Alert reader (who also didn’t leave a nick so we could properly attribute, argh!) Ewokstomper sends us this link about a Sheriff in Florida who is, I don’t know if I can even type out the horrible words, ENFORCING THE LAW! Of course, the Usual Suspects are howling like butt-fucked burros with splinters in their arses:

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - The sheriff’s department has developed a remarkably effective — and controversial — way of catching illegal immigrants: Deputies in patrol cars pull up to a construction site in force, and watch and see who runs.

Those who take off are chased down and arrested on charges such as trespassing, for cutting through someone else’s property, or loitering, for hiding out in someone’s yard, or reckless driving, for speeding off in a car.

U.S. immigration authorities are then given the names of those believed to be in this country illegally.

“It’s not wrong for them to run, but it’s not wrong for us to chase them either,” said Sheriff Frank McKeithen, who created his Illegal Alien Task Force in April to target construction sites in this Florida Panhandle county.

Definitely not wrong, as long as you let your deputies know that a running target requires a longer lead.

Immigrant advocates say the technique is repugnant,

That would be “ILLEGAL Immigrant advocates”, since it’s hard to see how LEGAL immigrants would have a problem with this.

and the ACLU says its constitutionality is questionable.

But of course they do. We all know and revere the part of the Constitution where it clearly and unequivocally says “the laws must never, EVER be enforced.” It’s a good thing the ACLU hates it, though, or some people might be left wondering if it really is a good thing. Once again, we owe the American Communist Litigative Unit for having provided us with a litmus test. If the ACLU hates it, it just has to be good for America.

Illegal immigrants are leaving town.

See? It’s working. Criminals are being deprived of the fruits of their thieving. No wonder the ACLU are livid.

And builders are worried the crackdown will deprive them of the labor they need to take part in a building boom in which Panama City’s Beach cheap spring-break motels are being torn down and replaced with high-rise condos.

We bet the Southern plantation owners were worried about their cotton harvests when Abraham Lincoln decided to free the slaves too, and we are just about exactly as sympathetic towards the plight of the builders.

Would somebody bring us the Imperial Nano-Tech Violin™, please? We feel a horribly sad song coming on.

The sheriff said the raids are justified under a long-standing Florida law prohibiting employers from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.

What? A law against knowingly and criminally hiring criminals who are criminals for being here in the first place? Just you wait until Jorge Arbusto hears about THAT crime against humanity, Sheriff! But you’ll have to wait a bit. We understand that he’s on yet another “lick the floors of mosques, wailing about the religion of peace” tour right now.

His department has conducted dozens of these raids over the past three months, sometimes using five or six patrol cars, and has reported more than 500 people to immigration officials since November.

Reports that Michael Jerkoff’s incompetent buffoons have then, we’re sure, filed in the nearest shredder.

The Mexican American Legal Defense Fund is investigating the arrests because “the intimidation factor is of great concern,” said Elise Shore, regional counsel for the organization.

How DARE law enforcement run around intimidating criminals?

Benjamin Stevenson, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union in Florida, said he finds the tactic troubling.

“Why are they sending out six or seven agents to investigate a paper crime, and are they causing them to run in the first place through intimidation?” he asked.

So violating American sovereignty, gobbling up millions in taxpayer funds and committing fraud and forgery is just a “paper crime?” Why, it all sounds so harmless now.

As the debate over illegal immigration plays out in Washington, McKeithen is among a growing number of state and local officials taking it upon themselves to enforce immigration laws that up to now were regarded as a federal responsibility.

Right up until the federal fuckwits decided, unilaterally, that the nation’s laws didn’t apply to them and that they’d be damned if they were going to do the jobs that the taxpayers hired them to do. In most other businesses, that would get you fired. If you’re a federal employee, it gets you a raise and a promotion.

For example, Farmers Branch, Texas, is trying to prohibit apartment rentals to illegal immigrants in the Dallas suburb. Georgia passed a law requiring employers to verify the immigration status of all new employees.

Barbara Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Miami, would not comment on the sheriff’s tactics.

She was too busy making sure that her illegal nanny had picked up the kids from school and that her lawn had been mowed, we’re sure.

McKeithen has asked Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum for a legal opinion on his tactics. A spokeswoman for McCollum said the office is researching the request.

Which, of course, means that they’re doing their damndest to avoid answering the question. After all, you would think that the Attorney General could somehow accomplish the task of opening the books containing the laws that he’s sworn to uphold without much “research” being required.

McKeithen is already under fire from civil rights groups over the videotaped 2006 death of a 14-year-old boy who was roughed up by guards at a juvenile boot camp operated by the sheriff’s department. Eight former employees are facing manslaughter charges.

Your obligatory Associated Press “totally irrelevant to the subject at hand, but we have to insinuate that the Sheriff is a Bad Man™” item. You may safely ignore it.

The sheriff said that more recently, his officers have been making fewer arrests of workers who flee,

Most likely because they’re busy doing breast stroke in the Rio Grande now, going in the right direction for once.

and are concentrating more on asking employers for the paperwork on their employees. Sheriff’s deputies then arrest workers whose documents are found to be fraudulent.

They should be arresting the employers as well.

Mexican illegal immigrant Jose Madrid, 28, said he has been unable to find a construction job over the past six weeks because of the crackdown, and hasn’t been able to send money to his parents and his 7-year-old son back home.

That is about as touching as a burglar complaining about his loss of income since his local hunting grounds decided to install dead bolts and alarm systems but, to demonstrate my deeply felt empathy, I’ll graciously refrain from laughing.

“We immigrants, we are leaving Panama City. People are afraid they will be deported,” he said. “The companies don’t want to hire illegal people. Now they’re only hiring those with papers.”

Damn those gringos for finally following the law!

Developer Louis Breland is finishing the first phase of a $750 million beach condo project.

“Subcontractors could not function without immigrant laborers for painting, rebar and steel work.

Then the subcontractors need to find a line of work more commensurate with their extremely limited qualifications.

They are the best workers,” he said.

Damn straight they are! You hardly have to pay them, and if they as much as think about being five minutes late for work, all you have to do is to whisper “la Migra” and hey, there’s no end to what they’ll do! Heck, they’ll even let you fuck their pre-teen daughters!

How my heart bleeds for you, having to stand there and watch slavery being abolished before your very eyes.

“Without them, the cost of construction would be 10 times as much and nothing would get built.”

As proven by the fact that no single building was built in the United States of America until around the 60s. Up until then, we all lived in tents in the wide open desert.

Ok. Ok. What? Ok. It’s a boom, right? So therefore the profit margins are really high, ok. Follow me? So you don’t need to…I know this is a little tricky here, but you don’t need to break the law to profit from a market boom, because they’re going to be paying you a lot. They’re going to be paying you so much, you’ll actually be able to afford to hire- gasp!- American laborers. Take my word for it.

I know, some of this economic shit is crazy.

And here, I’ll take you even further with this one. Like, if there was a grapefruit boom or something, you might say, “hey, we need wetbacks to cash in on this grapefruit fad.” Because, you know, people might just buy cheap Somoan grapefruits or something if you can’t produce any, because apparently American laborers cost $70 an hour plus dental, to hear these guys tell it. But the funny thing about buildings is that, you can’t import them. Usually. I mean, Bill Gates and the Waltons probably could, but for most of the market, by and large, you don’t have to worry about houses and the Earth you put them on being brought in from China. Got it? You’re not going out of business in the middle of a building boom, unless you’re incompetent.

Which is possible, but I think you’re just pretending.

Ok. Lemme see if I have this right.
    A. Cops drive up to a construction site en masse. All they are doing is watching, observing activity.
    B. Illegals scatter like the cockroaches they are, hoping to get away.
    C. Cops give chase because the observed activity has now become suspicious.
    D. The cops arrest any one of them engaged in demostratively illegal activity. Yeah, it’s petty shit, but remember- McVeigh was captured because a cop noticed the license plate on his car wasn’t right.
How is any of this unConstitutional?

OMG! The cops are arresting minor offenders, and using the opportunity to see if the minor offender is also commiting a major crime!

Wait, they do that all time. Every time you get pulled over, I’m sure the cop looks in the window just to see whether you have an open (Alchohol of course) container or bag of dope in your car. Its perfectly legal.

I’m sure that while the cops are busting the illegals, they’re catching at least a few people who run because they have dope in thier pockets, or they haven’t been obeying thier paroles, and so forth…

As far as the companies involved go, the illegals are nothing more then easily controlled, easily manipulated semi slaves. “Hey Jose, want a job? Sign on this contract. Can’t read English? Don’t worry about it, its all good! You want a payraise, and the week off? I don’t know… What do you mean you have a problem, if you think you have a problem, I can call the Feds and we can all talk this out. Yeah, thats what I though.”

I’m a little further west than Panama City, and it’s the same over here, except that none of the local sheriffs have the balls of Sheriff McKeithen. The huge influx of illegals started after Hurricane Ivan (remember that one, the one that devastated the Gulf Coast long before Katrina?) and hasn’t abated since then. One of my co-workers walked next door in her TSA uniform to ask the site supervisor to not use her water hose again without asking, and the mere sight of ONE person with a badge sent them scattering. Amazing.

Of course, since we work for DHS, making the phone call to report the illegals on the construction site was summarily ignored as “none of our concern”.

Yet another reason I no longer work for for Skelator Jerkemoff.

See, this is why “multicultural” liberals are mostly white: they don’t know Mexicans are white, too. (A good example of this would be my half-Mexican husband, who you’d never know is Hispanic to look at him) Being Hispanic means being part of an ethnicity, not a separate race…and a lot of them aren’t dark-skinned at all. Racially-speaking, they’re Caucasian. (In fact, you could say it’s racist for assuming that Hispanics are “brown people” when they aren’t)

Further proof of this is his ignorance of what many legal Mexican immigrants feel about illegal aliens. Let’s just say that my husband’s family has even harsher words for them than I do, mainly because many of them had to wait for up to ten years to enter the States legally. People don’t tend to like line-jumpers, even when they’re from the same ethnicity. I guess that makes them self-hating Hispanics in the moonbat mindset?

My guess is that Harley’s a bored rich white college student who doesn’t venture out of his circle of fellow bored rich white college students. Oh, they talk about “multiculturalism” all day, but they don’t actually associate with ethnic minorities all that much.

Well, something similar is going on here in AZ. Sheriff Joe is arresting these illegals, and so far, he’s beaten every challenge. more here

Proof that we CAN enforce the laws.

Gee your honor, honestly, we were just standing near the construction site, eating donuts and minding our own business. We had no idea that they were illegals until they ran upon seeing us. That just made us a might curious about why they were running.

“As proven by the fact that no single building was built in the United States of America until around the 60s. Up until then, we all lived in tents in the wide open desert.”
Actually, Emperor, we peasants down here stole the land, chased the Indians (oops–Native Americans, or aboriginals, or the name du jour) from their caves and hollow logs, and raped Gaia with abandon, as we all do.
Damn! If we’d had the technology to build structures, Tennessee could have become famous for.. I dunno..if we aged our whisky and fired our tobacco, maybe? We’ll never know.

Like the Phil Collins son goes,… “Its Noo FUUuun,.. Being an illegal AAllieeen,… HMMMMMmm,.. How about ENFORCING the laws and ploicies currently on the books vs. a bunch of new bureaucracy and bullshit? Here in Bay County, FL, we have a Sheriff and his department that is NOT afraid of bein proactive in enforcing the law, and I’ll sure as hell support him in his next reelection in any damned way I can!! I just wonder how soon we’ll be besieged by race-baiters wanting rights for the illegals! NO MAS ILLEGALS!!!!

“Without them, the cost of construction would be 10 times as much and nothing would get built.”

‘Having had both boots firmly in the building trades since black n white tv, I can say that’s utter bullshit Half my work is unfarking their shit.

‘Sure, the employer’s gonna have to pay more. Insurance, taxes, y’know, the stuff Citizens are assured.
That certainly won’t add up to any freakin’ x10.

Even if were half that, the quality of domestic craftsmenship (the one’s that will still be around after the check clears) is much more assured, and worth it.

I am about to split open right now trying NOT to laugh at this! The subcontractors say they can’t function without illegal workers because they “are the best workers.” That is funny right there, I don’t care who you are.

Of course, when you have someone that you don’t have to pay a fair wage, carry worker’s comp insurance on and still have them show up to work is “the best worker.” They just don’t want you to turn them over to immigration.

    This is just laughable!

Hell, there was another similar episode on the Hathaway bridge on US 98, when a few cars were dealing with another miscreant, and the “Pedros and Pacos” stopped right there on a busy 8-lane bridge, got out of their cars, and RAN!! Of course, most of them were caught and found to be illegal (imagine that) but the BCSD didn’t hesitate to arrest them!
