As I’m sure you know, the Duke Lacrosse players’ grueling 13-month nightmare is finally over.

I’d expected, as had a lot of other people, that the State would merely weasel out of the whole thing by dismissing the charges on grounds of “lack of sufficient evidence to prosecute” but they, much to their credit, went the extra mile and publicly stated for the record what we all already knew, namely that these young men were innocent.

Not “unconvicted”, but INNOCENT.

As innocent today as they were on the day the whore filed her lying allegations against them. As innocent today as they were throughout 13 months where that slimebag shithead Nifong did everything, including meddling with the evidence, to land an unmerited conviction. As innocent today as they were while the press and their umpteen-hundred layers of rigorously fact checking editors were busy pronouncing them guilty in the “court” of public opinion, pronouncing them guilty without the benefit of a single shred of evidence, ignoring the presumption of innocence that they always self-righteously bleat about when it’s somebody they LIKE on the stand.

Innocent.

The damage, however, has been done. Nothing will give those young men back the 13 months of their lives that they spent fighting lies, innuendo and criminal behavior on the part of Nifong. They have their freedom back, thank G-d, but where do they go to get back their reputations, their good names, the time and money spent fighting baseless charges from an obviously mentally unstable cow?

With the exception of the money, there’s nowhere for them to turn for that.

Nevertheless, an example must be set. It is my profound hope that every single individual involved in this travesty, this abortion of justice, will be utterly financially and professionally destroyed. Not inconvenienced, but utterly destroyed. It is my hope that the families of these young men turn suing and destroying the people who did their best to destroy their lives into a personal hobby. Nifong should go to jail and every single dime he owns as well as every dime he ever will earn should be taken from him and given to the victims of his felonious, corrupt behavior. Every single journalist jumping to conclusions and participating in the vilification of those INNOCENT young men should be fired and held financially liable, as should the media outlets they work for, and every single “teacher” at Duke who put his or her name on the resolution condemning them before they’d even had a day in court should be barred from ever holding a position above panhandler in this nation.

Little if any of this will ever happen, of course, but that would be justice. Real justice, as opposed to the sick joke that we usually refer to by that name.

Take no prisoners.

I sincerely hope you are right, Boss.
Unfortunately, human nature being what it is, I suspect that their lives are, if not ruined, at least bruised a bit. For the rest of their professional lives, they will have the title “accused Duke Lacrosse rapist” tagged onto their names. Stigma sux, even without the stigmata.

I hope they sue that skank and her buddy Nifong back into the stone age.

If I may quote from the Fox bio

“In 1993, when she was 14 years old, Mangum claimed to have been kidnapped by three men, driven to a house in Creedmoor, N.C., 15 miles away from Durham, and raped…The case, however, was not pursued, because the accuser backed away from the charges out of fear for her life, according to her relatives.”

“On June 16, 1998, she accused her husband of taking her into a wooded area and threatening to kill her, which he has denied doing. When she failed to appear at a court hearing, the complaint was dismissed.”

“In June 2002, she was arrested on a multitude of charges while working at a topless dance club called Diamond Girls. According to police, she removed a customer’s keys to his taxicab while giving him a lap dance, then stole the taxi while he was in the bathroom. Police chased her at speeds up to 70 miles per hour — frequently in the wrong lane — and when an officer tried to approach her, she barely missed running him over, and struck his patrol car instead. She tried to escape again, but a flat tire ended the second leg of her getaway. Finally in custody, she was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.19 (the state limit is 0.08). While being questioned, Mangum passed out and was taken to a hospital.”

The best the public can hope for is Nifong being given some jail time and losing his license to practice law. The state will be held to pay for any liability caused by that self serving prick.
I think these guys will be ok. It is sad the years in college had to be marred by this but I hope they can make something positive out of this and get on with their lives. I wish them the best.

    I couldn’t agree more.

What I should have said is this:

“the Duke Lacrosse players’ grueling 13-month legal nightmare is finally over.”

Now let the legal nightmares of Nifong et al begin.

Duke’s Prez somewhat luke warm response..It seems no one wants to be the first to actually say “I’m sorry”…

Durham, NC — I join with everyone who cares about justice in welcoming the North Carolina State Attorney General’s announcement that the remaining charges have been dropped against David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann. This announcement comes at the end of an extraordinarily painful year for the young men and their families. They have carried themselves with dignity through an ordeal of deep unfairness…..

OT, but RN Seaman Arthur “I want my Crypod” Batchelor apologises for “letting down the Navy” he then goes on to say:

“I’m really hurt by all the criticism. People think I’m some kind of millionaire now, dining out on lobster and champagne - but I’m not. The money I’ve received will simply pay for a few driving lessons. I’m not sure it will cover the cost of an actual test, let alone a car.

“I see the payment more as compensation for spending the time telling the story to reporters when I should have been out with my family and friends. But it was important that the world heard about what I went through.”

There’s been one phrase that’s been a bit over-used in the discussions of presidential contenders, but I think it is perfect for Nifong.

Stick a fork in him, he’s done.

Even the libtards (most of `em, anyway) over at Drooling Underachievers are speaking against him. IMO, disbarrment is the least of his worries. He’s got to consider jail time, lawyer bills and big payments to plaintiffs.

I don’t know why, but from the beginning this case just stuck with me as being different. There were so many “daily updates” comments from the accuser’s side that it wasn’t clear what the original accusations against whom were.

When the DNA evidence was not passed to the defense, I knew there were, at least, personal political motives driving this. But hey, there was an election coming up.

Nifong could have dismissed it right then, like he should have, and been in a better position than he is now. He may have lost the election, but the person replacing him would have dropped the case and Nifong still would have his license to practice.

So maybe it worked for the better…the boys are cleared and Nifong’s got his butt on the hot plate with no future and no ability to do this to anyone else.

I love that the NC AG said they were INNOCENT, not that they were not going to pursue the allegations.

No, the North Carolina Atty General tossed it out. And, in fairness to the judge, I don’t think he has an opportunity to throw a case out like that, much less when it hasn’t even been brought to court.

I want to know where the fuck are the feminists. They are so busy bringing down men when it is fact that more and more of these rape accusations are false. These stupid sluts hurt real rape victims, and like the moderate Muslims, need to stand up and call these hos for what they are.

I say that last line, because there is a special coming out on PBS, and the part with the moderate who was speaking out against the fundalmentalists was edited out because it mind “offend” the others. They are out there, but their speech is just getting stifled.

    From the link in #21:

According to the Anti-Defamation League, the New Panthers are a black separatist militia founded in 1990 by Khallid Muhammad, who was removed from a top leadership post at the Nation of Islam after Louis Farrakhan reportedly found his statements against Jews, Catholics and homosexuals too radical.

OK, I confess to being wog-boggled. If Farrakhan finds your statements too radical, something is officially VERY VERY WRONG(TM) with you.
