With too many people wasting valuable time on this silly global war that keeps distracting us, it’s good to see that the DemCong are finding time to address the important issues of our time:

SUMMARY AS OF:
3/20/2007–Introduced.

Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act [H.R.1595 — Emp.M.] - Recognizes the suffering and the loyalty of the people of Guam during the Japanese occupation of Guam in World War II.

Directs the Secretary of the Treasury to make specified payments to: (1) living Guam residents who were killed, injured, interned, or subjected to forced labor or marches resulting from, or incident to, such occupation and subsequent liberation; and (2) survivors of compensable residents who died in war or survivors of compensable injured residents (such payments to be made after payments have been made to surviving Guam residents).

Yes. You read that right. The DemCong are demanding that the government spend your money paying reparations for the atrocities committed by the Japanese during WWII.

Presumably the 3,000 lives we sacrificed to liberate Guam from the Japanese weren’t enough for the DemCong.

Yes, liberalism IS a mental disorder.

Citizens of Guam are U.S. citizens right? so if the reparations to them come out of taxpayer funds….won’t they be paying THEMSELVES reparations?

    typical dhimmicrat logic

My late Father served on Liberty ships during the Second World War. He ran P61 night fighters and other supplies to the South Pacific Islands, Guam included. During one run, they ran into a storm and while he was helping to secure cargo below decks, some of that unsecured cargo shifted…fell on him…and broke his back. He was partially disabled for the rest of his life, not being able to play baseball with me or teach me to shoot a basketball….so where do I apply for reparations?

Guam is a protectorate of the US, the people are US citizens. They pay normal income tax, but all federal income tax moneys collected on Guam stay on Guam and go to maintain Guam’s local government.

This means that Pelosi is taking our money and giving it to them because the Japanese were mean to them (or their ancestors). Gee, the Japanese weren’t very nice to my father, either, but he didn’t get any goodies from the government.

According to liblackeys, America is the worst thing on earth, and owes everyone. I say the Japs owe men like the late Dwight Woodall, Msgt, USAF Retired, who was a Bataan Death March survivor who was then exported to a factory in Kawasaki, Japan via the unventilated hold of a cargo ship. Likewise with any and all who survived the Japs’ atrocities, military OR civilian!! But the slobbering, snot-licking asswipe liblackeys have neither brains nor backbones, so the parade of idiocy goes on.

I’m actually very surprised by this. I was stationed on Guam for two years. The old timers who had suffered under the Jap occupation were the most fiercely loyal citizens it has ever been my pleasure to meet. Their children served in Viet Nam at a higher rate per capita than any other state or territory.

And make no mistake, they did suffer. There was a sailor named Tweed who hid out from the Japs after they took the island in ‘41. A Guamanian priest was beheaded for sheltering him, as were several Chomorrans who refused to turn him in. They never once waiverd in the assistance they gave Tweed, despite the hardships it brought on their heads. Their women were raped and murdered, their men worked to death in concentration camps. They were beheaded for hiding American flags. And when the Marines landed the flags came out. Those Chomorrans I knew would never accept this money. They would throw it back in the faces of the vote buying scum who demeaned them by offering it.

Now the children of the children of the survivors, they are probably a different story. But from what I read, they aren’t eligible for the money. $25,000 is a helluva lot of money on Guam. If this goes through I guarantee you the armed robbery rate will go through the roof!

As to the Japs paying it themselves. Besides the US Military, Jap tourism is the island’s only real industry. Believe me, the Chomorrons see to it that the Japs pay quite a bit already, just not officially “reparations” :lol_wp:

THank you for the sentiment Cave, God Bless you and your Dad as well, I remember the story you told about his bailing out and getting captured not long ago….one hell of a thing to live through.

What I find telling is that, even with a bad back, my Dad worked his entire life, including two years as a firefighter until he reinjured his back…he became a very successful construction contractor and developer, and worked at various business and investment ventures right up to his death two years ago. He never, NEVER asked for any handouts or help from anyone, and despised the growing welfare/reparations state that he saw infecting this country.

Sadly, those who picked themselves up from a crushing national depression and then fought a global war on tyranny are all going to be gone soon. My greatest fear is that their spirit of “can-do” and their patriotism will go with them if you and I don’t pick it up and keep going forward.

This is really an internal US matter, but I have to say, this really annoys me.

The Japanese were the headcases. They have never been made to face up to that. They should be.

To this day, the government, the education system, and the legal system of Japan gloss over the ‘unfortunate’ events of WWII. I have living family members who still can’t see a Japanese flag without getting angry. They have cause.

The people of Guam may take the money; it was a long time ago, and most of them will have no memory, or immediate family connection, to the horrors the Japanese perpetrated. It’s still not right. The money should come from the Japanese. And it shouldn’t stop at Guam.

Well, when our Marines liberated the island from the japs, they shared their c-rats with the starving masses. In those c-rats was SPAM. It’s revered over there. McDonalds even has it on their breakfast menu. I hated each and every minute I was stationed there. The entire island is nothing more than a garbage dump. When you leave the base it turns into a turd world shit hole. Its more closely resembles the pillapines than the US. Its nothing more than a drain on this country just like Puerto Rico although it at least has some strategic importance. Any money sent over there wouldn’t make it down to the people. That is pathetic! The American taxpayer has to pay for everything. About 10 years ago I was a college student delivering pizzas to help pay the bills when one customer really made me sad. I worked on the poor side of Oklahoma City, small run down apartments, tiny houses and mostly poor inhabitants. I went to one apartment that was pretty run down but very clean. The inhabitant was an elderly man who was disabled and looked like he barely had a penny to spare. On the mantle hung a picture of the man when he was much younger and in uniform, alongside the black and white photograph hung 2 purple hearts and a Congressional Medal of Honor. I gave him the pizza and drinks, the guy actually tipped me although I wanted to give him the money back, I was a poor college student but he probibly needed the money more than I did. I wanted to cry leaving the apartments, someone who had obviously given so much to have so little in his old age. He should have been living in a luxury condo, not a crappy apartment. THIS is the person who should be getting a bonus, not someone whose parents or grandparents were hurt. My grandmother says that instead of the expensive WW2 memorial in DC that the veterans or widows be given a bonus of some sort.

You know there’s a certain logic to all this. I’m of polish origin, so I could sue Germany for invading (civil rights violations!) my relatives, and creating some of the best jokes (defamation!)ever. Then we could open the floodgates for all kinds of reparation lawsuits. We are talking complete financial redistribution of all the worlds monetary systems! American natives could sue all the current immigrants, the curent immigrants could sue the natives for trespassing via the arctic ice bridge onto future colonies. We could take this all the way back to Eve’s misuse of borrowed property (To Whit One Rib), and for theft of private property (To Whit One Apple) leading to Men’s subsequent removal from Paradise.
    Think we have a case?
