I wrote this for my radio talk-show Tuesday Truth this week and thought it worthwhile to publish here: The illegal immigration issue has taken on a life of it’s own. In spite of massive public opinion against Zhamnesty 2008, that even congress is admitting they are getting swamped with constituency feed back, overwhelmingly AGAINST all proposals and iterations of what they started with.

There can be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100% Americanism, only for those who are Americans and nothing else.

-Theodore Roosevelt

Immigration-

We’ve been watching the Bush administration and congress the last few months going all out to enact legislation addressing the issue of illegal immigration. The last few years have brought out an increasingly shrill and ‘in your face’ push from various groups purportedly trying to address the issue with lies, distortions and bullying. The president has even alluded that opponents of the legislative efforts are racists and bigots. Endless opinion polls, patently biased, are widely published as representative of the average citizen’s views. Rarely do they coincide with the good commons sense of most people outside the beltway and the special interest groups. Let there be no mistake about it, this bill, regardless of flowery words, fully intends to give amnesty, citizenship, voting rights and full access to government (that would be from your wallet of course) benefits to individuals that are de-facto felons. The existing immigration laws make it a felony for illegally entering the country. The very presence of the illegal alien in the US, make them criminals. Regardless, we see protest marches, civil disobedience and even schools encouraging students to cut classes to attend these events. Do we see protest marches by other criminals proudly proclaiming their crimes? Have we seen burglars and robbers marching in the streets, demanding the ‘right’ to continue committing crimes and pardons for crimes already committed?

What gives?, why does the president and congress seem hell-bent on getting amnesty for what may nearly be 20 million criminals? This is an issue that both political parties have a stake in. The democrats see a large group of new potential voters that fit their agenda of ever-growing social welfare programs and expanding government. The illegal immigrant issue is a gold-mine for pandering with socialists programs and demagogue stances by race being played by DC at every turn and that’s coming from both sides of the Taco Aisle (or should I say Isle?) . They foresee generations of guaranteed votes, unlike former European and Asian immigrants, those of Hispanic ancestry seem determined to resist assimilation. This is the group that ‘demands’ a bilingual society and culture and ‘rights’ of access to every nickel of the federal largess.

Teddy Roosevelt said it bluntly:

Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.

Does that sound harsh? I think not, it’s good common sense to ensure legal residents of the republic have minimal skills to cope within our society. Our language is a common bond that cements us together. Any immigrant that refuses to become fluent in the English language, permanently bars themselves from moving upwards economically and socially. A multi-lingual society becomes balkanized, destroying any sense of national cohesion. Instead of becoming Americans period, they are allowed to continue thinking as hyphenated-americans and as such entitled to ‘special privileges, as if their own choice to maintain their native language is an involuntary handicap. Of course today’s left is all about ‘victimizing’ particular groups and posturing as the great ‘defenders’ or ‘protectors’ of the helpless. Critical to portraying a group as victims is to ensure they aren’t allowed to rise up and away from nanny-state government and social programs. Honestly viewed, the concept of promoting ‘multi-culturalism’ is actually soft bigotry. It presupposes a particular group is incapable of success without massive government support. That’s the left’s stake in the issue.

The Republican party (particularly the RINO wing) has their stake in the deal via dishonest business interests. Let there be no doubt, I’m absolutely committed to free market economies and rarely take a slap at big business, but this is ONE issue where it’s obvious to any thinking person what they want. Illegal immigrants are the perfect group to prey on financially. What happened to the alleged ‘crackdown’ on business after the Hormel raid. They and a number of other companies are known violators of existing federal regulation in employment. Was the recent raid just “staged” event by ICE, for the Bush administration to point to as a show of enforcing existing law? These companies are blatantly creating a 21st century slave-class. Thanks to Ted Kennedy and LBJ, the immigration reform act resulted in a ten-fold increase of annual legal admissions, with a corresponding increase in illegal immigration. Large business concerns employing illegals is in the driver’s seat in creating horrid working conditions for a group already living in the shadows. Wage, hours, benefits, work-place safety/health issues can all be disregarded when the employee fully knows they have little recourse other than resigning.

I found an excellent piece on this issue that articulated a great analogy. The US is the Titanic, steaming at full-speed into the field of icebergs. George W. Bush is at the wheel and the far-left is in the engine room, cranking up even more steam. Dishonest CEOs are the crew members, employing the slaves to keep on shoveling coal.

Proceeding along the course we’re on, leads to a collapse of society under the ever-increasing weight of sheer numbers. Medical care, housing, education, racial tensions, ethnic lawlessness all lie along this course, looming as the icebergs to rip the republic open. At that is already happening, we’re not talking about ‘junk global warming science’ with 20 or 50 year ‘deadlines’, this is here and now today.

The slaves have already shown they are ready to revolt: Millions of Mexican illegals follow ‘Reconquista de Aztlan’ or the retaking of America. They’ve already succeeded in Los Angles, California and Houston, Texas and most of Arizona. Once they reach a critical mass in a not-too-distant future, they will succeed in this goal, as our political leaders blindly move ahead full-steam ensuring these conditions are met.

If we deny reality and refuse to face the facts, hoping it will all go away, we sink just like the ‘Unsinkable Ship’. We have the message in our hands now, do we change course or speed up like the administration and congress intend, ensuring an earlier day of reckoning for our society?

As a recent (well, 1985 anyway) immigrant, that went through the whole legal grind, I am utterly and totally offended by what Arbusto is trying to pull off.

Making 12 to 20 Million (who really knows anyway?) illegals, who could not care less about our laws and customs, full residents with a path to citizenship is an INSULT to every natural and legal citizen.

I could not agree more with TR on this. If you WANT to emigrate here, it means you WANT to become an AMERICAN, as in the United States of America - American. That entails adopting the customs and language of your new country and entering L E G A L L Y. I am glad someone bent Arnold the Governators ear and got him to make the “learn english” speech. He is absolutely effing correct on that count and I think he sees the end of California and the start of Mexifornia on his watch. Companies and skilled workers are leaving CA in droves. Just watch the GNP of CA over the next few years and see where it is trending… and keep in mind, as goes CA, then usually goes the nation. Time to STOP this nonsense NOW!

Oh, most assuredly, HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why can those we “elected” not see this? Or, perchance, could this not be why they are so dedicated to the destruction of the 2A? That it not be utilised for the exact reason it was written? Note the Quotes on “elected”? Would this suggest that this is a farcical implication? How often do these people reflect the will of the electoral base that put them there? Could it be that there is NO truth to “elections” being anything other than a propaganda move to make America THINK it’s real? Think, dear readers, think.

I hate to be a lazy cut/paste’er , but I got these stats in a forwarded email (supposed facts from LA Times)… Anyone able to fact check me quickly, or already seen/ knew of this? (Pay particular attention to %’age crop pickers vs. %’age on the gubment dole…) Just a lil’ something for your blood pressure…:)
(seriously, if any/some/all of this is true, then this is the shit the lamestream media AND our gubment SHOULD report but keep hidden in a dark, remote closet somewhere…)

Here’s my lazy cut and paste part:

    1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County ( L.A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.

    2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

    3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens

    4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal , whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

    5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

    6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

    7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

    8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

    9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.

    10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish.
(There are 10.2 million people in L.A. County ).

(All of the above are from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare.

Over 70% of the United States ‘ annual population growth (and over 90% of California , Florida , and New York ) results from immigration.

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

Sorry if anything is incorrect, I didn’t research it– it just seemed par for the course of our elected morons to allow shit like this to happen..

Well, here’s what Trent Lott had to say…

Senate Minority leader(and Amnesty Senator from Mississippi) Trent Lott, who spoke to
reporters yesterday. “I’ve had my phones jammed for three weeks.
Yesterday I had three people answering them continuously all day.
To think that you’re going to intimidate a senator or any
senator into voting one way or the other by gorging your phones
with phone calls — most of whom don’t even know where Gulfport,
Mississippi, is — is not an effective tactic. But it’s their
    right to do that.”

Basically saying that no matter what the people want they, or he anyway, will vote the way he/they please. How’s that for a kick in the nits from your elected official? No concern for his constituents what-so-ever!

The American people need to get together cone next election and vote out whoever votes for this piece of shit!

That is pretty scary that a doctor can put you on the no gun list. I can understand if someone is extremely dangerous to themselves and others but that is so subjective. One doctor with an agenda could take gun rights away from people who are just “flaky” or have different political beliefs as he or she does.

Sure is, up here in the peoples republic of Western Washington State (the good guys are holding fast in the Eastern part of the state), I believe it is law that a doctor has to ask you if you have guns in the house when you go in for a physical. My doctor has asked me the last two years when I’ve gone in for a checkup. I always respond like this:
Question: “do you have any firearms in your house?”
    Answer: “classified”

I recall a Mensa meeting back when I was in High School. This was when the “standardized psychological profile tests” were first started. One of the members was a psychiatrist who was involved in an evaluation program for these tests, who told us, “Folks, WE are the ones in trouble when these become wisely used. The way the questions are written, you will always see the alternatives to the absolute answers. And if you answer them honestly, you are just plain screwed. If you take one of these, take your time, and lie.” He went on to say that he hoped that the reports he was filing on them would help to stop the use of them.

    Unfortunately, they didn’t.

I took a mensa test once, passed it with ten points to spare. Big deal, so I read a lot. But I did not join them, no fucking way. I do remember a visit I had with a doc once…asked if I had a gun I told him my gun wasn’t sick, I was. Now out here in Dog Patch, USA, where the local sawbones can be found duck hunting…never had a problem. We talk about guns, avidly and fondly,

I found an excellent piece on this issue that articulated a great analogy. The US is the Titanic, steaming at full-speed into the field of icebergs. George W. Bush is at the wheel and the far-left is in the engine room, cranking up even more steam. Dishonest CEOs are the crew members, employing the slaves to keep on shoveling coal.

    hey guys,

I know everybody has a violent reaction when you disagree with the stream of info in illegals in this country. Now, this is not meant to say that I think we should have hordes of them here. But I think all relevant information should be available for analysis.

That comment is not as stupid as it sounds. It sounds like a reference to a National Research Council study conducted at the request of the National Academy of Sciences. They found that the amount of taxes paid by illegals were greater than the costs of social support. Sorry–I don’t have study and I’m too ill to do a lot of searching. It’s an economic analysis–it doesn’t mean we should keep them all. That would obviously change, too, if they start getting money back on their taxes. (and i do NOT do talking points).

I just got out of the ICU today. Luckily it was not a heart attack, but anemia so severe I required an immediate blood transfusion–had no idea it could get that bad. It explains a lot. The EMT guys said I was a comic and should hang out with them!

I find it odd that someone swoops into a site and calls everyone an idiot and flies off. I guess it must provide gratification.

Speaking of the denizons of this site not being idiots, a liberal friend of mine was quite excited that I had found a blog with intellectual debate. Beginner’s luck!

    1) a lot of Hispanics have been voting Republican lately. Most of my reading of that has been lost in the mists of time. But there was just an article on it on that right-wing site that the blog picture links to.

    2) The Roosevelt point indicates something I had suspected. There used to be a huge problem with immigrants not speaking English (Italian, Eastern Europeans). However the children learned English and assimilated. It did not turn out be a problem. I would HOPE that would be the case for the Hispanic kids.

I live just across the border from Ft. Scott, Kansas. The community college there used to have an English as second language program that drew a lot of foreign college students there. I don’t know if that accounts for the fact that both Ft. Scott and Nevada have a lot of immigrants or not but I’ve run into people from all over the world who have come to this rural area.

One thing most of them agree on, despite their politics, is the fact they all insist on enforcing our borders. Nothing seems to piss them off more than knowing that they had to jump through all the hoops and there are those who just stroll on in without bothering to pay any dues.

    psychochick,
It doesn’t matter whether illegal immigrants pay more taxes than the benefits they receive cost (not that I believe that they do) but they take up slots of people who are willing to do the right thing and go through the processes we have in place to ensure an orderly assimilation into American life.

No country can long survive if it doesn’t maintain a national identity. I’m not talking ethnicity or religion or race. It’s about being a part of a greater whole. You don’t have to give up being who you are to do that. You do need to accept what America is however.

America is a nation of immigrants that have blended together to form the most envied nation on the face of the planet. Demanding that America conform to the whims of newcomers is a recipe for disaster. We should be welcoming of them but it is they who should adjust to us, not the other way around.

America has always been the Great Melting Pot. Meaning that all races, ethnicities, backgrounds and nationalities have been blended into one. No one stands out. We all speak a common language, we all have a common loyalty to our country, and we all fight for the same rights. These days there are groups which insist on no longer melding with the rest. They demand their own identity separate from Americans, a separate language, a separate loyalty, separate rights. THAT is NOT what America has been or is. We’re being expected to accept those that have no overriding loyalty to the United States or to it’s Constitution, or it’s borders. Those that have come here in the past considered themselves Americans first, their former identity second. They considered it a badge of honor to learn English and become Americanized while at the same time honoring their former cultures without sacrificing their loyalty to their new home.

That is no longer the case. If you cannot be willing to give your loyalty to this country, then you do not belong here.

    I have a question.

Why would “Big Business,” or any business for that matter, endorse Amnesty?

Were I in business, wouldn’t it behove me to want to keep aliens illegal?

I mean, after all, their illegal status tends to keep them quiet about low wages, which benefits business.

In the long run, if they attain legal status, it’ll give them more power, business loses their cheap labor, and their bottom line suffers.

So, for me, the argument that Amnesty benefits Big Business, doesn’t make any sense.

That is the problem. NONE OF IT…makes any sense. This bill spits in the face of reason and logic, not to mention the citizens (and future citizens who went the legal route) and the Constitution. This “CONGRESS” shows us what Marcus Tulluis Cicero knew during the Roman Empire:

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague.”

What Big Business (and many small businesses) sees sensible in this bill is the guest worker provision. They are salivating at the prospect of justifying every job one that “Americans won’t do” so they can bring in their armies of slaves (slave by standards of what they will be paid and benefits we’d expect but they won’t get) and rotate them in and out as needed.

Yes, I run one of the studios for an internet radio station network RadioCIA. We stream 24/7 Country-Western music, featuring live broadcasters on-air every evening with Bluegrass, Classic Rock and Gospel music as well. We’re non-commercial and that means no annoying advertising or ‘fixed’ playlists endless repeated.

My talk show airs Tuesday evenings from 7-10 pm CT.

That was probably Hispanics of Cuban descent. If I recall correctly the ‘average’ Hispanic vote is similar demographically to the black vote, being on the order of 80%+ democratic. Some of the black/Hispanic voters splintered-off and went for W in 2004, but not in great numbers. The left has the illegals locked-up tight (and yes, they have thousands illegally voting already) with numbers that significant.
