About Fucking Time Too!

Looks like the Feds have finally gotten their fingers out of their ample posteriors and handed down an indictment of William “Freezer Cash” Jefferson.
16 counts, up to 200 years in the Big House (of which he’ll serve exactly none, of course. He’s a politician and, as we all know, they’re above the law that the rest of us peons have to follow).

For the record, I am glad also.
He certainly won’t get a 200 year sentence, but he may wind up with 120 - 140 months — at least that is my prediction.
June 4th, 2007 at 1:59 PMUsing
Expect Jefferson to pull the race card, the Democrat card, the Louisiana card, and every other exemption plea to stop his deserved sentencing.
Your or I take some money off the top, we’re jailed, beaten and tossed into the same cell block as the child rapists, violent offenders, murderers, etc. This POS will get no time and not serve a day in his life.
If they’re tossing the book at Paris Hilton, then sentence this prick similarly, if not worse.

He’ll be off scott free before you can say “mudbug”. Jesse and Al are already packing their bags and heading to his side. If he were a white republican they would already be building the gallows.

His top aide better be looking for legal help though. Political immunity doesn’t extend to the worker bees.

This will be good for some grist in the Mills O’ Doom.
I Wonder how Lugosi is going to circle the wagons around this one? She’s gonna have to hike her skirts way up to keep dibs on “The Most Ethical Congress Ever” meme with this little charge.
Without a doubt, not one and the release of the indictment would’ve been one millisecond for the the call for his resignation.

I wonder how this will pan out compared to a well know Republican. My off-hand guess would be “quite differently”.
June 4th, 2007 at 3:18 PMUsing
Not it the federal courts. The judge has very little leeway in sentencing — he can only go within a narrow range of guidelines.
The only way he is going to get less time than his co-defendants is if he dies first.
He will probably end up at a Federal Prison Camp instead of a Federal Correctional Institution, and certainly not a Federal Pennitentiary (where the rapists and murderers end up in the federal system)
I think I will amend my earlier prediction and say that he will receive a 192 month sentence of which he will serve roughly 163 months of it.
Sorry to spoil it for you, but the DOJ statistics say exactly the opposite.
Blacks make up roughly 12 percent of the population in this country, but make up over sixty percent of the US prison population — mostly drug related. The majority of drug use in this country is by white males, yet it is black males who wind up doing the time.
But that is a distraction here. The man has been indicted, give him a trial to decide his guilt or innocence, and then let the chips fall where they may.
Should he resign?
Of course he should. His district is more important than any one man representing it.
June 4th, 2007 at 3:22 PMUsing
Maybe, just maybe he can play “Abramoff” and we’ll get to see the roaches in the beltway scurry. Oh, wait, I forgot. Bush will probably pardon him to suck up to the Dhimmicretins.

DOJ is the only alphabet that matters in this case.
I think that once he has been indicted, he will be dropped like a hot rock.

Ah the state pastime in Louisiana, politics and corruption. Great place to live however.
June 4th, 2007 at 3:32 PMUsing
Jesus Dave this might be your weakest yet. Since the white population is 6 times higher than the blacks, the brothers would have to consume, per capita, 6 times the drugs of their white counterpart for that not to be true.
This is the same as obtuse black activists expecting you to take “more white folks are on welfare than black” at face value (I’ve lost count of the # of times that’s been spewed to me).
June 4th, 2007 at 4:00 PMUsing
That’s a given.
Anywhoo…What was it? Nasty Perogi was sayin’ about “Culture of Corruption?”

You gotta be shittin me? What’s he gonna say, “I don’t know how $90,000.00 got wrapped in aluminum foil And found it’s way into my house”? Isn’t that like “I never had sexual relations with the women”? Sure, might work in Nawlins, but I don’t think the district courts will care. But, once Jackson, Sharpton et al whip out the race card, all bets are off.
Did you miss the fact that this was a comment on the MSM and the difference in reaction to a Black Dem and a White Republican? Looks like it to given your silly response quoting Department of Justice statistics about black males in jail. And those stats have zero to do with this issue, regardless of what you think. Wanna impress me with stats? How many Black Male Congressional Representatives does the DOJ show incarcerated?
Thought so…

various people
This guy is clearly corrupt and deserves jail time (no argument on this blog). Various prosecutors have put corrupt Republicans in jail. Duke Cunningham is deservedly doing some serious time. (Although the prosecutor Carol Lamm is now history.) I’m not sure of the status of Bob Ney (my bad). My point is that corrupt Republicans are in jail. Why wouldn’t this weasely Democrat go to jail? I don’t care if he’s black–doesn’t make him any less corrupt. Personally Sharpton can bite my ass, and I’m not a big fan of Jesse Jackson, but I don’t think he’s quite as bad as AS). Unless I’m terribly wrong (been known to happen), wouldn’t it be the state prosecutor that would determine whether charges are filed? I don’t see what Nancy Pelosi has to do with it. There has been some comment here about how corrupt Louisiana is, so maybe that would be a mitigating factor.

Welcome to married life Spats!
You can see the double standard with Jefferson just by comparing to the scum sucking prick Foley. The MSM has barely reported on allegations and now an indictment of serious federal felonies on Jefferson, yet the asshole Foley does something disgustingly immoral, not even a crime, and he was front page fodder until forced to resign.
Jefferson, gets a standing ovation from the Congressional Black Caucus.
Difference, one had an R behind his name, one a D.
Double standard, nope. Nothing to see here, move along.

June 4th, 2007 at 9:58 PMUsing
At the moment Jaybear he’s doing very well in the polls. I read an article that of all people…Willy Wonka Nagin was considering running. If he does he will get his smarmy, school bus drowning ass kicked to hell and back…but we’ll have to see how that goes. Bobby stands an excellent chance of winning. Folks up here in the sane section of Looosiana know that the Dems have screwed things up enough.
Bobby ran against Blanco for Governor and lost…and then ran for State Representative but I’m not sure who his opponent was. Landrieu is a Senator (whom I am praying gets her ass kicked out next run). Unless you were thinking about her brother Mitch who is Lt. Governor. The Landrieu clan has as long and illustrious criminal political career as Edwin Edwards. Daddy Moon Landrieu was once Mayor of Nawlins.

Tell me about the Chicago politicians. We have Mayor (King) Richard M. Daley who has been in for close to two decades (I’m not surprised if he had his mobster buddies help him twist a few votes out), and every other week it seems that we have an alderman going to jail for some corrupt deeds. So when we say that something is corrupt, yes, it’s pretty bad.

Capitalist Infidel–I watched the episode on the History Channel that recreated that day. Just watching that caused serious butt pucker. That said I don’t think he should get one less day because he is a hero, or one more for that matter.

The feds managed to convict and actually send up Fast Eddie Edwards for just about the rest of his natural life for non-criminal acts committed after he was no longer governor, so I have some expectation that Jefferson will actually do some pretty serious time. He’s being tried in Virginia, I hear, not Louisiana, a strategy move that seems good on its face, but doesn’t recognize the disaffection most prospective jurors in the federal Eastern Dist. of La feel for Jefferson. That district, though it sits in New Orleans, gets most of its jurors from the surrounding parishes, where all the folks who fled and still hate New Orleans politicos, corruption, crime, and racial integration live. The reasons the scum-bag was elected were lack of any real opposition, bussed-in black voters in Orleans, and a contrarian strategy expecting that he was about to be indicted and would be removed–I know a number of people who voted that strategy and are some-pissed at the feds for taking so damn long. None of that would affect a jury. Gummintland, Va., though, may be a different beast. Jefferson’s antics and the power of his political friends, including the Black Congressional Caucus may, along with the idiotic, trutherist conspiracy theories the defense is cooking up, play better in Va. My money is still on the gummint, though I frankly hope ol’ $Bill cheats ‘em by suckin’ on a shotgun. Anything to save the taxpayers’ money, right?

First good news–As LC Mrs M-ITT advises (don’t know where she is, but I’m guessing it’s behind the Pine Curtain–very different socio-politically from my stompin’ ground, NOLA), Jindal has built very strong support statewide. He’s an extremely talented, intelligent, evangelical Christian family-man (he delivered his own child, when his wife suddenly went into labor about a year ago–now that’s a family man). Those who voted for Blanko, because they wanted to vote for a cajun or “white” over a “brown” have mostly realized what that got them. Jindal is doing a great job working the conservative Christian vote–huge in Louisiana and about the only avenue to circumvent lingering race issues. We are expectant that he will be the next governor. Dems are showing their true colors, trying to emphasize Jindal’s ethnicity–every time they mention him, they include his middle, Indian name, Piyush. That’s just pissin’ off more voters. Even the Dem lap-dog media are throwin’ the BS flag on it. Now, if we can only replace most of our legislators, too, we’ll be good to go.
Quick follow-up for Spartan24 and Psycho-chick–Fast Eddie was never convicted of anything before or during his service as an elected official. He was convicted afterward, because far lesser men who’d used his clout entered into plea bargains for their own real crimes, requiring them to pin Fast Eddie. So no, we didn’t elect a convicted criminal; we elected a guy so smooth that no one could tag him (despite pursuing him, rather than doing real law enforcement, for a good 30 years), until he was out of office. The crimes he was convicted of required that he use the power of government office to extort money–so how did that work? Sometimes, justice is spelled, “just us”–particularly under the federal occupation of the South. Another little fable in support of the Second, Fourth, and Fifth Amendments and vigilance against federal tyranny.

LC Mrs M-ITT, always glad to know of good folks in S’port/Bossier–I grew up there (Capt. Shreve alum) and spent a good deal of time at the Base (had kind of a mil. dependent gang back in the day). BTW, when evac’d from Katrina, we found a place in S’port under the Texas Street Bridge called Brother’s Seafood. Chef/Owner’s name is Orlando, I think. Superb soul food by any standard and a really nice guy (service, however, was widely variable, so go with a very relaxed attitude). Also, if you haven’t ever made a run over to Ruston for the Peach Festival or just to visit Mitcham’s Peach Orchard, you’re missing the Hope Diamond of North Louisiana. I get ‘em shipped down, they’re so good–others, even Georgians, agree, there’s none better. Would that the fundamental goodness of Louisiana could get some press, instead of the BS.
