Listen, it’s no secret that His Majesty is no big fan of Rudy as a Presidential candidate but, on the other hand, we do try to be fair. In Rudy’s case, it’s made a lot easier by his inarguably stellar performance as “America’s Mayor” post-9/11, not to mention the fine job he did of cleaning up NY prior to Black Tuesday. Also, he’s not McCain.

But it’s made quite a bit harder by his constant sticking his own foot in his mouth and his rank hypocrisy on the issue of abortion, even though he still isn’t McCain.

It’s not that he’s pro-abortion (call it “pro-choice” all you like, your Orwellian word games affect us not one little bit), that’s his personal opinion and whereas we disagree with it, it is possible for reasonable people to disagree on an issue and still get along. It’s not like the office of the President has the power to single-handedly settle the issue either way. Also, he’s not McCain.

No, it’s his constant trying to straddle the fence and eating his cake while having it too which, unfortunately for Rudy, is very much like McCain. Either you’re pro-abortion or you’re anti-abortion, Rudy. Pick one. Don’t waste time trying to establish your non-existent anti-abortion bona fides when it’s obvious that you don’t mean it; that you’re just pandering. Just like McCain would do.

You tried weaseling out of your endorsement of federal funding of the abortion mills, and in spite of your “explanation” being, shall we say, less than totally convincing, we really wanted to cut you some slack; maybe you really did mean to say “only in a very few extreme and rare cases” even though it certainly wasn’t what came out of your mouth and, above all, you have emphasized a lot that you believe it should be a States’ Rights Issue, something with which we completely agree. Also, you’re not McCain.

And then this turns up.

You personally donated money, not once, but six times to to Planned Genocide Inc.?

How the fuck is a reasonable person supposed to believe that you “personally abhor abortion” when you repeatedly hand over money to baby-killers, the single most rabidly pro-abortion murder mill in the United States, an organization making a living off of chopping up unborn children and plunging scissors into their skulls?

And don’t give us any “nuance” about donating only to provide “education.” That “argument” is every bit as lame as donating money to Hamas to “support their humanitarian efforts.”

We can’t stand liars and hypocrites, Rudy, even if they’re not McCain.

I have alot of respect for Rudy. After what he did to clean up New Yuck and how he handled 9/11…you would have to be a retarded assmonkey to not like and respect the guy…

But I will only vote for him if he wins the candidacy. I’m patiently waiting for Fred to get in the race. He’s the only one that will have my enthusiastic vote, whereas Rudy will find me holding my nose and expecting him to do a RINO/GW on us.

    From the article:

Federal tax returns made public by the former New York mayor show that he and his then-wife, Donna Hanover, made personal donations to national, state and city chapters of Planned Parenthood totaling $900 in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999

I wonder if it was his wife that made the donations? He may have been an “unknowing donater” at the time.

Rudy, the horns of a dilemma. You want to vote for the guy and you admire what he did, but you know in your mind that he’s not the guy you think he is.

If Rudy is the nominee, and if he wins, and if the Congress stays in the hands of the enemy he will tack liberal. Not good for the war and not good for society. There’s too much at stake for our civilization to turn to leftism as a solution to our problems of survival.

Unfortunately that’s what I think will happen if we vote Rudy.

    Good Point ScottG #3-

Look for all the current front-runner GOP candidates to fake right and run left. Considering the majority of them are closet RINOs, it’s to be expected and pointed out by the true Conservative base.

The Wicked Witch from Chappaqua will no doubt stick with the triangulation playbook, but the loony-left is going to abandon her right into a train-wreck for the Surrender Party.

2008 is a big opportunity for a real conservative GOP candidate to move into the vacuum created by McTraitor and Rudy both.

Although I have an almost uncorrupted agreement with the Empire, I disagree with it on this issue. My religion is atheism and I think that Roe v Wade was a brilliant piece of legislation. I also understand the position of those who disagree. If you believe in a soul that is extant at conception then you have to take your position. If you think that the soul is an utter fiction, as I do, then viability is a reasonable threshold. Given zero definitive (or any other kind of) proof for either viewpoint it must be a personal decision.
I don’t think Rudy’s pandering is a good thing. I think that his statement that he will not appoint legislative justices is about all a president can do, and that may be too late to get rid of Roe anyway, stare decesis and all. I disagree with Roe on jurisdictional grounds, not moral ones.
Frankly, making this a litmus test is a very bad idea. He has said he will appoint strict constructionists. That’s all a President can do. Move on and select someone who can win and will act on the things he can effect the way you want. Don’t get caught up in tilting at windmills.
I also get very annoyed when I hear implications that you have to believe in a god to behave in a moral and just manner. I think I have done a pretty good job without it.

Fred was polled in 1994 and said……* Under abortion: He checked the box for: “Abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy.” He did, however, support a number of restrictions on abortion: requiring parental notification, allowing states to impose waiting periods, and eliminating all federal funding of abortion.

And if you’re not being sarcastic or ironic here, then you’re a moron. Any ‘legislation’ passed by the Judicial Branch is not “brilliant”, it’s unconstitutional.

If it didn’t come from the Legislative Branch it’s not legislation.

True, you don’t have to believe in a god to behave in a ‘moral’ manner — you just have to follow the moral code proscribed by the culture. Of course, the culture’s moral code — the moral code you’ve adopted — was developed by people who did believe in a god. So you still have a theistic morality, you just don’t properly identify its source. That’s called ‘plagiarism’.

Complete and utter bullshit. There is nothing that references the Easter Bunny in the golden rule, which is to treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. Consequences are temporal. Do you really guide your actions based on what heavenly reward or punishment you may receive after you are dead? That is astonishingly….sad. And rather brutish.

No, I base my actions on what I know to be right and wrong based on Gods commandments. But yes, there are rewards and consequences for your actions, not only in the next world, but this one as well.

My comment about consequences meant that if your morals are based solely on your own decisions as to what is right or wrong, you can change them, follow them, or ignore them to suit your own desires. When morals are based on what God, or even others, desire of us, and we violate them, then we have disappointed Him and them, not just ourselves.

As to the Eater Bunny comment, so what. Don’t care much for the pagan hold over myself, it robs from the true meaning of Easter. I have no idea what he has to do with religious beliefs or why you brought him up. Speaking of which, the Golden Rule was given to us by Christ. Kind of a theistic moral value.

Commander, I think I understand where you are coming from. See, to me, the source of morality stems from our nature as human beings. We are rational, first and foremost. Our greatest value is our own life. Our means of survival is our thinking mind. Thus, our morality stems from these basic premises. In this case, one does not really need a belief in a higher being in order to be moral.
