His Imperial Majesty has to admit that he was more than a bit baffled to read this, that the Senate had voted with 64 votes in favor of keeping the Guest Worker Cheap Slave Labor Program™ alive.

Baffled because his own Senators, Cornyn and Hutchison, were both on the record as voting in favor of keeping it in there when they’d both, wisely and gratifyingly, voted against letting the Bill in its entirety move forward at all earlier. Something doesn’t sound right there. Why would you vote to kill a Bill and then, the next day, vote to keep one of its idiotic provisions alive?

One possibility, other than Business and Backstabbing as Usual in DC which must never be discounted when dealing with Congresscritters, could be that they didn’t want the Bill to become more palatable and thus easier to pass. Some say that stripping the Slave Labor Program would’ve killed the Zhamnesty Bill immediately, but I’m not so sure. After all, the proponents of the Democrat Incumbents’ Protection for Eternity Act of ‘07 would still get their bulk amnesty, guest worker program or not and that is, after all, the cornerstone of their strategy to create a huge, dependent voter bloc that will forever vote Democrat.

Hey, it’s a theory.

The other, more cynical side of me, the side used to the self-anointed royalty in DC and their lust for power and lack of concern for their constituents, says that the two Senators only cast the initial vote to cover their own backsides, in order to later be able to say “hey, but look at this. We tried, didn’t we?”

One thing’s for sure, I’ll be letting both of them know that my position hasn’t changed. If that Atrocity of a Bill passes in any shape, form or fashion, they need to start brushing up on their resumes, because I’ll be actively campaigning to have them both fired.

You should do the same. Call, fax, email and write your congresscritters. Don’t let them think that we’ve forgotten and that they’re free to stab us in the back now.

KEEP THE PRESSURE UP.

Greetings, Sire. I have been flumoxxed by the older password system, and figured out it was finally customized to the site. Good show!

My two senators from Georgia voted to let the damn bill go to the floor. However, they had performed well in previous times, so MY conjecture is that they decided not to try burying it in committee and let Kennedy claim it was all sweetness, light, and goodness. Voting it to the floor dragged the entire, bloated, stinking carcass into view. The mere sight of the pile of paper comprising the bill was enough to make people ask, “you expected to vote on this in a WEEK??!?!?”

Writing points. We need writing points. I hear there are TWO visas being created: one requires leaving the country and paying a fine, while the other allows you to stay, get goodies, and eventually become a citizen. Is this true? “It’s not amnesty” Arlan Spectacle declares, citing the first visa (which is definitely NOT amnesty), while you know everyone will apply for the second, which definitely IS amnesty.

Another tack: write giving a list of the goodies that the legislation grants to illegals that they do not to citizens. Ask who pays for it, and then demand, “I’m a citizen. WHY CAN’T I HAVE SOME OF THAT?” kennedy wants to hold a pool party and invite only the Aliens: let’s bang on the fence, break the gates down, crowd into the pool area, and DEMAND EQUAL TREATMENT, BY GUM!

Doing so, of course, would break the bank for everyone, preventing him from handing out goodies to his favorites.

Third point: Not only write to your congresscritters, but to the lobbying organizations you send money to. For me, it is National Right to Life and a few GOP fundraising organizations. To others, the National Rifle Association. To others, Christian Coalition. Tell them you WON’T VOTE for Republicans or Democrats who vote for “amnesty by another name”. Point out that, even though they may not have a stake in the illegal immigration debate, losing Republicans in the senate would threaten the success of THEIR pet projects. Tell them to tell their lobbyists to tell this to OUR Senators: “Senator, we have no stake in the Immigration bill, but we’ve got nasty letters from our supporters threatening not to vote for you if you vote to support Visa-Z, and wanted US to tell you that. Losing you would be a great setback to us, and that WOULD affect us. Oh, and they had this message also: ‘Dig up some fossil propeller heads from the Cold War and get them to explain to you Tit for Tat and the Iterated Prisoner’s Dilemma.’ Something about punishing you now to ensure GOP cooperation later.”

Majesty, I had a brain cramp a bit ago. Let’s try a little experiment in Practical Politics.

Here (and on any other sites interested) pick the ONE Senator we want most to be gone. There are 33 seats up this election cycle, after all - one of them MUST have done more to piss off people more than the others. Doesn’t matter if they wear a “R”. “D” ot “I”.

Pick a Primary Opponent for him / her. Get as many people as possible to put one hundred bucks into the opponents treasure chest. No extra spending, take it out of what you would spend on politics anyway. I mean, we are all supporting SOMEONE, right?

    Retiring senators -
    Wayne Allard (R) of Colorado

    Possible retiring senators
    Joe Biden (D) of Delaware
    Thad Cochran (R) of Mississippi
    Larry Craig (R) of Idaho
Chuck Hagel (R) of Nebraska (Bout fuckin’ time!)
Tim Johnson (D) of South Dakota
    John Warner (R) of Virginia

    Democratic incumbent races
    Max Baucus of Montana
    Dick Durbin of Illinois
    Tom Harkin of Iowa
    John Kerry of Massachusetts
    Mary Landrieu of Louisiana
    Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey
    Carl Levin of Michigan
    Mark Pryor of Arkansas
    Jack Reed of Rhode Island
    Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia

    Republican incumbent races
    Lamar Alexander of Tennessee
    Saxby Chambliss of Georgia
    Norm Coleman of Minnesota
    Susan Collins of Maine
    John Cornyn of Texas
    Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina
    Pete Domenici of New Mexico
    Michael Enzi of Wyoming
    Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
    Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma
    Mitch McConnell of Kentucky
    Pat Roberts of Kansas
    Jeff Sessions of Alabama
    Gordon Smith of Oregon
    Ted Stevens of Alaska
    John Sununu of New Hampshire

Now, obviously, some of the above are safe. Others, if we defeat John F’n Kerry, it’s not like a conservative would be elected in Massachusetts, so the gain would be severly limited.

Chose the target wisely. Perhaps a RINO would be a good first target - if so, pick a “fair weather friend” and fire his ass.

After the primary, if we have not knocked him off the public soapbox, then we all toss in another C-note to his General Election opponent. For a total expense of $200 each, we have eliminated a pain in the ass.

Now, and this is important, DO NOT make any secret of what we are doing. Advertise. Scream it from the rooftops. Let everyone know we are “flexing our muscles”.

Maybe, NEXT TIME, when we elect a Republican, we will have a REPUBLICAN.

It just makes me sick to see all of the stuff that the illegals are getting, just jump the fence, pop a kid and the country is your oyster. Free medical care, dental, school for your kids and a host of other benefits not granted for anyone else.

I wrote both of my Georgia senators when I first read about their vote for amnesty.

Seems I’d been drinking that night, and my email included the words “violation” “oath” “treason” and “disgrace.”

    In vino, veritum, I suppose.
