Fuckhead,

There are few things that I hate with a passion burning so bright that it frightens me to even think about it.

Racists are among them. People calling me racist are too. Right up there with communists, Islamofascists and child molesters.

So kindly cease and desist. You’ll find it exceedingly hard to type what you pass off as “columns” with every bone in all of your fingers crushed with a hammer. In alphabetical order. What’s worse, I don’t much like the fact that I’d enjoy every second of it, so I’d just as soon that I never had to.

Thatisall,

Emperor Misha I

Novak, you may just find out that THAT description pisses off a lot of us.

People like you called me a racist when I said it was better to teach a man to fish than to give him one. After I marched in Selma.

People like you called me a racist when I pointed out that 19 out of 19 ot the 9/11 hijackers were followers of Mohammed.

People like you called me a racist when I allowed that special rights for people based on their own poor choices was a mistake, and would encourage more bad choices.

Quite frankly, sir, I am getting almighty tired of this shit from people like you.

You really won’t like me when I am mad. It isn’t pretty.

I would suggest that you re-evaluate your position before I help you do so.

There is an element of racism involved in this legislation, and it is in the opposite direction of what Novacula is describing.

What this proposed legislation does is purpetuate a form of slavery, based on race or nationality. The meme, “doing the work Americans won’t do” is simply a code phrase for institutionalized slavery.

It allows businesses to import workers who are willing to work at a lower wage than Americans, thus driving down labor costs and increasing profits.

A friend of mine used to work in a manufacturing job as a machine operator. He made a fairly good wage with benefits. Two years ago, he was laid off — along with 100 other machine operators and was replaced by illegal aliens willing to work for minimum wage and no benefits.

You see this in the construction field also, as well as many other fields.

It isn’t a case of doing the jobs Americans won’t do, it is doing the job for less than what Americans can afford to do the job for.

So, mayhaps, Dave, it is time for the Left and Right to join together and shoot this piece of shit in the ass.

Me, myself, I would object to the 12 - 25 million illegal immigrants if they were all nekid blonde women, coming to make my day.

Yeah, there are a lot of the “Jobs Americans Won’t do.” Tripple the pay y’all are offering for picking lettuce, and see how many ‘murricans ya have to turn away!

Once you drop ou the “undecideds”, this bill is opposed by majorities of Liberals, Conservatives and Middle-of-the-Roaders. It is opposed by Southerners, Yankees, Mid-westerners, left-coast, right-coast, doesn’t matter. It is opposed by legal Hispanics, Blacks, Whites, Amerinds and Asians. It is opposed by the elderly, middle aged and the young. It is opposed by poor and middle class. By Unions and Right to Work groups. By Millworkers, Miners, and Millionaires.

Damn Deej, that’s just about as on-target as it’s possible to get.

There’s another side too. Illegal immigration is a release valve for the countries of the world in the “festering hole” genus.

As long as it’s easier to the festering-holians to retreat, rather than apply themselves to building a functioning society where they ran from, the state of holedom will remain, forming a negative spiral.

Not to mention that holians will often bring the hole with them.

Americans DID and WILL DO the jobs, but cheap-ass employers take advantage of lower-than-minimum wage and desperate illegals, and honest employers eventually have to do the same to even compete.
Sweeping reforms would have to happen, and we all know that the US Senate is so removed, so untouched, so immune by anything resembling financial hardship, they will sell the remaining parts of the southern US that haven’t already been if they even hear there was a protest.
More illegals means more liberal votes. You think the Senate gives a shit about you, your neighborhood, the country? They care about their own wealth, votes and golf. That’s it, period. As long as illegals aren’t affecting senators directly in an adverse way, they will do whatever the fuck they want, no matter how loud you scream. Senate consists of loudmouth, arrogant, elitist snobs with no care about the country or its people. They care only about their own personal gain, and golf. Prove me wrong, please.
Plus: How many more times must the treasonous assholes call anti-illegal-immigration activists “anti-immigration” activists? Talk about unfair labels! It’s pretty sad when someone who is AGAINST SOMETHING ILLEGAL must be called an activist/racist/xenophobe.

    juandos:

While I won’t agree with DJ’s terminology (’slavery’ it ain’t, for the very reason you point out) I think his premise is spot on. What the proposed amnesty legislation establishes is a permanent or (at best) semi-permanent underclass that is wholly dependent upon big government welfare, education, health care, etc.

The Huxleyan invertebrates who habitually populate the governmental centers in Wash., DC, and thus have a vested professional and financial interest in the expansion of the federal government, go moist at the thought of an entire subsection of the population living totally on the goverment dole and thus guaranteed to vote for more handouts (and more government).

What the amnesty legislation creates — the ONLY thing it creates, cos it sure as hell doesn’t create any effective ways of a) securing the borders, or b) upholding the laws of the country — is a powerful block (~20-30 million = approx. 10% of the total population) of uneducated (civically and otherwise), unassimilated, unskilled, and (thus) underpaid voters that must live in ghettos and are forced to be lifelong dependents of the federal nanny state.

It’s not slavery per se. It is in fact something far worse: dependency.

Slavery would be a far better thing, as the inherent tension caused by the obvious inequity between slave and master stirs the human spirit to thoughts of liberty and independence. Dependency, however, spread through low-income communities by the ’soft bigotry of low expectations’ — a ‘bigotry’ antithetical to the very spirit of America, that through hard work, prudence, and perseverence one could improve one’s situation — enslaves whole generations with their somnambulant approval. As long as the Deltas receive their government handouts, they’ll gladly toil in the fields and construction sites and car washes for sub-standard wages, right? And ensure that the federal government has LOTS more money to piss away on bureaucracy, pork projects, and spring break vacations via tax-payer-funded private jets.

“When in the course of human events…”

Only problem is how do Conservatives avoid the bad feelings among potential voters if they are seen as the ones deep-sixing this reform? Goldwater and the Southern swing of the GOP ended up being used by the Democrats to turn blacks against the GOP. If we could have found a way to get the urban communities aligned with the GOP we would have a much more conservative country and the Democrats would be on their death bed as a party right now. Now I’m afraid that if we alienate the Hispanics at this point, we will be in a very bad situation against the inevitablity of a Democrat president (80 % probability of election of Hillary Clinton given by Rush Limbaugh). They will come in, enact immigration reform that will make this look great in comparison, and we’re really screwed.

I don’t think this immigration reform is good. However, we have to spin this so that we don’t fail in elections. Whether we like it or not, the GOP is our best chance and most Conservative body we can use to gain power and bring in as many people as possible for the Promise and Potential of this country legally. I say we try to use the base as an excuse, delay reform to 2008, but get a wide-ranging counter bill out that provides large numbers of people in Mexico to get in as long as they are well educated. In other words, throw the trash out and take our chances with the best we can get, letting the long arms of Conservative Catholicism and Evangelical Christianity bring them into the fold.

And if the bill passes, we must do what we can to evangelize these people at all costs. If they are converted to full scale conservative Christianity, the will vote Republican.

    #17 fraydog-

And if the bill passes, we must do what we can to evangelize these people at all costs. If they are converted to full scale conservative Christianity, the will vote Republican.

Your comment is well articulated and spot-on until the above quote.

Clearly this issue is surrounding what the pols consider beneficial to creating a new ‘gubmint-dependent’ class, and thusly likely leftist voters. I don’t believe Christianity could or would factor into creating a conservative voting bloc. As an example, the black voting-bloc is overwhelmingly Christian (remember the gangsta’ crowd doesn’t vote) and votes Democrat. That for the most part is a legacy, reflex vote that can be related to the Dixiecrats from the 50’s onwards. (i.e. Zell Miller). In the case of immigrants from Latin America, they too are overwhelmingly Roman Catholic and also on the whole more devout than the average U.S. citizen within their faith. The difference is the southern immigrants are culturally conditioned to large, bureaucratic and endemically corrupt government. Keeping this in mind, it would be expected for them to generally favor a larger government model, that provides the successful career politician more power and consequently a better chance for them to benefit economically or socially. Logically this would lead them to voting for populist politicians/legislation, that have amassed sufficient power to remain in office.

I think it would be foolish to make any assumptions regarding a correlation between religious views as an indicator of likely political allegiances.

Outstanding comment, please jump into the fray more often. Unlike our enemy’s lunatic echo-chambers, we enjoy honest debate and the occasional pack fight.

I am also a proponent of open labor market, so the complaint of “stealing jobs” falls on deaf ears with me. It’s called competition, and the government has no fucking business telling me whom to hire and for how much.
I, personally, oppose this idiotic bill because it encourages parasites to continue being parasites–and to breed more parasites. A lot of these people come from socialist shitholes–and not because they hated socialism, but because there was little to mooch, since everyone else aspires to be a despicable moocher as well. They figured the welfare here would pay better, because there are so many more productive individuals being taxed. Gangbangers and other similar scum works from the same premise: wealthier country, therefore more potential victims. These perpetual welfare-suckers and violent parasites are the assholes I do not want to see thrive here. Cut the welfare programs, let normal citizens defend themselves with lethal force and see this shit subside. No need to go after the business owners, which is just more of socialistic totalitarian crap, anyway.

    Bravo N@ !!!

Such heresy coming off your keyboard, as everyone knows the gubmint is sooo much better at adjusting the economic markets. We need to keep raising the minimum wage so everyone earns an above average wage. (/satire and paradox mode off)

Please add that despicable c u next Tuesday Linda Chavez to your Hall of Shame.

Her playing of the race card on this one is enough to make Johnny Cochran blush.

Hermes Bound (#16) says: “The Huxleyan invertebrates who habitually populate the governmental centers in Wash., DC, and thus have a vested professional and financial interest in the expansion of the federal government, go moist at the thought of an entire subsection of the population living totally on the goverment dole and thus guaranteed to vote for more handouts (and more government).“…

I’ve been thinking about your comment (and DJ’s also) all day yesterday while at work…

Yeah, DJ’s use of the word, “slavery” is what bugged me but you two are both right…

Yet the libtards refuse to get a grip on reality as this bit of drivel by Michael Gerson of the Washington post indicates…

Yet there are people who should know better, Steven Malanga and Tamar Jacoby of the Manhattan Institute seem to see some upsides to this patent sell out of American citizens…

Why can’t people learn the lesson of the Reagan sell out of ‘86?
