…but we already knew that.

With the White House’s blessing, the Senate has reached a deal on immigration. And Sen. John McCain has handed his opponents for the Republican nomination a mighty club to wield against him — if they choose to use it.

As Rudy Giuliani’s lead over the Arizona senator slipped into the single digits in many national polls, McCain assumed a lower profile on the immigration issue. Sen. Sam Brownback went even further, repudiating his support for last year’s Senate bill containing a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Now there is a new bill offering such a provision and McCain, like fellow Arizonan Jon Kyl, is on board.

“We’re making a list, we’re checking it twice…”

The reaction to the immigration announcement was swift. Newt Gingrich, the former House speaker and perhaps future presidential candidate, denounced it on Sean Hannity’s radio show as “a sellout of every conservative principle.” The Heritage Foundation agreed. Congressman Mike Pence issued a statement calling the bill an amnesty.

While the deal was being picked apart by talk radio and the blogs, John McCain was appearing on television with Ted Kennedy to promote it. Arlen Specter’s presence — and insistence that the Senate isn’t talking about amnesty — doesn’t give McCain much cover with conservatives. Neither does the news that the bill was drafted with the help of liberal groups like the National Council of La Raza.

Get that?

McSwine was co-operating with the murderer of Chappaquiddick and the racist organization La Raza to get this Shamnesty passed, and he’s bragging about it.

My only regret is that I can’t withhold my vote from McSwine, because he wasn’t ever going to get it anyway. But as far as the rest of the RINO ratweasels endorsing this sellout of America and conservative principles goes, you can go pound sand too. And that goes for the entire GOP if this travesty of a Bill passes in any shape, form or fashion.

NOT ONE DIME, NOT ONE VOTE.

We obviously have a one-party system already, so why bother? The war? Tell me what the point is in our soldiers fighting and dying for a country that the RINOs and Dhimmis will have given away before they get home. They’re out there putting their lives on the line for something that not even the GOP cares enough about to vote for.

Washington DC is doing what al-Qaeda could never do: Destroying the country from within.

***UPDATE:*** Obligatory Fred! Moment™:

No matter how much lipstick Washington tries to slap onto this legislative pig, it’s not going to win any beauty contests. In fact, given Congress’s track record, the bill will probably get a lot uglier — at least from the public’s point of view. And agreeing to policies before actually seeing what the policies are is a heck of a way to do business.

We should scrap this “comprehensive” immigration bill and the whole debate until the government can show the American people that we have secured the borders — or at least made great headway. That would give proponents of the bill a chance to explain why putting illegals in a more favorable position than those who play by the rules is not really amnesty.

Read the whole thing.

FRED! IN ‘08!

***UPDATE the 2nd:*** LC & IB Rick Moran skewers the Bill and the morons defending it. Ouch! Nice job.

I just mailed a three page letter to my Senator just this morning telling him that he better get off his ass and start fighting this shit or come his next election time I’m going to campaign for anyone that runs against him, and that if his only reason for even being in Congress is to keep getting elected then he better find another line of work because he was as useless as rubber lips on a woodpecker..

Well…not exactly in those words…I was politely snarky and more civil than he deserved.

Make noise. When in a store or whatever, make noise. Talk loudly about it. Get the people around you either fired up or pissed off (I personally enjoy doing exactly *both* of those things). Do like I did and write, in big letters, something on your car/truck window no one can miss about immigration or whatever. Let people hear and see that you’re angry and frustrated about the way our government is fucking each and every one of us more and more. When it comes time to vote, vote for anyone but the two major parties (unless of course there’s someone running actually worth voting for in them).

A separate question - when I go in to vote at our little volunteer fire department, I am *required* to mark on a paper thing whether I am Republican or Democrat. Why are there no other choices? I’ve raised hell about it right there next to the voting booths, but never get any answer because the folk running the place don’t know either. I couldn’t figure out who else to ask, so figured I’d ask here…you guys got knowledge that us poor country folk are missing, heh.

What is your stand on the illegal alien amnesty (don’t tell me it isn’t, I am not stupid)? You folks in Washington no longer seem to be representing American citizens, but do represent Mexico. If this bill passes, our country is no more. Are you proud of that? Is that what our citizens have fought and died for? And, if illegal aliens do not have to comply with the law, what laws can I break with impunity? We do NOT need new laws that will not be enforced; we only need to enforce the laws we already have. And what part of “illegal” does Congress not understand? I am sick at heart watching my country swirl around the drain. Vote against this bill and/or filibuster against it with all your might. Future generations will rise up and call you blessed.

Simply unbelievable. Why in the hell is it that “bipartisanship” (the art of Republican’s caving in on supposed core values in order to get gold stars from the media) so celebrated. What we have hear is a complete and utter failure of leadership from the Republicans in the sissy branch of the legislature. One can only hope that there are enough legislators with backbones to stop this abomination.

I expect lunacy from some quarters - hell, life woud be boring if everyone made perfect sense - but the huge numbers of imbeciles is starting to worry me.

They didn’t even please the illegals with this one. I listened to a local left-wing talk show yesterday, and they were interviewing a Hispanic social worker who was complaining about the restrictiveness of this bill, the cost of the fee, etc. She was afraid many illegal immigrants would continue to be just that, rather than pay the fine and go back and stand in line, even though it would mean guaranteed citizenship. WTF do they want? Citizenship gift-wrapped and hand-delivered for free? What are we gaining from keeping these people here exactly?

  14. Unregistered Comment by GyorgLyquor

You know, I used to be in favor of the fair tax, or federal sales tax, or whatever. But now, I’m thinking seriously about just cheating on my taxes. Because in the end that is one of the places this Amnesty bill is going to hit us. Our taxes are going to go up to pay for all our new ‘guests’.

That’s what the idiots in washington don’t get. It isn’t the fact that they are here that is the problem, its that they don’t play by the rules.
They aren’t interested in assimilating, so our schools and government agencies now have to be have bilingual employees, offer classes in Spanish, etc. You think that’s free?

And how much do you think they are costing us filling up our prison systems? That’s one of the reasons why you want to control who emmigrates to your country - you want good people who are willing to assimilate, you dont want some country exporting all its criminals to you.

And then there’s healthcare. We have enough American citizens who go to the emergency room without insurance, have a baby, etc., and the hospital never sees a dime from them. We don’t need another 12 million. You and me have a big chunk of our paycheck taken out every month for health insurance. And its more than it would normally be because we are paying for all those people who don’t have it to. You didn’t think the hospital or insurance company was going to absorb the cost did you? Shit rolls downhill.

Same with car insurance. You damn well better have uninsured motorist coverage (which is expensive) if you ever get hit by an illegal, because you are a fool if you think any of them have auto insurance.

And houseing costs. How the hell are they able to afford living in the same apartment complex as me? I’ll tell you how - they are living with a dozen other guys, and they forgo the niceties like cable, water, etc. Well, I don’t particularly want to live like that.

Sure the big evil corporations are profiting by paying the illegals less, but they illegals are not experiencing the same cost of living as you and me. Salaries in this country have stagnated (unlike costs of living), and I don’t see how this couldn’t be part of the reason why - people in lower income jobs are competing with these guys, and mid-income with outsourcing. I lost my last job to some guys in India, and my new job pays half as much. And my story is by no means uncommon.

The only people benefitting from all this are the corporations (who are by coincidence often connected in some way to, or at least much better equipped to lobby, our politicians), and the illegals. At least in my view the corporations are the only ones the politicians are actually ‘representing’, it sure isn’t us. Well, that and the fact that we know pretty much who the illegals will all (and many already do) vote for.

    FIGHT BACK!

    NOW…Oppose Guest Worker Amnesty!

Decision on Immigration Reform May Come Within 24 Hours!
Call Your Representatives NOW to Tell Them You Oppose Guest Worker Amnesty!
Once again, FAIR is urging all of our members to IMMEDIATELY CALL your Representatives and Senators to urge them to reject the all guest worker amnesty legislation!!! THERE IS NO TIME TO LOSE!

Right now, amnesty proponents are using a dual track to get a guest worker amnesty bill through Congress. Last week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) reintroduced last year’s notorious guest worker amnesty bill, now numbered S.1348, and announced that he will use Senate Rule 14 to skip the committee process and bring the bill directly to the Senate floor on WEDNESDAY!!! At that time, according to Senator Reid, the Senate will vote on a motion to proceed with debate.
Meanwhile, a group of about ten Senators, led by Senator Jon Kyl (R-AZ), has been negotiating behind closed doors with the White House to create a new guest worker amnesty plan-one they hope will buy off more Republican support. According to various news sources, this plan is similar to one proposed by the White House at the end of March. That plan contained a new Z visa program that would allow illegal aliens to stay and work in the United States indefinitely. It also contained two guest worker programs for high-skilled and low-skilled workers that would allow hundreds of thousands of foreign workers come to the U.S. to compete with American workers.
Negotiators are hoping that if they can get a compromise finished by TONIGHT, they will bring the new language to the floor on Wednesday amend it onto the Senate bill instead of debating last year’s language. But whichever proposal lands on the floor, the Senate is on track to pass guest worker amnesty legislation unless you stop it!!
It is IMPERATIVE that you call your Representatives and Senators IMMEDIATELY and tell them you oppose both last year’s bill and the White House plan.
Please call your members and tell them that true immigration reform means creating an immigration policy that serves our national interests. We must stop illegal immigration by securing our borders and punishing employers who hire illegal aliens. Creating guest worker programs or granting amnesty to law breakers will do nothing to stop illegal immigration and will only further burden our broken immigration system. Moreover, granting amnesty fundamentally unfair to those all over the world, who play by the rules and patiently wait in line.
CALL YOUR MEMBERS AND URGE THEM TO REJECT BOTH GUEST WORKER AMNESTY PROPOSALS!!!

can you imagine Americans being cuffed by a Santa Fe law officer, who just happens to be a mexican national?

I agree that sounds like a shitty situation Cheapshot, until I read near the bottom of the article:

“Every day, we get approached by young men and women from Mexico who are in the country legally but are not naturalized,” Alessio said.

“There is a huge pool of people who are dedicated, hardworking and trying to become citizens of this country. They would like nothing better than to devote their time to protecting the communities that they live in,” she said.

To be honest I don’t have a problem with those that are legally going through the immigration process. Those aren’t the people that are the problem. It’s the bastards that are sneaking in and demanding all the freebies. If the US Military can take them in, then I don’t see why they can’t be part of Law Enforcement. They can already communicate with the illegals, and having jumped through the hoops and barked for the biscuits..they tend to not be as sympathetic to the lawbreakers. Maybe I’m just desperately looking for something positive in this giant pile of shit….but that’s how I read it.
