We’re sure Lugosi and Reid are upset with their allies for coming out in the open and admitting this in connection with the attack that left 3 American troops MIA:

Mohamad al-Janabi, a reputed al-Qaeda member in the nearby city of Salman Pak, said in a interview that he was unable to contact his comrades in Mahmudiyah to determine whether they were responsible for the attack.

But he added: “I can assure you that we will start pressuring Bush in a new way at the same time he is facing pressures from the Democrats and the American people. And there will be no problem to sacrifice 10 soldiers in order to abduct a single American soldier and get him on television screens begging for us to release him.” [Emphasis ours — Emp.M.]

At least al-Qaeda know who their friends are. This might be a good time to start wire-tapping Lugosi, Reid and Dean’s phones.

LC & IB Ace, as always, nails it:

Notice Al Qaeda is not pressuring us to stay, which is odd, because I keep being told that Al Qaeda loves having American troops in Iraq and Bush is “playing right into their hands.”

Question: Would these tapes be considered a “coordinated” media buy for the Democrats under McCain-Feingold? Will the FEC investigate?

Yes, the Dem Cong are objectively pro-terrorist, as George Orwell would have put it. Their every action and talking point help al-Qaeda directly, and al-Qaeda is kind enough to confirm it.

But heck, if you’re an America-hating socialist scumweasel, you have to take every endorsement you can get.

Perfect - right from the horse’s mouth.

I guess Pelosi’s got her marching orders.

What’s going to be the tipping point when we do something about the enemy in congress?

we will start pressuring Bush in a new way at the same time he is facing pressures from the Democrats and the American people.

Using your contextual logic, it seems he would think that the American people are his allies too. (or did you miss the second part of that statement?)

For crying out loud, Misha, this guy is employing common public relations. He knows nothing, but will take advantage of any opportunity to spin his cause.

He has already admitted that he didn’t know if his ‘comrades’ were involved or not — but he wants you to think they are. He is also employing that “divide and conquer” technique by insinuating that there is some sort of collusion between Democrats (and the American people) and Al Queda.

The mayor of Mahmudiyah, Muaiad Fadhil Hussein, said the attack happened near the village of Beshesha, west of the city. He described it as “one of the most dangerous areas of the city, in which Arab and Iraqi terrorists exist, and not even innocent civilians can enter it.”[emphasis mine] Source

Okay, this should be easy then.

Since apparently, there are no innocent civilians in the area, then completely level it. Make the assumption that these three soldiers are already dead. I know that sounds cold, but if we start putting a ‘value’ on hostages, then this kind of thing is going to escalate.

    DJ,

C’mon - how cut off from the world would this guy have to be to NOT be aware of (for example) Reid’s calls for surrender, Pelosi’s long weekends with the Syrians and Murtha’s…oh, don’t even get me started on Murtha.

He knows who his allies are on our shores, and given that these people were elected by a percentage of americans, he probably feels safe in assuming that they must be on his side of the ‘get the infidels out of the country’ argument as well.

He isn’t employing ‘divide & conquer’ - he’s just attaching himself to Reid’s employment of it, like some last-second Murtha pork-rider.

    Well! Well! Well!

My hat is off to you DJ for the following: “Since apparently, there are no innocent civilians in the area, then completely level it. Make the assumption that these three soldiers are already dead. I know that sounds cold

Exactly right! The Bush ROE in Iraq has been flawed since its inception…

Now I do have a bone to pick with you in regards to this: “For crying out loud, Misha, this guy is employing common public relations. He knows nothing, but will take advantage of any opportunity to spin his cause“…

Hmmm, so you don’t think the biased and lying MSM isn’t being beamed into terrorist towel head land?

You don’t think that incidents like Pelosi taking time to pander to terrorist in Syria for instance but not making time for General Petraeus don’t make an impact?

    Come on now DJ… :wink_wp:

A follow up coming from the New York Sun: Despite the rising antipathy toward Al Qaeda, the tribal sheikhs in the Sunni regions in particular are very clear that their new alliance with the Americans is merely a tactical one. Sheikh Hussein summed it up: “We would like America, a friend, to rebuild the country. This is what we want, what the tribes want. But to stay here as a military force indefinitely is unacceptable.” For Sheikh Hussein, however, the prospect of a speedy exit is also unacceptable. At a luncheon at a home of one of his cousins, he asked this reporter, “Please, tell the Democrats for now to stop pressuring Bush.”

Using your contextual logic, it seems he would think that the American people are his allies too. (or did you miss the second part of that statement?)

The “American people”, from where he’s standing, says whatever the MSM say that they “say”, and the MSM says whatever the DNC says they should say.

For crying out loud, Misha, this guy is employing common public relations. He knows nothing, but will take advantage of any opportunity to spin his cause.

And there is, except I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s conscious. But the collusion is there. You can’t tell a Zawahiri press release from one coming from Harry Reid anymore.

The “why” doesn’t really matter. The fact remains that the Democrats are doing everything he wants them to do. They’re objectively pro-terrorist.

Since apparently, there are no innocent civilians in the area, then completely level it. Make the assumption that these three soldiers are already dead. I know that sounds cold, but if we start putting a ‘value’ on hostages, then this kind of thing is going to escalate.

Spot on, Deej. I couldn’t agree more.

Unfortunately, it’s not going to happen.

Which is cause, and which is the effect? Or, really, does it matter at all, since the terroristas and the democrtatas have the same objective.

If we lost in Iraq, who WON, Harry?

And, for what it’s worth, I agree - level the place, plow it under, pour salt on the ground, and plant landmines.

Sheikh Hussein summed it up: “We would like America, a friend, to rebuild the country. This is what we want, what the tribes want. But to stay here as a military force indefinitely is unacceptable.”

Sheikh Hussein seems to have a pretty clear appreciation of how the world works. Nobody will accept a military occupation, and the military hates being an occupier. It’s the dirtiest kind of war.

Military interventions that have worked, worked because the military broke the back of whatever organisation was destabilising the place, while at the same time promoting a transition to an orderly society.

Sierra Leone isn’t out of the woods yet, but it is doing a lot better. You can point to the British army as the architect of that change.

Iraq is a lot more complex. Personally, I say partition it into Kurdish, Sunni and Shia states. Leave the pro-Iranians to their own devices; they will fall out with their paymasters, very violently, inside of a year. Help the rest of the country get rich.

You could draw down forces dramatically if you simply let those who don’t want a modern, free society go their own way, and concentrate on those who do. In the end, I expect the ‘terrorists’ will hang their Al-Qaeda and Iranian ‘advisors’ and join the civilised world.

It worked in the Balkans, and they’re vicious buggers. I believe it would work in Iraq, too.

10 to one? Not bad, but we’re running, what, 20-30 to one? I still say that I agree in one respect with the domestic enemys agenda, pull our troops out. Where I disagree is the follow-on. As soon as our people are clear, NUKE ‘EM.
