…the morons were planning to attack Ft. Dix.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. — Six Islamic militants from Yugoslavia and the Middle East were arrested on charges of plotting to attack the Fort Dix Army post and “kill as many soldiers as possible,” authorities said Tuesday.

In conversations secretly recorded by an FBI informant over the past year, the men talked about killing in the name of Allah and attacking U.S. warships that might dock in Philadelphia, according an FBI criminal complaint.

“This was a serious plot put together by people who were intent on harming Americans,” U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie said Tuesday. “We’re very gratified federal law enforcement was able to catch these people before they acted and took innocent life.”

One suspect reportedly spoke of using rocket-propelled grenades to kill at least 100 soldiers at a time, according to court documents.

“If you want to do anything here, there is Fort Dix and I don’t want to exaggerate, and I assure you that you can hit an American base very easily,” suspect Mohamad Ibrahim Shnewer said in one conversation secretly recorded by a government informant, according to the criminal complaint.

“It doesn’t matter to me whether I get locked up, arrested or get taken away,” a suspect identified as Serdar Tatar said in another recorded conversation. “Or I die, it doesn’t matter. I’m doing it in the name of Allah.”

But… pisslam is a religion of PEACE!

Non-surprise in this piece of journaljizzm: Terrorists are referred to as “militants.”

Big surprise in this piece of journaljizzm: They’re actually referred to, correctly, as Islamists. CAIR whining and moaning to commence in 5…4…3…

Oh, coincidentally, three of the six were illegal immigrants or, as we’re sure the MSM would prefer it, “undocumented military consultants.” You know, the kind that El Presidente and the RINO fucknozzles want to give a “path to citizenship.”

Thank G-d that our intel guys managed to nail those assholes for allah before the DemCong could send them off to count “endangered” polar bears and investigate global wormening.

And, right on cue, the leftard terrorism experts of Wankette chime in:

The FBI has successfully broken up yet another fiendish terrorist plot on American soil. These brave defenders of freedom have once again ensured that Americans can rest easy, safe from the threat of a couple guys buying some guns and trying to… take over an Army base???

Because, as we all know, terrorists’ first and most important objective is to take territory and hold it. It is most definitely not to strike and kill as many as possible before they themselves are killed.

Ok. So, the plot was: six dudes from New Jersey buy some guns and storm Fort Dix. The Fort Dix that is full of lots and lots of Army reservists with way, way more guns. And, like, extensive military training and shit. Yes, thank god these terrorists have been caught and locked up before they could be killed within minutes of deciding to carry out the dumbest fucking terrorist plot we’ve ever heard of.

If the leftardian buttplugs of Wankette would take a short break from their alternate universe, then perhaps they’d realize, much like every sentient being living in the real world, that terrorists don’t much care about their own personal survival, as long as they get to kill them some infidels. “Suicide bomber”, Google It!

Stupid? Certainly, but that’s cold comfort to their dead victims since they, irrespective of the mental acuity of the terrorists, remain very much dead. Not that the Wankettes would care much. The dead in this case would be soldiers, after all, and we all know how leftards feel about “those people”, don’t we?

Did I just question their patriotism and support for the troops?

Why yes, I do believe that I did.

All the more reason for surveillance in ALL mosques, Islamic centers and Muslim owned businesses in the US. These bastards dont want to integrate into our society, they want to marry and impregnant as many of our women as they can, divorcing them every 5 years since polygamy is not allowed (yet?) in the US. Most of the Middle Eastern restaurants here are run by radical Muslims, these are often fronts to send money back home, employ illegals and sometimes fund terrorism.

Has anyone seen this little tidbit? No wonder they are so unhappy all the time.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamic militants are confiscating music cassettes from public buses and ordering shops to only sell CDs promoting jihad in the latest push to Talibanize a lawless Pakistani frontier region, residents said Tuesday.

The campaign was launched on Sunday in North Waziristan, a tribal region where the government reached a peace deal with pro-Taliban militants last fall, an intelligence official confirmed on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of his job.

Bands of armed militants have visited shops selling music cassettes and CDs in the main town of Miran Shah, warning owners to only sell “jihadi” cassettes — featuring sermons by clerics or songs without musical accompaniment that praise holy war and those who fight it.

This is the perfect chance to allow for some additional training for the troops. Call it “live fire”, tell them when these morons are gonna show and let the soldiers handle it.

Good thing they did stop them since they didn’t pass on the info to the units at Dix. Take it from someone who’s been there, the destruction caused by an RPG isn’t something any of us want to see up close (again, for some of us).

Heard this one on the radio on my way into work this morning.

Curiously, they left “Islamists” “terrorists” and “Middle east” right out of it - making only a vague reference to ‘citizens of the Yugoslav Republic’.

Sure, lots of soldiers with lots of guns…but no ammo in most cases. Only troops at firing ranges would have ammo, and getting it is a lengthy and complicated process. There would be fewer armed people around than your typical civilian community (years ago I was stationed at Dix for 2 years). A safer and more symbolic target would be harder for islamic facebeaters to choose.

This is forking scary. I lived right down the road from Fort Dix in Browns Mills. I still own the house I used to live in and rent it to a friend. I sooo glad I moved south. It’s not that hard to get on base with a little hiking through the Pine Barrens.

Here are some interesting bits from the AP (spit):

    The breakout:

Four of the men were born in the former Yugoslavia, one in Jordan and one in Turkey, officials said. All had lived in the United States for years. Three were in the country illegally; two had green cards allowing them to stay permanently; the other is a U.S. citizen.

Besides Shnewer, Tatar and Eljvir Duka, the other men were identified in court papers as Dritan Duka and Shain Duka. Checks with Immigration and Customs Enforcement show that the Dukas were illegally in the U.S., according to FBI complaints unsealed with their arrests.

Obligatory reference to Poor Oppressed American Muslims:

The description of the suspects as “Islamic militants” renewed fears in New Jersey’s Muslim community. Hundreds of Muslim men from New Jersey were rounded up and detained by authorities in the months following the 2001 attacks, but none was connected to that plot.

And, of course, the reminder that ‘Islam is a Religion of Peace’:

“If these people did something, then they deserve to be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Sohail Mohammed, a lawyer who represented many of the detainees. “But when the government says ‘Islamic militants,’ it sends a message to the public that Islam and militancy are synonymous.”

“Don’t equate actions with religion,” he said.

How much longer until we’re allowed to be tired of this re-run?

Man oh man. Check this out.

In a criminal complaint filed this morning, an FBI agent writes that “SERDAR TATAR’s father owned a restaurant near Fort Dix and made deliveries onto the base.”

How they planned to get on base.

Tatar’s father told ABCNews.com he talked to his son only yesterday, and there was no indication of anything unusual, no indication that his 24-year-old son harbored a deep hatred of the United States.

“There’s something wrong here,” the father said. “I came here from Turkey in 1992, and this is my country. I love this country.”

You see a common ground here? It is NOT the country where the problem lies like all the idiots who whine that the wrong country gets blamed. The common ground here is the religion…all for Allah, right. And this enemy does NOT give a shit if they survive…very different from our enemies of the past.

The restaurant’s chef, Joseph Hofflinger, 35, quit today after finding out the news that the owner of Super Mario’s Pizza was the father of one of the suspected terrorists.

When asked by reporters as to why he quit, Hofflinger said, “Because I won’t work for somebody that has any ties or admission to terrorists.” He continued, “My son is in the 82nd Airborne. I won’t work for a place that supports terrorism so I’m out.”

    Hmph. Go figure.

As far as keeping on eye on them, goad our so-called “moderate” Mooselimb brethren (like the informant in the plot, who I’m assuming is Muslim) into doing their fucking part and giving up their batshit-crazy adherents. That’s a start.

Another thing or two that the moonbats miss.

    1. On a statesidee base 80% of the wapones will be LOCKED in the Arms Room at any given time.

    2. 15% of the weapons will be on non-firing training ranges with no ammunition.

    3. The 5% who do have ammo will be way the hell and gone out on the firing ranges.

A stateside base would be easy to hit.

If the leftardian buttplugs of Wankette would take a short break from their alternate universe, then perhaps they’d realize, much like every sentient being living in the real world, that terrorists don’t much care about their own personal survival, as long as they get to kill them some infidels.

I agree, Misha, that the drooling cnut “lol I’m a writer, look at my boobies” Wonkette’s analysis was, shall we say, more intelligent by the standards of David Letterman than David Petraeus.

However, now that our training soldiers have been alerted to the possibility of such attacks, I think we can safely say that any future attempts will be highly entertaining.

The drawbacks of this plot are that Dhimmis will no doubt, perversely, use this as an impetus to push gun grabs, and it could also have adverse effects on recruiting.

LC Old Dog is mostly correct. There are a very few soldiers about on any Army Post carrying loaded weapons. MPs carrying M9 9mm pistols. Not terribly effective against aimed rifle fire.

The terrorists may have planned to hit formations of soldiers, upwards of thirty to a hundred fifty to a formation on any typical morning/day/afternoon.

My experience with military bases has been mostly with going to Air Shows. Pt. Magu, Edwards, El Toro and Miramar. I’ve also visited a few bases to see friends a couple of times.

When visiting, I was always stunned at how easy it was to get on base and just drive around.

During Air Shows, particularly at Edwards, where once you enter the gate, you’ve still got miles to go to get to the airfield, the small presents of Air Force Security Forces amazes me.

A few years following 9/11 there were sniper teams on top of the hangers during these Open Houses, but I haven’t seen them the last few years.

Military bases in the U.S. wouldn’t seem to to be any more heavily defended than any city, once you get past the perimeter fence.

A small unit with good intel can do a huge amount of damage to a ’soft’ target like a peacetime military base.
A well planned op will try to create massive confusion, which could be used either to withdraw or inflict further casualties.

With (bad) luck, dozens of casualties, or more.

A genuine danger, and one very hard to defend against.

Oh, and I’m amazed at learning that we don’t have soldiers loaded for trouble everywhere at our bases here.

Yeah, the last couple of times I’ve been into a military facility (back in England) getting in involved stopping between an S-shaped arrangement of concrete barriers while being covered by a GMPG bunker (also concrete) about 30 feet away. All the soldiers were armed (Sa-80’s and Browning High Powers) and they checked us all off the civvie contractor list. They did the mirror on a stick routine too.

Then again, we’ve had an accepted level of anti-terrorist security back home since I was a kid, due to the Paddies. Hell, I’ve been stopped with the same basic arrangments (portable concrete barriers and a sandbag GPMG bunker) on the street in London.

I’m amazed they don’t have any sort of emplaced support weapons to cover gates here though, even if they don’t arm the actual gate personnel.

CBS Uses Dix Case to Contend Terrorist Arrests Over-Hyped
    Cyber Alert ^ | May 9, 2007 | Brent Bozell

On Tuesday night, following a week in which the CBS Evening News attracted the fewest viewers in decades, the producers decided the Katie Couric-anchored newscast needed an injection of an Olbermann-esque twist: The arrests of six Islamists, for plotting to use automatic weapons to murder troops at Fort Dix, matches the hype around previous captures which fizzled. Armen Keteyian framed his story around how since 9/11 “more than 400,000 names have come under one form of government surveillance or another — from watch lists to wiretaps. But only a handful of terrorists have been convicted in cases with concrete ties to al-Qaeda.” Keteyian highlighted how cases that “start out as larger, bolder terrorism cases, turn into lesser offenses. According to a study by the NYU Center on Law and Security, of the 550 terrorism cases since 9/11, only 163 individuals have been prosecuted on terrorism charges.” The group’s Karen Greenburg then asserted: “The conclusion would be that we’ve made a lot of hoopla about a number of cases on the grounds of terrorism at the beginning, and they haven’t panned out to be terrorism cases.”

But Keteyian didn’t bother to alert viewers to the Center for Law and Security’s agenda. Greenberg, the Executive Director featured in a soundbite, is “co-editor of The Torture Papers: The Road to Abu Ghraib” and “she is a former Vice President of the Soros Foundation/Open Society Institute,” according to her online bio: http://www.lawandsecurity.org

Amongst the Fellows at the organization: infamous Clinton sycophant and conservative-basher Sidney Blumenthal: http://www.lawandsecurity.org

And on the Board of Advisers: Dana Priest, the Washington Post reporter who exposed the secret overseas CIA sites to interrogate terrorists: http://www.lawandsecurity.org

The topic of the group’s most recent forum, “The Hidden Roots of War: Christian Zionism and the Neocon Fundamentalist Alliance in America.” See: http://www.lawandsecurity.org

[This item was posted Tuesday night on the MRC’s blog, NewsBusters.org: newsbusters.org ]

Keith Olbermann dutifully echoed the CBS spin, only with more of an edge as he derided the “extensive and entirely credulous coverage” and dismissed the capture: “The FBI has arrested six morons.” On Tuesday’s Countdown on MSNBC, he charged:
“The flaw, though, in the breathless reporting of the purported terror cell: The Bureau [FBI] infiltrated the six person group after its members took video of themselves, practicing with assault weapons, brought the tape to a photo store and had it transferred to DVD. The details of the supposed plot don’t seem to hold together that well either, though that did not stop extensive and entirely credulous coverage on TV, the Internet, in print today. The men supposedly had plans to gain access to the base disguised as pizza delivery guys, then cut the power somehow, then quote, ‘hit four, five or six Humveees and light the whole place and retreat without any losses.’ And take the tape of yourselves practicing and have it copied at FotoMat. In other words, the FBI has arrested six morons.”

I grew up on military bases. My dad was a career Marine. The media is trying to paint a picture of six heavily armed men sneaking onto a military base and then dying in a Custer’s last stand against a battallion of soldiers just in off the parade ground.

This is ridiculous. Living on an army base is pretty much like living anywhere else. There is a bowling alley, a golf course, several gymnasiums, the PX (a big grocery store), a gas station, schools, houses, temporary housing (kind of like a suites hotel), offices, offices, barracks, movie theatres, and all the other trappings of modern suburban life.

Unless there are units on maneuvers or live ammo training, you really don’t see very many people going around armed. And the places where the maneuvers and live ammo training occur are fairly remote from where everyone lives. These terrorists were not going to take on combat units in battallion formation, they were going to find the most vulnerable place on the base and attack unarmed dependents (women and children) or soldiers in their barracks (unarmed). Yes, a combat team would have taken them out, but my guess is it would take one or two hours to get the combat team to the terrorists. The MPs would respond first, they are armed with 45 semi automatic pistols. Then the color guard would respond, they usually have rifles of some type, sometimes M1s, sometimes M16s, it depends. But there are only 4-5 of them around at any given time. The real combat troops would have to first be assembled at the armory, then weapons would have to be issued, then they would have to get to where the terrorists are. This could take at least an hour, perhaps two. Now, if the terrorists hit both the armory and the residential areas at the same time, that would make things even more difficult.

Had this attack actually been carried out dozens if not hundreds of unarmed people could have been murdered before the soldiers could have responded properly.

Good thing they did stop them since they didn’t pass on the info to the units at Dix. T

The FBI should have set these murderers up. They should have given the murderers’ plans to the Army and had a nice ambush waiting for them. And televised it on pay per view. Congress won’t give our troops money, they should improvise. Then we wouldn’t have to waste money or time on a trial and fighting off the lawsuits from CAIR that are sure to follow.

Apparently they haven’t taken the hint, at least around here. There’s a military installation in the area (left unspecified for obvious reasons), located near a large public attraction, with a large vehicle yard containing both US gov and POV’s. It’s mostly surrounded with a chain-link fence, but on a purely ordinary day the gate is left wide open and NOBODY on guard. In fact you could drive straight from the gate to [redacted for OPSEC] without encountering a single person.

By comparison, the legislative building has about a dozen cops and security just directing traffic, a bunch more inside, not to mention [redacted for OPSEC]. Nice to see where the priorities are. Granted, I can think of other even juicier targets, but I’ll be danged to mention them here. :zip_ee:
