We learned, courtesy of LC WC Varones, that we’d gotten some online twit’s panties in a big, uncomfortable bunch with this post and went over to have a look, hoping against hope that there might be something of interest contained within his indignant temper tantrum.

Sadly, there wasn’t. Just the usual “how dare you call St McCain names? Don’t you know he’s a bona fide WAR HERO???”, coupled with the even more usual pro-amnesty line of “you’re just against amnesty because you don’t like immigrants!”, which the bumbling fools use ever so often, knowing full well that criticizing somebody for being against illegal immigration isn’t likely to impress anybody except for Democrats and, well, lawbreakers. When the truth doesn’t work, make up a lie and use that instead. A technique popular among intellectual midgets all over the world.

So I left a comment, letting him know that yes, I do know that McVain has an outstanding service record, but that I wasn’t aware that such a thing automatically meant that you could never be called names or criticized ever again. After all, Benedict Arnold’s service record was even more impressive than McVain’s, yet I never hear anybody defending his later actions based on his earlier great deeds. At least not anybody that I would credit with being a sentient life form.

And, of course, I had to point out the humor in hearing some insufferable clown accusing an immigrant of being “anti-immigrant.” I just never can seem to get enough of that line; it makes me laugh every single time I hear it. Laugh with a combination of mirth and pity for the fool uttering it. Pity because of the horror I feel just thinking about having to go through life as ignorant as that. I’m not called “Misha the Compassionate” for nothing, you know.

And I thought that would be the end of it, but obviously this Paul Geary fellow wasn’t yet quite done convincing me of the unfathomable depths of his ineptitude, because he promptly scribbled down this post, undoubtedly to provide me with further evidence of his utter cluelessness.

Dearest Paul, I appreciate the effort, but you truly didn’t have to. No, really, I was already convinced halfway through your first post. But since you’re so hellbent and determined, who am I to ignore your desperate plea for the title of Dumbass of the Week? Only this time, I’ll use this site to reply since, quite honestly, the formatting options in your comments leave rather a lot to be desired, seeing as how they’re pretty much non-existent.

We received this comment from “Misha I,” - “Emperor Misha I” on his site - who penned the “Ho Chi McCain” line. (Comments by unregistered users aren’t allowed on his site.)

No, they aren’t. If one day Akismet proves to be as reliable as it’s always promised to be, or if some other wonderful anti-spam plugin comes down the pike, then we’ll be happy to get rid of the registration doo-hickey that we never liked in the first place but, until then, we’re afraid that we’re going to have to ask you to go through the hideously complicated, unduly onerous process of choosing a username and password. Registration is open, however, so it’s not like you have to get a secret decoder ring out of your favorite breakfast cereal first. At least you didn’t cry “censorship.”

(Then follows a quote of my previous comment on his site in this post, complete with lots of emphasis for those of his readers who can’t stay focused for more than two sentences. Or for his own benefit, perhaps).

An immigrant is charging John McCain with treason!

“How dares he???”

I’m sorry, Paul. I wasn’t aware that immigrants weren’t allowed to do that, I was under the impression that, once naturalized, they were as much citizens as anybody else and that we’d given up on that whole royalty thing when King George got his arse well and truly whupped.

Aren’t legal immigrants required to understand the Constitution?

They should be, if you ask me but no, they’re not. At least, in my defense, I can honestly claim that I understand it a great deal better than most natives, a fact that I find endlessly distressing, not to say downright shameful.

If so, how did “Misha I” get in?

Through the standard, endless, ponderous legal process, the one that lawbreakers, thanks to McVain, the White House and Fat Fuck Kennedy, ought to be allowed to bypass entirely, along with a full pass on any and all crimes they may have committed since they broke the law by entering illegally the first time, crimes such as perjury, forgery of federal documents and tax evasion. Yes, I do feel rather silly now. I should’ve just bided my time and applied for a Z visa instead. Perhaps I can get all the taxes back that I was stupid enough to pay, as a consolation?

How is John McCain “treasonous?” What in the Constitution pre-empts the current bill?

Perhaps in “Misha I’s” former country political disagreement and treason are widely viewed as synonymous.

No, but violating your oath and abusing your office attained after laying down that oath in order to destroy that which you’re sworn to protect is. Such as, say, shredding the First Amendment’s protections of free political speech, but perhaps you’ve never heard of McCain/Feingold? I wouldn’t be surprised if you hadn’t. Undermining your country’s sovereignty and safety by weakening its borders, betraying the equal protection clause by applying different legal standards for citizens and illegal immigrants is also treason. Look it up. No, let’s look it up for you:

trea·son /ˈtrizən/ tree-zuhn]
–noun
1. the offense of acting to overthrow one’s government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. a violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or to one’s state.
3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery. [Emphasis added just for you, Paul. Don’t say I don’t care — Emp.M.]

Definition “2″ works pretty well too, since eliminating the sovereignty of a free state by rendering its borders meaningless does absolutely nothing to prove your allegiance to the state you’re a legislator of, but let’s just stick with “3″ to avoid confusing you.

We probably aren’t even very far apart on the issue, though he seems to think I’m on the other “side.” Just another who would rather engage in cowardly name-calling from the safety of his computer than honest debate, much like The New York Times and others have done on the other side.

Not to put too much of a strain on your limited intellect, but how on Earth else was I supposed to comment on your online blather, if not “from the safety of my computer?” Surely you’re not suggesting that I travel to wherever it is that you live and take you out to dinner first? Besides, if there is something “wrong” about commenting “from the safety of your computer”, what the everloving Hades are you doing with a blog in the first place, not to mention what is the purpose of you having a comments section?

As far as “name-calling” goes, I’m beginning to regret calling you an “insufferable clown”, since it is becoming increasingly clear that I was being far too generous.

The Declaration of Independence, in its list of grievances against the king, includes this:

I may not know enough about the Constitution to meet your undoubtedly exacting standards, but at least I can tell it from the Declaration of Independence.

So we’re supposed to do what with the 12 million illegals here? Put in jail every businessman that hires one (knowingly or not)?

Careful playing around with matches with strawmen nearby.

I’m not entirely sure exactly when I said that businessmen unknowingly hiring an illegal alien should be jailed, but perhaps it came to you in a dream? As to those knowingly doing so (or failing to verify the resident status of a new hire according to laws already on the books)… No, I don’t really have a problem with jailing and/or fining them through the nose. They are breaking the law, after all, and in most civilized societies breaking the law means facing punishment. I know that goes completely against anything that you, Kennedy, McVain and assorted other clowns believe in, but the principle of enforcing the law and making criminals face consequences has worked rather well for mankind since the dawn of time.

Nationalize Southwest Airlines so we have the infrastructure to deport all 12 million illegals?

Pouring gasoline on your strawman isn’t going to reduce the risk of sudden conflagration, Paul. I just thought you’d like to know. Third degree burns can be downright nasty.

Here’s another idea: How about actually deporting the illegal aliens we apprehend every single day? You know, enforcing the laws already on the books? I know, however did I come up with that? What can I say? I’m a visionary. But hey, if that’s too much of a bother, why don’t we “solve” the problems of child molestation, rape, murder, robbery and burglary as well by simply legalizing it? It’s not like we’ve had much luck abolishing any of those crimes through enforcement, and there are far more criminals than we can ever hope to catch, so why not just stop being silly about it and legalize the whole shebang?

Create a bureaucracy and a police force even bigger than the one we already have to deal with immigration issues?

A bureaucracy that will surely shrink to nothingness when they suddenly have to deal with 12-20 million applications for Z visas, 40 million family reunification applications, 12 to 20 million payment plans for the “fines” that we all know aren’t going to be paid anyway etc. etc. etc. On top of the paperwork associated with all of the dumb oafs who were daft enough to apply through legal channels instead of just breaking into the house and taking what they wanted, of course.

You’re a genius, Paul. And by “genius” I mean “utter knucklehead.”

Build a wall eerily reminiscent of one that was recently taken down in Berlin, that prevented people going from the country they wanted to leave to the one they wanted to be in?

Awww… You saved the best Stupid™ for last. How considerate of you. I’ve always hated skipping straight to the dessert.

You know, we really need a Stalin Corollary to Godwin’s Law if you insufferable Kennedy Klowns keep that up. Of course securing your borders and controlling who goes in and out is exactly the same as keeping all of your citizens locked up in a giant Gulag, shooting them in the back if they dare try to leave. Why, every single country that ever had a border and put up a customs checkpoint are exactly the same as the Soviet Union!!!

They’re “preventing people from going from the country they want to leave to the one they want to be in”, after all.

How, how COMMUNIST/FASCIST/NAZI/RACIST/EEEEEEEEEEEVIL of them!

Listen, I know that you’re just an imbecile studying to become a moron, but I have to tell you that you’re not going to graduate any time soon unless you start hitting the books, Paul.

While we’re on the subject, who the hell is going to contribute to social security when all of these seniors retire? Make the 12 million illegals legal, and guess what - they would pay social security taxes. We need more working contributors to the system, not fewer, if we’re to keep it.

Absolutely. Nothing like 60 million unskilled laborers doing the jobs that no Americans will do to shore up Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and all of the other welfare programs we’ve been burdening the taxpayers with ever since FDR thought up his brilliant New Deal. Our Treasury will be positively overflowing, filled to bursting point when all of those minimum wage earners start getting their Earned Income Tax Credits on top of the enormous financial burden on our system that they already are.

Listen, Paul. Before you start dragging economics into your already faltering argument, you might want to figure out what the subject is all about and how an economy actually works.

But of course this isn’t really about the issue. It’s about the level of the discourse.

To which you’ve added nothing at all. Kindergarteners where I come from know more than you do, and it’s safe to say that we’re all a little bit dumber now for having read your ignorant blather.

But at least, when we wake up tomorrow, we can still thank our L-rd and Maker that, no matter what other trials and tribulations we may be facing now and in the future, we’re still not Paul Geary.

Yes, we have much to be grateful for.

It’s a wild and exotic place, the Internet.

It’s a place where a legal immigrant from the shadow of the Iron Curtain can be accused of being reflexively anti-immigrant and a quasi-communist.

Incidentally, I wonder how he’d react to all the other issues for which you’ve identified McCain as a traitor. Blogging is a hazardous pastime for the willfully ignorant. Sooner or later, you’re going to make uproarious assumptions about someone based on flyby psychoanalysis and you’re going to be hilariously, hideously wrong.

It would be ironic, except this person has no idea who you are, whereas you know McCain’s opinion pretty well.

But of course this isn’t really about the issue. It’s about the level of the discourse.

And he’s actually got his panties in a bunch over what you wrote? We ought to send Paul Geary this link: “Rock ‘Em” by Mike Vanderbeough.

“If breaking windows be the sport…”

The breaking windows that the English poet Cowper was celebrating were the windows of American Tories, broken by the Sons of Liberty in the run-up to the American Revolution. In Eighteenth Century America, windows were expensive and difficult to replace. It was said you could tell an American colonist’s wealth by the size and number of the windows in his house. As most of the high-ranking Tories loyal to the King were rich, their windows became natural targets when the Sons of Liberty wanted to send a message. If the head of the local militia was a Tory, he would be persuaded to resign his commission by breaking his windows. If a Boston merchant refused to join the boycott of British goods, he would have to hire a glazier in the morning. Tax collectors and other crown functionaries shuttered their houses, only have the shutters torn from their hinges by a mob and then have their windows broken. Sounds harsh? The rise of American independence was accompanied by the tune of breaking glass, and we wouldn’t be free today without it…

    [snip]

We are at a crossroads in our history. No one can deny it. If this amnesty passes into law, (America) will be changed in ways that are surely as preventable as they are foreseeable. The Mandarin class of our “betters” has decided they no longer need to listen to us. How then shall we get their attention? What will it take to change the disastrous future they seek to write for us?

Maybe a Sons of Liberty brick through the window of every Democrat and Republican county headquarters with “Jail illegal employers!” written on one side and “No amnesty!” on the other will work. As a tactic, it does have the advantage of having been successfully employed in the past. Just ask Sam Adams. It is past time to demonstrate to the arrogant political class who believe themselves to be our rulers and not our servants that the Sons of Liberty still live. It is time to get their attention. It is time, in the words the fictional Captain Malcolm Reynolds of the Firefly class space freighter Serenity, to “misbehave.” Remember, “behaving” has gotten us to this point. What have we got to lose? More importantly, what will we lose if we don’t?

Read it all. It’s more than worthy of Imperial attention.

I’m tempted to go get some bricks right now.

This may draw a few comments and be unpopular but the hell with it. What I’ve heard from combat veterans who served in Viet Nam is McCain got special treatment while a POW. It is why he is the only POW whose record is sealed, and remains so. Apparently his dad was some high-up in the government or military. I can tell you he does not have the respect of these veterans. Whether this is fact or fiction, I do not know. However, the remark he made during the debate last week regarding “torturing” terrorists, was enough for me to lose my respect for him.

Now, what are the chances of getting his records voluntarily unsealed? After all, if he wants us to know just exactly what kind of soldier he really was, he should be willing to voluntarily open his records! Just like John Kerry did!!

Oh, yeah, right, forgot about that……
