bars without as much as a by-your-leave. A swarthy Middle Easterner with suspicious ties to terrorist organizations, on the other hand, not so much. Because that would be raaaaaaaaaacist!

Yet terror cells secreted inside America may be planning to use buses, as well as other vehicles and methods, as a Trojan horse to infiltrate school campuses and massacre students and teachers.

The FBI and Homeland Security Department last month distributed a bulletin to law enforcement across the country warning that Muslims with “ties to extremist groups” are signing up to be school bus drivers. They also noted “recent suspicious activity” by foreigners who either drive school buses or are licensed to drive them.

…and then went on to immediately say “nothing to worry about here, move along.” If they’d been white crackers living in the woods while hoarding battle rifles, on the other hand, they’d have had the flame throwers and snipers out there so fast they’d break the sound barrier.

There MAY not be anything to worry about but, as a father of two kids, I can’t and won’t take the chance. And the “how was anybody to know?” defense doesn’t work anymore. Beslan, anybody? BESLAN???

I realize that there must be some of the desk-jockeys who don’t want to profile because it’s “unfair” and/or “an inconvenience to those profiled” but, frankly, I don’t give a shit. I don’t even give half a shit. If, heaven forbid, any harm ever comes to the Heirs as a result of our dickless, PC bureaucracies refusing to use common sense, I’ll hold them personally responsible. And no, I don’t mean “personally responsible” as in “I’ll file suit.” You do the math, assholes.

“The enemy is infiltrating us at all levels, and certainly school bus drivers are one area to look at,” warned retired Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, president of Killology Research Group, an anti-terror consultancy that trains the FBI and other law enforcement. “And how about high school, middle school and elementary school cafeteria workers? Janitors? Delivery people?”

Grossman says some school district security officials he works with have expressed concerns about some of the Muslim employees schools are hiring.

“But no one dares profile them,” he told WND.

“Islamic terrorists are already in place in the U.S. and, yes, that includes bus drivers, cafeteria workers and also airport workers,” added Grossman, a former Army Ranger and West Point professor.

They’d better START profiling, and soon too. Because if they don’t, then I’ll be profiling the everloving shit out of anybody with access to my kids and the potential to do them harm. And since I don’t have the resources that government has, my version of profiling is bound to be quite a bit more “unfair” and rough than anything they can do.

You see, I don’t have a choice. My first responsibility is to my children, and I don’t care what I have to do to protect them. Literally. I’d much rather that I not have to because, quite honestly, civilian enforcement is bound to be a lot more haphazard and prone to inconveniencing innocents. I’d much rather have the professionals do it.

But if the professionals insist on ignoring reality and whistling past the graveyard, then I have no choice.

No amount of after the fact rationalizing or dumb excuses will resurrect my loved ones, and nothing will stand between my wrath and the fuckheads who brought it about by refusing to do their jobs.

Thatisall.

***UPDATE:*** LC JeepThang has some choice words on the subject of turning our schools into killing fields by disarming everybody except for murdering psychopaths. And a solution to the problem as well, a solution that has our Imperial Endorsement™.

If the police successfully profiled black people from the invention of the automobile until the 1990s without getting in trouble, I don’t see why administrators for school districts can’t wink-and-smile away young male immigrant muslim applicants for no-education jobs.

OK, if, Christ Forbid it, our kids are massacred, we MUST respond. If our children are offed. If daycares are targeted and my nieces have to survive and endure something like this, you will have a line around the block, of pissed off Americans waiting to get a gun or two or alot more. Basically, Armageddon will hit a few minutes after they butcher our kids.

Schools are a vulnerable target. Columbine proved that. And despite FatBoy Moore’s gun control screed, we’d have better luck with some teachers and cops defending the students, rather than march them into the execution yards ala Korczak style, singing under the liberals banner.

It is true now, as it was then- Let anyone who would harm my smallest children, be dropped into the sea and drowned with a millstone around their necks, before this harm would happen- book of Mark.

I hope this never happens. I hope these animals DO NOT take out school buses. If they do, any and all attempts at civility and gentle Christian attitude is gone. It’s EYE FOR AN EYE time, and they’re gonna lose their eyes to start with. These bastards will not live for long if they kill our kids. We can only pray that the cops, intel, and army will go medieval during questioning these shit heel Saracens…..

Unfucking believable. There is no end to the koranimals desire for blood and making sure the playing field is evenly leveled for all to be miserable like they area…..

I only hope, our response makes the Russian military bit of reciprocity pale. It scares the world so bad, they don’t think of badmouthing the victims, let alone adding to their numbers.

By the way, our targets, if all hell breaks loose, won’t be the radical Pisslamists, try their liberal buddies and the backstabbers in our capitals…..

If by racist interment you mean the internment of enemy agents, combatants and their support personnel no matter how CAIR or the Left holler about profiling, then yes.

If by crushing of dissent you mean the use of the previously passed (over the last two centuries) acts and laws concerning treason to filter some of the vitriolic vermin succouring our enemies out of the media and our political systems, then yes.

If by nuclear war you mean demonstrating the will to fight our genocidal and fanatical enemies to the best of our ability, as they are only going to hide behind civilians anyway, then yes.

I for one an not going to let a shrill and criminally insane minority carry this nations future down in their self-destructive spiral of self-loathing and spewed hatred for all that isn’t their creed of passivity, dependence and ’soft’ facism.

My impetus for concealed carry was the Stockton, CA. school shooting–I resolved never to be a mere witness to an event like that. The problem is that we the citizens are being corralled with the sheeple and will be treated as criminals, if we actually try to do something in a public venue to protect our kids. The problem is nanny gummint law enforcement (versus representative democracy law enforcement, ca. 1776-1969), which refuses to allow any citizen participation and views all persons as subjects, to be controlled. Anyone remember where Austin PD got the rifles they used to pin down the Texas clock-tower sniper and stop his kill-at-will slaughter? They came from the hunting arsenals of students and locals. Try that now–oops, no guns allowed anywhere, can’t even find a gun store, nearby, ’cause BATF has harrassed ‘em all out of business. Interesting comment about profiling black motorists–that’s exactly what gave profiling a bad name. In far too many cases, that wasn’t profiling, it was just proof that only a thin line separates many cops from criminals–some of them cross that line. On the other hand, Sheriff Harry Lee of Jefferson Parish La., has repeatedly conducted targeted profiling operations to excellent effect in the suburbs west of New Orleans. In some neighborhoods, AAs are highly unlikely to have good cause to be there. In some areas, that are predominantly AA, there are other features that can be profiled–age, numbers, clothing and vehicles–and the Chinese Cowboy is hitting those now, too. NAACP is apoplectic, but the AA citizens of Jeff Parish have figured out who’s their friend and who’s not. It doesn’t take a big federal bureaucracy to effectively profile, it does take resolve, courage, and an evenhandedness that wins citizen support. It also requires that law enforcement pay attention to the citizens their supposed to serve and protect–and that’s what’s missing in most communities. They don’t listen to us, we have to listen to them–”nothing to see here, move along.” I’ve always watched the staff and surroundings wherever my wife and kids have to go and I’ll continue to do that for a host of reasons. I pray that Beslan never comes to the U.S., because that horror is beyond anything any child, parent, or community should ever have to endure. Amplifying Iacobus, if there’s even a hint of such an event in my community, the terrorists will need more than flack-jackets for their walk to the courthouse and ballots won’t be the most dangerous thing officialdom will have to worry about either. Some of us keep the spirit of 1776 in our souls. Law enforcement and our elected officials would do well to recapture some of that spirit, before it’s too late.

BeerIsClear inadvertently makes my point about responsible people being lumped in with the sheeple (baaaaa, there’s one now!), while Nixcell clarifies the point about Stockton and just about every other school shooting that ever happened–the killing stopped when the shooters got capped, not before, not by signs, not by fences, not even by a hired school guard–he’s the easiest target to pick. I don’t know a U.S. city where average response to a 911 call can average less than 20 min. (the cops’ll say it’s less, but that’s dispatch time or some other statistical mumbo jumbo, not cop-with-perp-in-his-sights time). 9 times outa 10, bad juju has already gone down, sometimes lots, before officer friendly arrives, gets out his Miranda card, hunkers down and calls for a negotiator. If I’m out walking the dog and see some wacko takin’ pot shots at kids, I ain’t reading any moldy SCOTUS verbiage–three hydro-shocks center mass/left chest and whatever/wherever else I can get into ‘em without leaving bad forensics (gotta play the angles and spatters). And I walk, ’cause it’s in defense of another’s life. I went to my kid’s baseball jamboree last year, packing as usual, and got a bristle on the back of my neck when I saw a couple of thugs doing show and tell with a “nine” by a tree back of one of the fields–lucky for all of us, they went away (po-po were alerted, but surprise, didn’t couldn’t find ‘em once they got a unit fired up), but who would have stopped them, if they’d decided to take target practice on baserunners? The no firearms signs, the fences, or me?

I thought it was perfectly clear that, after quoting you, I was referring to you, “BeerIsClear” as a moron.

If guns aren’t available, people can’t get them. If they’re not allowed, people can’t bring them.

Guns will always be available to people who want them badly enough. The old saying that “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns” may be a laughable cliche to you, but it is truth nonetheless.

The best way to keep these nutjobs from killing people is to keep the guns out of the schools.

How utterly naively inane you are. it is already illegal to posess a firearm on school property. Law abiding citizens, therefore, do not bring firearms into the school. But words do not make something so. Chanting “It is illegal” will not prevent some idiot lawbreaker (i.e someone who breaks the law) set on terrorism, destruction, or death, from coming into the school and opening up.
Furthermore, we are discussing terrorist cells infiltrating our schools. I somehow don’t think terrorists will particularly care about “rules.”

“Abu Jamal, are you ready to reign jihad upon the children of our enemies?”

“Alas, my brother! Guns are not allowed on school premises! The infidels have put up a sign and everything!”

“NOOOOO! A Sign!? The infidels have defeated us again!”

If the schools are unsafe, home-school. They are no longer in a victim-disarmament free fire zone, and they are no longer being indoctrinated by socialists.

BeerIsClear, what doesn’t make sense is the same part that didn’t make sense to the guy in Stockton, California, or Dunblane, Scotland, or Columbine, Co., or Beslan, Ossetia, etc. etc. In each instance, there were varying regulations of guns and gun owners in the community at large and on school grounds, yet evil did not follow the rules and were not dissuaded by cops. Saying it won’t make it so–do speed limit signs prevent people speeding? The individual decides whether to obey the speed limit sign or not. I’ll bet even BeerIsClear has gone a couple of mph over on occasion. As a law-abiding driver, you’d damn well better be prepared to look for and take into account the guy who’s speeding and isn’t going to stop at your intersection, or you’ll end up road-kill. That’s reality. But I digress; who was there to provide a defense for those children? Certainly not a GFW, like BeerIsClear. Next time such evil raises it’s head, I hope someone is there to do the right thing and stop it before another child is harmed. If a cop’s available, great; if not, I hope someone else can step up.

Nixcell, you won’t draw fire, you’ve got my full support! Homeschooling is a choice families should have, but public education (including the old one-room schoolhouse) should be revitalized, not flushed down the toilet. Dewey should get the swirly, not the core concept of general, standards-based education. Further the LAW of justifiable homicide in every state recognizes that defense of another is as right and justifiable as is self-defense. BeerIsClear, since the LAW says it, it must be obeyed–get thee to a firearms training class and obey the LAW.

The original purpose of public education in the US was to make it possible for Puritans in MA to force their ideas on the children of Hugenots.

That, and Bellamy was a flaming socialist, like his brother.

Public schools ruin children … the education sucks, and they teach kids to socialize with other kids ( Lord of the Flies, anyone? ) instead of teaching them to socialize with adults.

I would suggest Reading up from here and here before proceeding with a defense of State schooling.

    Nixcell,
That is every parent’s choice and can only be made by them, but I have two questions.

    1. As a Christian, the first question I have to ask is Biblically, who is given the responsibility to educate children?
    2. What is the historical purpose of public education?

I believe the answer to one is parents and historically, those who pioneered our current public school system did it for one reason, to indoctrinate the next generations to allow for the institution of their socialist agenda. My children are taught to think for themselves, to be able to give a reasonable defense of their faith, and even to safely handle and shoot firearms in addition to the three R’s. I think this is better than being indoctrinated by the state that their faith is baseless, that guns are evil, and that the state will provide for them instead of the three R’s. If public education solely focused on teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic, I would be supportive of it.

In these parts the School Resource Officers have NO formal security duties. They adminster (an excellent btw) D.A.R.E. program and handle the odd, routine minor “crimes” on school property. The inner cities have “private” square-badger security types, that for the most part seem more interested in female student surveillance. Unfortunately, I am a firm believer in public education.

    I agree and I don’t (that’s nuance for ya, right there :wink_wp: ).

I suppose I ought to clarify: I firmly believe in the concept of guaranteed education for all citizens, regardless of their background.

For one thing, it is in the nation’s best interest. We cannot hope to compete on a global level unless we use all of our resources, and our children are a very important resource.

For another, and that addresses the “regardless of background” more directly, it is not only wasteful but also unfair to punish the kids for the failings/bad fortune/piss poor planning of their parents. They didn’t ask to be born to any particular set of parents, and they deserve an equal shot at success. What they do with it afterwards is their problem, I don’t believe in equality of outcome, just equality of opportunity.

But I don’t think that those are goals best served by the government. As a matter of fact, given government’s, ANY government’s, dismal track record, it’s far too important of a task to let the government fuck up beyond repair and, unlike other vitally important tasks such as national defense, education IS something that the private sector is eminently well capable of taking care of.

And the solution is quite simple: Give parents the funds that would normally be pumped into the utterly failed public school system and let them use that to pay for an education at an accredited, competent private school. Or let them home school, it doesn’t really matter. Getting the government out of the business of brainwashing children without the parents having a say DOES.

Good schools, as in schools producing results in the form of smart, well-educated kids will prosper. Indoctrination centers serving as nothing more than a place to stick the kid on weekdays will not.

But hey, that’s just my two cents.

    #27 Chuck-

I’ll skip Kristopher’s history that predates my comment quite a bit. However, more recent public education grew out of 18th century necessity. As towns developed it became a more practical measure for the predominately agrarian society to hire a “school marm” and build a community school, to free up parents for outside work. This worked quite well in practice as all the decisions were made locally by the citizens. We began losing control of what was an acceptable public-educational system as state and especially the feds started muscling in with funds not otherwise available locally. Once the education “business” reached critical mass on funding, the game was on and enter, stage left, a federal Department of Education and it’s sinister bastard-child the NEA.

There is no sound reason against public-education that couldn’t be cured by re-establishing local control and eliminating dependency on outside funding, that opens the door wide to the parasitic indoctrination crowd. Yes I think vouchers are the fastest way to address this problem and speed is of the essence here. If we fully implemented vouchers tomorrow, a whole generation is still pretty much a write-off. The reality of that sucks.

Strange - the elementary school MY kids attend (in the most properous county in America) has one, count ‘em, ONE cop at the school. She spends two hours a day directing traffic, another two hours a day doing “DARE” classes. For the other three hours, she is watching the front doors. The other EIGHT DOORS to the school are unguarded. Anyone can get through them with a credit card.

The local PD is less than one half mile away. A response time under five minutes would shock me.

    Jackboot,
I agree with you that the origin of public schools in America was a good and necessary development. My comment was on the philisophical basis of the PRESENT public education system, not the original system. I should have been more clear. The present system originated based heavily on the philosophy of men like John Dewey to indocrinate children to the socialist world view and to provide unthinking, robot-like workers for the industrial age. Now it is basically a make work program for NEA-backed teachers and a baby-sitting service for people who have enough gumption to have children but not enough to actually raise them. (Yes, I am an opinionated bastard :ponder_tb:)

People who don’t follow the rules are the problem. Thus, any rule that gives the rule-breakers an advantage of force against those who follow the rules, is a stupid rule. I only say stupid because it is a conveniently short word, which sadly does not quite convey the depths of insanity and utter dickheadedness of blatantly disregarding the foundational axiom of reality, that of the logical flow of cause and effect.

    Rule: No guns.
Those who follow the rule do not have guns. Those who break the rule have guns. Those who break the rule have the advantage of force against those who follow the rule. Therefore, this is a stupid rule. To advocate this rule is to practice idiocy.

Defeating the decentralized menace of Jihad will require a decentralized defense. The mujahidiin are individuals, executing the schemes of individuals. The only way to stop them will be if an immediate response to an attack can be effected.
The only certain way to mount such an immediate response is to prepare a sufficient number of would-be victims to do it themselves.
When people understand this, that it’s up to the people on the street, the next mujahid to try something will find himself being made into an example. I hope, for everyone’s sake, that it will be a a real terrorist and provably so, because that would be the only defense against the subsequent legal jihad from CAIR.

Yes they have police officer guards. usually one or two armed guards.

As are standard for police officers, they are usually wearing Class II or IIa vests. Assuming the jihadis in question are carrying AKs or some variant thereof, ‘to get past the police officers’ means tapping the trigger once per officer, and the 7.62×39 rounds go through the cop and into the nearest wall.

at the public high school where I teach, I have a friend who is is a local cop. He is on the downside of his career, in his mid-fifties and looking to make it to retirement. Being a security cop in a school is light duty according to him, and a safe way to wind up a career….he’s been a street cop for over 20 years and is entitled to some light duty now IMHO.

Every day, we have former students wandering in to say hi to friends and sometimes to teachers and to make drug deals as well. They are supposed to check in at the main office, but they seldom get caught, the doors are wide open and there are multiple entries in and out. My friend the cop can’t be in all places at once, as he also directs traffic, is outside ticketing illegal parking, and hunting down truants.
