This time regarding Gov. Corzine’s recent near-fatal crash:

Data retrieved from the black box in Corzine’s vehicle showed speeds of 91 mph five seconds before impact with the guard rail, and 30 mph when the Chevrolet Suburban crashed into the guard rail.

Police initially said speed was not a factor.

“Traffic was flowing and the speed is not considered to be a contributing circumstance,” State Police Superintendent Col. Rick Fuentes said last Thursday hours after the crash.

Is that so, Mr. Superintendent (who wouldn’t dream about lying to protect his own arse from consequences from the Governor’s office, we’re sure) Fuentes?

You know, that’s truly amazing. Because, you see, according to everything we’ve learned in school the speed of a vehicle does effect the driver’s ability to avoid obstacles. It has something to do with the laws of physics, not to mention the physiological limitations of human beings, such as their reaction times. But obviously the political royalty of this country are exempt from mere laws of nature. They and their drivers have infinitely low reaction times, and the brakes on their vehicles operate wholly independently of the laws of physics.

We trust that the driver won’t be issued a speeding ticket either. After all, how can we expect superior beings unrestrained by the laws of the cosmos to adhere to mere laws of men? And speaking of restraints:

Corzine, who apparently was not wearing a seat belt, sustained a litany of injuries, but doctors Monday said they were pleased with his recovery and planned to lessen his sedation and begin considering whether to take him off the ventilator. [Emphasis ours — Emp. M.]

Not wearing a seat belt either? Isn’t that the law in New Jersey? But we forget ourself again. It certainly is not our place to question our betters like that. Clearly, those laws, the violation of which would most certainly cost an ordinary peon a pretty penny, do not apply to the Anointed Royalty of Politics.

For the record, we’re not an unqualified supporter of speed limits, they seem retardedly low in a lot of cases, and we most certainly are no supporter of the government telling us how we have to strap ourself in when on the road, it’s none of their meddling, puling business, but we DO demand that if we have to follow the rules, the ones making them up have to as well.

It is about time that we quit putting up with this nonsense. We, as Americans, used to have a severely bad reaction to people placing themselves above the law, petty royalty refusing to practice what they preach while punishing people for violating the rules that they, themselves, will not follow, and it’s time that we started remembering that.

And if you’re not quite clear what we mean when we say “severely bad reaction”, look up “King George III”.

One law for all, with no-one above it.

And they have the BALLS to blame another driver for the accident? And don’t give me that ‘State Troopers are Superior drivers’ bullshit either. I see more lunacy on the roads daily than most see in a year. And I gotta tell ya, Some of the Staties are pathetic, talentless hacks! Actually, Governor Corzine’s accident proves quite conclusively that, while some of us may be exempt from the laws of man, nobody is exempt from the laws of physics.

We trust that the driver won’t be issued a speeding ticket either.

New Jersey has this little-known privilege that exonerates police officers from speeding tickets (even when off duty), so you’re right on this one.

Not wearing a seat belt either? Isn’t that the law in New Jersey?

Yup. Sure is. Quite frankly, as a driver trained in New Jersey, I cannot imagine operating a motor vehicle for more than a half a mile without one.

Clearly, those laws, the violation of which would most certainly cost an ordinary peon a pretty penny, do not apply to the Anointed Royalty of Politics.

Eh. Last I heard, it was like 25 bucks.

Amen to that. Unfortunately, the people of New Jersey are so embedded in their socialist bullshit, they’ll likely never shed it to any reasonable standard.

Add to that the alleged influence of the mob in politics, and you should never expect anything positive from the Garden State.

A sad state of affairs to be sure. Will the last person to leave New Jersey PLEASE turn out the lights???

I live here and want to live here. Absent the overwhelming illegal socialism we have to deal with, it’s pretty much the perfect representation of what America is all about. How many states in this country can boast booming industry AND awesome tourism AND great ski resorts AND some of the country’s finest beaches?
